Reforming catalyst of synthesis gas for GTL-FPSO process is presented in this paper. In the present study, the Ni foam catalyst was compared with the existing $Al_2O_3$ pellet catalyst. The SCR reaction on the catalyst was evaluated at the different temperature. The $CH_4$ conversions increased with the reactor temperature. Also, the Ni foam catalyst had a higher $CH_4$ conversion than a pellet catalyst.
A simple and effective method has been developed for the immobilization of lipase producing Rhizopus chinensis on polyurethane foam. In this method, the fungal cells with 1, 3 specific lipase in there inside are immobilized within the foam matrix. Four types of commercially available polyurethane foam were tested. The ultimate purpose of the process is to produce low-cost biocatalysts for lipase-catalyzed reactions, which are being increasingly used for industrial applications. Effects of several parameters were studied on the cell loading and the hydrolytic activity of intracellular lipase after acetone drying. These parameters were the type, size, and amount of polyurethane foam. In all the cases, the intracellular lipase activity obtained with the foam was approximately twice greater than that obtained in the absence of the foam.
The purpose of this study is to propose a methodology for estimating greenhouse gas emission reduction through HFCs used in the foam industry. This study investigated characteristics of HFCs and greenhouse gas emissions from production processes in the foam industry, which uses HFCs as a blowing agent. Also, we investigated fluorinated gas removal technology to determine a proper technology for the foam industry. And we confirmed the criteria and characteristics of External Project for methodology development. According to criteria of External Project and foam industrial process emission, a methodology for calculating the amount of greenhouse gas emission reduction in foam industry was developed. Lastly, we analyzed the amount of greenhouse gas emission reduction and KOC (Korea Of Offset) in the foam industry based on the domestic government's plan to reduce HCFCs and imported amount of HFCs used as a blowing agent. The results of this study demonstrate that linking greenhouse gas reduction in the foam industry and the domestic greenhouse gas reduction system can contribute to achieve the domestic greenhouse gas reduction goal.
In the present study, a Zr-based amorphous alloy matrix composite reinforced with tungsten porous foam was fabricated without pores or defects by liquid pressing process, and its microstructures and mechanical properties were investigated. About 69 vol.% of tungsten foam was homogeneously distributed inside the amorphous matrix, although the matrix of the composite contained a small amount of crystalline phases. The compressive test results indicate that the composite was not fractured at one time after reaching the maximum compressive strength, but showed considerable plastic strain as the compressive load was sustained by tungsten foam. The tungsten foam greatly improved the strength (2764 MPa) and ductility (39.4%) of the composite by homogeneously dispersing the stress applied to the matrix. This was because the tungsten foam and matrix were simultaneously deformed without showing anisotropic deformation due to the excellent bonding of tungsten/matrix interfaces. These findings suggest that the liquid pressing process is useful for the development of amorphous matrix composites with improved strength and ductility.

Gas porosity which is a common defect in aluminum alloy casting, is also thought to be severer in aluminum alloy castings produced by lost foam process due to the pyrolysis of the polystyrene foam pattern during pouring. Fundamental experiments were carried out to evaluate the effect of process variables such as the melt treatment, the cooling rate and pouring temperature on the density and mechanical properties in A356.2 castings with simple bar shape. The density of grain refined specimen was slightly lower than that of degassed one, but was higher than that of no treated one and that of shot ball packed specimen was higher than the other specimens. The tensile strength and elongation were in the ranges of $200{\sim}230MPa$ and $0.5{\sim}1.5%$ respectively. The density and hardness of lost foam cast specimens decreased with increase in pouring temperature.

Fe foam with above 90% porosity and 2 millimeter pore size was successfully fabricated by a slurry coating process. In this study, the binder contents were controlled to produce the Fe foam with different pore size, strut thickness and porosity. Firstly, the slurry was prepared by uniform mixing with Fe powders, distilled water and polyvinyl alcohol(PVA) as initial materials. After slurry coating on the polyurethane(PU) foam the sample was dried at $80^{\circ}C$. The PVA and PU foams were then removed by heating at $700^{\circ}C$ for 3 hours. The debinded samples were subsequently sintered at $1250^{\circ}C$ with holding time of 3 hours under hydrogen atmosphere. The three dimensional geometries of the obtained Fe foams with open cell structure were investigated using X-ray micro CT(computed tomography) as well as the pore morphology, size and phase.
To study the effects of foam core density and face-sheet thickness on the mechanical properties and failure modes of aluminum foam sandwich (AFS) beam, especially when the aluminum foam core is made in aluminum alloy and the face sheet thickness is less than 1.5 mm, three-point bending tests were investigated experimentally by using WDW-50E electronic universal tensile testing machine. Load-displacement curves were recorded to understand the mechanical response and photographs were taken to capture the deformation process of the composite structures. Results demonstrated that when foam core was combined with face-sheet thickness of 0.8 mm, its carrying capacity improved with the increase of core density. But when the thickness of face-sheet increased from 0.8 mm to 1.2 mm, result was opposite. For AFS with the same core density, their carrying capacity increased with the face-sheet thickness, but failure modes of thin face-sheet AFS were completely different from the thick face-sheet AFS. There were three failure modes in the present research: yield damage of both core and bottom face-sheet (Failure mode I), yield damage of foam core (Failure mode II), debonding between the adhesive interface (Failure mode III).

Ceramic foam prepared with cordierite as a starting material by foam method was tested to evaluate the feasibility as a filter for the dust collection in hot gas. Two different types of agents Benzethonium chloride (BZTC, C27H42NO2Cl) and Sodium Lauryl Sulfate(SLS, CH3(CH2)11OSO3Na) were used as foaming agents in foaming process. Porosityof ceramic foam was about 80% and mean pore size were 100${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ for SLS agent and 200 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ for BZTC. It was observed that ceramic foam was composed of continuous macro-pore structure with opening windows interconnecting macro-pores. The surface of ceramic foam support of was coated with cordierite particles ranged from 20${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ to 50${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ Meso-pore size in the coating layer on ceramic foam was below 10${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$. While air permeability of the support increased with increasing macro-pore size coated ceramic filters showed a constant permeability without regard to the macro-pore size of the support. The permeabuilities of support varied in the range of 600$\times$10-13m2 to 1000$\times$10-13m2. For the case of coated ceramic filter it was about 200$\times$10-13m2. As a result of particle trapping test by using fly ash the particle removal efficiency was over the 99.9%.
Metallic foam has been known as a functional material which can be used for absorption properties of energy and sound. The unique characteristics of Al foam of mechanical, acoustic, thermal properties depend on density, cell size distribution and cell size, and these characteristics expected to apply industry field. Al-Zn-Mg-Cu alloy foams was fabricated by following process; firstly melting the Al alloy, thickening process of addition of Ca granule to increased of viscosity, foaming process of addition of titanium hydride powder to make the pores, holding in the furnace to form of cooling down to the room temperature. Metal foams with various porosity level were manufactured by change the foaming temperature. Compressive strength of the Al alloy foams was 2 times higher at 88% porosity and 1.2 times higher at 92% porosity than pure Al foams. It's sound and vibration absorption coefficient were higher than pure Al foams and with increasing porosity.
