야영객(野營客)의 삼림자원(森林資源)에 대한 심리자세(心理姿勢)와 자아실현(自我實現) (The Understanding of the Forest Campers' Attitudes and Their Self-Actualization in Relation to Quality of Forest Resources)

  • 본(本) 연구(硏究)는 삼림(森林) 야영객(野營客)의 자아실현(自我實現)과 자연(自然)에 대(對)한 심리태도(心理態度)가 그들이 야영(野營)했던 삼림(森林)의 질(質)과 어떠한 연관(聯關)이 있는가를 조사(調査)하였다. 야영객(野營客)의 자아실현(自我實現) 수준(水準)과 그들이 가진 자연(自然)에 대(對)한 심리태도(心理態度)의 연관(聯關)도 조사(調査)되었다. 자료(資料)는 1988년 9월부터 1989년 8월까지 3개의 온타리오 주립공원 야영객(野營客)을 상대(相對)로 수집(蒐集)되었다. 138,317명의 야영객(野營客)중 540명을 무작위(無作爲) 추출(抽出)하여 우편(郵便)을 통(通)한 설문조사를 실시(實施)하였다. 응답자(應答者)의 연령(年齡)은 15세에서 75세 까지였고 평균(平均) 약 37세였다. 그들은 고학력자(高學歷者)들이었고 도시(都市) 거주자(居住者)들이었다. 응답자(應答者)들의 자아실현(自我實現) 수준(水準)과 자연(自然)에 대한 심리태도(心理態度)는 그들이 야영(野營)한 지역(地域)의 삼림(森林)의 질(質)과 상관관계(相關關係)가 있었다. 그들의 자아실현(自我實現) 수준(水準)과 자연(自然)에 대한 심리태도(心理態度)도 역시(亦是) 긍정적(肯定的)인 관계(關係)가 있었다. 그러나 응답자(應答者)들의 자아실현(自我實現), 자연(自然)에 대(對)한 심리자세(心理姿勢) 그리고 삼림(森林)의 질(質)에 대한 상관관계(相關關係)를 동시(同時)에 처리(處理)한 결과(結果) 아무런 유의성(有意性)이 발견(發見)되지 않았다.

Meteorological Determinants of Forest Fire Occurrence in the Fall, South Korea

  • Forest fires have potentials to change the structure and function of forest ecosystems and significantly influence on atmosphere and biogeochemical cycles. Forest fire also affects the quality of public benefits such as carbon sequestration, soil fertility, grazing value, biodiversity, or tourism. The prediction of fire occurrence and its spread is critical to the forest managers for allocating resources and developing the forest fire danger rating system. Most of fires were human-caused fires in Korea, but meteorological factors are also big contributors to fire behaviors and its spread. Thus, meteorological factors as well as social factors were considered in the fire danger rating systems. A total of 298 forest fires occurred during the fall season from 2002 to 2006 in South Korea were considered for developing a logistic model of forest fire occurrence. The results of statistical analysis show that only effective humidity and temperature significantly affected the logistic models (p<0.05). The results of ROC curve analysis showed that the probability of randomly selected fires ranges from 0.739 to 0.876, which represent a relatively high accuracy of the developed model. These findings would be necessary for the policy makers in South Korea for the prevention of forest fires.

제주 삼다수 숲길 주변 대기질의 음이온 탐색 (Searching for Anions in the Aerosol around Jeju Samdasu Forest Environments)

  • 배경: 여러 연구에서 숲에서는 음이온이 많이 존재하는 것으로 보고되었나, 제주 삼다수 숲지역의 연구가 없어서 수행하였다. 목적: 본 연구에서는 제주 삼다수 숲 지역의 대기질의 음이온 수를 측정하여 비교 분석하는 것이 목적이었다. 방법: 삼다수 숲 지역의 17개 지점을 정해서 대기질의 음이온 수를 음이온측정기로 측정하였다. 결과: 제주 삼다수 지역의 17개 지점에서 측정한 음이온 수의 평균치는 719.7 ions/cm3, 평균 온도는 25.2℃, 평균 습도는 80.9%, 평균고도는 503 m, 그리고 평균 풍속은 0.6 m/sec이었다. 대기질의 음이온 수의 함량을 순서로 보면, 제일 높은 곳은 폭포-입구-코스R- B코스-소나무숲-코스출구-출구습지 순으로 나타났다. 채집지점의 고도는 제일 높은 지점은 소나무숲-코스R-코스출구-폭포-B코스-출구습지-입구 순이었다. 고도의 차이는 통계적으로 유의성이 있었다. 해발고도와 음이온 함량간의 상관관계는 없는 것으로 나타나 대기질은 수시로 변동됨을 알 수가 있었다. 결론: 삼다수 숲에는 다량의 음이온이 대기질 중에 함유된 것을 확인하였다. 따라서 삼다수 숲길은 숲 체험의 장소로서 적합한 지역이라 생각된다. 아울러 음이온의 함량이 높은 제주지역 숲길 탐방은 인간의 건강관리에 유익한 조건을 갖추었다고 평가한다.

Long-term Ecological Research Programme in Forestry Research Institute, Korea

  • Forest vegetation in Korea can be largely divided into warm temperate, cool temperate and frigid forest zone. The cool temperate forest zone of them occupies the largest part of the Korean peninsula and it is generally divided into three subdivisions such as northern, central and southern subzone. The Forestry Research Institute established three long-term ecological research sites at Kwangnung Experiment Forest in the central subzone of the cool temperate forest zone, at the Mt. Kyebangsan Forest in the northern subzone of the cool temperate forest zone. and at the Mt. Keumsan Forest in the warm temperate forest zone. The objectives of long-term ecological research in the Forestry Research Institute, Korea are to study long-term changes of the forest ecosystems in energy fluxes, water and nutrient cycling, forest stand structure, biological diversity, to quantify nutrient budgets and fluxes among forest ecosystem compartments and to integrate ecological data with a GIS - assisted model. To achieve the objectives, forest stand dynamics. environmental changes in soil properties, stream water quality, nutrient cycling, air pollution and biological diversity have been investigated and plant phonology as an indicator of climate change has been monitored in the LTER sites.

Effect of Wood Material Type on Biocide Retention and Distribution Using Supercritical Fluid Impregnation

  • The effect of wood material type on biocide retention and distribution during supercritical fluid impregnation was assessed using three different wood types including solid wood, plywood and oriented strand board (OSB). The result revealed that biocide treatability differed with structural composition and permeability of the various materials. Low treatability of plywood might be attributed to interferences of glue line limiting fluid movement. OSB samples showed higher biocide retentions, resulting from the presence of interconnecting gaps permitting more open flow.

Effect of Carbonization Temperature on Hygric Performance of Carbonized Fiberboards

  • Increases of public attention on healthy environment lead to the regulation of indoor air quality such as Clean Healthy House Construction Standard. This standard covers emission of total volatile organic compounds (TVOCs) (e.g., formaldehyde, benzene, and toluene), ventilation, and use of environmentally-friendly products or functional products. Moisture absorption and desorption abilities are a recommended functionality for improving indoor air quality. In this study, moisture absorption and desorption capacities of carbonized board from wood-based panels and other materials were determined by using UNT-HEAT-01 according to ISO 24358:2008. Pine had higher moisture absorption and desorption capacities ($49.0g/m^2$ and $35.3g/m^2$, respectively) than hinoki cypress, cement board, gypsum board, oriented strand board, and medium density fiberboard (MDF). The moisture absorption and desorption capacities differed considerably according to the wood species. After carbonization process at $400^{\circ}C$, the absorption and desorption ability of MDF increased to 38% and 60%, respectively. However, moisture absorption and desorption capacities decreased with increasing carbonization temperature, but they were still higher than original MDF. Therefore, it is suggested that carbonization below $600^{\circ}C$ can improve moisture absorption/desorption capacities.

사회취약계층의 숲체험교육 질적향상 방안을 위한 중요도-만족도 분석 (Importance-Performance Analysis for the Quality Improvement of Forest Experience Education for Vulnerable Social Groups)

  • This study aimed to improve the level of satisfaction and service quality of a forest experience education program for vulnerable social groups by administering a survey problems of the program and suggested improvements. 428 participants in the program. Reliability analysis of the survey yielded values of, Cronbach's α value was higher than 0.8 for all items, indicating very high reliability. Importance-performance analysis (IPA), a method of measuring and comparing the degree of satisfaction, found two factors: "first need for correction" which included "diversity of programs" and "professionalism of programs"; and "the need for sustained effort" which included "benefits of programs", "the role of program instructors" and "the interest of programs". Previously, forest experience education focused on programs involving base expansion and promotion, or quantitative expansion education. Therefore, this study is meaningful in providing basic data on forest experience education for vulnerable social groups.

산지(山地) 시비(施肥)에 관(關)한 고찰(考察) (Prospects and Effect of Forest Fertilization)

  • Decrease of the planting area reduced fertilized area of forest. To accomplish the aims of natural regeneration, mini-rotation plantation, diminishing the rotation length, maintaining healthy forest and production of good quality timber, forest fertilization should be continued. In order to improve the deteriorate situation, slow-release fertilizer applied on top soil needs to be developed and aerial application will give diminished cost. Fertilization with tending before tree felling in forest will increase the effect of fertilizer more, Proper quantity of fertilizer by tree species and soil fertility should be found out in the future, Street trees, environmental forest near city and ornamental trees in the residential areas could be also included in this field.

자연 휴양림 내 건축물의 시각적 영향에 관한 연구 - 조령산자연휴양림을 대상으로 - (A Study on the Visual Effect of Building in the Recreation Forest - The Case of Joryongsan Recreation Forest -)

  • The aim of this study was to explain the relationship between the landscape organization and evaluating factors to harmonize the buildings with natural landscape using the landscape simulation models (near view less than $100{\cal}m$) controled the distance and obtain some knowledges about the introduction of buildings into the recreation forest. Through this study, the results were summarized as follow ;1) As the distance got to be near, the evaluation of comprehensive scenery and natural quality became low. 2) At the view points according to the distance the clear landscape organization showed a high value of scenery in comparison with the simple landscape organization, 3) As the coniferous forest showed more high value in comparison with the deciduous forest, the forest type surrounding cottage is important factor evaluating the landscape in the recreation forest area.

  • This article is composed of three parts in this article. The first part reviews, in the general, condition on Chinese forest resource history and analyzes the change in different historical times. The present condition and existing problems are discussed in the second part, where analyzes the existing problems in different distribution areas. In the third part, the solutions are raised to solve the problems mentioned in the second part. Finally the objective and strategy for sustainable development of Chinese forest resources are put forward.
