A RECENT PROGRESS IN ALGORITHMIC ANALYSIS OF FIFO QUEUES WITH MARKOVIAN ARRIVAL STEAMS

  • This paper summarizes recent development of analytical and algorithmical results for stationary FIFO queues with multiple Markovian arrival streams, where service time distributions are general and they may differ for different arrival streams. While this kind of queues naturally arises in considering queues with a superposition of independent phase-type arrivals, the conventional approach based on the queue length dynamics (i.e., M/G/1 pradigm) is not applicable to this kind of queues. On the contrary, the workload process has a Markovian property, so that it is analytically tractable. This paper first reviews the results for the stationary distributions of the amount of work-in-system, actual waiting time and sojourn time, all of which were obtained in the last six years by the author. Further this paper shows an alternative approach, recently developed by the author, to analyze the joint queue length distribution based on the waiting time distribution. An emphasis is placed on how to construct a numerically feasible recursion to compute the stationary queue length mass function.

시추공 3성분 계측 현장실험을 통한 미소지진 모니터링 정확도 향상 연구 (A Study on the Improvement of Microseismic Monitoring Accuracy by Borehole 3-Component Measurement Field Experiments)

  • P파 및 S파의 초동주시를 활용한 역산기법들을 통해 미소지진 모니터링의 진원위치의 정확도를 향상시키기 위해 시추공 3성분 수진기를 이용한 현장실험이 수행되었다. 3성분 수진기의 수평 $\times$ 성분을 자북방향으로 정렬시키고 중추낙하형 발생원을 이용한 실험을 통해 계측자료의 P파 초동의 입자움직임으로부터 진원의 방향을 추정할 수 있었다. 한편 계측자료에서 S파의 식별이 어려운 경우에도 편극필터의 적용으로 S파의 초동주시를 발췌할 수 있었다. P파 초동주시만을 이용한 역산기법은 진원위치에 대한 초기치가 진원으로부터 크게 이격되면 국부적인 최소값으로 수렴하여 정해를 찾지 못하는 경우가 있다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 문제를 해결하기 위해 P파와 S파의 초동주시 차이를 이용한 진원위치 결정방법과 P파 초동주시만을 이용한 역산을 복합적으로 사용한 결과 진원위치의 정확도를 향상시킬 수 있었다.

동적 스케줄링을 위한 분산 도착시간 제어 (Distributed Arrival Time Control) 알고리즘의 개량 (Advanced Distributed Arrival Time Control for Single Machine Problem in Dynamic Scheduling Environment)

  • Distributed arrival time control (DATC) is a distributed feedback control algorithm for real-time scheduling problems in dynamic operational environment. Even though DATC has provided excellent performance for dynamic scheduling problems, it can be improved by considering the following considerations. First, the original DATC heavily depends on the quality of initial solution. In this paper, well-known dispatching rules are incorporated DATC algorithm to enhance its performance. Second, DATC improves its solution with adjusting virtual arrival times of jobs to be scheduled in proportion to the gap between completion time and due date iteratively. Since this approach assigns the same weight to all gaps generated with iterations, it fails to utilize significantly more the latest information (gap) than the previous ones. To overcome this issue we consider exponential smoothing which enable to assign different weight to different gaps. Using these two consideration This paper proposes A-DATC (Advanced-DATC). We demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed scheduling algorithm through computational results.

시스템 내 고객 수에 따라 서비스율과 도착율을 조절하는 M/G/1/K 대기행렬의 분석 (Analysis of an M/G/1/K Queueing System with Queue-Length Dependent Service and Arrival Rates)

  • 대기행렬 시스템에는 고객들의 대기시간이 지나치게 길어지는 것을 막기 위해 다양한 정책들이 적용되는데, 본 연구에서는 고객숫자에 따른 제어 정책을 갖는 유한용량 M/G/1/K 대기행렬을 분석한다. 고객의 숫자에 따라 서버의 서비스율과 고객의 도착율을 조절하는 정책이다. 두 개의 한계점(thresholds) $L_1$$L_2$($${\geq_-}$$L1)를 설정하고 시스템 내 고객의 숫자가 $L_1$보다 작을 때는 시스템은 보통(또는 상대적으로 느린)의 서비스율(service rate)과 보통의 도착율(arrival rate)을 갖는다. 고객의 숫자가 증가하여 $L_1$이상이고 $L_2$보다 작으면 도착율은 그대로 이지만 서비스율을 증가시켜 빠르게 서비스한다. 이후 고객의 숫자가 더욱 증가하여 $L_2$ 이상이면 고객의 도착율도 작은 값으로 바꾸어 고객을 덜 입장시킨다. 위 정책을 갖는 M/G/1/K 대기행렬을 내재점 마코프 체인과 준-마코프 과정을 이용하여 분석하고 수치예제를 제시한다.

수치모형실험을 통한 콘크리트 구조물의 결함탐지에 관한 연구 (Numerical Experiments for Detecting Voids and Defects Inside Concrete)

  • In this study, First, the results of travel-time inversion (first arrival inversion using the travel-time of the first arrival) were compared with those of full-wave inversion for numerical data. Numerical experiments to find key parameters other than initial velocity model showed that the frequency of source has a great effect on the result of full-wave inversion. Finally, this research presented the corrected full-wave inversion applying the correction term to the final result of full-wave inversion. The corrected full-wave inversion depicted cavities inside concretes even when the inversion started with 20% error in an initial velocity model for cavities. However, full-wave inversion did not reveal cavities.

BUSY PERIOD DISTRIBUTION OF A BATCH ARRIVAL RETRIAL QUEUE

  • This paper is concerned with the analysis of the busy period distribution in a batch arrival $M^X/G/1$ retrial queue. The expression for the Laplace-Stieltjes transform of the length of the busy period is well known, but from this expression we cannot compute the moments of the length of the busy period by direct differentiation. This paper provides a direct method of calculation for the first and second moments of the length of the busy period.

신호등 교차로에서의 지체예측에 관한 연구 (A Model for the Estimation of Delay Signalized Intersections)

  • The purpose of this thesis is to construct a model to estimate the delay that vehicles arriving randomly will be experienced at an isolated singalized intersection. To do this the following objectives are set in this study: (i) An what distance a random arrival pattern occurs after a platoon of vehicles are dis-charged from the stop line; (ii) A model which estimates the average delay per through-vehicle with respect to the de-gree of saturation; and (iii) The relation between the stepped delay and average approach delay per vehicle. The following are the findings of this study: (i) A random arrival pattern on the first second and third lanes occur 300,400 and 300m downstream from stop line rdspectively. A random arrival pattern on lane group occurs 500m downstream from the stop line ; (ii) A model for the estimation of approach delay has been developed in such a way that up to x=0.7 the delay increases linearly and beyond 0.7 the delay increases rapidly in a form of second order polynomial due to high degree of saturation : and (iii) Approach delay equals approximately 1.21 times of stopped delay.

유도초음파를 이용한 수중 강관의 기계적 결함 검출 (Mechanically Fabricated Defects Detection on Underwater Steel Pipes using Ultrasonic Guided Waves)

  • This study presents a detection method for mechanically fabricated defects on underwater steel pipes, using ultrasonic guided waves. Three different diameters (60, 90, and 114 mm) of 1000-mm long steel pipes were considered, along with several experimental design factors such as incident angles, incident distances, and the degrees of defects, to investigate how these factors affected the experimental results - the detectability of the mechanical defects. From the experimental results, we determined that the amplitude and arrival time of the first received wave signals gave a promising clue for distinguishing the existence of the defects and their severities. Between the amplitude and arrival time, the arrival time gave a more promising indication since it was affected by the experimental factors in a constant manner. Therefore, it was shown that the use of ultrasonic guided waves for underwater pipe inspection is feasible.

합류하는 두 항공기간 도착순서 결정에 대한 로지스틱회귀 예측 모형 (Prediction Model with a Logistic Regression of Sequencing Two Arrival Flows)

  • This paper has its purpose on constructing a prediction model of the arrival sequencing strategy which reflects the actual sequencing patterns of air traffic controllers. As the first step, we analyzed a pair-wise sequencing of two aircraft entering TMA from different entering points. Based on the historical trajectory data, several traffic factors such as time, speed and traffic density were examined for the model. With statistically significant factors, we constructed a prediction model of arrival sequencing through a binary logistic regression analysis. With the estimated coefficients, the performance of the model was conducted through a cross validation.

파형분석에의한 영월지진의 특성 (Characteristics of the Yeongwol Earthquake based on the phase analysis)

  • The seismic records of the main shock and two after shocks of the Yeongwol Earthquake are studied based on the phsase analysis. The travel time curves with 12 different possible phases are constructed to analysis the phases of the records. which were provided by KIGAM seismic network. The results of phase analysis show that 1) The main shock (Ms=4.5) shows clear Pn phase but two after shocks (Ms=4 and Ms=2.5) do not show Pn phase. 2) The Pg or PmP phases look as first arrival phase in the after shock records whose edicental distance is smaller or larger than 150 km. 3) It is very difficult to identity the phases related to the Conrad discontinuity even if the Conrad discontiuity arrival exists. 4) The record of GRE station located outside of the Kueongsan Basin shows different arrival time of Pn phase, P-S duration time and frequency compared with those of the other stations located within the Kyeongsan Basin.
