The effect of a scattering wall surfaces on sound diffusion can be assessed by determining the scattering and diffusion coefficients in the laboratory. However, the sound field in a concert hall including scattered reflections is different from the laboratory measurement condition. Therefore, there is a need for objective investigation of diffusion in real sound fields. In this paper, possible acoustical parameters of in-situ measurements are discussed.
The characteristics of a pulsed plasma jet originating from an electrothermal capillary discharge have been investigate using laser-induced fluorescence (LIF) measurement. Previous emission measurements of a 3.1 kJ plasma jet show trial upstream of the Mach disk the temperature and electron number density are about 14,000 K and and 10$\^$17/ cm$\^$-3/, while downstream of the Mach dick tole values are about 25,000 K and 10$\^$18/ cm$\^$-3/, respectively. However, these values are barred on line-of-sight integrated measurements that may be misleading. Hence, LIF is being used to provide both spatially and temporally resolved measurements. Our recent work has been directed at using planar laser-induced fluorescence (PLIF) imaging of atomic copper in the plasma jet flow field. Copper is a good candidate for PLIF studies because it is present throughout the plasma and has electronic transitions that provide an excellent pump-detect strategy. Our PLIF results to date show that emission measurements may give a misleading picture of the flow field, as there appeals to be a large amount of relatively low temperature copper outside the barrel shock. which may lead to errors in temperature inferred from emission spectroscopy. In this paper, the copper LIF image is presented and at the moment, relative density of atomic copper, which is distributed in the upstream of the pulsed plasma jet, is discussed qualitatively.
In recent years, vision-based monitoring has received great attention. However, structural identification using vision-based displacement measurements is far less established. Especially, simultaneous identification of structural systems and unknown excitation using vision-based displacement measurements is still a challenging task since the unknown excitations do not appear directly in the observation equations. Moreover, measurement accuracy deteriorates over a wider field of view by vision-based monitoring, so, only a portion of the structure is measured instead of targeting a whole structure when using monocular vision. In this paper, the identification of structural system and excitations using vision-based displacement measurements is investigated. It is based on substructure identification approach to treat of problem of limited field of view of vision-based monitoring. For the identification of a target substructure, substructure interaction forces are treated as unknown inputs. A smoothing extended Kalman filter with unknown inputs without direct feedthrough is proposed for the simultaneous identification of substructure and unknown inputs using vision-based displacement measurements. The smoothing makes the identification robust to measurement noises. The proposed algorithm is first validated by the identification of a three-span continuous beam bridge under an impact load. Then, it is investigated by the more difficult identification of a frame and unknown wind excitation. Both examples validate the good performances of the proposed method.

Coated conductor is an important candidate for power cable applications due to its high current density. Even for DC power cable transmission, we must study the transport properties of HTS tapes after slow and fast discharge. In order to evaluate relation of the magnetic field with applied current we developed a scanning magnetic field measurements system by employing a Hall probe. This work presents the measurements of the magnetic fields above a coated conductor by varying applied current pattern. In the work, a transport current of 100 A, less than the critical current, is applied to YBCO coated conductor. We measured the residual magnetic field distributions after cut off the transport current with slow and fast operations. The results show differences of the magnetic field profiles and the corresponding current profiles by an inverse solution from the magnetic field measurement between these two operations because of the hysteresis of coated conductor excited by the transport current.

During the growing season from June to August, 2000, the soil NO and $N_2$O fluxes were measured to elucidate characteristics of soil nitrogen emissions from different types of intensively managed agricultural soils at outskirts of Kunsan City, located in the western inland of Korea, Flux measurements were made using a closed chamber technique at two different agricultural fields; one was made from upland field, and the other from rice paddy field. The flux data from upland field were collected for both the green onion and soybean field. Concentrations of NO and $N_2$O inside a flux chamber ar 15 minute sampling interval were measured to determine their soil emissions. Either polyethylene syringes of teflon air bags were used for gas samples of $N_2$O and NO. The analysis of NO and $N_2$O was made using a chemiluminesence NO analyzer and GC-ECD, respectively no later than few hours after sample collection at laboratory. The gas fluxes were varied more than one standard deviation around their means. Relatively high soil gas emissions occurred in the aftermoon for both NO and $N_2$O. A sub-peak for $N_2$O emission was observed in the morning period, but not in the case of NO. NO emissions from rice paddy field were much less than those from upland site. It seems that water layer over the rice paddy field prevents gases from escaping from the soil surface covered with were during the irrigation and acts as a sink of these gases. The NO fluxes resulted from these field experiments were compared to those from grass soil and they were found to be much higher. Diurnal and daily variations of NO and $N_2$O emission were discussed and correlated with the effects of nitrogen fertilizer application on the increase of the level of soil nitrogen availability.
To quantitatively evaluate how setup errors in conjunction with dose gradients contribute to the error in IMRT dose quality assurance (DQA) measurements. The control group consisted of 5 DQA plans of which all individual field dose differences were less than ${\pm}5%$. On the contrary, the examination group was composed of 16 DQA plans where any individual field dose difference was larger than ${\pm}10%$ even though their total dose differences were less than ${\pm}5%$. The difference in 3D dose gradients between the two groups was estimated in a cube of $6{\times}6{\times}6\;mm^3$ centered at the verification point. Under the assumption that setup errors existed during the DQA measurements of the examination group, a three dimensional offset point inside the cube was sought out, where the individual field dose difference was minimized. The average dose gradients of the control group along the x, y, and z axes were 0.21, 0.20, and 0.15 $cGy{\cdot}mm^{-1}$, respectively, while those of the examination group were 0.64, 0.48, and 0.28 $cGy{\cdot}mm^{-1}$, respectively. All 16 plans of the examination group had their own 3D offset points in the cube. The individual field dose differences recalculated at the offset points were mostly diminished and thus the average values of total and individual field dose differences were reduced from 3.1% to 2.2% and 15.4% to 2.2%, respectively. The offset distribution turned out to be random in the 3D coordinate. This study provided the quantitative data that support the large individual field dose difference mainly stems from possible geometric errors (e.g., random setup errors) under the influence of steep dose gradients of IMRT field.
Generally, It is Introduced to well-known other models without considering tidal current of the field. The paper presents field measurements and numerical model solving velocity field of Cheonsu Bay by two-dimensional tidal model. It was proved that this scheme is easy to handle complex topography. Computed results is represented characteristics of tidal current for Cheonsu Bay. The results of the study can be summarized as follows ; 1. Tide form number has 0.21 value. Tidal range estimated 630.3 cm on spring, 454.1 cm on mean and 277.9 cm on neap, respectively 2. Tidal current has semi-diurnal form. Distance of traveling observed 16.6 km on flood and 15.5 km on ebb. 3. Tidal velocity showed reversing current. It was found that tidal velocity above 100 cm/sec is about 20 %. 4. Computed results are in good agreement with the observed data. Applying the algorithm to Cheonsu Bay, velocity fields and dry bank phenomena are simulated well in spite of complex topography. 5. An advanced study on the effects of open boundary conditions should be continuously performed.

There are many difficulties to get the scattered field generated by obstacle which has arbitrary shape or irregular surface impedance by using analytic solution or numerical methods. In this study, we propose a method of which makes acoustic scattering holography that can predict the far-field scattered field based on nearfield measurements. This method provides the scattered fields of each wave-number components of incident fields. We express the relationship of wave-number components between incident fields and scattered fields using scattering matrix which is transfer matrix of wave-number components. Lastly, we prove the relation between wave-number components of incident and scattered field by experiments. The errors which are caused by measurements and decomposition methods are also analyzed.
A novel probabilistic approach is presented for estimating the equivalent static wind loads that produce a static response of the structure, which is "equivalent" in a probabilistic sense, to the extreme dynamic responses due to the unsteady pressure random field induced by the wind. This approach has especially been developed for complex structures (such as stadium roofs) for which the unsteady pressure field is measured in a boundary layer wind tunnel with a turbulent incident flow. The proposed method deals with the non-Gaussian nature of the unsteady pressure random field and presents a model that yields a good representation of both the quasi-static part and the dynamical part of the structural responses. The proposed approach is experimentally validated with a relatively simple application and is then applied to a stadium roof structure for which experimental measurements of unsteady pressures have been performed in boundary layer wind tunnel.
