발전 속의 저발전: 싱가포르 동남아연구 발전사 (Development and Underdevelopment: Southeast Asian Studies in Singapore)

  • Southeast Asian studies in Singapore has had a problem with locating local scholarship from the outset. The initiation of English-track scholarship was done by British scholars while Chinese scholars in the beginning were not considered as local people but as sojourners who identified China as their fatherland. If the latter had successfully located their scholarship in the post-colonial environment of Singapore, the job of identifying local scholarship would have been much easier. Indeed, for some time in the 1960s-70s, there existed a relatively strong local scholarship that was based mainly at Nanyang University. However, they became marginalized as English became dominant not just in education but also in Singapore society. Unlike the Chinese-track scholarship, the English-track scholarship in Singapore has developed greatly over the years. The establishment of ISEAS was the crystallized form of Singapore's endeavors to develop a Singapore brand of Southeast Asian studies to the world. Alongside ISEAS, NUS has carried on the English-track Southeast Asian studies and become a world-class university in this academic field. The formation of the Southeast Asian Programme and ARI marked a cornerstone for NUS in advancing Southeast Asian studies. However, Singaporean scholarship continues to be weak in comparison to foreign scholarship. In the absence of strong local scholarship, the typical way in which Singapore has chosen to develop Southeast Asian studies has been to establish world-class institutes and to bring in foreign talents. This strategy has perhaps paid off since it has situated Singapore as the prime place where scholars gather, information goes around and quality research outcomes are published. However, whether or not it has strengthened local scholarship remains a controversial issue. The dominant contribution of foreign scholars continues to pose the problem of whether the ownership of Southeast Asian studies in Singapore belongs to Singapore itself. The identification of scholarship in Singapore is an unsettled matter.

외국인 모델의 매력도와 외국어 사용의 상호작용 효과 (The Interaction Effect of Foreign Model Attractiveness and Foreign Language Usage)

  • 현재 한국시장의 광고에는 외국인 모델과 외국어를 사용하는 것이 일반적이다. 그러나 그 효과에 대한 검증은 거의 이루어지지 않고 있다. 기존의 연구에 의하면 마케팅 커뮤니케이션과 소비자의 문화적 가치가 일치하게 될 때 커뮤니케이션의 효과가 높아진다고 한다. 즉, 광고에의 외국문화 사용은 기존 연구에서 주장하고 있는 바와는 반대의 현상인 것이다. 그러나 인터넷 등 글로벌 매체에 의해 글로벌 문화가 출현함에 따라 마케팅 커뮤니케이션과 소비자의 문화적 가치가 일치하는 것이 가장 바람직한 커뮤니케이션 방법이라 볼 수는 없다. 이에 본 연구는 외국인 모델을 사용하는 광고에 있어서 모델의 매력도와 외국어 사용이 소비자의 광고와 제품에 대한 태도, 구매의도 등에 어떤 영향을 미치는가를 살펴보고 효과적인 광고 커뮤니케이션에 대한 제언을 하고자 했다. 연구결과, 광고에 사용된 언어와 광고의 시각적 단서인 모델 매력도는 광고의 효과에 상호작용 효과를 나타내는 것이 밝혀졌다. 광고에 사용된 모델 매력도가 높은 경우, 제품에 대한 태도, 구매의도가 사용된 언어에 대해 유의한 차이를 보이지 않았다. 광고에 사용된 모델의 매력도가 낮은 경우에는 영어를 사용한 경우가 제품에 대한 태도, 구매의도가 높았다. 즉, 외국인 모델을 광고에 사용할 경우, 그 모델의 매력도의 높고 낮음에 따라 광고에 사용되는 언어를 선택함으로써 광고의 효과를 조절할 수 있다는 실무적 시사점을 제공한다.

기업 연상이 기업신뢰와 기업태도에 미치는 영향: 기업유형 비교를 중심으로 (The Effects of the Corporate Association on Corporate Trust and Attitude: Focusing on Comparison of Corporate Type)

  • 본 연구는 기업 연상이 기업태도에 영향을 미치는데 있어 신뢰의 매개역할을 고찰하고 있다. 특히 본 연구자들은 신뢰의 차원을 전문성 신뢰와 호의성 신뢰로 구분하고, 이러한 두 가지 신뢰가 감정적 신뢰를 매개로 기업태도에 미치는 효과를 고찰하였다. 분석결과, 기업 능력 연상은 전문성 신뢰에, 사회적 책임 연상은 호의성 신뢰에 각각 정(+)의 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났으며, 기업 유형별로 분석한 결과에서도 국내 기업과 해외 기업 모두에서 '기업 능력 연상 ${\rightarrow}$ 전문성 신뢰', '사회적 책임 연상 ${\rightarrow}$ 호의성 신뢰' 두 경로 간에 긍정적인 관계를 확인할 수 있었다. 그리고 이러한 전문성 신뢰와 호의성 신뢰는 감정적 신뢰에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 그러나 기업유형별 추가분석 결과에 의하면, 전문성 신뢰는 기업태도에 긍정적인 영향을 미칠 것으로 예측을 하였으나, 이러한 경로결과는 해외기업의 경우에만 유의하게 나타났다. 끝으로 기업의 유형에 관계없이, 기업에 대한 감정적 신뢰가 형성되면, 해당 기업에 대한 태도에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 결과적으로 소비자들이 기업에 대해 연상을 하고 이러한 연상으로 인하여 해당 기업에 대한 전문성 신뢰와 호의성 신뢰를 형성하게 되며, 이러한 두 가지 신뢰는 해당 기업에 대한 감정적 신뢰를 유발하고, 나아가 기업태도로까지 이어짐을 확인할 수 있었다.

백화점 쇼핑경험 가치가 브랜드자산 및 점포충성도에 미치는 영향 (The Shopping Experience Values at Department Stores and Their Effects on the Brand Asset and the Store Loyalty)

  • 1990년대 중반 국내 유통시장 개방 이후 우리나라 소매업의 가장 큰 변화중의 하나는 외국계 할인점의 등장과 백화점의 급성장이라 할 수 있다. 할인점과 백화점은 우리나라 소매시장의 주류를 이루어온 재래시장이나 슈퍼마켓 중심으로 형성되어 온 유통산업구조 변화를 가지고 왔다. 소매업이 단순히 물건을 구매하는 장소개념에서 즐거움, 행복등 다양한 가치를 제공하는 공간으로 변하고 있다. 따라서 본 연구의 목적은 이론적 실증적 연구를 통해 백화점 쇼핑경험가치가 백화점 브랜드나 이미지에 그리고 충성도에 미치는 영향관계를 파악하는데 있다. 특히 독립변수인 쇼핑 경험가치를 심미성, 유희성, 소비자이익, 서비스 우수성으로 구분하여 내생변수인 브랜드인지도, 브랜드이미지와 최종변수인 점포충성도에 유의적인 영향관계가 있는지를 검증하였다. 국내에 거주하면서 백화점 이용경험이 있는 소비자들을 대상으로 252명을 설문 조사하여, 235명을 분석에 사용하였다. 실증분석은 SPSS 17.0K와 AMOS 17.0을 이용하여 공분산 구조분석을 실시하였다. 그 결과 쇼핑 경험가치중에서 소비자 이익을 제외한 변수에서 인지도와 이미지에 정의 영향관계가 있을 뿐만 아니라, 점포 충성도에 정의 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 따라서 이 연구를 통해서 백화점 고객들은 단순히 상품을 구매하기 위해서 백화점을 이용하는 것이 아니라, 즐거움과 행복이라는 가치를 얻기 위해서 백화점을 이용하고, 어떤 측면에서 이런 면들이 백화점 이미지나 인지도, 충성도에 더 큰 영향을 준다고 할 수가 있다.

유아(乳兒)의 체형특징(體形特徵)및 의류제품(衣類製品) 치수규격(規格)에 관(關)한 조사(調査) 연구(硏究) I (A Study of Somatotype Characteristics of Infants and Sizes Specifications of Apparel Products for Infants I)

  • This study was aimed at reviewing the preceding studies regarding infants' physical characteristics and comparatively examining their apparel specifications among countries, and thereupon, surveying the sizes and specifications of each special infant apparel brand in korea, and thereby, providing for the basic data useful to consumers when they choose infants' apparel sizes and specifications, and at the same time to brand makers for effective exchange of information. Thus, domestic special infant's apparel brands were surveyed for their own sizes and specifications, and thereby, the basic data useful to consumers when they choose their infants' apparel sizes and specifications as well as to brand makers when they exchange information among themselves were produced. The results of this study can summarized as follows: As a result of surveying the general trend of the infant apparel brands in korea, it was found that 5 brands had been established before 1990's, and that the remaining 7 ones had emerged during 1990's. When viewed in terms of brands' originality, it was disclosed that 10 brands were korean originals, while 2 brands were foreign ones licensed. On the other hand, as a consequence of surveying the target age groups of each brand, it was found that the targe age groups differed much ranging from 0 to 72 months or more narrowly from 12 to 24 months, which means that the infant age has yet to be defined for all the brands. In the case of the domestic infant-clothing product respect of inner wear, 8 clothing companies are producing the the outside clothing. In the outside clothing, from 6 months to 36 months' infant is the object, and 6m, 12m, 18m, 24m, 30m, 36m appeared with the fact that it produces in 6 sizes. In the case of the f and the g company which has the difference of size control is big, the f company is producing infant clothing for the age 0 to 72 months in 6 size which the difference of the measurement between the size is a lot to be appear, on the other hand, the g company is producing infant clothing for the age 0 to 6 months in 6 size which the difference of the measurement between the size is small to be appear.

Lessons from Haitai Distribution Inc's experience in Korea

  • Owing to the rapid growth of hypermarket/discount store formats since 1996, Korean retailing has suddenly attracted the significant attention from researchers. Before the emergence of large scale retailers such as E-Mart, Lotte Mart and Tesco Korea, there were the two retail formats who led the Korean retailing in the modern retailing history: department store and supermarket formats. Nevertheless, there has been little literature concerned about the two retail formats as a case study, while some authors have paid their attention to hypermarket/discount store formats. In addition, when mentioning the development process of retailing history, it is less likely that authors have made an effort to illustrate supermarket retailing history. In order to regard supermarket retailing as part of the Korean retailing, it is interesting to look at a representative supermarket retailer, Haitai, who was one of the subsidiaries of Haitai chaebol. Based on supermarket retailing, the company which was established as a joint venture in 1974 led a supermarket retailing in the Korean modernised retailing history. Before analysing whether Haitai failed or not, the definition of failure should be illustrated. With regard to the term, failure, in the academic world, authors have interchangeably used the following terms: failure, divestment, closure, organisational restructuring, and exit. To collect research data as a case study, the author adopted an in-depth interview method. The research is based on research interviews with 13 ex-staff who left after Haitai went bankruptcy, from store management department to merchandise department. By investigating Haitai's experiences through field interviews, the research found that Haitai restructured organisational decision-making process at the early stage when companies started to modernise organisational charts, benchmarking sophisticated retailing knowledge through the strategic alliance with a Japanese retailer. In respect of buying system, the company established firmly buying functions by adopting central buying system, and further, outstandingly allocated considerable marketing resources to the development of retailer brands with the dedicated team of retailer brand development. In the grocery retailing, abandoning a 'no-frill' packaging concept, the introduction of retailer brand packaging equal to, or better than national brand packaging design, encouraged other retailers to change their retailer brand development strategies. In product sourcing ways, Haitai organised for the first time the overseas sourcing team with the aim of improving the profit margins of foreign products and providing exotic products for customers, followed by other retailers. Regarding distribution system, the company introduced the innovative idea which delivered products ordered by stores directly to each store withboth its own vehicles and its own warehouse in which could deal with dry foods, chilly foods, frozen food, and non-foods, and even, process produce. In addition, Haitai developed many promotional methods to attract more customers like 'the guarantee of the lowest price', and expanded its own business to US in 1996, although withdrew, because of bankruptcy in 1997. Together with POS introduction in 1994, Haitai made a significant contribution to the development of the Korean retailing, influencing other retailers in many aspects. As a case study, the study has provided a number of lessons from Haitai's experiences for academicians and practitioners, suggesting that its history should be involved in the Korean modernised retailing.

애국심이 제품평가에 미치는 영향: 소비자 자민족중심주의의 매개효과를 중심으로 (Effects of Patriotism on Product Evaluation: Focused on the Mediating Effects of Consumer Ethnocentrism)

  • 본 연구에서는 애국심이 자국 및 외국 제품 평가에 미치는 영향을 실증적으로 분석하였다. 또한 애국심과 제품평가 간의 관계에 있어 소비자 자민족중심주의의 매개변수적 영향력을 분석하였다. 실증분석을 위해 서울 소재 대학에 재학 중인 학부생과 대학원생을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였다. 조사결과 애국심은 외국제품 평가에는 영향을 미치지 않는 것으로 나타났으나, 자국제품 평가에는 긍정적 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 소비자 자민족중심주의는 애국심과 자국제품 평가 간의 관계를 매개하는 것으로 나타났다. 실증분석 결과를 토대로 연구의 의의를 논하였으며, 유통관리 측면에서의 시사점을 제시하였다. 끝으로 연구의 한계점과 향후 연구방향을 제안하였다.

  • The development of foodservice franchise is inevitable in the developmental process of domestic foodservice industry and it has been led by some big enterprises and foreign brands, but foodservice franchise of a new and differential form will be rapidly developed. The success of franchise can be resulted under the recognition that franchiser and franchise are in the common fate as the partner. Franchisee must make its best efforts to enhance the unity and value of brand jointly with franchiser. Therefore. franchisee has to make efforts to maintain the quality of commodity and service, not to damage the value of title and follow the guidance and effort of franchiser it chose. Franchiser must have the recognition that the success of franchisee is the key of that of franchiser and give franchisee a reliability in order that it follows the order of franchiser. It must have the consciousness that it can achieve the success through the increase of sales by franchisee and support franchisee with trust not to have the easygoing way of thinking to derive its income of commission from increasing the number of franchisees.

유아복 브랜드 치수규격 실태 조사 연구 I (A Study on Sizes Specifications of Infants` Apparels)

  • The purpose of this study is to survey and analyze the general conditions of infants\` apparel brands in Korea, review the sizes and specifications of each brand, analyze the differences and correlations among brands, and thereby, present the reasonable sizes and specifications for infants\` apparels in consideration of domestic and foreign specifications and infants\` health conditions. For this purpose, 13 brands manufacturing the apparels for the infants aged from 0 to 4 were sampled, and their design directors and outside pattern suppliers were surveyed through direct interviews. The collected data were processed for frequencies, mean, median and mode.

It is the strategy for products development of construction companies surveyed to be divided into five kinds. First, the change from in the unit to outside. Second, centralization of design powers about products development through submit and the wining of a prize in the domestic & foreign design fair to publicize a excellent quality in a roundabout way. Third, reinforcement of service for support the habitability and design manual for secure uniform quality. Forth, investment in the environment-friendly housing and new recycling energy. Fifth, reinforcement of organizational power for improving production capability.
