A decision-theoretic concept is introduced to investigate whether targets of interest in array sensor systems are present at some steering direction or not. The solutions to this problem are described as a set of simple numbers 0 or 1 corresponding to the direction under consideration. This coded number representation is transplanted in the optimisation technique based on the Hopfield neural network, which may provide a new aspect of determining the direction of arrival (DOA) of sources. To cast the perspectives of the proposed approach and illustrate its effectiveness in source direction finding in array sensor systems, simulation results and related discussions are presented in this paper.

The use of web service has been increased rapidly, with an increase in the number of available services, finding the exact service is the challenging task. Service discovery is the most significant job to complete the service discoverers needs. In order to achieve the efficient service discovery, we focus on designing a cluster based service discovery model for service registering and service provisioning among all mobile nodes in a mobile ad hoc network (MANETs). A dynamic backbone of nodes (i.e. cluster heads) that forms a service repository to which MANET nodes can publish their services and/or send their service queries. The designed model is based on storing services with their service description on cluster head nodes that are found in accordance with the proposed cluster head election model. In addition to identifying and analyzing the system parameters for finding the effectiveness of our model, this paper studies the stability analysis of the network, overhead of the cluster, and bandwidth utilization and network traffic is evaluated using analytic derivations and experimental evaluation has been done.

The Support Vector Data Description (SVDD) has achieved great success in anomaly detection, directly finding the optimal ball with a minimal radius and center, which contains most of the target data. The SVDD has some limited classification capability, because the hyper-sphere, even in feature space, can express only a limited region of the target class. This paper presents an anomaly detection algorithm for mitigating the limitations of the conventional SVDD by finding the minimum volume enclosing ellipsoid in the feature space. To evaluate the performance of the proposed approach, we tested it with intrusion detection applications. Experimental results show the prominence of the proposed approach for anomaly detection compared with the standard SVDD.
Wireless sensor networks are composed of many wireless sensor nodes that are sensing the environments. These networks have many constraints that are resource constraints, wireless communication, self-construction, etc. But they have many applications that are monitoring environment, tracking the object, etc. In this paper, a mechanism of finding QoS Satisfied multi-path is proposed in wireless sensor networks. In order to satisfy the QoS requirement, the proposed mechanism extends the AODV protocol to find multiple paths from a source node to a destination node by using the additional AODV message types that are proposed. This mechanism will be used to support many QoS applications such as minimum delay time, the better reliability and the better throughput by using the QoS satisfied multi-path. Overheads of the proposed mechanism are evaluated using simulation, and it is showed that QoS satisfied multiple paths are found with a little more overhead than the AODV mechanism.

In this report, we describe the incidental finding of an oropharyngeal mass in a patient who presented with a chief complaint of temporomandibular pain. The patient was initially evaluated by an otorhinolaryngologist for complaints of headaches, earache, and sinus congestion. Due to worsening headaches and trismus, he was further referred for the management of temporomandibular disorder. The clinical evaluation was uneventful except for limited mouth opening (trismus). An advanced radiological evaluation using magnetic resonance imaging revealed a mass in the nasopharyngeal/oropharyngeal region. The mass occupied the masticatory space and extended superioinferiorly from the skull base to the mandible. A diagnostic biopsy of the lesion revealed a longstanding human papilloma virus (HPV16)positive squamous cell carcinoma of the oropharynx. This case illustrates the need for the timely radiological evaluation of seemingly innocuous orofacial pain.
Finding publications that propose alternative methods to animal experiments is an important but time-consuming task since researchers need to perform various queries to literature databases and screen many articles to assess two important aspects: the relevance of the article to the research question, and whether the article's proposed approach qualifies to being an alternative method. We are currently developing a Web application to support finding alternative methods to animal experiments. The current (under development) version of the application utilizes external tools and resources for document processing, and relies on the PubAnnotation ecosystem for annotation querying, annotation storage, dictionary-based tagging of cell lines, and annotation visualization. Currently, our two PubAnnotation repositories for discourse elements contain annotations for more than 110k PubMed documents. Further, we created an annotator for cell lines that contain more than 196k terms from Cellosaurus. Finally, we are experimenting with TextAE for annotation visualization and for user feedback.
Dimensional synthesis of planar and spatial mechanisms mostly requires solution-finding, procedure for a system of polynomial equations. In case the system is nonlinear, numerical techniques like Newton-Raphson are often used. But there are no logical ways for finding all possible solutions in such iterative methods. In this paper, algebraic elimination is used to get all solutions for the synthesis of 5-SS spatial mechanism with seven prescribed positions. The proposed algorithm is more suitable for computer implementation and takes less time than existing one. Two numerical examples are given to demonstrate the implemented algorithm.
This paper presents a study of a position finding system using PSD Sensor and Pan/Tilt. The position of PSD(Position Sensitive Detector) sensor is calculated by the degree of pan-tilt and the difference in height between pan-tilt and PSD. For that, the DSP which control pan-tilt is used for precise operation. The PIC microcontroller process PSD sensor data that indicate light incident position. A user using computer can acquire the conditions of pan-tilt and PSD and issue an order.
Sufficient conditions concerning the perturbation region of system parameters, which guarantee the asymptotic stability of linear time- varying systems, are presented. These conditions are obtained by Lyapunov function approach for continuous-time and discrete-time systems. Also, a computational algorithm using nonlinear programming is proposed for finding the maximum perturbation region which satisfies the sufficient condition for the continuous-time systems. The technique of finding the solution for the continuous-time systems can also be applied to the discrete-time systems. In the continuous-time case, it is shown by an example that the method proposed in this paper yields much larger perturbation region of parameters than other previously reported results. An example of the perturbation region of system paramters for the discrete-time system is also given.
This paper presents a new numerical method to analyse tensegrity structures by using singular value decomposition and force method. The tensegrity system consisting of compressive and tensle elements are pin-jointed system. Tensegrity structures, unlike the general structure should be preceded by form-finding. Tensegrity structures form-finding of the self-equilibrium stress stability, seeking to have the process. In this study, tensegrity structures when subjected to external loads, find the optimal pre-stress values was studied.
