The wet-air oxidation in gravity pressure reactor is effective for organic waste treatment with energy saving under high pressure and high temperature. But its oxidation control is difficulty because its multi-phase flow characteristics is very complicated. The flow characteristics of an oxidizer feed section in the gravity pressure reactor were investigated using numerical method which are verified by comparison with experimental results. In this study, the results showed that the flow rate of oxidizer have an effect on the generation of bubble around feed section.
Gas and liquid flow characteristics were investigated in an internal circulation airlift reactor using a single nozzle for a gas distributor. In three reactors with different diameters of the downcomer and heights of the riser, the gas holdup in the individual flow zone and the impulseresponse curve of tracer for an air-water system were measured for various gas velocities and reactor heights. Experimental results showed that the flow behavior of bubbles in the riser was the slug flow due to strong coalescences of bubbles and that the bubble flow pattern in the downcomer was the transition bubble flow for the smaller diameter of the downcomer, however, it was the homogeneous bubble flow for the larger one. And mean gas holdups in the individual flow zone and the reactor were greatly increased with decreasing the diameter of the downcomer for the equal ratio of height of the top section to that of the riser. Also, the mixing time was much effected by the height of the top section of reactor and for the equal ratio of height of top section to that of the riser, it was increased with increasing the diameter of the downcomer and the height of the riser. Flow characteristics of liquid were mainly varied with the bubble flow pattern in the downcomer and the size of the top section of reactor. And circulation velocities of liquid in the riser were increased with increasing gas velocities and the size of the top section of reactor, and for the equal ratio of height of top section to that of the riser, they were increased with increasing the diameter of the downcomer and the height of the riser.

With the assumption that the performance of a catalyst is guaranteed and that the performance of an SCR reactor is influenced by the uniformity of fluid flow into the catalyst, this study carried out a numerical analysis of flow uniformity, which is an important design factor in SCR reactors. CFD was used to grasp flow uniformity and flow characteristics inside the SCR reactor. As for the flow uniformity, analysis was carried out on the velocity and direction of the fluid flowing into the front of the first SCR reactor. Numerical analysis was carried out in terms of the area ratios of the mixing evaporator to the catalyst for 500 PS SCR, 1 : 1.9, 1 : 3.1, 1 : 4.5, and 1 : 7.0. The results showed that the larger the area ratio, the smaller the flow uniformity. On the basis of these results, the flow uniformity of the modified SCR reactor is 77%. A guidevane was installed to improve flow uniformity, and attempts were made to grasp the flow uniformity based on the shape of the guide vane. The shape of the guide vane was cylindrical, and numerical analysis was carried out for cases with two cylinders and three cylinders. As a result of the numerical analysis, it was found that while there was no great difference between 82.7% with two cylinders and 81.7% with three cylinders, the effects of the installation of the guide vane on the improvement of flow uniformity were indisputable.

It is the common features of the integral reactors that the main components of the RCS are installed within the reactor vessel, and so there are no any flow pipes connecting the steam generator or the pump whose type is the axial flow. Due to no any flow pipes, it is impossible to measure the differential pressure at the RCS of the integral reactors, and it also makes impossible measure the flow-rate of the reactor coolant. As a alternative method, the method by the measurement of the pump power of the axial flow pump has been introduced in this study. Up to now, we did not found out a precedent which the pump power is used for the flow-rate calculation at normal operation of the commercial nuclear power plants. The objective of the study is to embody the flow-rate calculation method by the measurement of the pump power in an integral reactor. As a result of the study, we could theoretically reason that the capacity-head curve and capacity-shaft power curve around the rated capacity with the high specific-speeded axial flow pumps have each diagonally steep incline but show the similar shape. Also, we could confirm the above theoretical reasoning from the measured result of the pump motor inputs. So, it has been concluded that it is possible to calculate the flow-rate by the measurement of the pump motor inputs.

A series of 1/5 scale-down reactor flow distribution tests had been conducted to determine the hydraulic characteristics of an APR+ (Advanced Power Reactor Plus), which were used as the input data for an open core thermal margin analysis code. In this study, to examine the applicability of computational fluid dynamics with the porous model to the analysis of APR+ internal flow, simulations were conducted using the commercial multi-purpose computational fluid dynamics software ANSYS CFX V.14. It was concluded that the porous domain approach for some reactor internal structures could adequately predict the flow characteristics inside a reactor in a qualitative manner. If sufficient computational resources are available, the predicted core inlet flow distribution is expected to be more accurate by considering the real geometry of the internal structures, especially upstream of the core inlet.

A 1/21.6 scaled non-heating experimental facility was prepared utilizing the results of a scaling analysis to simulate the APR1400 reactor and insulation system. The behaviors of the air bubble-induced two-phase natural circulation flow in the insulation gap were observed, and the liquid mass flow rates driven by natural circulation loop were measured by varying the injected air flow rate and distribution. As the injected air flow rates increased, the natural circulation flow rates also increased. Both the longitudinal and the latitudinal distributions of the injected air affected the natural circulation flow rates, especially, the longitudinal effect is more larger.
In the area of environmental chemistry of power plant, flow analysis of the reactor with built-in impeller is a very important part from the perspective of the improvement of the efficiency of the entire process. As a wide range of methods are being proposed for the analysis of the flow pattern within the reactor, this study analyzed the flow within the reactor according to the baffle structure (height) installed on the internal wall of the reactor in order to improve the reaction efficiency through the inducing of the up and down stirring with the reactor. As the results of the execution of the flow analysis for each of a diverse range of cases by utilizing the Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) method, it was possible to confirm that the flow is markdely improved by inducing the up and down stirring among the reactants within the reactor if the baffle is elevated to the level below the water surface. In particular, as the results of the analysis of the general cases in which the baffle is elevated all 4 steps and the cases in which the baffle is elevated only 2 steps, elevating the baffle only 2 steps achieve the same effect as the elevating of the baffle by 4 steps. Therefore, it was possible to expect to improve the efficiency with out the need to increase the use of electric power substantially if the outcomes of this study is applied to the actual sites of power plants in the future.
The pyrolysis reactions of atomic hydrogen with chloroform were studied In a 4 cm 1.6. tubular flow reactor with low flow velocity 1518 cm/sec and a 2.6 cm 1.4. tubular flow reactor with high flow velocity (1227 cm/sec). The hydrogen atom concentration was measured by chemiluminescence titration with nitrogen dioxide, and the chloroform concentrations were determined using a gas chromatography. The chloroform conversion efficiency depended on both the chloroform flow rate and linear flow velocity, but 416 not depend on the flow rate of hydrogen atom. A computer model was employed to estimate a rate constant for the initial reaction of atomic hydrogen with chloroform. The model consisted of a scheme for chloroform-hydrogen atom reaction, Runge-Kutta 4th-order method for Integration of first-order differential equations describing the time dependence of the concentrations of various chemical species, and Rosenbrock method for optimization to match model and experimental results. The scheme for chloroform-hydrogen atom reaction Included 22 elementary reactions. The rate constant estimated using the data obtained from the 2.6 cm 1.4. reactor was to be 8.1 $\times$$10^{-14}$$cm^3$/molecule-sec and 3.8 $\times$$10^{-15}$ cms/molecule-sec, and the deviations of computer model from experimental results were 9% and 12% , for the each reaction time of 0.028 sec and 0.072 sec, respectively.

During a reactor normal operation, a primary coolant was designed to remove the fission reaction heat of the reactor. When one pump is failure and the other pump shall supply the cooling water to cool the reduced power, it is necessary to estimate how much flow will be supplied to cool the reactor. We carried a flow net work analysis for two parallel pumping system as based on the piping net work of the primary cooling system in HANARO. As result, it is estimated that the flow of one pump increased than the rated flow of the pump below the cavitation critical flow.
The external reactor vessel cooling (ERVC) is well known strategy to mitigate a severe accident at which nuclear fuel inside the reactor vessel is molten. In order to compare the heat removal capacity of ERVC between the nuclear reactor designs quantitatively, numerical method is often used. However, the study for ERVC using computational fluid dynamics (CFD) is still quite scarce. As a validation study on the numerical prediction for ERVC using CFD, the subcooled boiling flow and natural circulation of coolant at the ULPU-V experiment was simulated. The commercially available CFD software ANSYS-CFX was used. Shear stress transport (SST) model and RPI model were used for turbulence closure and wall-boiling, respectively. The averaged flow velocities in the downcomer and the baffle entry under the reactor vessel lower plenum are in good agreement with the available experimental data and recent computational results. Steam generated from the heated wall condenses rapidly and coolant flows maintains single-phase flow until coolant boils again by flashing process due to the decrease of saturation temperature induced by higher elevation. Hence, the flow rate of coolant natural circulation does not vary significantly with the change of heat flux applied at the reactor vessel, which is also consistent with the previous literatures.
