유연성 천공기를 이용한 Bankart 병변의 골관통식 봉합 - 동물 실험 및 예비 임상 결과 보고 - (Arthroscopic Transosseous Suture Repair for Bankart Lesion with a Flexible Drill Device - An Experimental and Preliminary Clinical Report -)

  • 목적: 견관절의 Bankart 병변에 대하여서 관절경적 수술하에서도 골경유 봉합이 가능하도록 유연성 골 천공기를 개발하였으며 이에 대한 동물 실험 및 임상 증례를 보고하는 바이다. 대상 및 방법: 유연성 천공기 세트는 유연성 천공기와 유도관으로 구성되어 있다. 유연성 천공기는 49개의 미세강선들이 단일 강선 (직경 1.2 mm)으로 꼬인 구조로 이루어져 유연성이 있으며 이러한 유연한 강선의 한 쪽 끝에는 천공기 (직경 1.2 mm)가 용접되어 있는 구조로 이루어져 있다. 유도관은 외경 3.0 mm, 내경 2.0 mm의 원통형 금속 도관으로 이루어져 있으며 한 쪽 끝은 30도 정도 굴곡되어 있다. 기기의 내구성 및 임상적 유용성을 시험하기 위하여 돼지의 견갑골 관절와에 골 천공을 실시하는 실험을 30회 이상 실시하였다. 유연성 강선 부위의 기계적 파단이나 골 천공의 실패 등은 발생하지 않았다. 일반적 견관절 관절경 술식대로 견관절의 후방 입구 및 전 상방, 전 후방 입구들을 확보한 후 관절경하에서 Bankart 병변이 확인이 되면 면도기를 이용하여 견갑와 내측면의 변연 절제를 실시하여 골 출혈을 유도한다. 이후 관절경을 전 상방 입구로 이전 시키고, 후방 입구를 통하여서 유연성 골천공기 세트의 유도 강관을 삽입하는데 유도 강관의 끝이 견갑와연에서 약 5 mm 정도 안쪽에 위치되도록 한다. 유도강관 내로 유연성 천공기를 삽입한 후 구동기를 이용하여서 견갑와의 골 천공을 실시한다. 골 천공 후에는 유연성 천공기만 유도강관에서 제거한 후에 유도 강관내로 봉합사를 삽입하여 천공된 골구로 통과시키도록 한다. 봉합 갈고리를 이용하여 관절와순에 유도봉합사를 통과시킨 후에 이 유도봉합사에 골 천공구를 통과한 봉합사를 끼워서 관절완순을 통과하도록 한 후 활주 결찰을 실시하여 골 관통 봉합을 이루도록 한다. 동일한 방식으로 견갑와의 2시, 4시 방향에 골 천공을 시행하여 견갑와순의 봉합을 실시한다. 결과: 외상성 견관절 탈구 환자 5예에서 유연성 골 천공기를 이용한 Bankart 병변의 봉합을 실시하였다. 수술 도중 또는 수술후의 신경이나 혈관 손상 등의 문제점이나 합병증 등은 발생하지 않았으며 기기 자체의 문제들도 발생하지 않았다. 평균 6개월간의 추시 결과 상에서는 재탈구 등의 증상은 나타나지 않았다. 결론: 유연성 골 천공기를 사용한 Bankart 병변의 봉합시 관절경적 수술이면서도 골 관통식 봉합이 가능하여 관절와순의 부착면적의 증대 효과 뿐 아니라 손쉬운 활주 결찰이 이루어 질 수 있음을 보여주었다.

Ag Electrode Strain Sensor Fabrication Using Laser Direct Writing Process

  • As several innovative technologies for flexible electric devices are being realized, demand for in-situ strain monitoring for flexible electric devices is being emphasized. Because flexible devices are commonly influenced by substrate strain, suitable strain sensors for flexible devices are essential for the sophisticated maneuvering of flexible devices. In this study, a flexible strain sensor based on an Ag electrode is prepared on a polyimide substrate using the LDW (laser direct writing) process. In this process, first, the Ag nanoparticles are coated on the substrate and selectively sintered using a focused laser. Because of the advantages of the LDW process (such as being mask-less, using low temperatures, and having non-vacuum characteristics), the entire fabrication process has been dramatically simplified; as a final outcome, a highly reliable strain sensor has been fabricated. Using this strain sensor, various strain conditions that arise from different bending radii can be detected by measuring real-time electrical signals.

  • We fabricated flexible OTFT-backplanes with combining printing technique and conventional photolithography process for the electrophoretic display(EPD). The active area size of backplane was 6" in diagonal direction and consisted of $192{\times}150$ pixels, containing 1 OTFT employed bottom contact structure and 1 capacitance in each pixel.

  • Transparent BNO thin films were grown on Al-doped ZnO (AZO)/Ag/AZO/polyethersulfon (PES) (abbreviated as AAAP) transparent electrodes at a low temperature by the NCD technique. The BNO films grown on the crystallized AZO/Ag/AZO (AAA) electrodes exhibit an amorphous phase with a root mean square (rms) roughness of approximately 2 nm in the range of deposition temperature. The capacitors (Pt/BNO/AAAP) with BNO films grown at $100^{\circ}C$ show a dielectric constant of 24 and dissipation factor of 8% at 100 kHz, a leakage current density of about $8{\times}10^{-6}A/cm^2$ at an applied voltage of 1.0V. The optical transmittances of the BNO/AAAP exhibited above 80% at wavelength of 550nm at all of deposition temperature. The mechanical stability of the BNO/AAA as well as AAA electrode with the PES substrates through the bending was ensured for flexible electronic device applications. The transparent BNO capacitors grown on AAAP are powerful candidate for integration with the transparent solar cells.

  • A hybrid passivation method using parylene and silicon dioxide combination layer for a flexible organic light emitting diode (FOLED) was applied on a polycarbonate substrate. A parylene coating by vapor polymerization method is a highly effective passivation process for the FOLED, and it applies all top surface and the edges of the FOLED device. In order to minimize the permeation of moisture and oxygen from the top surface of the device, an additional layer of silicon dioxide was deposited over the parylene coated layer. It was found that the water vapor transmittance rate (WVTR) of parylene (15 m-in-thickness) / SiO2 (0.3$\mu$m-in-thickness) combination layers deposited on polycarbonate film was decreased under the value of 10-3 g/m2day. The FOLED with the hybrid passivation showed remarkably longer lifetime characteristics in the ambient conditions than the non-passivated FOLED. The lifetime of the passivated FOLED was 400 hours and it was more than ten times over the lifetime of the convectional non-passivated FOLED.

  • We report on the non-volatile memory characteristics of a bistable organic memory (BOM) device with Au nanoparticles (NPs) embedded in a conducting poly N-vinylcarbazole (PVK) colloids hybrid layer deposited on flexible polyethylene terephthalate (PET) substrates. Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) images show the Au nanoparticles distributed isotropically around the surface of a PVK colloid. The average induced charge on Au nanoparticles, estimated using the C-V hysteresis curve, was large, as much as 5 holes/NP at a sweeping voltage of ${\pm}3$ V. The maximum ON/OFF ratio of the current bistability in the BOM devices was as large as $1{\times}105$. The cycling endurance tests of the ON/OFF switching exhibited a high endurance of above $1.5{\times}105$ cycles and a high ON/OFF ratio of ~105 could be achieved consistently even after quite a long retention time of more than $1{\times}106$ s.

  • EL (electro luminescent) is generally studied as a large size plane light emitting device and flexible light source because of it's simple manufacturing process. In this experiment, we manufactured flexible white emitting light source using Ni-foil with blue phosphor and color change materials. With increasing the thickness of color change material, the luminance of white emission is increased and the color coordinate of white color was shifted to pure white of (0.317,0.328) by strong emission of color change materials excited by blue excitation spectra. Also the luminance level was 30% higher in white emitting light device than blue only light source.

Ink-jet Printing for the Fabrication of a Flexible Electrochromic Device Based on the Water-Soluble Viologen-Functionalized Dendrimer

  • This paper reports the preparation of an ink-jet printed flexible electrochromic device based on a water-soluble viologen-functionalized dendrimer. Polyamidoamine (PAMAM) dendrimers were modified with different concentrations of 1-1 bis(propylamine)-4,4'-bipyridylium dibromides to obtain solution-processable electrochromic materials (K1/2 and K1). FTIR, NMR, and elemental analyses are used to characterize synthesized viologens. Moreover, their electrochemical properties were investigated using cyclic voltammetry in an electrolyte solution consisting of 0.1 M HCl to find the optimum viologens. The low-cost ink-jet printer was used to print the prepared water-soluble electrochromic inks onto the ITO coated PET substrate to form desired transparent patterns. The electrolyte was applied on the printed electrochromic ink to make a sandwich with another ITO coated PET to prepare the electrochromic devices (ECD). By applying an electrical potential (0 to -2 V), the transparent ECD's color changed from colorless to blue. The color changes for the optimum ECD (K1), which had more viologen units on the dendrimer, was accompanied by an optical contrast of 47% and 311.5 ㎠C-1 coloration efficiency at 600 nm.

  • A new feedback control law design techniqed usign of-off thrusters for the rotational maneuver of a flexible arm is discussed in this study. a two state on-off thruster actuator is taken as a primary actuation device for theis study. The on-off thruster operation is emulated in conjunction with the conventioal minimum-time trackig control law. The actuator input region is divided into two separate parts ; one is constant input and the other is time varying tegion. the new control law has potential applicatioin for the relatively low frequency structure such as large flexible space structure being currently used in various space echnology areas.

  • The laminating technique for developing flexible liquid crystal display was demonstrated by using a thin UV curable polymer film and a plastic substrate with patterned polymer wall structure. We adopted the rigid wall structure to provide a solid mechanical support for the stable molecular alignment of liquid crystals (LCs) in the device. The cover film was prepared to have an ability of aligning LC molecules by patterning a micro-groove structure using the soft-lithographic process. These two substrates can be assembled tightly by the laminating and one-step UV irradiation process because of the adhesive nature of the used UV curable polymers. Proposed method can be used to fabricate the flexible LC display with simplicity and also be applicable for a cost-effective roll-to-roll process.
