사물인터넷시대의 유학생의 국내대학 적응을 위한 KSL 교과과정과 ESL 교과과정 비교 (Comparison of KSL Curriculum and ESL Curriculum for Adaptation of International Students in the Internet of Things era to Domestic Universities)

  • 본 연구에서는 4차산업으로 인해 미래교육으로 교육들이 전화되고 있는 시대에 유학생들이 한국에 적응하여 정착시키기 위해 한국어 교육 과정의 보완이 필요하다. 유학생들이 접하는 KFL(Korean as a Foreign Language)상황에서 한국어 교육 프로그램의 유학생 적응에 대한 문화 적응 스트레스 요인 중 하나인 언어 능력 부족으로 인해 의사소통에 문제로 대학 수학에서 어려움을 겪는다. 이 문제를 해결하기 위한 영어권 국가의 ESL프로그램과 한국의 KSL프로그램을 분석하여 유학생들에게 목적을 달성하기위한 교육 목표, 교과과정, 교육방법을 설정하고 커리큘럼과 학습 과정을 수립 하고자 하였다. 따라서 한국어 교육과정 내에 있는 외국인 유학생을 위한 한국어 교육 프로그램(KSL프로그램)도 영어권 국가의 교육과정에 ESL프로그램의 정확한 목표설정과 대학졸업과 연계하는 장점을 받아들여 보완해야 한다. 또한 유학생들의 한국어 학습을 위해서 4차산업 시대에 맞는 IT를 활용한 한국어교육 통합 과정 및 관리 시스템이 필요하다.

Technology Odyssey: An Introductory Engineering Course based on Soft Engineering

  • We propose and execute an introductory engineering course for investigating the history of technology and the philosophy of technology. Soft engineering, to explore proper technology and appropriate ways of exercising engineering, has been explored. Creative cases for technology are presented following the most creative, successful periods-the ancient greece, the Renaissance and Silicon Valley era. Ancient greek technology has been investigated in terms of "techne" with the origin of technology and/or art, and their equivalences. The Renaissance period has been investigated in terms of "Uomo universale (polymath)" with Firenze geniuses. The successful drives for the Silicon Valley creativeness have been investigated following "entrepreneurship". To overcome the difficult goal to grasp course subject-technology issues, we take a stance as a tourist guide and tourists utilizing offline onsite experiences and online informations. Categorized course materials are surveyed at the beginning of each period and presented following the preferences of the students to maintain the students' interests. Team efforts including group discussions and project executions have been encouraged to seek the aspects of creativeness and/or technology. This paper summarizes the 3-lecture experiences over 2 years for Korean students and/or foreign students conducted at Pusan National University.

외국인 학부생을 위한 바꿔 쓰기 교육의 효과 (A Study on the Effects of Teaching Paraphrasing to Foreign University Students)

  • This research aims to evaluate the effects and the shortcomings of strategies for teaching paraphrasing to foreign university students. For this study, the effects of teaching paraphrasing skills on student's academic writing was investigated through the assessment of pre- and post-test writing tasks and through a focus group interview. The teaching of paraphrasing was divided into 3 instructional sessions and the focus group interview was conducted at the end of the last session. After each instructional session three trained assessors evaluated the outcomes of pre and post task writings; the in-depth focus group interviews were conducted on seven of the students in order to define better positive effects as well as shortcomings. By comparing the scores of pre- and post-task assignments it is possible to affirm that there is a meaningful difference for overall scores; moreover, in an analysis conducted on each single sub-element of the paraphrasing skill, it emerged that except for "task completion", all other four elements of "structure", "understanding core content", "change of expression" and "academic expressions" showed a statistically significant improvement in performance. On the other hand, as a result of the focus group interview, it was possible to individuate as main shortcomings insufficient vocabulary knowledge, poor overall comprehension of the reference material, lack of practice and difficulty in connect sentences organically. It is possible to consider these elements as limiting factors in understanding the reference material and making correct citations by the students. Therefore, we suggest as supplementary instructional strategies a deeper attention to the difficulty level of the text, the introduction of devices to understand better the content of the reference material and an integrated practice of the paraphrasing skill.

The Relationship between Information Distribution and Intention to Choose a University

  • Purpose: Research on the intention to choose a university has an important role for universities in enrollment. The information element is considered essential to help students have specific information before making their decisions. However, how to distribute this information appropriately is an issue that needs to be studied. Therefore, this study was conducted to evaluate the influence of information distribution on intention to choose a university. Research design, data, and methodology: The study showed a survey on 259 samples from first-year students at public universities in Vietnam. PLS-SEM model was performed to find out the relationship between information distribution and intention to choose a university. Result: The results show that information quality and information helpfulness positively impact on attitudes towards universities. Attitude towards university has a positive effect on the intention to choose a university. Conclusion: From the results of this study, the authors also make some recommendations to help universities have good communication policies to improve their ability to attract students to choose a university. Quality and helpful information will help universities to be able to attract students more effectively to enroll based on an effective communication strategy.

Consumer Affinity for Foreign Countries, Film Attendance, and Interest in Purchasing Products from Foreign Countries: An Exploratory Study of Korea and Ireland

  • A number of studies in recent years of have begun to look at the connection between country affinity (an interest in and admiration of a particular country) and a desire to buy the products and services of that country. Country affinity has been shown to be particularly important when consumers lack other sources of information about a good or service. However, except for direct questioning, methods to identify the affinity consumers might have for another country are lacking. This study examines the degree to which attending a movie set in a particular country will be related to an affinity for that country and possibly by extension the goods and services of that country. It is not the goal of this study to suggest that movies create the affinity, but rather that that the affinity will exist for viewers of the films. Two films set in Ireland and featuring Irish actors where shown to audiences composed of Korean students and a small number of Korean adults. As a point of comparison, students in two introductory consumer classes were also asked to complete a similar questionnaire. Four affinity factors were identified from a list of 17 items. Those who attended the historical drama showed a greater affinity for Ireland than those who attended the romantic musical. Affinity for Ireland among Koreans was also meaningful in predicting interest in purchasing Irish products.

국내 중국인 유학생의 구강건강관리행태에 따른 구강건강 삶의 질 (Oral health of Chinese students in Korea by behavior of oral care)

  • 구강건강 삶의 질에 영향을 미치는 구강건강관리행태를 파악하여 중국인 유학생의 구강건강 삶의 질을 향상시키기 위한 방안을 마련하고자 전북 소재 대학교 중국인 유학생 236명을 대상으로 2013년 4월 2일부터 5월 9일 동안 자기기입식 설문조사를 실시한 결과 65.3%가 1년 이내 치과내원 경험이 없었으며, 82.6%가 1년 이내 치석제거를 받지 않았고, 68.2%가 구강보건교육을 받은 적이 없는 것으로 나타났다. 일반적 특성에 따른 OHIP-14는 학년, 건강보험 가입여부, 유학생활 만족도에서 유의한 차이가 있었고(p<0.05), 구강건강관리행태에 따른 OHIP-14는 주관적인 구강건강상태, 1년 이내 치과내원 경험과 치석제거 경험에서 유의한 차이가 있었다(p<0.05). 구강건강 삶의 질에 영향을 주는 요인으로는 주관적인 구강건강 상태와 1년 이내 치석제거 경험으로 나타났다(p<0.05). 중국인 유학생들의 구강건강 문제 발생 시 의료기관의 편리한 이용을 위해 자국어 번역 안내서 및 의료 전문 통역자의 배치와 대학 차원에서 학교구강보건실의 운영 및 구강건강증진을 위해 실질적으로 도움이 되는 구강보건교육이 요구된다.

외국어능력 상대성취도지수개발에 관한 연구 (A Study on a Relative Achievement Index of Foreign Language Ability)

  • 각 개인이 현재 취득한 외국어 성적을 고려한 상대평가지수 두 가지를 제안하였다. 하나는, 만점까지 남아있는 점수 대비 일정기간 동안 성취한 점수의 상대비로 정의하였고, 다른 하나는 일정기간 동안 점수가 향상된 경우는 단측 상대성취도지수와 동일하게 계산하고, 점수가 퇴보한 경우는 초기점수에서 최저점수를 뺀 값 대비 일정기간동안 감소한 점수의 상대비로 정의하였다. 전자를 단측 상대성취도지수(one-side relative achievement index), 후자를 양측 상대성취도지수(two-side relative achievement index)라 명명하였다. 대체로 음의 성취도에 크게 영향을 받는 단측성취도지수에 비해 양측성취도지수는 변동 폭이 좁고 지수의 값이 -1과 1 사이의 값을 가지므로 해석이 보다 용이하다. 그러나 두 지수 모두 매우 예외적인 경우를 제외하고 대체로 비슷한 결과를 제시하며 총점이나 최고 최저점이 서로 다른 시험들을 동일한 기준으로 비교하는 데 용이한 것을 확인하였다.

The Effect of Peer Scaffolding on College Students' Writing Skills in EFL

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of peer scaffolding on the writing fluency of English language learners. This study was intended to confirm that peer scaffolding in English as a foreign language (EFL) writing classes can improve students' English proficiency. An analysis of 20 EFL learners studying at a university in Gyeonggi Province was conducted based on the English Proficiency Test. In this study, 20 intermediate learners with similar proficiency levels were included in the sample. Randomly, 10 students were designated as members of the control group, and 10 students were designated as members of the experimental group. In the experimental group, students practiced essay writing, while a skilled student provided scaffolding for a less skilled student. A variety of tools were used to gather data, including tests, questionnaires, and interviews Statistical analyses of quantitative data were conducted using t-tests for independent samples, whereas analyses of qualitative data were conducted based on themes. Pre-test results indicated a significant value of sig. =0.87, which was higher than α = 0.05. According to the results of this study, the writing performance of both experimental and control groups of students was equal and homogeneous prior to treatment. However, there were significant differences between the writing of students in the two groups after the completion of the program. Due to the post-test analysis of the writing test, the test resulted in a sig. =0 .043, a value lower than α = 0.05. As a result, the experimental group participants showed a marked improvement in their writing abilities after treatment.

통 문장 암기와 짝 활동을 통한 한국어말하기 향상 융합전략 (A Convergence Strategy of Improving Korean Speaking Skills through Memorizing Whole Sentence and Pair Works)

  • 이 논문에서는 외국학생들이 한국어를 배울 때 통 문장암기방법과 짝 활동이 말하기능력향상에 효과가 있는지를 알아보고자 했다. 먼저 통 문장암기방법에 대한 효과를 다루고 있는 논문의 선행연구를 살펴보았고, 이 연구에서 활용한 학습자의 활동은 주로 외국학생끼리 짝 활동이므로 이에 대한 방법을 설명하였다. 이 활동은 수업시간에 학습자의 한국어 사용빈도를 높이고자 시도했고, 동시에 학습자간에 지속적인 학습을 서로 돕도록 의도했다. 이 융합교수접근법에 힘입어 수업시간에 학습자들의 한국어 활용빈도가 크게 향상되었다. 이는 각 짝을 중국학생과 베트남학생으로 구성하였기 때문에 학습자들은 한국어를 사용할 수밖에 없었기 때문이었다. 이 활동을 통해 학습자들은 서로 격려하고 도움을 줌으로써 외국어학습을 지속적으로 하게하는 동기부여나 힘을 얻을 수 있었다고 설문과 인터뷰에서 밝혔다. 특히 설문조사에서 학생들은 이 융합교수법에 대해 참여 학습자 거의 모두가 만족했음을 보여주었다.

블렌디드 러닝(대면+비대면)수업에서 교수자 이미지가 학습몰입도 및 학습만족도에 미치는 영향 - 서울소재 H대학 뷰티전공 내·외국인학생 대상으로 - (Effects of professor's images on learning immersion and satisfaction in blended learning (face-to-face + non-face) classes - For Koreans and foreign students majoring in beauty at H University in Seoul -)

  • Due to the influence of COVID-19, many changes have been made in the education methods in universities. In respomse, this study intendsto present an efficient learning method by identifying the impact of professor images on learning immersion and the learning satisfaction of classes taught with blended learning for university students majoring in beauty at H University in Seoul. For final analysis, 232 of the 234 questionnaires administered from May 17, 2021 to June 2, 2021 were analyzed. For statistical analysis, SPSS 21.0 was utilized; frequency analysis was conducted to identify demographic characteristics, factor analysis was used to verify the research model, and regression analysis was conducted to verify the hypothesis. First, images of professors have been shown to affect learning immersion. Second, the professor image were shown to affect learning satisfaction. Third, education immersion has been shown to affect educational satisfaction. In order to overcome the limitations of online lectures in universities that suddenly began with onset of COVID-19, it is believed that students' satisfaction can be increased by applying blended learning as a way to improve the quality of classes.
