In this paper checked up biomass which occurs in the Jeju as are classified as organic waste for integrated management system for review and circulation of resources. Biomass which occurs in the Jeju was the 10,818 tons of sludge, 61,284 tons of food-waste, 1,519,000 tons of livestock. Sludge is treated marine discharge, food-waste is treated regeneration and livestock is treated in the form of recycling. How to establish "System used by mechanism of recycling management on biomass resources" to introduce biomass town created by Hita-city, Oita-ken in Japan. Also there established a model system to building for recycling management of biomass and then checked up the economics. According to the report, it has the difference in facilities, but it will switch to a surplus in 4 years, therefore it was confirmed that the economy. To be considered priority most livestock in "System used by mechanism of recycling management on biomass resources" in Jeju. So it is introduced the urgent problem and the problem awaiting solution on treating livestock in this study.

Processing of organic waste is converted to anaerobic digestion for environmental friendly and sustainable energy recovery and reduction of sludge. In this study, ECOPAD (ECOdays' Plug-flow Anaerobic Digster)design for a high solids content and high organic matter content were used to investigate an applicability and efficiency of food waste treatment and poultry wastewater treatment. Case-by-case analysis of treatment efficiency of ECOPAD using food waste of city "P" and city "S". Volatile Solids basis organic removal efficiency of city "P" and city "S" was 84% and 88% respectively. And, the content of methane (P City: 70%, S City: 71%) was measured similarly. In the case of poultry waste bio-gas production was measured to $1.6Nm^3/kg$-VSrem, and methane content was measured to 69%.
The production and location of xylanolytic enzymes in alkaliphilic Bacillus sp. K-1, isolated from the wastewater treatment plant of the pulp and paper industry, was studied. When grown in alkaline xylan medium, the bacteria produced xylanolytic enzymes such as xylanase, $\beta$-xylosidase, arabinofuranosidase, and acetyl esterase. Two types of xylanases (23 and 45 kDa) were found to be extracellular, but another type of xylanase (35 and/or 40 kDa) was detected as pellet-bound that was eluted with 2% triethylamine from the residual xylan of the culture. The xylanases were different in their molecular weight and xylan-binding ability. Arabinofuranosidase and $\beta$-xylosidase were found to be intracellular and extracellular, respectively, and acetyl esterase was found to be extracellular. The extracellular xylanolytic enzymes effectively hydrolyzed insoluble xylan, lignocellulosic materials, and xylans in kraft pulps.

In this study, degradation of carbohydrates and composition of fermentative products were investigated in semi-continuous acid fermenter varying hydraulic retention time (HRT). Rice soup was used as a sole substrate for the acid fermentation. Solubilization efficiency of the substrate was higher than 70% for all HRT, however the gas conversion was ignorable implying that most of organic contents in the influent remained in the form of volatile fatty acids (VFAs) and ethanol after acid fermentation. The VFAs were the predominant product and the VFAs conversion increased as the HRT decreased. The VFAs conversion reached the maximum value at 12 hr HRT accounting for 70% of the influent COD. Similar to VFAs, ethanol conversion was increased with the decrease of HRT and the maximum ethanol conversion efficiency was 8% at the HRT of 12 hr. Composition of VFAs was markedly dependent on HRT. As HRT increased, the composition of acetic acid was increased as a product of acetogenesis from butyrate, valerate and ethanol. This study demonstrated that HRT affected acid fermentation of a carbohydrate containing organic wastes producing VFAs and ethanol which could be effectively used to compensate the lack of carbon in wastewater for biological nutrient removal.
A benthic microbial fuel cell (BMFC) is an eco-friendly energy conversion device that uses electricity generated by benthic microorganisms decomposing organic matter in the mud of the sea or lake. In this study, in order to understand how domestic wastewater flowing into tidal flats affects the performance of BMFC. BMFC performance was compared and reviewed by fermenting organic substances in food and mixing them with tidal flats. Performance of the BMFC was improved by 49% by adding fermented food rich in vitamins (B2, B6, B12, C, D, E) and soft flour. The maximum power density increased as the amount of fermented organic matter increased, and it was shown that the fermented organic matter fermented during 25~29 days was optimal for BMFC.

The city is developing into a smart city. Smart villages and smart farms are developing in rural areas. Architectural technology needs synergy with smart cities, smart villages, and smart factories (intelligent factories) to help architectural experts understand smart farms and build facilities and equipment. Smart farms require design and construction technology with architectural structure and function. The purpose of this study was to investigate the current status and cases of smart farms in Korea and to investigate cases abroad. The conclusion is as follows. ① Smart farms are developing rapidly. The Korean government is expanding smart farms by utilizing ICT technology and infrastructure. ② 'Smart Farm Innovation Valley', which has been promoted since 2018, is a cutting-edge convergence cluster industrial complex that integrates production, education, and research functions such as start-ups and technological innovation. ③ In domestic cases, smart farms are operated in subway stations, buildings, supermarkets, and restaurants. ④ In the Japanese case, a dome-type smart farm was being operated. It utilized factory wastewater, waste heat, renewable energy, and used new materials. Otemachi Ranch raised livestock and provided a lounge on the 13th floor of the building. ⑤ In the cases of Korea and Japan, the smart farm technology is very similar. As stated earlier, since the food culture and agricultural technology of both countries are similar, we hope to promote the development of smart farms that can reduce concerns about future food by communicating and sharing mutual technologies.
Marine biomass is considered an important substrate for anaerobic digestion to recovery energy i.e. methane. Nevertheless, marine biomass has attracted little attention by researchers compared to terrestrial feedstock for anaerobic digestion. In this study, biochemical methane potential (BMP) test was used to evaluate generation of renewable energy from starfish. A cumulative biogas yield of $748{\pm}67mL\;g^{-1}VS^{-1}$ was obtained after 60 days of digestion. The cumulative methane yield of $486{\pm}28mL\;CH_4\;g^{-1}VS^{-1}$ was obtained after 60 days of digestion. The methane content of the biogas was approximately 70%. The calculated data applying the modified Gompertz equation for the cumulative $CH_4$ production showed good correlation with the experimental result obtained from this batch study. Since the result obtained from this study is comparable to results with other substrates, marine biomass can be co-digested with food waste or swine wastewater to produce $CH_4$ gas that will help to reduce the gap in global energy demand.
Bacillus sp. A56 was studied, because of its high flocculating activity. The flocculating substance produced by this strain was purified by ethanol precipitation, cetylpyridinium chloride (CPC) precipitation, and gel permeation chromatography (GPC). The FT-IR spectrum of the purified bioflocculant, designated as BF-56, showed typical characteristics of polysaccharides. The non-sugar substituents, and sugar components of BF-56 containing glucose, fucose, glucuronic acid, and galactose in an approximate molar ratio of 2.76:1.10:1:0.12, suggested that it was a novel bioflocculant with an estimated molecular mass of over $7{\times}10^3$ kDa. Rheological analysis of BF-56 revealed that it was a pseudoplastic that had higher apparent viscosity rate at dilute concentrations than those of zooglan. The solution of bioflocculant BF-56 exhibited non-Newtonian characteristics and it was compatible to high concentrations of salts such as KCl, NaCl, $CaCl_2,\;or\;FeCl_3.$ The present results suggested strong possibility of bioflocculant BF-56 to be fully applicable to industries such as wastewater treatment.
The valorization of domestic wastes becomes a very important research axis that can reduce the energy consumption and protect our environment. The objective of this study is to remove zinc ions from wastewater by using banana peels after their activation as sensor in the working electrode for an environmental application. Banana peels were dried, crushed and treated with sulfuric acid then mixed with polyaniline to improve their electrical conductivity. Cyclic voltammetry and chronoamperometry were used for electrochemistry tests. The obtained voltammogramms at well optimized conditions of applied potential of -1.3 V/SCE and initial zinc concentration of 0.2M during 2 hours of electrolysis, showed the reduction peak of the zinc at a potential of -1.14 V/SCE, which confirmed the activity of this electrode. The modeling of experimental data revealed that the adsorption was fitted by the Langmuir isotherm with a maximal adsorption capacity of 3.4188 mg/g. Changes in the structure of the powder after the electrosorption was noticed by SEM and EDX. Finally, the dosage of the electrolytic solution showed a diminution of the zinc concentration with yield of 99.99%.
A Protozoa, Tetrahymena sp. was isolated from domestic wastewater and identified by morphological characteristics. It was 50 to $70{\mu}m$ in length, ovoidal shape, and divided by binary fission. When Escherchia coli was fed as a food microorganism, the optimal conditions for growth were 30 to $35^{\circ}C$, pH 7 to 9 and 0.05% NaCl. The growth was inhibited by heavy metal ions; 0.3 mg of $Cd^{++}/l$ and 0.1mg of $Cu^{++}/l$. While, it was not inhibited up to 0.7 mg of $Zn^{++}/l$.
