선박용 디젤발전기의 진동 절연을 위한 설계 기준 (A Design Criterion for the Vibration Isolation of a Marine Diesel Generator Set)

  • The resilient mounts of a diesel engine installed onboard a ship should be designed for both static and dynamic loads. If possible, the resonance frequencies of the six rigid body modes of the installation and the flexible modes of the engine support structure should not lie within the engine operation range. In this paper a design criterion is proposed to evaluate an isolation system which involves the summation of dynamic forces transmitted through the resilient mounts and elastic potential energy index stored in the mounts. A case study is also presented in which a diesel engine generator, which had an elastic foundation and was mounted in a 5500 TEU container vessel, was studied both theoretically and experimentally. The theoretical analysis of the test model was performed by using a single mass 6 degree of freedom system. Actual measurements of mechanical vibration of the engine and its foundation onboard were carried out, which showed the importance of including the flexibility of the engine support structure in the mode.

Soil-structure interaction effect on active control of multi-story buildings under earthquake loads

  • A direct output feedback control scheme was recently proposed by the authors for single-story building structures resting on flexible soil body. In this paper, the control scheme is extended to mitigate the seismic responses of multi-story buildings. Soil-structure interaction is taken into account in two parts: input at the soil-structure interface/foundation and control algorithm. The former reflects the effect on ground motions and is monitored in real time with accelerometers at foundation. The latter includes the effect on the dynamic characteristics of structures, which is formulated by modifying the classical linear quadratic regulator based on the fundamental mode shape of the soil-structure system. Numerical result on the study of a $\frac{1}{4}$-scale three-story structure, supported by a viscoelastic half-space of soil mass, have demonstrated that the proposed algorithm is robust and very effective in suppressing the earthquake-induced vibration in building structures even supported on a flexible soil mass. Parametric studies are performed to understand how soil damping and flexibility affect the effectiveness of active tendon control. The selection of weighting matrix and effect of soil property uncertainty are investigated in detail for practical applications.

스파이럴 볼트 변형률계를 이용한 연약지반기초 및 암반사면 거동 계측 (Measurement of Soft Ground Foundation and Rock Slope Behavior Using Spiral Bolt Strain Gauge)

  • 본 연구에서는 연약지반기초 및 암반사면 거동 계측 도구로서 스파이럴 볼트 변형률계의 적용 가능성을 살펴보고자 한다. 이 변형률계가 지중에 설치되었을 때, 지반에 대한 인발 저항성이 높아 지반 보강용으로 적용될 수 있을 뿐만 아니라, 유연성의 특징을 가지고 있기 때문에 지반의 거동 상태를 파악하는데 유용하게 이용될 수 있다. 연약지반기초에 대한 스파이럴 볼트의 변형률 계측결과, 변형률 측정 초기에는 안정한 상태를 보이다가 400일이 경과한 시점에서는 스파이럴 볼트 변형률계의 윗부분과 중간부분에서 큰 변화가 관찰되었다. 이러한 변화는 동일한 시기에 강수량 증가와 함께 빈번하게 발생한 진도 1~2의 지진에 의한 영향으로 지반이 이완되어 야기한 것으로 분석된다. 암반사면에 대한 스파이럴 볼트의 변형률 계측결과, 측정시작일로부터 50일 동안에 안정한 상태를 보였으며 50~160일 기간에는 매설길이 4.2 m 지점(P6)의 변형률 게이지에서 가장 큰 변형률을 보였다. 그러나 P6 변형률 게이지를 제외한 나머지 게이지는 특이한 변화를 보이지 않았다. 스파이럴 볼트 변형률계의 측정결과를 종합적으로 살펴보면 측정대상인 연약지반기초와 암반사면은 안정적인 것으로 판단된다. 본 연구에서 소개하는 스파이럴 볼트 변형률계는 연약지반기초 및 암반사면 거동의 모니터링과 동시에 대상지반의 보강에 적용될 수 있을 것으로 사료된다.

Simplified Analysis of Three Dimensional Mega Foundations for High-Rise Buildings

  • In this study, an approximate computer-based method was developed to analyze the behavior of raft and piled raft foundations. Special attention is given to the improved analytical method proposed by considering raft flexibility and soil nonlinearity. The overall objective of this study is to focus on the application of a simplified analysis method for predicting the behavior of sub-structures. Through the comparative studies, it is found that the computer programs (YS-MAT and YSPR), developed in this study, is in agreement with the general trends observed by field measurements. Therefore, YS-MAT (Yonsei-Mat) and YSPR (Yonsei Piled Raft) can be effectively used for the preliminary design of a raft or a piled raft foundation for high-rise buildings.

  • This paper describes the formulation for the vibration analysis of cylindrical shells with stiffeners by the transfer influence coefficient method. This method was developed on the base of the concept of the successive transmission of dynamic influence coefficients. The simple computational results from a personal computer demonstrate the validity of the present method, that is, the numerical high accuracy and the flexibility of programming, are compared with results of the transfer matrix method. It is also confirmed that the present algorithm could provide the solutions of high accuracy for system with a number of intermediate rigid supports. And all boundary conditions and the intermediate stiff supports such as intermediate rigid supports between shell and foundation can be treated only by adequately controlling the values of the spring constants.

Adaptive balancing of highly flexible rotors by using artificial neural networks

  • The present work is an alternative methodology in order to balance a nonlinear highly flexible rotor by using neural networks. This procedure was developed aiming at improving the performance of classical balancing methods, which are developed in the context of linearity between acting forces and resulting displacements and are not well adapted to these situations. In this paper a fully experimental procedure using neural networks is implemented for dealing with the adaptive balancing of nonlinear rotors. The nonlinearity results from the large displacements measured due to the high flexibility of the foundation. A neural network based meta-model was developed to represent the system. The initialization of the learning procedure of the network is performed by using the influence coefficient method and the adaptive balancing strategy is prone to converge rapidly to a satisfactory solution. The methodology is tested successfully experimentally.

신편제종교장총록의 저록에 관한 연구 (A study on the entry of [Sinpyon-jejong-kyojang-chonglok])

  • [Sinpyon-jejong-kyojang-chonglok] is a bibliography and subject catalog, called [Sokjangkyoung-catalog], which was introduced in Coryo dynasty. It was developed by [Degakguksa Yuichun] in 11th century(1090) and holds an important feature in Korean cataloging history as well as in the world cataloging history as the first [Sokjangkyoung-catalog]. This study investigates the entry description of [Kyojang-chonglok] and analyzes it in the contemporary perspective of Cataloging Rules. The study has found that the [Kyojang-chonglok] Follows the 'title main entry method'. Since the modern a n.0, pproach a n.0, pplies direct method which utilizes title, rather than indirect method which utilizes author name, we could safely assume that [Kyojang-chonglok] follows the modern principles such as standardization of cataloging and unification of bibliographical description. We could also extend our findings to conclude that [Sinpyon-jejong-kyojang-chonglok] created a foundation for modern 'title main entry system' such as ISBD and KCR3. Also, the bibliographical description of [Kyojang-chonglok] meets the conditions of B. S. Wyner, shown in the below. 1) logicality 2) flexibility 3) quickness 4) compactness 5) economic

  • In this paper, we formulated algorithm for free vibration analysis of cylindrical shells with stiffeners by applying the transfer influence coefficient method. This was developed as a vibration analysis method suitable for using personal computer(PC). The simple computational results form PC demonstrated the validity of the present algorithm, that is, the computational high accuracy and speed, and the flexibility of programming. We compared with results of the transfer matrix method and the reference. We also confirmed that the present algorithm could provide the solutions of high accuracy for system with a lots of intermediate rigid supports and stiffeners.   • 탄성지반위에 놓여진 평판은 일반적으로 유한요소법을 이용하여 해석할 수 있다. 그러나 Boussinesq의 이론에 근거한 지반의 유연도 행렬을 계산하는 것에 약간의 어려움이 있다. 본 연구에서는 원형 면적에 등분포하는 하중으로 인해 발생하는 수직 처짐에 대한 해석 결과를 이용하는 효과적인 수치해석과정을 제시한다 예제를 통하여 수치적분기법에 의한 결과 또는 소영역분할기법에 의한 방법보다 개선된 결과가 얻어짐을 제시한다.

  • A plate on the elastic half-space may generally be analyzed by the finite element method. However, there are some difficulties to obtain the flexibility matrix of the foundation based on the Boussinesq's theory. In this study, an efficient numerical procedure which uses the analysis results of the vertical displacements due to the uniformly distributed loading in a circular area is presented. Some numerical examples represent better results than those of numerical integration technique or subsection method especially in the case of irregular mesh pattern.
