The numerical thermal frequency responses of the skew sandwich shell panels structure are investigated via a higher-order polynomial shear deformation theory including the thickness stretching effect. A customized MATLAB code is developed using the current mathematical model for the computational purpose. The finite element solution accuracy and consistency have been checked via solving different kinds of numerical benchmark examples taken from the literature. After confirming the standardization of the model, it is further extended to show the effect of different important geometrical parameters such as span-to-thickness ratios, aspect ratios, curvature ratios, core-to-face thickness ratios, skew angles, and support conditions on the frequencies of the sandwich composite flat/curved panel structure under elevated temperature environment.

Recently as flat display panels are getting narrower, TV wall mounts also become slimmer for interior design issue. In this study CFRP(Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastic) was used for TV wall mount to satisfy slim arm design along with enough strength and low weight. The 16 staking sequences was made with orthogonal array to reduce experimental cases. Strength analysis of the TV wall mount arm made of CFRP laminate was studied on condition of staking sequences using FEA(Finite Element Analysis) and stiffness and strength of those cases were evaluated using deflection and Tsai-Wu's Failure criterion. The result showed that [$-45^{\circ}/90^{\circ}/45^{\circ}/0^{\circ}/-45^{\circ}$] lay up case was suitable for the wall mount arm staking design from the criteria of deflection and Tsai-Wu's Failure Index.

In order to compete with other flat display devices such as Liquid Crystal Displays (LCDs) and organic light emitting diodes (OLEDs), Plasma Display Panels (PDPs) require to have high performances like high image quality, low power consumption and high speed driving. In this paper, Fe doped MgO protective layer was introduced for higher performance. Both the surface characteristics of the deposited thin films and the electro-optical properties of 4 inch test panels were investigated. It has been demonstrated experimentally that ac PDP with Fe doped MgO protective layer has lower discharge voltage than that of undoped MgO film, which corresponds to measured secondary electron emission coefficients. The crystallinity and surface roughness of thin films were determined by XRD patterns and AFM images. In addition, ac PDP with Fe doped MgO protective layer has improved address discharge time lag for high speed driving.

In this study, projectiles with 2 kinds of nose shape: spherical and flat were impacted into normal concrete and fiber reinforced concrete panels. The fracture depth and form, crater diameter, tensile strain at rear face were evaluated. It was confirmed that smaller projectile nose areas resulted in deeper penetrations associated with concentrated impact forces and small front-face crater diameters in impact test. Conversely, larger projectile nose areas resulted in shallower penetrations and larger front-face fracture diameters. Similar front-face failure and strain distribution relationships based on the projectile nose shape were observed for normal and fiber-reinforced concrete although the rear-face tensile strain and scabbing were significantly reduced by the fiber reinforcement. In addition, a direct relationship was confirmed between the penetration depth based on the projectile nose shape and the tensile strain on the rear face. Thus the impact strain behavior is required to predict the scabbing behavior with penetration depth.

Recently, the flat display modules such as plasma or TFT-LCD employ thin crystallized panels which are normally weak to high level transient mechanical energy inputs. As a result, anti-shock performance is one of the most important design specifications for TFT-LCD modules. However, most of large display module designs are generated based on engineers own experiences. Also, a large-scale analysis to evaluate complex material and structural behaviors is one of interesting topic in diverse engineering and scientific fields. The utilization of massively parallel processors has also been a recent trend of high performance computing. The objective of this paper is to introduce a parallel process system which consists of general purpose finite element analysis solver as well as parallelized PC cluster. The parallel processing system is constructed using thirty-two processing elements and the finite element program is developed by adopting hierarchical domain decomposition method. In order to verify the efficiency of the established system, an impact analysis on thin and complex sub-parts of flat display modules is performed. The evaluation results showed a good agreement with the corresponding reference solutions, and thus, the parallel process system seems to be a useful tool fur the complex structural analysis such as IT related products.

As the fabrication technology used in FPDs(flat-panel displays) advances, the size of these panels is increasing and the pattern size is decreasing to the um range. Accordingly, a cleaning process during the FPD fabrication process is becoming more important to prevent yield reductions. The purpose of this study is to develop a FPD cleaning system and a cleaning process using a two-phase flow. The FPD cleaning system consists of two parts, one being a cleaning part which includes a two-phase flow nozzle, and the other being a drying part which includes an air-knife and a halogen lamp. To evaluate the particle removal efficiency by means of two-phase flow cleaning, silica particles $1.5{\mu}m$ in size were contaminated onto a six-inch silicon wafer and a four-inch glass wafer. We conducted cleaning processes under various conditions, i.e., DI water and nitrogen gas at different pressures, using a two-phase-flow nozzle with a gap distance between the nozzle and the substrate. The drying efficiency was also tested using the air-knife with a change in the gap distance between the air-knife and the substrate to remove the DI water which remained on the substrate after the two-phase-flow cleaning process. We obtained high efficiency in terms of particle removal as well as good drying efficiency through the optimized conditions of the two-phase-flow cleaning and air-knife processes.
A novel flat steel plate-concrete-corrugated steel plate (FS-C-CS) sandwich panel was proposed for resisting impact load. The failure mode, impact force and displacement response of the FS-C-CS panel under impact loading were studied via drop-weight impact tests. The combined global flexure and local indentation deformation mode of the FS-C-CS panel was observed, and three stages of impact process were identified. Moreover, the effects of corrugated plate height and steel plate thickness on the impact responses of the FS-C-CS panels were quantitatively analysed, and the impact resistant performance of the FS-C-CS panel was found to be generally improved on increasing corrugated plate height and thickness in terms of smaller deformation as well as larger impact force and post-peak mean force. The Finite Element (FE) model of the FS-C-CS panel under impact loading was established to predict its dynamic response and further reveal its failure mode and impact energy dissipation mechanism. The numerical results indicated that the concrete core and corrugated steel plate dissipated the majority of impact energy. In addition, employing end plates and high strength bolts as shear connectors could prevent the slip between steel plates and concrete core and assure the full composite action of the FS-C-CS panel.

The production technologies of free-form concrete panels are emerging to satisfy the need of modern complex shaped in architectural design. This study aims for introducing and improvising the innovative technique called Rod type mold that overcomes the difficulties in some extent by enabling the mold to be used many times, making the shape of the mold adjustable in a flexible way and describing its production process to provide the alternative solution for the construction of free-form mold with considering the features including reusability and optimization cost across its production process. In this study, the freeform concrete panel shape was designed and experiment was done using computerized numeric control machine and rod type mold. The problems appeared on achieving desired shape while operating on rod type mold. The process of identifying all the root causes and contributing causes that may have generated an undesirable condition were done. Consequently, the conical or semicircular shaped was proposed for the end of Numerical control rod and replaced it with the existing flat shaped end to avoid the detachable problem and to improve rod type mold performance.
The influence on flexural strength of Glass/Epoxy laminated composite curved panels of different geometries (cylindrical, spherical, elliptical, hyperboloid and flat) due to inclusion of nano cenosphere filler examined in this research article. The deflection responses of the hybrid structure are evaluated numerically using the isoparametric finite element technique and modelled mathematically via higher-order displacement structural kinematics. To predict the deflection values, a customised in-house computer code in MATLAB environment is prepared using the higher-order isoparametric formulation. Subsequently, the numerical model validity has been established by comparing with those of available benchmark solution including the convergence characteristics of the finite element solution. Further, a few cenosphere filled hybrid composite are prepared for different volume fractions for the experimental purpose, to review the propose model accuracy. The experimental deflection values are compared with the finite element solutions, where the experimental elastic properties are adopted for the computation. Finally, the effect of different variable design dependent parameter and the percentages of nano cenosphere including the geometrical shapes obtained via a set of numerical experimentation.

The area of flat glass panel displays such as LCD (Liquid crystal display) and PDP (Plasma display panel) has been increased more than 2 $\times$ 2 m$^2$ for productivity improvement. However, such a large panel area incurs large panel deflection during panel transfer using robots or AGV (Automated guided vehicle) systems. Therefore, electronic industries are making an effort to find an alternative transfer system for the large glass panels with small deflection. The air conveyor with porous pads is one plausible solution, but it becomes expensive because the large porous pads cost much and air consumption increases as the panel area increases. In this work, a simple air slit levitating conveyor was devised to lower the equipment cost and to reduce the air consumption of system. The air flow model between the LCD glass panel and conveyor was constructed and its validity was verified by experiments. To minimize the air consumption, the conveyor dimensions were optimized, and the air consumptions between the air conveyors with the air slit and that with the porous pad were compared.
