Ammonia loss from urea significantly hinders efficient use of urea in agriculture. The level of nitrous oxide ($N_2O$) a long-lived greenhouse gas in atmosphere has increased mainly due to anthropogenic source, especially application of nitrogen fertilizers. There are reports in the literature showing that the addition of zeolite to N sources can improve the nitrogen use efficiency. This study was conducted to evaluate nitrous oxide ($N_2O$) and ammonia ($NH_3$) emission by mixed treatment of urea and zeolite in upland crop field. Urea fertilizer and zeolite were applied at different rates to study their effect on $N_2O$ emission during red pepper cultivation in upland soils. The $N_2O$ gas was collected by static closed chamber method and measured by gas chromatography. Ammonia concentration was analyzed by closed-dynamic air flow system method. The total $N_2O$ flux increased in proportion to the level of N application. Emission of $N_2O$ from the field increased from the plots applied with urea-zeolite mixture compared to urea alone. But urea-zeolite mixture treatment reduced about 30% of $NH_3$-N volatilization amounts. These results showed that the application of urea and zeolite mixture had a positive influence on reduction of $NH_3$ volatilization, but led to the increase in $N_2O$ emission in upland soils.

We investigated the electro-optical characteristics of an ICP(Inductively Coupled Plasma) light source depending on driving temperature, and length of discharge tube. An electro-optical stability of a sample at operating was measured to see a steady state of a sample. In this results, we can see that a stability of power loss and luminous flux of a sample at operating of upper 70[min] was 1.45[%1 and 0.36[%]. We measured the optical characteristics of a sample in a thermal chamber operated at a specific temperature divided into 5 steps. While luminance increased with temperature increasing, the decrement of luminance a eared at u or $46.7[^{\circ}C]$. According to Parchen's and Boyle-Charles' law, we can speculate that a pressure was increased and a higher voltage was needed but a ballaster having a rating power can't support a higher voltage corresponding to a pressure change, 0.02[Torr] at $46.7[^{\circ}C]$. Moreover, we measured an a lied power and current of samples depending to a various length of a discharge tube.
To elucidate the trophic role of heterotrophic nano- and microplankton (HNMP), we investigated their biomass, community structure, and herbivory in three different water masses, namely, south of Polar Front (SPF), Polar Front Zone (PFZ), the Sub-Antarcitc Front (SAF) in the Drake Passage in the Southern Ocean, during the austral summer in 2002. We observed a spatial difference in the relative importance of the dominant HNMP community in these water masses. Ciliates accounted for 34.7% of the total biomass on an average in the SPF where the concentration of chlorophyll-a was low with the dominance of pico- and nanophytoplankton. Moreover, the importance of ciliates declined from the SPF to the SAF. In contrast, heterotrophic dinoflagellates (HDFs) were the most dominant grazers in the PFZ where the concentration of chlorophyll-a was high with the dominance of net phytoplankton. HNMP biomass ranged from 321.9 to 751.4 $mgCm^{-2}$ and was highest in the PFZ and lowest in the SPF. This result implies that the spatial dynamic of HNMP biomass and community was significantly influenced by the composition and concentration of phytoplankton as a food source. On an average, 75.6%, 94.5%, and 78.9% of the phytoplankton production were consumed by HNMP in the SPF, PFZ, and SAF, respectively. The proportion of phytoplankton grazed by HNMP was largely determined by the composition and biomass of HNMP, as well as the composition of phytoplankton. However, the herbivory of HNMP was one of the most important loss processes affecting the biomass and composition of phytoplankton particularly in the PFZ. Our results suggest that the bulk of the photosynthetically fixed carbon was likely reprocessed by HNMP rather than contributing to the vertical flux in Drake Passage during the austral summer in 2002.
Cancer is one of the most challenging human diseases. Current clinical methods have limitations for early-stage cancer diagnosis and effective therapy. Moreover, current surgical methods to remove tumors are not precise enough and chemotherapy destroys normal tissues as well as malignant tumors, resulting in severe side effects such as hair loss, vomiting, diarrhea, and blood disorders. Recently, nanotechnology using nano-sized particles suggests advanced solutions to overcome the limitations. Various nanoparticles have been reported for more accurate diagnosis and minimized side effects. However, current nanoparticles still show limited targeting accuracy for cancer generally below 5% injection dosage. Therefore, herein we report a new nanoparticle inducing device(NID) to guide the nanoparticles externally by using both variable magnetic fields and blood flows. NID can be a promising approach to improve targeting accuracy for drug delivery using iron oxide nanoparticles.

An SHGC(Solar Heat Gain Coefficient) is a determinant of total flux of solar radiation coming indoor and a critical factor in evaluating heating and cooling load. U-value represents heat loss while SHGC denominates heat gain. Recently, windows with high solar gain, mid solar gain or low solar gain are being produced with the development of Low-E coating technology. This study evaluated changes in energy consumption for heating and cooling according to changes in SHGC when using double-layered Low-E glass and triple layered Low-E glass in relation to double layered clear glass as base glass. An Office was chosen for the evaluation. For deriving optical properties of each window, WINDOW 5 by LBNL, an U.S. based company. and the results were analyzed to evaluate performance of heat and cooling energy on anannual basis using ESP-r, an energy interpretation program. Compared to the energy consumption of the double layered clear glass, the double layered Low-E glass with high solar gain consumed $69.5kWh/m^2,yr$, 9% more than the double layered clear glass in cooling energy. The one with mid solar gain consumed $63.1kWh/m^2,yr$, 1% less than the base glass while the one with low solar gain consumed $57.6kWh/m^2,yr$, 10% less than the base glass. When it comes to tripled layered glass, the ones with high solar showed 2% of increase respectively while the one with mid solar gain and low solar gain resulted 5% and 11% in decrease in energy consumption due to low acquisition of solar radiation. With respect to cooling energy. it was found that the lower the SHGC. the less energy consumption becomes.
The continuous release of nutrient sources into natural water resource can be a continuing problem in eutrophication, as well as severe reductions in water quality. However, any desirable measure is not developed yet even though so many researches and efforts have been done to solve this problem. Forest as one of troublesome nonpoint sources may contributes most to nutrient loading, but the loading of N and P from forest in order to grasp the eutrophication potential of nonpoint sources has not been evaluated. The nutrient sources from the organic litter accumulated on the surface of forest soils can be a critical factor in continuity of eutrophication of a lake. The decomposition rate of litter can be estimated to predict release of N and P from the forest stand. The loss rate of nitrogen is complicated but depends in part upon the physical matrix of the element. Therefore, long-term nutrient budget and flux estimates at stand would be useful tools in calculating potential nutrient fluxes into the watercourses in a sustainable way. The present investigation can give insight to the actual situation of the eutrophication potentials of forest as the practical nonpoint sources.

Baffle injectors are protruded into the combustion chamber and form an anti-pulsating baffle to prevent high-frequency combustion instabilities in transverse modes. Being exposed to a high heat-flux environment, the baffle injector has self-cooling passages through which kerosene is convected and heated. The baffle injector with 20 spiral cooling channels has been developed and successfully applied to 30 $ton_f$-class combustors without any performance loss due to an additional cooling. In this work, numerical analysis of conjugate heat transfer in baffle injectors with various cooling channel designs has been performed in order to reduce the fabrication cost which would be considerably increased for the 75 $ton_f$-class combustor. Prior to the application to a full-scale combustor, the thermal durability of the modified design has been verified through the subscale hot-firing tests.

An analysis was conducted to predict the hydraulic performance of a reactor coolant pump (RCP) of SMART at the off-design as well as design points. In order to reduce the analysis time efficiently, a single passage containing an impeller and a diffuser was considered as the computational domain. A stage scheme was used to perform a circumferential averaging of the flux on the impeller-diffuser interface. The pressure difference between the inlet and outlet of the pump was determined and was used to compute the head, efficiency, and break horse power (BHP) of a scaled-down model under conditions of steady-state incompressible flow. The predicted curves of the hydraulic performance of an RCP were similar to the typical characteristic curves of a conventional mixed-flow pump. The complex internal fluid flow of a pump, including the internal recirculation loss due to reverse flow, was observed at a low flow rate.

In order to measure corrosion level of reinforcement rebar in RC structures, non-destructive test methods which are concrete surface current density method and infrared thermographic technique were employed to measure corrosion levels. Experimental test parameters were various levels of corrosion states(0, 1, 3, 5, 7% of weight loss) and concrete cover depth(30 mm, 40 mm) and two different reinforcing rebar arrangements. The larger amount of concrete surface current density, the higher corrosion level in reinforcement rebar. The laboratory conditions which are ambient temperature and humidity have negligible effect on the infrared thermographical data. After analysis of current density and temperature distribution from concrete surface, corrosion level of reinforcement rebar embedded in concrete can be measured qualitatively based on the amount of electric current and heat flux.
This study was carried out for the purpose of determination of maintenance period and investigation of weak point due to freeze when the gas heater of KOGAS valve station Is not operated in winter season. 3-dimensional non-linear numerical simulation was conducted in order to predict the time and location which bath water in heater reaches to ice point. FLUENT V 5.0, commercial code, is used for thermal fluid flow analysis. We thought this was problem of heat conduction solving the energy equation and modeled gas heater by using the real geometry and scale for performing the 3-dimensional simulation. It was analyzed complex heat transfer phenomena considering convection due to air on surface, conduction in insulation material, natural convection of liquid in heater and heat loss through the pipe.
