  • Hankyong National University decided to introduce a track-based curriculum for a curriculum innovation as it switched a Polytechnic University system into a general University system. A TF(task force) team was formed to study a operation strategy of a track curriculum and the opinions of campus members and educationist were gathered. Such systematic preparation was performed for the introduction of the track. Based on those works, a track-based curriculum has been operating from 2012 spring semester. A track system defines that the curriculum in a department is divided into specific majors(or tracks) and the department/agency guarantees their expertise if the students complete the course of a specific major to increase the depth and expertise in the field of study or specific areas. Track means a set of customized courses that are demanded by the corporations, and the courses include basically specific education activities, levels of education, and educational contents required for job or position of the corporation. In this paper, any issues, that arose through the operations of the track-based curriculum at Department of Electrical, Electronic and Control Engineering in Hankyong National University, and their possible solution were presented.

  • The dorsalis pedis artery (DPA) was renamed from the anterior tibialis artery after it passed under the extensor retinaculum, and DPA travels between the extensor hallucis longus and extensor digitorum longus muscle along the dorsum of the foot. After giving off the proximal and distal tarsal, arcuate and medial tarsal branches, DPA enters the proximal first intermetatarsal space via the first dorsal metatarsal artery (FDMA), which courses over the first dorsal interosseous muscle (FDIM). For detailed knowledge of the neurovascular anatomy of a dorsalis pedis artery flap (DPAF) as a routine reconstructive procedure after the resection of oral malignant tumors, the precise neurovascular anatomy of DPAF must be studied along the DPA courses as above. In this first review article in the Korean language, the anatomical basis of DPAF is summarized and discussed after a delicate investigation of more than 35 recent articles and atlas textbooks. Many advantages of DPAF, such as a consistent flap vascular anatomy, acceptable donor site morbidity, and the ability to perform simultaneous flap harvest using oral cancer ablation procedures, and additional important risks with the pitfalls of DPAF were emphasized. This article will be helpful, particularly for young doctors during the special curriculum periods for the Korean National Board of Specialists in the field of oral and maxillofacial surgery, plastic surgery, otolaryngology, orthopedic surgery, etc.

  • As the creative economy is considered important recently, learner-centered IP(Intellectual Property) education has proliferated rapidly to universities, and there are greater attention and demand on IP education. On the other hand, there are lack of curriculums and an accreditation for IP education. This paper is to propose IP education module and emphasize the need of the accreditation for IP education and its authentication plan. This paper will also show the need of specialists and educational curriculum in the field of IP, the current status and the analyse of the IP education, and the trend of IP courses in intellectual-property-leading universities. It subsequently examines the domestic education accreditation system and the National Competency Standard(NCS) curriculum and suggests the IP education 8 courses model as a curriculum management model, the standard curriculum of the IP educational system, and the instructional module.

  • Korea's e-government is the world best system and the open government data field is also ranking number 1 by UN evaluation. Therefore Korea's ICT level is ranking number 1 in the world especially in ICT (Information Communication Technology). However, in terms of national ICT capabilities, national ICT competency education is tend to perform by the simple list of courses rather than detail definition of the specific skills or training. In this paper, we define the national ICT capabilities through research and analysis of the national ICT competency model and define the relevant curriculum. This is very important to develop national ICT competency as well as ICT technologies because other countries will develop their information by learning from Korea's ICT and e-government as a model. Therefore, we firstly study about the national ICT competency model and will be drawn from the courses required for national ICT competency model.

  • Following the UN Conference on Environment and Development held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in 1992, a number of companies began to incorporate the concept of Environmental Sustainability into their business activities. Soon after this, interest in business sustainability within the academic world began to grow and a number of universities in Europe and North America decided to develop environmental management education-related materials and curricula under the support from their respective govemments and private companies. Starting in 1996, a wide-range of environmental management education programs also began to appear in several Korean universities. However, in contrast with the gradual evolution of environmental management education into a single study field internationally, environmental management education in Korea has not become fully specialized, nor has it developed in a systematic manner. In order to enhance and facilitate domestic environmental management education in Korea, universities must put more effort into differentiating environmental management education courses from regular environmental courses through the development of curricula related to business management. The business world has an immense impact on the environment and international environmental regulations are steadily becoming stronger. In this light, environmental education programs need to extend their sphere of study not only to the spread of knowledge and sensitivity towards the environment among members of the general public, but also train businessmen to have an understanding of how their actions impact the environment.

  • Incidence of Rhizoctonia blight ranged from 22.2% to 100% in the golf courses at six geographical locations in Korea from 1989 to 1993. Rhizoctonia blight occurred more severly in southern area than in northern area. Fifty seven isolates of Rhizoctonia solani obtained from diseased parts of zoysiagrasses were grouped to AG2-2 by anastomosis test. Pathogenicity testes revealed that this pathogen was strongly pathogenic to Korean lawngrasses(Zoysia japonica, Z. matrella, Z. tenuifolia), but not pathogenic to creeping bentgrass(Agrostis palustris), bermuldagrass(Cynodon dactylon), Kentucky bluegrass(Poa pratensis), perennial ryegrass(Lolium prenne), and creeping red fescue(Festuca rubra subsp. rubra L.). The isolation frequency of R. solani AG2-2 fro sheaths of the infected plants was the highest by 91.67%, and that from stolons and roots was 11.13% and 5.63% respectively. The pathogen was not isolated from the leaves. Population density of R. solani in the lawn of large circular patch was highest on surface soils down to 1 cm deep with the value of 4.9$\times$104 (CFU/g soil), but below 1 cm population density decreased sharply down to 0.8~9.8$\times$103 (CFU/g soil). Horizontal distribution of propagules in turfgrass soil was higher in the margin than in center of patch, where the number of propagules was similar to these of healthy looking soils close to the margin of diseased patch. The meteorological factors influencing the outbreak of the disease were temperature, the number of rainy days and precipitation. Optimum temperature for disease development of Rhizoctonia blight in field was 20~22$^{\circ}C$, and that for hyphal growth of R. solani AG2-2 in vitro was 25~3$0^{\circ}C$. In Pusan area, Rhizoctonia blight first occurred in late April and rapidly developed in late June. The disease slightly decreased during July to August and developed again in late September in 1993. The monthly disease progress in Pusan area was similar to that in Kyeonggi province.
