It is known that energy consumption in bottom floor of typical Korean-style apartment is the highest. Previous studies for energy consumption in accordance with floor level appear to be very limited due to the dependence on single energy variable such as electric power or LNG separately, based on past flat type of apartment. Acknowledging these constraints, an empirical study for a tower type emerged recently as new style of apartment in South Korea was conducted to demonstrate how a comprehensive evaluation for both electric power and LNG consumption can be used to assist in monitoring the total energy consumption in terms of floor specific settings. It was possible to identify that energy consumption in bottom floor is lesser than that of top floor, to the contrary, fact known from previous study. Also electric power consumption in top floor was identified as 15% higher than that of floor in the least. It is anticipated that this integrated utilization of electric power and LNG data would present more scientific and objective evidence for the energy load among floor level of tower type apartment by overcoming serious constraints suffered from the past single variable investigation. Ultimately, the result in this paper could be used as a valuable reference to providing priority for energy saving activities in top floor such as cool roof or green roof.

This experiment was carried out at National Crop Experiment Station in 1994 to obtain basic information of growth characters and yield of rice under various nitrogen split application methods on different soil textures in direct seeding on dry paddy. Hwaseongbyeo sown on April 27 by flat drill seeding, and irrigation was done at 3 leaf stage after seedling establishment. Number of seedling stand was 159~177 seedlings per $m^2$ regardless of soil texture and nitrogen application method. Number of panicle per unit area in loam was higher than in sandy loam, and it also was higher in top dressing plots, which were 3 times application at rate of 40-30-30% (3rd leaf stage -7th leaf stage -panicle initiation stage) and 4 times application 10-30-30-30%(basal-3rd leaf stage -7th leaf stage -panicle initiation stage), than in conventional method. Leaf colour, leaf area index and dry matter production at heading stage were highest at top dressing plots among the nitrogen application methods in both sandy loam and loam. Lodging index in top dressing plots increased by low breaking weight with long culm. There were field lodging of degree 3 in top dressing plots. Rice yield in sandy loam, loam increased by 7~9%, 6~9% in top dressing of nitrogen, respectively.

Garment manufacture represents the final stage of processing a finished fabric. The main task of the garment manufacturer is to produce shell structures out of flat fabrics to match the shape of the human body, and the most acceptable means of joining textile materials for apparel use is by sewing. On the sewing process, the bottom layer is pushed forward by the feed-dog, but the presser foot tends to retard the passage of the top layer. Since the friction between the layers is low, is possible that the components will move out of phase and pucker. (omitted)

A new method has been proposed for the calibration of frictional forces in atomic force microscopy. Angle conversion factor is defined using the relationship between torsional angle and frictional signal. Once the factor is obtained from a cantilever, it can be applied to other cantilevers without additional experiments. Moment balance equations on the flat surface and top edge of a commercial step grating are used to obtain angle conversion factor. Proposed method is verified through another step grating test and frictional behavior of Mica.
The paper presents a long-pulse modulator for klystron using a high-voltage solid-state switch and a droop compensator. The modulator guarantees the safe of klystron by limiting the amount of energy transferred to klystron in case of arc. The high performance of the modulator is also achieved by the fast transition time, high flatness and average power. The proposed prototype has produced pulses with a flat-top voltage -90[kV], pulse width 1ms and pulse frequency 200[Hz]. The validity of the long-pulse modulator for klystron has been verified by the simulation and experimental works.

This study aimed to investigate the relationship between ideal images of women and women's clothing fashion England between 1820s and 1850s. The age was divided into two periods, which were 1820-1836 and 1837-1850. During the first period, the ideal images of women were those of fairy, spirit, and angels, which were expressed by tight waist belt, wider and shorter skirt, top expanded sleeve, wide and flat pelerine collar, feather decoration, elaborate and curly hair style, narrow and light ballerina shoes etc.. During the second period, the ideal images for women were those of lady with modesty, quietness, and weakness. They were expressed by long and full skirt, tight or bulge over the lower arm sleeve, dropped sleeve, poke bonnet, body wrapping large shawl and sober color etc.. The result shows that the ideal images of women in 19th century England were concretely expressed by various clothing fashion including hair style, shoes, and decoration. This study sheds light on psychological, historical, and theoretical approaches to clothing.

Earth's bow shock is a transition layer across which properties of plasmas change irreversibly. Although some features of the bow shock are well described by continuities of fluxes of various macroscopic quantities, particle dynamics across the transition layer is very complicated. Observed phase space distributions show multiple ion beams and partially thermalized ions around the transition layer. In some cases, both hot magnetosheath ions and cold solar wind ions simultaneously exist in the magnetosheath. Electrons around the transition layer usually have flat-top distributions with temperature anisotropy. From the observed properties of the phase space distributions we will discuss thermalization processes that occur across the shock transition.

Three-sided concrete culverts can be used to replace short span bridges and multiple sections(barrels) of four-sided concrete box culverts. ASTM Standards do not specify designs for four-sided concrete box culverts with span lengths exceeding 3.6m(12ft) nor do they discuss the three-sided concrete culverts. This paper describes the analysis and design of three-sided flat-top Precast reinforced concrete culverts with span length or 4m(14ft). Both AASHTO and Korean specifications were used to compare the main reinforcing steel. It is shown that the related provisions of Korean specifications result in more conservative design than those of AASHTO specifications.

Switched Reluctance Motors(SRMs) have a considerable inherent torque ripple due to the driving characteristics of pulse current waveform and the nonlinear variation inductance profile. This paper describes a current shape characteristics to effect a torque ripple reduction, and one pulse mode switching control method is proposed to minimize torque ripple of a switched reluctance motor regardless of speed and load condition by regulating tow parameters, such as, advance angle and exciting voltage. The experiments are performed to verify the capability of proposed switching method on 6/4 salient type SRM.
