  • In designing heterogeneous architecture based application-specific network-on-chips (NoCs), the opportunities of performance improvement would be expanded when applying asynchronous on-chip communication protocol. This is because the wire latency can be configured independently considering the wirelength of each link. In this paper, we develop the delay model of link-wire-length in asynchronous NoC and propose simulated annealing (SA) based floorplan-aware topology generation algorithm to optimize link-wirelengths. Incorporating the generated topology and the associated latency values across all links, we evaluate the performance using the floorplan-annotated sdf (standard delay format) file and RTL-synthesized gate-level netlist. Compared to TopGen, one of general topology generation algorithms, the experimental results show the reduction in latency by 13.7% and in execution time by 11.8% in average with regards to four applications.

  • The final aim of the present study is to develop the intelligent robot, emulating human synesthetic skills which make it possible to associate a color image with a specific sound. This can be done on the basis of the mutual conversion between color image and sound. As a first step of the final goal, this study focused on a basic system using a conversion of color image into sound. This study describes a proposed method to convert color image into sound, based on the likelihood in the physical frequency information between light and sound. The method of converting color image into sound was implemented by using HSI histograms through RGB-to-HSI color model conversion, which was done by Microsoft Visual C++ (ver. 6.0). Two different color images were used on the simulation experiments, and the results revealed that the hue, saturation and intensity elements of each input color image were converted into fundamental frequency, harmonic and octave elements of a sound, respectively. Through the proposed system, the converted sound elements were then synthesized to automatically generate a sound source with wav file format, using Csound.

  • Especially for resolving BIM data compatibility issue, as one of recently raised BIM technology issues, has also been improved by using open BIM, representatively using IFC (Industry Foundation Classes) format. As shown in many case studies, usefulness of BIM technology is increasing day by day, and the IFC-based open BIM technology is essential in recent AEC projects where the productive collaboration is of importance. One of current problems in actual projects is that there is a conflict between conventional ways and newly developed BIM ways. Using both conventional and new technologies leads construction workers to having more work loads, consequently the efficiency and productivity of on-site workers have been decreased. Thus, it is strongly necessary to facilitate 3D BIM models to extract and generate 2D precision drawings in automation, especially using open BIM technologies. Some native BIM authoring tools have limitations in there automatic generation of 2D drawings, and there is no standardized mechanism to generate 2D drawings from heterogeneous applications. For this reason, this paper aims to develop an automated stand-alone program to generate 2D drawings in automation using IFC file, totally independent from various BIM authoring tools. By using the application described in this paper, any type of general drawings such as plan, section and elevation can be extracted without additional efforts. The development approach described in this paper, based on the open BIM technologies, has a strong impact to the current process especially in the perspective of enhancing productivity when we need to find out a trade-off in-between conventional and new approaches.

  • Recently, great demands are rising around the globe for monitoring and studying of long-term ecological changes. To go with the stream, many researchers in South Korea have attempted to share and integrate ecological data for practical use. Although some achievements were made in the meantime, we still have to overcome a big obstacle that existing ecological data in South Korea are mostly spread all over the country in various formats of computer files. In this study, we aim to handle the situation by developing a semi-automatic data conversion tool for Korean ecological data standardization, based on some predefined protocols for ecological data collection and management. The current implementation of this tool works on only five species (libythea celtis, spittle bugs, mosquitoes, pinus, and quercus mongolica), helping data managers to quickly and efficiently obtain a standardized format of ecological data from raw collection data. With this tool, the procedure of data conversion is divided into four steps: data file and protocol selection step, species selection step, attribute mapping step, and data standardization step. To find the usability of this tool, we utilized it to conduct the standardization of raw five species data collected from six different observatory sites of Korean National Parks. As a result, we could obtain a common form of standardized data in a relatively short time. With the help of this tool, various ecological data could be easily integrated into the nationwide common platform, providing broad applicability towards solving many issues in ecological and environmental system.

  • Researchers have suggested several methods for utilizing various kinds of services in an Internet of Things (IoT) environment. These methods require users to learn some new kinds of tools or expertise in programming. In this paper, we propose a new paradigm, which allows end-users to build IoT-service mashups based on a presentation-authoring scheme. We have also included a framework for this procedure. The design of a mashup model in this framework was based on a task-oriented service framework. Users can build a mashup of this framework in the presentation-file format, convert it into a service flow, and deploy it for running in an IoT environment. In addition, we use a case study to show how PowMash supports end-users' service mashups in an IoT environment.

  • Several commercial companies that plan to provide improved panchromatic and/or multi-spectral remote sensor data in the near future are suggesting that merge datasets will be of significant value. This study evaluated the utility of one major merging process-process components analysis and its inverse. The 6 bands of 30$\times$30m Landsat TM data and the 10$\times$l0m SPOT panchromatic data were used to create a new 10$\times$10m merged data file. For the image classification, 6 bands that is 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 7th band may be used in conjunction with supervised classification algorithms except band 6. One of the 7 bands is Band 6 that records thermal IR energy and is rarely used because of its coarse spatial resolution (120m) except being employed in thermal mapping. Because SPOT panchromatic has high resolution it makes 10$\times$10m SPOT panchromatic data be used to classify for the detailed classification. SPOT as the Landsat has acquired hundreds of thousands of images in digital format that are commercially available and are used by scientists in different fields. After the merged, the classifications used supervised classification and neural network. The method of the supervised classification is what used parallelepiped and/or minimum distance and MLC(Maximum Likelihood Classification) The back-propagation in the multi-layer perception is one of the neural network. The used method in this paper is MLC(Maximum Likelihood Classification) of the supervised classification and the back-propagation of the neural network. Later in this research SPOT systems and images are compared with these classification. A comparative analysis of the classifications from the TM and merged SPOT/TM datasets will be resulted in some conclusions.

  • In existing internet, e-mail protocols including POP3 and IMAP4, provide e-mail services fir exchanging messages with texts, hypertext and images as well. For the e-mail services in wireless mobile network, mobile e-mail service providers have to install a mobile exclusive e-mail server or have to convert e-mail to mobile exclusive e-mail with wireless application format in case of POP3 protocol. In the e-mail service of IMAP4 case known as web-mail, it is difficult to view e-mail directly from server without IMAP4 mobile client because e-mail is stored in mail server side with remote file server. In either case, it also has the problems of viewing the e-mail of hypertext and image information at mobile. This paper provides e-mail extraction engine with image and hypertext conversion facilities that can be applied in wireless mobile internet and it is optimized in mobile communication environments such as a small display, small size of memory with web-mail protocol based on IMAP4 as well as POP3 mail protocol.

  • The final aim of the present study is to build a system of converting a color image into musical elements based on a synesthetic perception, emulating human synesthetic skills, which make it possible to associate a color image with a specific sound. This can be done on the basis of the similarities between physical frequency information of both light and sound. As a first step, an input true color image is converted into hue, saturation, and intensity domains based on a color model conversion theory. In the next step, musical elements including note, octave, loudness, and duration are extracted from each domain of the HSI color model. A fundamental frequency (F0) is then extracted from both hue and intensity histograms. The loudness and duration are extracted from both intensity and saturation histograms, respectively. In experiments, the proposed system on the conversion of a color image into musical elements was implemented using standard C and Microsoft Visual C++(ver. 6.0). Through the proposed system, the extracted musical elements were synthesized to finally generate a sound source in a WAV file format. The simulation results revealed that the musical elements, which were extracted from an input RGB color image, reflected in its output sound signals.

  • Recently, we extract the representative melody of the music and index the music to reduce searching time at the content-based music retrieval system. The existing study has used MIDI data to extract a representative melody but it has a weak point that can use only MIDI data. Therefore, this paper proposes a representative melody retrieval method that can be use at all audio file format and uses digital signal processing. First, we use Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) and find the tempo and node for the representative melody retrieval. And we measure the frequency of high value that appears from PCM Data of each node. The point which the high value is gathering most is the starting point of a representative melody and an eight node from the starting point is a representative melody section of the audio data. To verity the performance of the method, we chose a thousand of the song and did the experiment to extract a representative melody from the song. In result, the accuracy of the extractive representative melody was 79.5% among the 737 songs which was found tempo.

  • Recently, BIM has attracted attention as a technology to improve the construction productivity. The BIM standards to be applied to the BIM project are necessary for using or connecting the current 2D-based drawing standards. To develop the standard for BIM-based QTO and cost, this paper focused on using QDBEx, which was applied to road project cost management and connecting QDBEx with IFC, which is the BIM data delivery format. The IFC schema was evaluated to determine if it is possible to use the converts to the QDBEx XML file. As a result, 66% of the whole was available to connect directly, and 17% was available to connect through the processing of instance. The remaining 17% was evaluated to determine if it was available to connect. In the future, improvements in the schema will be suggested based on these results.
