In this study, CFRP was manufactured with the laminate angle of $45^{\circ}$. The specimen of TDCB bonded with the adhesive for structure was designed by CATIA and the analysis was progressed by using the finite element analysis program of ANSYS. This study model was designed on the basis of British industry and ISO standard and the configuration factor(m) was established with variable according to the angle of model configuration. As the study result of this paper, the maximum deformations at the specimens with the tapered angles of $4^{\circ}$ and $8^{\circ}$ become most as 12.628 mm and least as 12.352mm respectively. Also, the maximum equivalent stresses at the specimens with the tapered angles of $6^{\circ}$ and $8^{\circ}$ become most as 9210.3 MPa and least as 4800.5 MPa respectively. The damage data of TDCB structure with the laminate angle which was manufactured with CFRP could be secured through this study result. As the damage data of TDCB structure bonded with CFRP obtained on the basis of this study result are utilized, the esthetic sense can be shown by being grafted onto the machine or structure at real life.

High temperature superconducting (HTS) generators for wind power systems are attractively researched with the advantages of high efficiency and smaller size compared with conventional generator. However, the HTS generators have high Lorentz force problem, which acts on HTS field coils due to their high current density and magnetic field. This paper deals with characteristic analysis of the modularized HTS field coil for a 750 kW superconducting wind power generator according to field coil structure. The modularized HTS field coil structure was designed based on the electromagnetic and mechanical analysis results obtained using a 3D finite element method. The electromagnetic force of the module coil was also analyzed. As a result, the perpendicular and maximum magnetic fields of the HTS coils were 2.5 T and 3.9 T, respectively. The maximum stress of the supports was less than the allowable stress of the glass-fiber reinforced plastic material, and displacement was within the acceptable range. The design specifications and the results of the HTS module coil structure can be effectively utilized to develop large-scale superconducting wind power generators.
In this paper, a composite stiffened panel was fabricated using a three-dimensional weaving method that can reduce the risk of delamination, and mechanical properties such as buckling load and natural frequency were investigated. The preform of the stringer and skin of the stiffened panel were fabricated in one piece using T800 grade carbon fiber and then, resin (EP2400) was injected into the preform. The compression test and natural frequency measurement were performed for the stiffened panel, and the results were compared with the finite element analyses. In order to compare the performance of 3D weaving structures, the stiffened panels with the same configuration were fabricated using UD and 2D plain weave (fabric) prepregs. Compared to the tested buckling load of the 3D woven panel, the buckling loads of the stiffened panels of UD prepreg and 2D plain weave exhibited +20% and -3% differences, respectively. From this study, it was confirmed that the buckling load of the stiffened panel manufactured by 3D weaving method was lower than that of the UD prepreg panel, but showed a slightly higher value than that of the 2D plain weave panel.

A study for the nonlinear analysis method of flexural behavior of concrete girders strengthened with unbonded prestressed CFRP plates is presented. The concrete girders strengthened with unbonded prestressed CFRP plates exhibit more complex nonlinear behavior due to the slip between the concrete girder and the CFRP plates than the case of bonded CFRP plates. The unbonded CFRP plate is modeled as an assemblage of the curved elements both ends of which are rigidly linked to the nodes of fibered frame elements. The slip effect of the unbonded CFRP plate is taken into account using the force equilibrium relationship at each node. To evaluate the validity and the capability of the proposed analysis method, the ultimate analysis results of the concrete beams strengthened with unbonded prestressed CFRP plate are compared with the experimental results obtained from other investigators. The proposed analysis method is found to predict ultimate behaviors of these beams fairly well. Additionally the time-dependent deformations of the concrete beam seems to have little influence on the ultimate behaviors of concrete beams strengthened with unbonded prestressed CFRP plate, and the cracks of the concrete beam which occurred before strengthening it with CFRP plate are found to have almost no influence on the ultimate capacity of the beam.

Due to the structural characteristic of a double roller, the double roller can have various deformation behaviors depending on a gap block design, even if dimensions and loading conditions for the double roller are the same. Based on this feature, we propose a strategy for designing the gap block of the carbon-fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) double roller to minimize defects (e.g., sagging and wrinkling), which can be raised during the product conveying process, with the pursue of the lightweight design. In the suggested strategy, analysis cases are first selected by considering main design parameters and engineering tolerances of the gap block, and then deformation behaviors of these selected cases are extracted using the finite element method (FEM). Here, to obtain the optimal gap block parameters that satisfy the purpose of this study, deformation deviations in the contact area are calculated and compared using the extracted deformation behaviors. Note that the contact area in this work is located between the product and the roller. As a result, through the design method of the gap block proposed in this work, it is possible to construct the CFRP double roller that can significantly decrease the defects without changing the overall sizes of the roller. A detailed method is suggested herein, and the results are evaluated in a numerical way.
This study proposes a hybrid composite where a thin copper film (Cu film) is embedded in carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP), and quantum annealing is applied to derive the combination of Cu film placement that maximizes the through-thickness thermal conductivity. The correlation between each ply of CFRP and the Cu film is analyzed through finite element analysis, and based on the results, a combination optimization problem is formulated. A formalization process is conducted to embed the defined problem into quantum annealing, resulting in the formulation of objective functions and constraints regarding the quantity of Cu films that can be inserted into each ply of CFRP. The formulated equations are programmed using Ocean SDK (Software Development Kit) and Leap to be embedded into D-Wave quantum annealer. Through the quantum annealing process, the optimal arrangement of Cu films that satisfies the maximum through-thickness thermal conductivity is determined. The resulting arrangements exhibit simpler patterns as the quantity of insertable Cu films decreases, while more intricate arrangements are observed as the quantity increases. The optimal combinations generated according to the quantity of Cu film placement illustrate the inherent thermal conductivity pathways in the thickness direction, indicating that the transverse placement freedom of the Cu film can significantly affect the results of through-thickness thermal conductivity.

In this study, when subjected to in-plane shear such as a shear wall, the behavior characteristics of a concrete member using CFRP rebars were investigated when the longitudinal reinforcement ratio was kept constant at 2.96% and the transverse reinforcement ratio was changed from 0.30 to 2.98%. The evaluation was conducted based on MCFT theory and analyzed by comparison with the case of concrete members using steel rebars. When the reinforcement ratio ranged from 0.30 to 1.19%, concrete members employing CFRP rebars exhibited higher shear strength compared to those using steel rebars. In contrast, at high reinforcement ratios of 1.79 and 2.98%, it was observed that the shear strength of the member with CFRP rebar was lower compared to the member with steel rebar. Maximum shear strain was observed to be higher for members reinforced with steel rebars at lower reinforcing bar ratios, while for ratios of 0.97% and above, CFRP rebars resulted in higher maximum shear strain. As the reinforcement ratio increases, the use of CFRP rebar instead of steel rebar results in a greater increase in maximum shear strain. By analyzing the difference in strain in the reinforcing bar as well as the difference in principal strain in the element caused by differences in the mechanical properties of the steel rebar and CFRP rebar, the shear strength and shear strain when using steel rebar and CFRP rebar with different reinforcement ratios can be compared and analyzed.
As well known, dowel bars are used to transfer traffic load acting on one edge to another edge of concrete slab in concrete pavement system. The dowel bars widely used in South Korea are round shape steel bar and they shows satisfactory performance under bending stress which is developed by repetitive traffic loading and environment loading. However, they are not invulnerable to erosion that may be caused by moisture from masonry joint or bottom of the pavement system. Especially, the erosion could rapidly progress with saline to prevent frost of snow in winter time. The problem under this circumstance is that the erosion not only drops strength of the steel dower bar but also comes with volume expansion of the steel dowel bar which can reduce load transferring efficiency of the steel dowel bar. To avoid this erosion problem in reasonable expenses, dowers bars with various materials are being developed. Fiber reinforced plastic(FRP) dower that is presented in this paper is suggested as an alternative of the steel dowel bar and it shows competitive resistance against erosion and tensile stress. The FRP dowel bar is developed in tube shape and is filled with high strength no shrinkage. Several slab thickness designs with the FRP dowel bars are performed by evaluating bearing stress between the dowel bar and concrete slab. To calculated the bearing stresses, theoretical formulation and finite element method(FEM) are utilized with material properties measured from laboratory tests. The results show that both FRP tube dowel bars with diameters of 32mm and 40mm satisfy bearing stress requirement for dowel bars. Also, with consideration that lean concrete is typical material to support concrete slab in South Korea, which means low load transfer efficiency and, therefore, low bearing stress, the FRP tube dowel bar can be used as a replacement of round shape steel bar.
It was revealed that the morphology and projection pattern of terminal arbors from single primary afferent are different among distinct fiber types, functional types and the different subdivision of trigeminal sensory nucleus complex(TSNC). But it was not identified the ultrastructural morphology and synaptic connections of terminal arbors from each primary afferent within TSNC. So we employed the intra-axonal horseradish peroxidase(HRP) injection technique to define the terminal arbors of primary afferent fiber from slowly adapting mechanoreceptors in the periodontal ligament of the cat, and examined 66 labeled terminal arbors within the rostrodorsomedial part(Vo.r) of the trigeminal nucleus oralis, electromicroscopically with 90nm serial sections. All the boutons labelled with HRP contained clear, spherical and uniform sized synaptic vesicles(diameter : $47.66{\pm}3.58nm$ ). Most of the labelled boutons were boutons en passant type and they were connected by unmyelinated axonal strand. In which neurofilament and microtubule was not developed but occasionally contained synaptic vesicle in contrast to the myelinated axon. The size of the labelled bouton was relatively small(long diameter : $1.46{\pm}0.24{\mu}m$, short diameter $0.85{\pm}0.26{\mu}m$, average diameter $1.15{\pm}0.24{\mu}m$) and the shape of which varied from dome to elongated shape, but scalloped glomerulus shape was not developed. Each primary ending in Vo.r made synapse with one or two neuronal propiles(average : $1.11{\pm}0.31$), of which, 89.4% of labelled boutons made synapse with only one neuronal pro pile, the remainder, 10.6% of labelled boutons, made synapse with two neuronal propile. So characteristically they made very simple synapse. Most of labelled boutons(80.03%) made asymmetrical synapse only with dendritic shaft or spine, and 6.1% of labelled boutons received symmetrical synapse from pleomorphic vesicle containing axonal ending(p-ending). So presynaptic inhibiton was relatively scarce. Synaptic triad, in which a p-ending is presynaptic both pre-and post-synaptic element of the axo-dendritic contact from the labelled primary ending was not observed.

The results of the present feasibility study are summarized as follows, 1. The three unit bridge of knitted material and UD fibre reinforcement has both the rigidity and the strength against a vertical occlusal load of 75N. 2. Stress concentration at the junctional area between the bridge and the abutments, i.e. between the pontic and the knitted caps was observed. In the case of the bridge with reinforcement straps, it was partly shown that the concentration problem could be improved by simply increasing the fillet size at the area. Further refining in the surface of the junctional area will be needed to ensure a further improvement in the stress distribution. This will require some trade off in the level of the stress and the available space. A parametric study will help to decide the appropriate size of the fillet. 3. Design refinement is a must to improve the stress distribution and realize the most favourable shape in terms of fabrication. The current straight bar with a constant cross section area can be redesigned to a tapered shape. The curve from the dental arch should also be placed on the pontic design. In accordance with design refinement, the resistance of the bridge frame to other load cases should be evaluated. 4. Although not included in the present feasibility study, it is estimated that bridges of the anterior teeth can be made strong enough with the knitted material without further reinforcement using unidirectional materials. In this regard, a feasibility study on design concepts and stress analysis for 3, 4, 5 unit bridge is suggested. 5. Two types of bridge were analysed in terms of fatigue. The safe life design concept, i.e. fatigue design concept, looks reasonable for the bridge where if cracks should form and propagate there is virtually nothing a dentist to do. The bridge must be designed so that no crack will be initiated during the life span. In the case of crowns, however, if constructed with composite resin with knitted materials, it might be possible to repair them, which in general is impossible for crowns of PFM or of metal. Therefore for composite resin crowns, a damage tolerance design concept can be applied and reasonably higher operational stresses can be allowed. In this case, of course, a periodic inspection program should be established in parallel. 6. Parts of future works in terms of structural viewpoint which need to be addressed are summarized as the following: 1) To develop processing technology to accommodate design concepts; 2) More realistic modelling of the bridge and analysis-geometry and loading condition. Thickness variation in the knitted material, taper in the pontic, design for anterior tooth bridge, the effect of combined loads, etc, will need to be included; 3) To develop appropriate design concepts and design goals for the fibre composite FPD aiming at taking the best advantage of knitted materials, including the damage tolerance design concept; 4) To develop testing method and perform test such as static ultimate load test, fatigue test, repair test, etc, as necessary.
