  • We propose in the present work how the reference glass dosimeters can be introduced, which reflects the user irradiation condition. The reference glass dosimeters are used for correcting the reader fluctuation by reading it with sample glass dosimeters at the same time. Since they can be used without annealing after irradiation for long periods, one should consider both the fading effect and the natural background dose accumulation quantitatively. We construct an empirical but practical formalism of evaluating the absorbed dose on the glass dosimeter with the fading effect and the natural background dose accumulation considered.

  • On the basis of the review of radiobiological date, a formalism is developed for the analysis and prediction of iso-effect relations for tissue tolerance, which can be used as an alternative to the norminal standard dose(NSD) formaula of Ellis and its derived equations. An important feature of the described formalism is that directly based on radiobiological insights and it provides a more logical concept to account for the diversity of tissue responses. The NSD concept has subsequently been extended to the formalisms of timedose-fractionation(TDF) value. The authors deriveded TDF equation on the basis NSD of Ellis. TDF=0.07(NSD)-26.

  • This paper presents the formal integration of process planning and shop floor control with Petri net formalism. Formal integration means that both planning and control problems can be modeled, interfaced, and transformed with the Petri net formalism. This integrated framework provides a systematic approach for rapidly developing a formal shop floor controller from process planning with respect to shop floor configuration.

  • A formalism of reference language and homogeneous field is constructed for Iverson Language to organize a virtual file among external media. To execute some data manipulations among these external media files must be organized homogeneously forming multi-dimensional array like single media. This paper shows some organization of reference language to build the virtual file using many external media and some examples of program and hardware organization is presented for the justification of proposals.

  • Honorific forms express the speaker's social attitude to others and also indicate the social ranks and level of intimacy of the participants in the discourse. In a cross-linguistic perspective of grammar engineering, modelling honorification has been regarded as a key strategy for improving language processing applications. Using the HPSG and MRS formalism, this article provides a multilingual grammar model of honorification. The present study incorporates the honorific information into the Meaning Representation System (MRS) via Individual Constraints (ICONS), and then conducts an evaluation to see if the model contributes to semantics-based language processing.

  • Zeigler's DEVS(Discrete Event Systems Specification) formalism supports formal specification of discrete event systems in a hierarchical , modular manner. Associated are hierarchical, distributed simulation algorithms, called abstract simulators, which interpret dynamics of DEVS models. This paper deals with performance evaluation of P-DEVSIM ++, a parallel simulation environment which implements the DEVS formalism and associated simulation algorithms in a parallel environment. Performance simulator has been developed and used to experiment models of parallel simulation executions in different conditions. The experimental result shows that simulation time depends on both the number of processors in the parallel system and the communication overheads among such processors.

  • Proposed in this paper is a modeling and simulation methodology for a virtual manufacturing environment. Based on DEVS formalism[Zeigler 76], the proposed model, so called GKDEVS, is designed to descript the geometrical knematic structure as well as event-driven and continuous state dynamics. In terms of abstract simulation algorithm[Zeigler 84], the simulation method of GKDEVS is proposed for combined discrete-continuous simulation. Using the GKDEVS, and FMS model consisting of a turing machine, a 3-axis machine and a RGV-mounted robot is constructed and simulated.

  • The reaction path Smoluchowski equation approach developed in a recent work to calculate the rate constant for a diffusive multidimensional barrier crossing process is extended to incorporate the configuration-dependent diffusion matrix. The resulting formalism is then applied to the investigation of stilbene photoisomerization dynamics. Adapting a model two-dimensional potential and a model diffusion matrix proposed by Agmon and Kosloff [J. Phys. Chem.,91 (1987) 1988], we derive an eigenvalue equlation for the relaxation rate constant of the stilbene photoisomerization. This eigenvalue equation is solved numerically by using the finite element method. The advantages and limitations of the present method are discussed.
