원자로헤드 관통관 결함의 검출 정확성 연구 (A Study I on the Sizing Accuracy of the Characterized Defects of the Reactor Vessel Head Penetrations)

  • The head penetrations for control rod drive mechanism and instrumentation systems are installed at the reactor pressure vessel head of PWRs. Primary coolant water and the operating conditions of PWR plants can cause cracking of these nickel-based alloy through a process called primary water stress corrosion cracking (PWSCC). Inspection of the head penetrations to ensure the integrity of the head penetrations has been interested since reactor coolant leakages were found at U. S. reactors in 2000 and 2001. The complex geometry of the head penetrations and the very low echo amplitude from the fine, multiple flaws due to the nature of the see made it difficult to detect and size the flaws using conventional pulse-echo UT methods. Time-of-flight-diffraction technique, which utilizes the time difference between the flaw tips while pulse-echo does the flaw response amplitude from the flaw, has been selected for this inspection for it's best performance of the detection and sizing of the head penetration see flaws. This study defines the limits of the detectable and accurately sizable minimum flaw size which can be detected by the General TOFD and the Delta TOFD techniques for circumferentially and axially oriented flaws respectively. These results assures the reliability of the inspection techniques to detect and accurately size for various kind of flaws, and will also be utilized for the future development and qualifications of the TOFD techniques to enhance the detecting sensitivity and sizing accuracy of the flaws of the reactor head penetrations in nuclear power plants.

  • In most of ultrasonic NDT(Non-Destructive Testing) equipments using A-scan display technic, it is one of the inconveniences that the user must be proficient in reading the displayed signals for the accurate decisions. In this study, a simple microprocessorized NDT machine for the flaw detection was developed. The operation of system is based on the conventional NDT system. The microprocessor detects the time delay between transmitted pulse and echos by counter-measure method. Then according to the scanning position, the location of flaw orthe other side of testing object is plotted on the CRT. The main advantages of the developed system are simplicity in handling, recording capability of measured data, and low cost.

  • 나사산에 존재하는 Stress-Corrosion Cracking이나 Corrosion Wastage(Loss of Bolt Diameter)는 검출하기가 어렵다. 결함의 크기가 1-2mm 정도에 이르면 성장이 급진전되어 파손에 이르는 경우가 많은데 본 논문에서는 Signal-Conditioning 기법에 통한 나사산신호의 시간차를 이용해서 매우 작은 결함도 쉽게 찾을 수 있는 방법에 관해 연구되었다.

Analysis of Spin Valve Tunneling Magnetoresistance Sensor for Eddy Current Nondestructive Testing

  • The spin valve tunneling magnetoresistance (SV-TMR) sensor performance is analyzed using Stoner-Wohlfarth model for the detection of eddy current signals in nondestructive testing applications. The SV-TMR response in terms of the applied AC magnetic field dominantly generates the second harmonic amplitude in hard axis direction. The second harmonic eddy current signal detection using SV-TMR sensor shows higher performance than that of the coil sensor at lower frequencies. The SV-TMR sensor with high sensitivity gives a good solution to improve the low frequency performance in comparison with the inductive coil sensors. Therefore, the low frequency eddy current techniques based on SV-TMR sensors are specially useful in the detection of hidden defects, and it can be applied to detect the deeply embedded flaws or discontinuities in the conductive materials.

  • Defect detection during liquid crystal display (LCD) manufacturing has always been a critical challenge. This study aims to address this issue by proposing a data augmentation method based on generative adversarial networks (GAN) to improve defect identification accuracy in LCD production. By leveraging synthetically generated image data from GAN, we effectively augment the original dataset to make it more representative and diverse. This data augmentation strategy enhances the model's generalization capability and robustness on real-world data. Compared to traditional data augmentation techniques, the synthetic data from GAN are more realistic, diverse and broadly distributed. Experimental results demonstrate that training models with GAN-generated data combined with the original dataset significantly improves the detection accuracy of critical defects in LCD manufacturing, compared to using the original dataset alone. This study provides an effective data augmentation approach for intelligent quality control in LCD production.

로봇시스템에서 작은 마커 인식을 하기 위한 사물 감지 어텐션 모델 (Small Marker Detection with Attention Model in Robotic Applications)

  • As robots are considered one of the mainstream digital transformations, robots with machine vision becomes a main area of study providing the ability to check what robots watch and make decisions based on it. However, it is difficult to find a small object in the image mainly due to the flaw of the most of visual recognition networks. Because visual recognition networks are mostly convolution neural network which usually consider local features. So, we make a model considering not only local feature, but also global feature. In this paper, we propose a detection method of a small marker on the object using deep learning and an algorithm that considers global features by combining Transformer's self-attention technique with a convolutional neural network. We suggest a self-attention model with new definition of Query, Key and Value for model to learn global feature and simplified equation by getting rid of position vector and classification token which cause the model to be heavy and slow. Finally, we show that our model achieves higher mAP than state of the art model YOLOr.

We describe the magnetic dipole model of the eddy currents in a nondestructive evaluation. Such a theoretical calculation of the magnetic dipole fields produced by a deep flaw in metallic materials can be used in aerospace and transportation industries.

  • In the impact echo method, a stress pulse is introduced into an object at on accessible surface by a transmitter. The pulse propagates into the test object and is reflected by flaws or interfaces. In this paper, void and crack locations of concrete specimens were detected using impact echo method. In their modal identification procedures, the double least squares solution for Ibrahim Time Domain technique was used.
