In this study, two original spectral representations of stationary stochastic fields, say the continuous proper orthogonal decomposition (CPOD) and the frequency-wavenumber spectral representation (FWSR), are derived from the Fourier-Stieltjes integral at first. Meanwhile, the relations between the above two representations are discussed detailedly. However, the most widely used conventional Monte Carlo schemes associated with the two representations still leave two difficulties unsolved, say the high dimension of random variables and the incompleteness of probability with respect to the generated sample functions of the stochastic fields. In view of this, a dimension-reduction model involving merely one elementary random variable with the representative points set owing assigned probabilities is proposed, realizing the refined description of probability characteristics for the stochastic fields by generating just several hundred representative samples with assigned probabilities. In addition, for the purpose of overcoming the defects of simulation efficiency and accuracy in the FWSR, an improved scheme of non-uniform wavenumber intervals is suggested. Finally, the Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) algorithm is adopted to further enhance the simulation efficiency of the horizontal stochastic wind velocity fields. Numerical examplesfully reveal the validity and superiorityof the proposed methods.
Three dimensional turbulent flow fields around ships are simulated by a numerical method. Reynolds Averaged Navier-Stokes equations are used where Reynolds stresses are approximated by Baldwin-Lomax and Sub-Grid Scale(SGS) turbulence models. Body-fitted coordinate system is introduced to conform three dimensional ship geometries. The governing equations are discretized by a finite volume method. Temporal derivatives are approximated by the forward differencing and the convection terms are approximated by the QUICK or Kawamura scheme. The 2nd-order centered differencing is used for other spatial derivatives. Pressure and velocity fields are simultaneously iterated by the Highly Simplified Marker-And-Cell method. To verify the numerical method and turbulence models, flow fields around ships are simulated and compared to the experiments.
In this paper, free vibration of rotating beam with random properties is studied. The cross-sectional area, elasticity modulus, moment of inertia, shear modulus and density are modeled as random fields and the rotational speed as a random variable. To study uncertainty, stochastic finite element method based on second order perturbation method is applied. To discretize random fields, the three methods of midpoint, interpolation and local average are applied and compared. The effects of rotational speed, setting angle, random property variances, discretization scheme, number of elements, correlation of random fields, correlation function form and correlation length on "Coefficient of Variation" (C.O.V.) of first mode eigenvalue are investigated completely. To determine the significant random properties on the variation of first mode eigenvalue the sensitivity analysis is performed. The results are studied for both Timoshenko and Bernoulli-Euler rotating beam. It is shown that the C.O.V. of first mode eigenvalue of Timoshenko and Bernoulli-Euler rotating beams are approximately identical. Also, compared to uncorrelated random fields, the correlated case has larger C.O.V. value. Another important result is, where correlation length is small, the convergence rate is lower and more number of elements are necessary for convergence of final response.
In order to study the effects of cropping system and fungicide (Dachigaren) on soil microbes, the seasonal fluctuations of soil microbes in the fields of radish and Chinese cabbage including soil pH, Soil moisture content and soil temperature were investigated on every 15 day interval from the begining of March to late October in 1981. The population of total fungus peaked at the begining of July, while that of total bacteria, at the begining of August. They were affected by soil temperature, however pathogenic microbes seemed to be more related with host plants than the soil temperature, because pathogens showed high density through the whole cultivation period. The pathogenic microbes showed the density of order ; Xanthomonas, Erwinia, Pseudomonas, Agrobacterium and Corynebacterium. Xanthomonas, Erwinia and Pseudomonas, which induced radish and Chinese cabbage diseases were higher than Agrobacterium and Corynebacterium in population densigy. Bacterial soft rot occured at the density of Erwinia $5.9{\sim}6.6{\times}10^5/dry$ soil 1 gram. The density of microbes on continuous fields were higher than that of rotating fields, but there were no significant difference between treated fungicide plot and non treated in the density of microbes, also no difference between Chinese cabbage and radish growing fields.

The images of MODerate resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) that provide wider swath and shorter revisit frequency than Land Satellite (Landsat) and Satellite Pour I' Observation de la Terre (SPOT) has been used fer land cover classification with better spatial resolution than National Oceanic and Atmosphere Administration/Advanced Very High Resolution Radiometer (NOAA/AVHRR)'s images. Due to the advantages of MODIS, several researches have conducted, however the results for the land cover classification using MODIS images have less accuracy of classification in small areas because of low spatial resolution. In this study, uncertainty of paddy fields classification using MODIS images was conducted in the region of Gyeonggi-do and the relation between this uncertainty of estimating paddy fields and topographical factors was also explained. The accuracy of classified paddy fields was compared with the land cover map of Environmental Geographic Information System (EGIS) in 2001 classified using Landsat images. Uncertainty of paddy fields classification was analyzed about the elevation and slope from the 30m resolution Digital Elevation Model (DEM) provided in EGIS. As a result of paddy classification, user's accuracy was about 41.5% and producer's accuracy was 57.6%. About 59% extracted paddy fields represented over 50 uncertainty in one hundred scale and about 18% extracted paddy fields showed 100 uncertainty. It is considered that several land covers mixed in a MODIS pixel influenced on extracted results and most classified paddy fields were distributed through elevation I, II and slope A region.
Stellar spiral arms and magnetic fields in disk galaxies are important in the formation of gaseous structures such as spurs/feathers and wiggles as well as in angular momentum transport between stars and gas. We present our recent results of global magnetohydrodynamic simulations to study nonlinear responses of self-gravitating and magnetized gas to an imposed stellar spiral potential. We vary the arm strength, the arm pattern speed, and magnetic field strength to explore various galactic situations. Magnetic fields not only reduce the peak density of galactic spiral shocks but also make angular momentum transport more efficient via magnetic pressure and tension forces. The extent and shapes of gaseous arms as well as the radial mass drift rate depend rather sensitively on the magnetic field strength. The wiggle instability apparent in unmagnetized models is suppressed with increasing magnetic field strength, while magnetic fields promote the development of magneto-Jeans instability of the arms and magnetic islands in between arms. We quantify the angular momentum transport by spiral shocks, focusing on the effects of magnetic fields. We also present physical interpretations of our numerical results and discuss astronomical implications of our findings.
Atomistic molecular dynamics (MD) simulation has become mature enabling close approximation of the real behaviors of biomolecules. In biomolecular NMR field, atomistic MD simulation coupled with generalized implicit solvent model (GBIS) has contributed to improving the qualities of NMR structures in the refinement stage with experimental restraints. Here all-atom force fields play important roles in defining the optimal positions between atoms and angles, resulting in more precise and accurate structures. Despite successful applications in refining NMR structure, however, the research that has studied the influence of force fields in GBIS is limited. In this study, we compared the qualities of NMR structures of two model proteins, ubiquitin and GB1, under a series of AMBER force fields-ff99SB, ff99SB-ILDN, ff99SB-NMR, ff12SB, and ff13-with experimental restraints. The root mean square deviations of backbone atoms and packing scores that reflect the apparent structural qualities were almost indistinguishable except ff13. Qualitative comparison of parameters, however, indicates that ff99SB-ILDN is more recommendable, at least in the cases of ubiquitin and GB1.
The aim of this study was to analyze research trends in the fields of Korean Language and Literature, Korean Language Education, and Korean Language Education as a Foreign Language. To this end, key words were extracted from 29,470 academic theses published between 2000 and 2017. The results of the analysis are as follows. First, in the field of Korean Language and Literature, there is greater quantity in studies about Korean language than about literature, and starting from 2010, there was an increase in studies similar to those from the field of Korean Language Education as a Foreign Language. Next, in comparison to the other fields, the field of Korean Language Education has greater variance in its research theme-in particular, numerous studies related to the site of education. Finally, the field of Korean Language Education has the following trends: a) there are copious studies focused on Korean language learners in comparison to other fields, b) there are a greater number of studies focused on culture, and c) the key words change by time period which suggest that research demands transformed over time. Overall, a total of 64 highest frequency key words from the three academic fields were investigated. Of these, 22 were common key words and 42 were differential key words. In this way, it was possible to illuminate the identity of each field.
Natural convection of a magnetic fluid is different from that of Newtonian fluids because magnetic body force exists in an addition to gravity and buoyancy. In this paper, natural convection of a magnetic fluids (W-40) in annular pipes was studied by experimentally. Inside wall was kept at a constant temperature (25 $^{\circ}C$), and outside wall was also held at a constant but lower temperature (20 $^{\circ}C$). The magnetic fields of various magnitude were applied up. This study has resulted in the following fact that the natural convection of a magnetic fluids was controlled by the direction and intensity of the magnetic fields.

The experimental study is carried out to identify the combustion generated noise mechanism in free turbulent jet diffusion flames. Axial mean fluctuating velocities in cold and reacting flow fields were measured using hot-wire anemometer and LDv.The overall sound pressure level and their spectral distribution in far field with and without combustion were also measured in an anechoic chamber. The axial mean velocity is 10-25% faster and turbulent intensities are about 10 to 15% smaller near active reacting zone than those in nonreacting flow fields. And sound pressure level is about 10-20% higher in reacting flow fields. It is also shown that the spectra of the combustion noise has lower frequency characteristics over a broadband spectrum. These results indicate that the combustion noise characteristics in jet diffusion flames are dominated by energy containing large scale eddies and the combusting flow field itself. Scaling laws correlating the gas velocity and heat of combustion show that the acoustic power of the combustion noise is linearly proportional to the 3.8th power of the mean axial velocity rather than 8th power in nonreacting flow fields, and the SPL increases linearly with logarithmic 1/2th power of the heat of combustion.
