According to the advanced development of Light Weight Torpedo, the overall items related with the parachute type and gore layout and air stabilizer of the parachute for fixed and rotary wing aircraft are described in this paper. Also, the drag-area which should satisfy the firing envelope, parachute inflation characteristics, stability of parachute and torpedo in airdropping, water entry impact on torpedo and parachute constituted the principle design factors. The important trial and errors occurred in the step of performance of the parachute for fixed and rotary wing aircraft are investigated and analyzed.
In this paper, the fatigue load spectrum for tilt rotor UAV is developed and fatigue analysis is achieved for flaperon joint. Tilt rotor UAV has two modes which are helicopter mode when UAV is taking off and landing and fixed wing mode when UAV is cruising. To make fatigue load spectrum, FELIX for helicopter mode and TWIST for fixed wing mode are used. And Fatigue analysis of flaperon joint is achieved using fatigue load spectrum we obtained. When S-N test data are analyzed, we use the Kriging meta model to get probability S-N curve for whole range of material life. The result which is life of flaperon joint obtained by suggested fatigue analysis procedure in this paper is compared with that obtained by MSC/Fatigue.

This paper reviews and summarizes overall fatigue substantiation method of aircraft. The fatigue substantiation method has been studied using the related regulation and examples of industry application. And the comparisons of fatigue substantiation procedure between safe-life and damage tolerance design have been performed. Fatigue substantiation methods have wide variability depend on design methodology and type of aircraft such as fixed wing and rotorcraft. In this study, fatigue substantiation methodologies have been reviewed using analysis and test methods.
In the development of Antiskid Brake System(ABS) for a fixed-wing aircraft, the braking efficiency is the most essential parameters to evaluate the ABS, especially in slippery road conditions. The braking distance and landing distance of the aircraft depends on it. Since the ABS has been designed and implemented as a subsystem of the aircrafts, the braking performance was evaluated under dynamometer test, where the dynamometer emulates the aircraft mass. Under simulated wet road conditions, the dynamometer starts to be braked. This paper suggests practical braking efficiency calculation methods and the results and finally compares each method.
In this study, we aim to eliminate the flickering phenomenon in multi-function display (MFD) units during the flight of fixed-wing aircraft. To execute flight missions effectively, the video signals transmitted to MFDs must provide information accurately and seamlessly. Therefore, a method for addressing the flickering phenomenon-including cause analysis and failure diagnosis-is adopted; specifically, a wiring configuration with a direct connection between the video signal cables and with a short cable length is adopted. The proposed method is experimentally verified using a flight test.

This paper describes the numerical modelling for the steady and unsteady forces of 3-D wings flying near the free surface based on a potential based panel method. For the steady problem where a wing flies over the fixed float surface, steady lift and drag forces are calculated for wings with and without end-plates having different sections, angle of attacks, aspect patios and flying heights. These numerical results are compared with the wind tunnel test results. The unsteady problem is treated as a boundary value one where a wing flies over the described wavy surface. The unsteady lift force variations of a wing due to different wave lengths and heights are calculated at different flying heights.
The aerial launching UAV(Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) mainly uses a set of folding tandem wings to maximize flight performance and minimize the space required for mounting in a mothership. This folding tandem wing has a unique aerodynamic problem that is different from the general type of fixed wing aircraft, such as the rear wing interference problem caused by the wing of the front wing wake and vortex, and the imbalance of the pivot moment applied to the front and rear wings when the wing is deployed. In this paper, we have modeled and simulated various cases through computational fluid dynamics based on the finite volume method and analyzed various aerodynamic phenomena of the tandem wing type aircraft. We find that the front wing shall be installed higher than the rear for minimizing the wake influence and the rear wing can be deployed faster than the front because of the pivot moment due to aerodynamic forces. Also, considering the pivot moment due to aerodynamic force, the rear wing can be deployed much faster than the front wing. Therefore, it is necessary to consider it when developing the wing deploy mechanism.
The lift and drag forces produced by a wing of a given cross-sectional profile are dependent on the wing planform and the angle of attack. Aspect ratio is the ratio of the wing span to the average chord. For conventional fixed wing aircrafts, high aspect ratio wings produce a higher lift to drag ratio than low ones for flight at subsonic speeds. Therefore, high aspect ratio wings are used on aircraft intended for long endurance. However, birds and insects flap their wings to fly in the air and they can change their wing motions. Their wing motions are made up of translation and rotation. Therefore, we tested flapping motions with parameters which affect rotational motion such as the angle of attack and the wing beat frequency. The half elliptic shaped wings were designed with the variation of aspect ratio from 4 to 11. The flapping device was operated in the water to reduce the wing beat frequency according to Reynolds similarity. In this study, the aerodynamic forces, the time-averaged force coefficients and the lift to drag ratio were measured at Reynolds number 15,000 to explore the aerodynamic characteristics with the variation of aspect ratio. The maximum lift coefficient was turned up at AR=8. The mean drag coefficients were almost same values at angle of attack from $10^{\circ}$ to $40^{\circ}$ regardless of aspect ratio, and the mean drag coefficients above angle of attack $50^{\circ}$ were decreased according to the increase of aspect ratio. For flapping motion the maximum mean lift to drag ratio appeared at AR=8.
The purpose of this study was to address a Remote Airborne Control Simulator that could simulate manned-unmanned teaming (MUM-T mission) for fixed wing UAV. With rapid technological development of unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), the mission capability of UAV has tremendously grown. The role of UAV extends from simple reconnaissance to highly automated wingman. Accordingly, the requirement of UAV ground simulator should be modified as well to meet function requirements for simulating a MUM-T mission. A developed remote airborne control simulator was developed for conducting fixed wing UAV MUM-T operation simulations on the ground. The newest MUM-T examples, usage, and application of the developed remote airborne control simulator for MUM-T simulation are also presented in this study.
Currently, the Republic of Korea is facing the problem of a decrease in military service resources due to the demographic cliff, and is pursuing military restructuring and changes in the military force structure in order to respond to this. In this situation, the Army is pushing forward the deployment of a drone-bot combat system that will lead the future battlefield. The battlefield of the future will be changed into an integrated battlefield concept that combines command and control, surveillance and reconnaissance, and precision strike. According to these changes, unmanned combat system, including dronebots, will be widely applied to combat situations that are high risk and difficult for humans to perform in actual combat. In this paper, as one of the countermeasures to these changes, autonomous behavior software with a BDI architecture-based decision-making system was developed. The autonomous behavior software applied a framework structure to improve applicability to multiple models. Its function was verified in a PC-based environment by assuming that the target UAV is a battalion-level surveillance and reconnaissance UAV.
