국내 제조업 화재사고 데이터 분석을 통한 복합 유해·위험요인 확인 (Identifying Hazard of Fire Accidents in Domestic Manufacturing Industry Using Data Analytics)

  • Revising the Occupational Safety and Health Act led to enacting and revising related laws and systems, such as placing fire observers in hot workplaces. However, the operating standards in such cases are still ambiguous. Although fire accidents occur through multiple and multi-step factors, the hazards of fire accidents have been identified in this study as individual rather than interrelated factors. The aim has been to identify multiple factors of accidents, outlining fire and explosion accidents that recently occurred in the domestic manufacturing industry. First, major keywords were extracted through text mining. Then representative accident types were derived by combining the main keywords through the co-word network analysis to identify the hazards and their relationships. The representative fire accidents were identified as six types, and their major hazards were then addressed for improving safety measures using the identification of hazards in the "Risk Assessment" tool. It is found that various safety measures, such as professional fire observers' training and clear placement standards, are needed. This study will provide useful basic data for revising practical laws and guidelines for fire accident prevention, system supplementation, safety policy establishment, and future related research.

해양플랜트의 화재 및 폭발 예측을 위한 메탄 연소의 CFD 시뮬레이션 (CFD Simulation of Methane Combustion for Estimation of Fire and Explosion in Offshore Plant)

  • Because of the recent increase in maritime cargo capacity, the production and price of crude oil have been rising. As oil prices have risen, many problems have occurred in the industry. To solve these problems, marine resources are being actively developed, and there has been an increase in the orders for special vessels and marine structures for the development of marine resources. However, consequently, various kinds of accidents have also occurred in these special vessels and structures. One of the major types of accidents involves fire and explosion, which cause many casualties and property damage. Therefore, various studies to estimate and prevent such accidents have been carried out. In this study, as basic research for the prevention of fire and explosion, numerical simulations on combustion were carried out by using a commercial grid generation program, Gridgen, and a CFD program, ANSYS-CFX. The influences of some parameters, such as the grid system, turbulence model, turbulent dissipation rate, and so on, on the simulation results were investigated, and optimum ones were chosen. It was found that the present results adopting these parameters agreed moderately well with other experimental and numerical ones.

산업 현장에 적용할 수 있는 휴대형 정전기 측정기 설계 및 구현 (Design and Implementation of Portable Electrostatic Meter Applicable to Industrial Site)

  • In this paper, We propose a portable electrostatic meter which can measure high voltage static electricity caused by friction to prevent fire or explosion accidents in grinding, crushing, power injection, transport, filling, dust removal, painting, and foreign matter removal processes. The proposed device not only shows static electricity strength in 4 steps with respect to distance and voltage but also gives warning with a buzzer, on process facilities that are likely to generate high voltage static electricity due to friction. The device is implemented by filtering the signal detected by the wireless antenna, amplifying the signal by 6 times, and passing the signal through the integrator circuit. Tests are carried out with an electrostatic discharge simulator. And the results show that 4 LEDs are turned on at the distance of 10cm, 3 LEDs at 12cm, 2 LEDs at 13cm, and 1 LED at 15cm, when a fixed voltage of 500V is given. And also, the tests show that the static electricity can be detected at 5cm on 100V, 10cm on 200V, 15cm on 500V, 20cm on 1000V, and 25cm on 1500V. We expect to reduce accidents caused by static electricity by allowing safety managers on fields where fire or explosion accidents can happen to monitor static electricity.

노말에틸아닐린의 화재 및 폭발 특성치의 측정 및 예측 (Measurement and Prediction of Fire and Explosion Properties of n-Ethylanilne)

  • 공정안전을 위해서는 산업현장에서 취급하는 가연성물질의 화재 및 폭발 특성치가 있어야 한다. 사업장에서 사고를 예방하기 위한 연소특성치로 인화점, 연소점, 전폭발한계, 최소자연발화온도 등을 들 수 있다. 그러나 물질보건안전자료(MSDS)에서 제시하고 있는 특성치는 문헌들에 따라 달리 제시되고 있는데, 가연성물질을 안전하게 처리, 수송, 취급하기 위해서는 정확한 연소특성치가 필요하다. 화학산업에서 중간제품, 고무약품 등의 원료로 다양하게 사용되고 있는 노말에틸아닐린을 선정하였다. 그리고 노말에틸아닐린 안전한 취급을 위해서 인화점, 연소점 그리고 최소자연발화온도를 측정하였다. 노말에틸아닐린의 폭발하한계는 실험에서 얻어진 하부인화점을 이용하여 계산하였다. 노말에틸아닐린의 Setaflash 밀폐식은 $77^{\circ}C$, Pensky-Martens 밀폐식에서는 $82^{\circ}C$ 그리고 Tag 개방식에서는 $85^{\circ}C$, Cleveland 개방식에서는 $92^{\circ}C$로 측정되었다. ASTM E659 장치에 의한 측정된 노말에틸아닐린의 최소자연발화온도는 $396^{\circ}C$로 측정되었다. Setaflash 밀폐식에 의해 측정된 노말에틸아닐린의 하부인화점 $77^{\circ}C$에 의한 폭발하한계는 1.02 vol%로 계산되었다. 본 연구에서는 밀폐식에 의해 측정된 노말에틸아닐린의 하부인화점을 이용하여 폭발하한계의 예측이 가능하였다. 본 연구에서 제시된 노말에틸아닐린의 발화온도와 발화지연시간의 관계식은 노말에틸아닐린의 다른 발화온도에서도 발화지연시간의 예측이 가능해졌다.

전압인가식 제전기의 방전에 의한 가연성가스의 폭발에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Inflammable Gas Explosion Triggered by the Electric Discharge Static Eliminator on Voltage Application Type)

  • 정전기 방전에 의하여 주위의 가연성 가스에 폭발을 일으킬 수 있는 가스관련시설, 석유화 학 공장, 화약공장, 필름생산공장, 반도체 공장 등과 같은 가연성 가스를 주로 취급하는 장소에서는 정전기를 제거하기 위해 제전기를 사용하고 있다. 본 연구에서는 이들 장소에서 주로 사용되고 있는 전압인가식제전기(static eliminator)의 Bar에서 발생하는 방전에 의한 가연성 가스의 폭발현상을 고찰하였다. 가연성 가스는 수소, 에틸렌, 프로판, 메탄 가스 등을 사용하였으며, 제전기의 이온발생 Bar의 길이, 이온발생 전극의 수 및 이온발생 전극에 인가되는 전압의 변화에 따른 점화 현상을 연구하였다. 연구결과 Bar의 길이가 짧을수록 폭발의 위험성이 증가됨을 확인할 수 있었으며 또한 900㎜이상의 Bar에서 전극의 수가 1개인 경우 일반적으로 사용하는 가연성 가스에서는 점화가 되지 않음을 알 수 있었다.

Consequence Analysis를 통한 도시가스 사고 피해 예측에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Prediction of City Gas Accident Damage by Consequence Analysis)

  • 최근 산업계에서 가장 큰 화두는 산업안전보건관리에 대한 영역이다. 도시가스는 인화성 가스로 화재 및 폭발의 위험이 크기 때문에 중대 산업 및 시민 재해를 예방하기 위해 많은 노력이 요구된다. 본 연구에서는 도시가스 안전관리의 일환으로 Consequence Analysis를 통해 도시가스 누출에 의한 폭발사고 발생 시 피해 범위 및 정도를 정량적으로 예측하고자 하였다. 그 결과 압력, 기상상황 등 다양한 누출조건에 따라 분석결과 값에 차이를 보였다. 본 연구를 통해 도시가스 안전관리업무 수행 시 도시가스 누출에 의한 사고의 시나리오를 마련하여 보다 효과적인 사고예방과 비상조치계획을 마련하는데 활용할 예정이다.

승객용 승강기의 재해예방에 관한 연구 (Accident Prevention Counterplen of the Elevator for the Passenger)

  • Recently the car and elevator accidents as well as the fire, explosion and collapse increased. The passenger elevator accident from 1993 year to 2001 year has about 56.7% of total accidents and the human victims of 180 according to the Korea Elevator Safety Institute. Accident cause and prevention were investigated for the elevator having the fall, impact and narrowness accident types. The prevention and protection methods of the elevator accident from analysis results were suggested by comparing and analogizing the accident statistics about the accident investigation of the passenger elevator according to the elevator accidents.

화학사고 원인분석을 통한 예방대책 수립에 관한 연구 (A Study on Prevention Measure Establishment through Cause Analysis of Chemical-Accidents)

  • Even if several chemical accident prevention systems such as PSM(Process Safety Management), RMP(Risk Management Plan), etc. have been carried out, many chemical accidents have still occurred at industrial plants in Korea. We describe the status of chemical industry and the trend of occurrence of chemical accidents in Korea. And this paper analyzes the recent chemical accidents in eight ways. These ways include chemical accident forms, ignition sources, sources of chemical equipment, human vs equipment/material causes, worker's working situation, employee scale, hazardous substances, week & time, fatalities of manufacture & contractor's workers. Finally we proposes the four representative prevention measures brought to result of cause analysis by accident statistics.

2차전지 용액인 DEC(Diethyl Carbonate) + DMMP(Dimethyl Methylphosphonate)계의 연소특성치 측정 및 예측 (Measurement and Prediction of Combustion Characteristics of DEC(Diethyl Carbonate) + DMMP(Dimethyl Methylphosphonate) for Secondary Battery Solutions)

  • Lithium ions can induce the thermal runaway phenomenon and lead to reignition due to electrical, mechanical, and environmental factors such as high temperature, smoke generation, explosions, or flames, which is extremely likely to create safety concerns. Therefore, one of the ways to improve the flame retardancy of the electrolyte is to use a flame-retardant additive. Comparing the associated characteristic value of existing substances with the required experimental value, it was found that these values were either considerably different or were not documented. It is vital to know a substance's combustion characteristic values, flash point, explosion limit, and autoignition temperature (AIT) as well as its combustion characteristics before using it. In this research, the flash point and AIT of materials were measured by mixing a highly volatile and flammable substance, diethyl carbonate (DEC), with flame-retardant dimethyl methylphosphonate (DMMP). The flash point of DEC, which is a pure substance, was 29℃, and that for DMMP was 65℃. Further, the lower explosion limit calculated using the measured flash point of DEC was 1.79 Vol.%, while that for DMMP was 0.79 Vol.%. The AIT was 410℃ and 390℃ for DEC and DMMP, respectively. In particular, since the AIT of DMMP has not been discussed in any previous study, it is necessary to ensure safety through experimental values. In this study, the experimental and regression analysis revealed that the average absolute deviation (ADD) for the flash point of the DEC+DMMP DEC+DMMP system is 0.58 sec and that the flash point tends to increase according to changes in the composition employed. It also revealed that the AAD for the AIT of the mixture was 3.17 sec and that the AIT tended to decrease and then increase based on changes in the composition.

정전기 방전에 의한 개소린-공기혼합기체의 최소착화에너지에 관한 연구 (The Study about The Minimum Ignition Energy for Electrostatic Discharge in The Gasoline-air Mixture)

  • Electrostatic charge is generated in large scale or high speed processes dealing with materials with large resistance, or under complicated condition. Fire and explosion often occur due to electrostatic charge accumulated in flammable gases, vapor, liquids and powder. It is usually very difficult to verify the cause of accidents as well as the prevention. In this study, it is shown that the needle electrode needs the electrode gap from 1.8mm to 3.8mm, sphere electrode and plate electrodes need the electrode gap of 1.9mmfor the minimum ignition energy. The sphere electrode and the plate electrode requires 12.8mJ and 3.2mJ of minimum ignition energy respectively with the electrode gap of 1.1mm. The ignition voltage rises to very large value as the ground resistance increases.
