  • Cyber-Physical system(CPS) is characterized by collaborating computational elements controlling physical entities. In CPS, human desire to acquire useful information and control devices anytime and anywhere automatically has increased the necessity of a high reliable system. However, the physical world where CPS is deployed has management complexity and maintenance cost of 'CPS', so that it is impossible to make reliable systems. Thus, this paper presents an 'Autonomic Control System towards High-reliable Cyber-Physical Systems' that comprise 8-steps including 'fault analysis', 'fault event analysis', 'fault modeling', 'fault state interpretation', 'fault strategy decision', 'fault detection', 'diagnosis&reasoning' and 'maneuver execution'. Through these activities, we fascinate to design and implement 'Autonomic control system' than before. As a proof of the approach, we used a ISR(Intelligent Service Robot) for case study. The experimental results show that it achieves to detect a fault event for autonomic control of 'CPS'.

  • The Ulsan fault with NNW-SSE strike is a very wide and long lineament about 50km along Gyeungju-Ulsan line in the southeastern part of Korea. According to previous studies the Ulsan fault was not considered as a fault but only long lineament since no displacement was found along the lineament. Recently several Quaternary faults were reported in the northeastern part of lineament, which implies the neotectonic movement in this area. We analysed drainage pattern and stream gradient using the DEM (Digital Elevation Model) data for both side of Ulsan fault line to check the recent topographic changes which indicate neotectonic movement. The result shows that stream index in the eastern part of Ulsan fault is higher than the one in the western part. This means that recent tectonic movement is more active in the eastern part of Ulsan fault.

  • In this study, EMTP(Electromagnetic Transients Program) which is one of the most well-known computer simulation methods is used to collect the data for a power plant fault. EMTP is the program for an interpretation of the phenomena of electric transients, and is designed to manifest the data of the electric current and voltage etc. at the time of a power plant fault. By EMTP, I analyze the properties of the heat energy which are transferred from the electrics when a power plant fault brings out. In terms of the results of this study, it is able to measure the heat energy at a power plant fault (power transformer) and to be acquired of the related data. And moreover, these data are expected to be used as a standard for the protection of the fire owing to a high voltage power transformer fault.

  • This study documents the distribution of (active) faults around the southern part of the Yangsan Fault and the Moryang Fault and the middle part of the Dongrae Fault. For this objective, we extracted lineaments and fault-related landforms by analyzing aerial photos and digital elevation models and with the result of fieldwork on fault-relating features of the Quaternary landforms. Geomorphological techniques for active fault study are not only preliminary but also essential methods because, in general, an active fault can be defined only with fault-deformed Quaternary sediments when there is no way to detect precise timing of faulting. Therefore, geomorphological interpretation in active fault research is necessary to determine the extent, direction, termination and timing of fault. This study addresses the results of such geomorphological analysis and geomorphic markers for tracing the active faults in the study area. It is plan to investigate with geophysical and geological techniques the sites referred in this study.

  • Tertiary Pohang basin distributed in south western part of the Korean peninsula, is composed of Chunbuk formation as the basal conglomerate, Hakjon formation, Duho formation and intrusive basalt having 15 Ma by absolute age data. The basement of the basin is represented to Cretaceous sedimentary rocks, Hakjon welded tuff and Chilpo welded tuff and rhyolite. The fault systems in the basement of Tertiary Pohang basin are consist of $N20^{\circ}E$ fault, $N60^{\circ}W$ and E-W trend. NNE fault is not only strike-slip but also normal dip-slip. WNW fault has sinistral strike-slip sense and the geometry of E-W fault is strike-slip and normal faults. In the basin, the fault system is represented to $N20^{\circ}E$ strike-slip, E-W normal and NNE thrust faults. By these fault relationship and geometry, it is interpreted that NNE sinistral strike-slip fault and N-S normal faults have acted at the Cretaceous basement. After Miocene NNE dextral strike-slip fault has acted and created E-W normal fault. Progressively Tertiary basin was influenced by the transpression to make thrust and fold, namely inversion tectonics.

  • A number of sensing techniques have been implemented for detecting defects in civil infrastructures instead of onsite human inspections in structural health monitoring. However, the issue of faults in sensors has not received much attention. This issue may lead to incorrect interpretation of data and false alarms. To overcome these challenges, this article presents a deep learning-based method with a new architecture of Stateful Long Short Term Memory Neural Networks (S-LSTM NN) for detecting sensor fault without going into details of the fault features. As LSTMs are capable of learning data features automatically, and the proposed method works without an accurate mathematical model. The detection of four types of sensor faults are studied in this paper. Non-stationary acceleration responses of a three-span continuous bridge when under operational conditions are studied. A deep network model is applied to the measured bridge data with estimation to detect the sensor fault. Another set of sensor output data is used to supervise the network parameters and backpropagation algorithm to fine tune the parameters to establish a deep self-coding network model. The response residuals between the true value and the predicted value of the deep S-LSTM network was statistically analyzed to determine the fault threshold of sensor. Experimental study with a cable-stayed bridge further indicated that the proposed method is robust in the detection of the sensor fault.

  • By adding user interface to the usual router, an improved functional router is implemented in this paper. Due to the massive amount of spatial data processing, spatial information processing area has been rapidly grown up in recent years based on powerful computer hardware and software development. Spatial index structures are the core engine of geographic information system(GIS). Analyzing and processing of spatial information using GIS has a lot of applications and the number application will be increased in the future. However, study on the under ground is in its infancy due to invisible characteristic of this information. This paper proposes the sub-surface fault detection system using the sub-surface layer information gathered from elastic wave. Detection of sub-surface fault provides very important information to the safety of above and sub-surface man made structures. Development of sub-surface fault detection system will serve as a pre-processing system assisting the interpretation of the geologist.

  • The integrity of the gas insulated switchgear (GIS) is vital to the safety of an entire power grid. However, there are some limitations on the techniques of detecting and diagnosing partial discharge (PD) induced by insulation defects in GIS. This paper proposes a joint electro-chemical detection method to resolve the problems of incomplete PD data source and also investigates a new unique fault diagnosis method to enhance the reliability of data processing. By employing ultra-high frequency method for online monitoring and the chemical method for detecting SF6 decomposition offline, the acquired data can form a more complete interpretation of PD signals. By utilizing DS evidence theory, the diagnostic results with tests on the four typical defects show the validity of the new fault diagnosis system. With higher accuracy and lower computation cost, the present research provides a promising way to make a more accurate decision in practical application.

  • The stability of Power system installed Hi-Tc Superconducting Fault Current Limiter(SFCL) is analyzed as a process of developing SFCL. In interpretation, simple mimic system(only one motor) is assumed and then the circuit with SFCL in system is solved. In case the SFCL is installed in Power system, it protected synchronization more effectively both in symmetrical 3-phase fault and single phase line to ground fault.

  • The geomorphic deformation of the alluvial fans by tectonic movement was investigated along the lineaments of the northern part of the Bulguksa fault system. Based on the aerial photographs interpretation and field surveys Bulguksa fault system was identified as an active reverse fault which has displaced the Quaternary fan deposits. Bulguksa fault system strikes for the direction of NW-SE and N-S. These two lineaments of active fault are crossing at Jinty village in Kyungju city and the fault plane forms here almost vertical dip. Thelateral pressures from the two directions have possibly influenced on the formation of the vertical dip at Jinty village. It should be resulted from that the two pressures responsible for the active reverse fault at which the one with the NW-SE strike thrusts the hanging wall of Tohamsan block southwestward and the other pressure with the N-S jstrike thrusts it westwrd over the foot wall of the fan deposits. The marine oxygen isotope stage 8(0.30-0.25 Ma. BP) and stage 6(0.20-0.14 Ma. BP) are presumed to be the ages of high and middle surfaces of the alluvial fan, repectively. The vertical dispiacements on the high surface along the Bulguksa fault system are about 10.5m at Ha-dong, 9.5-10.5m at Jinhyun-dong, and about 10m at Jinty village. And the vertical displacement on the middle surface was measured about 6m high at Ha-dong. The average slip rate of vertical displacements is calculated about 0.03-0.043mm/y.
