In this paper, the dual-faced monopole antenna, which is arranged by numerous rectangular ring patches in sequence for the multi-bands is proposed. The ring type structure of the patch can be increased the bandwidth. Therefore the bandwidth and beam width are improved by using multiple arrayed patches. When the ring type patches are inserted serially, the resonance frequencies are occurred by the current flow from the first ring patch. It is possible because the gap between the patches is very narrow. In addition, if the patches are composed on the same plane as the feed-line, fabrication could be very difficult because the gap between the patches is extremely narrow. The thickness and permittivity of the antenna, moreover, are very important parameters because both sides of the substrate are used. We finally found the optimal thickness and permittivity to generate the coupling effect by simulation. All patches are consisted of 4-steps which the patch size was decreased 85 % by each step. In conclusion, the resonant frequency bands are 1.75~2.6 GHz(850 MHz), 3.24~3.46 GHz(220 MHz), 3.8~4.0 GHz(200 MHz), and 4.4~4.9 GHz(500 MHz).
The eigenvalue technique is introduced to overcome the problem of truncation errors caused by temporal discretization of numerical analysis. The eigenvalue technique is different from simulation in that only the space is discretized. The spatially discretized equation is diagonized and the linear dynamic system is then decoupled. The time integration can be done independently and continuously for any nodal point at any time. The results of eigenvalue technique are compared with the exact solution and FEM numerical solution. The eigenvalue technique is more efficient than the FEM to the computation time and the computer storage in the same conditions. This technique is applied to the solute transport analysis in nonuniform flow fields around underground storage caverns. This method can be very useful for time consuming simulations. So, a sensitivity analysis is carried out by using this method to analyze the safety of caverns from nearly located contaminant sources. According to the simulations, the reaching time from source to the nearest cavern may takes 50 years with longitudinal dispersivity of 50 m and transversal dispersivity of 5 m, respectively.

In order to investigate the hydraulic characteristics of a boundary layer streaming over the beach cusps appeared in swells prevailing mild seas, we numerically simulated the shoaling process of Edge waves over the beach cusp. Synchronous Edge waves known to sustain the beach cusps could successfully be duplicated by generating two obliquely colliding Edge waves in front of beach cusps. The amplitude AB and length LB of Beach Cusp were elected to be 1.25 m and 18 m, respectively based on the measured data along the Mang-Bang beach. Numerical results show that boundary layer streaming was formed at every phase of shoaling process without exception, and the maximum boundary layer streaming was observed to occur at the crest of sand bar. In RUN 1 where the shortest waves were deployed, the maximum boundary layer streaming was observed to be around 0.32 m/s, which far exceeds the amplitude of free stream by two times. It is also noted that the maximum boundary layer streaming mentioned above greatly differs from the analytical solution by Longuet-Higgins (1957) based on wave Reynolds stress. In doing so, we also identify the recovery procedure of natural beaches in swells prevailing mild seas, which can be summarized such as: as the infra-gravity waves formed in swells by the resonance wave-wave interaction arrives near the breaking line, the sediments ascending near the free surface by the Phase II waves orbital motion were carried toward the pinnacle of foreshore by the shoreward flow commenced at the steep front of breaking waves, and were deposited near the pinnacle of foreshore due to the infiltration.

This study has been made to execute a research in order to lead the improvement of indoor air quality, examining the indoor ventilation characteristics by using a numerical analysis method. To this end an extensive parametric investigation are made according to various external flow variables such as main wind direction and wind speed by season, building layout design, and location of ventilators, etc. in Daedeok Techno Valley, one of large-scaled apartment in Daejeon. It is observed there was a significant difference of main wind direction between summer and winter. The main wind direction in summer was a south wind, and on the contrary the direction in winter is northnorthwest, which is similar to the average main wind direction for 10 years. One of the important calculation results is that the change of wind direction causes a significant effect on the apartment ventilation by the change of pressure difference around each complex of apartment. In case of favorable area of ventilation, the indoor ventilation rate can meet 0.7 ACH from the standard value only with natural ventilation. On the contrary, in other area the value was much lower than the standard value. If the calculation result applies to the design of layout apartment or placement of ventilators, it will be greatly helpful to the energy saving because it can be parallel with the natural ventilation to help securing ventilation rate, not much depending on the mechanical ventilation.

Purpose: This study was performed to define the drying characteristics of sorghum by developing thin layer drying equations and evaluating various grain drying equations. Thin layer drying equations lay the foundation characteristics to establish the thick layer drying equations, which can be adopted to determine the design conditions for an agricultural dryer. Methods: The drying rate of sorghum was measured under three levels of drying temperature ($40^{\circ}C$, $50^{\circ}C$, and $60^{\circ}C$) and relative humidity (30%, 40%, and 50%) to analyze the drying process and investigate the drying conditions. The drying experiment was performed until the weight of sorghum became constant. The experimental constants of four thin layer drying models were determined by developing a non-linear regression model along with the drying experiment results. Result: The half response time (moisture ratio = 0.5) of drying, which is an index of the drying rate, was increased as the drying temperature was high and relative humidity was low. When the drying temperature was $40^{\circ}C$ at a relative humidity (RH) of 50%, the maximum half response time of drying was 2.8 h. Contrastingly, the maximum half response time of drying was 1.2 h when the drying temperature was $60^{\circ}C$ at 30% RH. The coefficient of determination for the Lewis model, simplified diffusion model, Page model, and Thompson model was respectively 0.9976, 0.9977, 0.9340, and 0.9783. The Lewis model and the simplified diffusion model satisfied the drying conditions by showing the average coefficient of determination of the experimental constants and predicted values of the model as 0.9976 and Root Mean Square Error (RMSE) of 0.0236. Conclusion: The simplified diffusion model was the most suitable for every drying condition of drying temperature and relative humidity, and the model for the thin layer drying is expected to be useful to develop the thick layer drying model.

Due to the change from small volume production to small quantity batch production systems, individual companies have been attempting to produce a wide range of operating strategies, maximize their productivity, and minimize their WIP level by operating with the proper cycle time to defend their market share. In particular, using a complex workflow and process sequence in the manufacturing line has some drawbacks when it comes to designing the production strategy by applying analytical models, such as mathematical models and queueing theory. For this purpose, this paper uses three heuristic algorithms to solve the job release problem at the bottleneck workstation, product mix problem in multi-purpose machine(s), and batch size and sequence in batch machine(s). To verify the effectiveness of the proposed methods, a simulation analysis was performed. The experimental results demonstrated that the combined application of the proposed methods showed positive effects on the reduction of the cycle time and WIP level, and improvement of the throughput.

The flow of a universal system-level design methodology consists of system specification, system-level hardware/software partitioning, co-design, co-verification using virtual or physical prototype, and system integration. In this paper, verification environments based-on SystemVerilog and SystemC, one is native-code co-verification environment which makes prompt functional verification possible and another is SystemVerilog layered testbench which makes clock-level verification possible, are implemented. In native-code co-verification, HW and SW parts of SoC are respectively designed with SystemVerilog and SystemC after HW/SW partitioning using SystemC, then the functional interaction between HW and SW parts is carried out as one simulation process. SystemVerilog layered testbench is a verification environment including corner case test of DUT through the randomly generated test-vector. We adopt SystemC to design a component of verification environment which has multiple inheritance, and we combine SystemC design unit with the SystemVerilog layered testbench using SystemVerilog DPI and ModelSim macro. As multiple inheritance is useful for creating class types that combine the properties of two or more class types, the design of verification environment adopting SystemC in this paper can increase the code reusability.

When a large-scale photovoltaic (PV) system is introduced into a distribution system, the customer's voltage may exceed the allowable limit ($220V{\pm}6%$) due to voltage variations and reverse power flow in the PV system. In order to solve this problem, we propose a method for adjusting the customer voltage using the existing step voltage regulator (SVR) installed in the primary feeder. However, due to the characteristics of a mechanically operating SVR, the customer voltage during the tap changing time of the SVR is likely to deviate from the allowable limit. In this paper, an energy storage system (ESS) with optimal operation strategies, and an appropriate capacity calculation algorithm are proposed, and the parallel driving scheme between the SVR and the ESS is also proposed to solve the customer voltage problem that may occur during the tap changing time of the SVR. The simulation results show that the allowable limit of the customer voltage is verified by the proposed methods during the tap changing time of the SVR when the large-scale PV system is connected to the distribution system.

The worldwide semi-conductor market has been growing for a long time. Manufacturing lines of semi-conductors need to handle several types of toxic gases. In particular, they need to be controlled accurately in real time. This type of toxic gas control system consists of many different kinds of parts, e.g., fittings, valves, tubes, filters, and regulators. These parts obviously need to be manufactured precisely and be corrosion resistant because they have to control high pressure gases for long periods without any leakage. For this, surface machining and hardening technologies of the metal block and metal gasket need to be studied. This type of study depends on various factors, such as geometric shapes, part materials, surface hardening method, and gas pressures. This paper presents strong concerns on a series of simulation processes regarding the differences between the inlet and outlet pressures considering several different fluid velocity, tube diameters, and V-angles. Indeed, this study will very helpful to determine the important design factors as well as precisely manufacture these parts. The EP (Electrolytic Polishing) process was used to obtain cleaner surfaces, and hardness tests were carried out after the EP process.
The objective of this study is to assess impacts of sorption heterogeneity on the transport of leachate leaked from unlined landfill sites and is accomplished by examining the results from a series of Monte-Carlo simulations. For random distribution coefficient ($K_{d}$) fields with four different levels of heterogeneity ranging from homogeneous to highly heterogeneous, the transport of leachate was investigated by linking a saturated flow model with a contaminant transport model. Impacts of a chemical heterogeneity were evaluated using point statistics values such as mean, standard deviation, and coefficient of variation of the concentration obtained at monitoring wells from 100 Monte-Carlo trials. Inspection of point statistics shows that the distribution of distribution coefficient in the landfill site proves to be an important parameter in controlling leachate concentrations. In comparison to homogeneous sorption, heterogeneous $K_{d^-}$ fields produce the variability in the leachate concentration for different realizations. The variability increases significantly as the variance in the $K_{d^-}$ field and the travel time between source and monitoring well increase. These outcomes indicate that use of a constant homogeneous $K_{d}$ value for predicting the transport of leachate can result in significant error, especially when variability in $K_{d}$ is high.
