${\cdot}$粘塑性構成式을 使用한 粘性土地盤의 變形解析 (An Analysis on the Deformation of Clayey Foundation Using Elasto-Viscoplastic Model)

  • This study aims at predicting the behavior of saturated soft clayey foundation subjected to earth structure loads such as tidal dike, embankment etc. by using Biot's consolidation equation coupled with elasto-viscoplastic constitutive model. To validate the computer program developed b author, a case study was performed for the site of Kwang-yang steel works improved by sand drain, where since the beginning of the works, field measurements(settlement, lateral displacement and excess pore water pressure) had been accurately achieved. Comparisons between numerical results and observation values were carried out. The main results obtained are summarized as follows : 1. Settlement and lateral displacement between numerical and observation values show satisfactory accordance. 2. As for the exess pre water pressure, numerical results appear to be larger than observation values, which may be due to the existence of sand seams which were not found during soil investigation. 3. Useful data available for failure prediction of soft foundation can be secured by examining lateral displacement, settlement, exess pore water pressure and stress paths.

Tunnel 상부지반의 기초 지지력과 침하에 관한 연구 (The study on the bearing capacity and settlement of a foundation placed over a tunnel)

  • When a foundation on the ground with tunnel is constructed, the ultimate bearing capacity of a footing is reduced by tunnel. In practice, structure may bate a considerable damage because of large settlement. This study shows that the settlement which is caused by variety of the ultimated bearing capacity leads fatal damages to the footing above tunnel. Therefore, it is necessary to study on the reduction both of the ultimate bearing capacity which leads a failure and of tolerable settlement which satisfies the safety of the building. For this reason, the variety of ultimated bearing capacity was analyzed using tub-dimensional elasto-plastic finite difference method in this paper. As a result, bearing capacity of the foundation above tunnel should be determined after establishing limit of allowable settlement and considering reduction-ratio of bearing capacity.

  • In this study, a circular and indoor soil tank foundation was manufactured to study the improvement according to the degree of turbulence arising from PBD penetration, using the existing plate-type shoe and improved V-type shoe to change the degree of turbulence. Furthermore, to study the foundation improvement effect, the strength, settlement speed in the turbulence area were compared according to the shoe penetration. The results of the study showed that the V-type shoe reduced the strength coefficient decrease effect, and the foundation improvement effect according to the degree of turbulence was identified.

Bearing capacity of foundation on rock mass depending on footing shape and interface roughness

  • The aim of this paper was to study the influence of the footing shape and the effect of the roughness of the foundation base on the bearing capacity of shallow foundations on rock masses. For this purpose the finite difference method was used to analyze the bearing capacity of various types and states of rock masses under the assumption of Hoek-Brown failure criterion, for both plane strain and axisymmetric model, and considering smooth and rough interface. The results were analyzed based on a sensitivity study of four varying parameters: foundation width, rock material constant (mo), uniaxial compressive strength and geological strength index. Knowing how each parameter influences the bearing capacity depending on the footing shape (circular vs strip footing) and the footing base interface roughness (smooth vs rough), two correlation factors were developed to estimate the percentage increase of the ultimate bearing capacity as a function of the footing shape and the roughness of the footing base interface.

Discovery Elbow System arthroplasty polyethylene bearing exchange: outcomes and experience

  • Background: The Discovery Elbow System (DES) utilizes a polyethylene bearing within the ulnar component. An exchange bearing requires preoperative freezing and implantation within 2 minutes of freezer removal to allow insertion. We report our outcomes and experience using this technique. Methods: This was an analysis of a two-surgeon consecutive series of DES bearing exchange. Inclusion criteria included patients in which exchange was attempted with a minimum 1-year follow-up. Clinical and radiographic review was performed 1, 2, 3, 5, 8 and 10 years postoperative. Outcome measures included range of movement, Oxford Elbow Score (OES), Mayo Elbow Performance Score (MEPS), complications and requirement for revision surgery. Results: Eleven DESs in 10 patients were included. Indications were bearing wear encountered during humeral component revision (n=5); bearing failure (n=4); and infection treated with debridement, antibiotics and implant retention (DAIR; n=2). Bearing exchange was conducted on the first attempt in 10 cases. One case required a second attempt. One patient developed infection postoperatively managed with two-stage revision. Mean follow-up of the bearing exchange DES was 3 years. No further surgery was required, with no infection recurrence in DAIR cases. Mean elbow flexion-extension and pronosupination arcs were 107°(±22°) and 140° (±26°). Mean OES was 36/48 (±12) and MEPS was 83/100 (±19). Conclusions: Our results support the use of DES bearing exchange in cases of bearing wear with well-fixed stems or acute infection. This series provides surgeons managing DES arthroplasty with management principles, successful and reproducible surgical techniques and expected clinical outcomes in performing DES polyethylene bearing exchange. 상수도 시설물의 지진 취약도 (Study on Seismic Fragility Analysis of Water Supply Facilities)

  • 본 연구에서는 상수도시설물에 대해 손상단계를 기능수행과 붕괴방지로 나누고, 해외실측지진과 한반도형 인공지진에 대해 각각의 최대지반가속도에 따른 취약도 함수를 도출하였다. 손상단계 및 지반가속도를 이용하여 상수도시설물의 지진파에 따른 취약도 곡선을 도출하여 비교분석하였다. 해석결과, 도복장강관과 덕타일 주철관에 한반도형인공지진을 재하하는 경우, 해외실측지진을 재하하는 경우에 비하여 중앙값이 최소 0.1에서 최대 0.4까지 작아지는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구에서 제안된 한반도형 인공지진을 이용한 지진취약도 곡선은 국내실정에 맞는 합리적인 내진 설계에 활용될 수 있을 것이다.

유상관 파양류형에 의한 얕은 기초의 신뢰도 해석 (System Reliability Analysis of a Shallow Foundation using Correlated Failure Modes)

  • 철근 콘크리트 얕은 기초 구조물의 파괴유형을 지반에 대해서는 지지력(BCM), 여밀 침하량 (CSM), R.C. slab에 대해서는 moment (MFM) 및 사인장 전단파괴(PCM) 등의 유형으로 설정하였다. 그런데, 이 4개의 서로 다른 유형에는 작용되는 하중 기초의 폭 및 깊이가 공통으로 입력되는 설계변수들이므르, 이 공통 설계변수들이 차지는 파괴영역을 고려하여 system reliability를 해석하 는 방법을 제시하였다. 또한 제시된 방법에 의해 대표적인 얕은 기초 구조물에 대한 신뇌도를 해석 한 바, 1. 단-거훈함수에 대한 신뢰지수는 CSM이 가장 낮고, 가장 안정한 상태는 PCM이었으며, BCM 및 MFM의 파괴확률은 유사하고 CSM과 PSM의 중간 정도였다. 2. 유상관 파괴유형에 대해서는, 이계법에 의한 윤독지수의 범익가 일계법에 비해서 러 쫍고 그 하한치가 더 크게 평여된다. 따라서, 구조물에 대한 통체적인 신뇌도는 파괴유형들 사이의 공분산 이 고려된 이계법으로 해석해야 과소허가될 위험이 없음을 알았다.

원커팅 철근보강 PHC 말뚝의 속채움 콘크리트 부착파괴 성능 (Slip Failure Strength of Infilled Concrete with Reinforced PHC Pile by One-Cutting Method)

  • 말뚝두부와 기초판의 연결방법으로서 기존의 강선남김방식은 시공성이 좋지 않고, 말뚝두부에 파손 및 균열이 발생할 가능성이 높을 뿐만 아니라 현장 인명사고가 자주 발생하여 최근에는 대안적인 방법으로서 원커팅에 의한 철근보강 방식이 제안되어 사용되고 있다. 하지만 이러한 방법들은 역학적인 성능규명에 의하여 그 상세가 구체적으로 제안 또는 검증된 사례가 없다. 이 연구는 원커팅 철근보강 방식에 있어서 최적 보강상세를 제안 할 목적으로 후 타설된 말뚝 내 속채움 콘크리트와 말뚝간의 전단마찰 저항력의 부족으로 인한 파괴를 실험을 통하여 규명하고, 적정 채움 깊이를 제안하였다. 실험결과에 근거하여 말뚝 부착파괴 강도를 안전측의 값으로 0.4MPa를 가정한다면, 부착파괴 이전에 철근이 항복에 도달하도록 하기 위해서 속채움 콘크리트의 깊이는 최소한 PHC 450과 PHC 500의 경우 600mm 이상, PHC 600의 경우 1,000mm 이상 확보하여야 할 것으로 판단된다.

Stochastic Properties of Life Distribution with Increasing Tail Failure Rate and Nonparametric Testing Procedure

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to investigate the tail behavior of the life distribution which exhibits an increasing failure rate or other positive aging effects after a certain time point. Methods: We characterize the tail behavior of the life distribution with regard to certain reliability measures such as failure rate, mean residual life and reliability function and derive several stochastic properties regarding such life distributions. Also, utilizing an L-statistic and its asymptotic normality, we propose new nonparametric testing procedures which verify if the life distribution has an increasing tail failure rate. Results: We propose the IFR-Tail (Increasing Failure Rate in Tail), DMRL-Tail (Decreasing Mean Residual Life in Tail) and NBU-Tail (New Better than Used in Tail) classes, all of which represent the tail behavior of the life distribution. And we discuss some stochastic properties of these proposed classes. Also, we develop a new nonparametric test procedure for detecting the IFR-Tail class and discuss its relative efficiency to explore the power of the test. Conclusion: The results of our research could be utilized in the study of wide range of applications including the maintenance and warranty policy of the second-hand system.

지진하중 및 교량구조물의 확률적 특성을 고려한 받침손상위험도 분석 (Bearing Damage Analysis of Bridges Considering the Probabilistic Characteristics of Earthquake and Structural Properties)

  • The risk of bearing failure is evaluated through the seismic response analysis of a bridge considering the probabilistic characteristics of structural properties such as the mass of superstructure, the stiffness of pier, and the translational and rotational stiffness of the foundation as well as seismic loadings during the bridge service lift. The effect of pounding between adjacent vibration units on the risk of bearing failure is also investigated. The probabilistic characteristics of structural properties are obtained by the Monte Carlo simulations based on the probabilistic characteristics of basic random variables included in the structural properties. From the simulation results, the failure probability of fixed bearings attached on the abutment is found to be much higher than those placed on the piers. It is also found that the pounding effect significantly increases the failure probability of bearings. In the simply supported bridges, the risk of bearing failure increases as the number of bridge spans increase. Therefore, the failure probability of fixed bearing due to the effects of pounding phenomena and the number of bridge spans should be considered in the seismic desist of bearings.
