Fault Diagnosis Method of Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor for Electrical Vehicle

  • The permanent magnet synchronous motor has high efficiency driving performance and high power density output characteristics compared with other motors. In addition, it has good regenerative operation characteristics during braking and deceleration driving condition. For this reason, permanent magnet synchronous motor is generally applied as a power train motor for electrical vehicle. In permanent magnet synchronous motor, the most probable causes of fault are demagnetization of rotor's permanent magnet and short of stator winding turn. Therefore, the demagnetization fault of permanent magnet and turn fault of stator winding should be detected quickly to reduce the risk of accident and to prevent the progress of breakdown of power train system. In this paper, the fault diagnosis method using high frequency low voltage injection was suggested to diagnose the demagnetization fault of rotor permanent magnet and the turn fault of stator winding. The proposed fault diagnosis method can be used to check the faults of permanent magnet synchronous motor during system check-up process at vehicle starting and idling stop mode. The feasibility and usefulness of the proposed method were verified by the finite element analysis.

  • This paper presents stochastic methodology based fault detection algorithm for induction motor systems. We measure current of healthy induction motors by means of hall sensor systems and then establish its probability distribution. We propose online probability density estimation which is effective in real-time implementation due to its simplicity and low computational burden. In addition, we accomplish theoretical analysis of the proposed estimation to demonstrate its convergence property by using statistical convergence and system stability theories. We apply our fault detection approach to three-phase induction motors and achieve real-time experiment for evaluating its reliability and practicability in industrial fields.

Improved Mechanical Fault Identification of an Induction Motor Using Teager-Kaiser Energy Operator

  • Induction motors are a workhorse for the industry. The condition monitoring and fault analysis are the main concern for the engineers. The bearing is one of the vital segment of the induction machine and the condition of the whole machine is decided based on the condition of the bearing. In the present paper, the vibration signal of the bearing has been used for the analysis. The first line of action is to perform a statistical analysis of the vibration signal which gives trends in signal. To get the location of a fault in the bearing the second action is to develop an index based on Wavelet Packet Transform node energy named as Bearing Damage Index (BDI). Further, Teager-Kaiser Energy Operator (TKEO) has been calculated from higher index value to get the envelope and finally Power Spectral Density (PSD) has been applied to identify the fault frequencies. A performance index has also been developed to compare the usefulness of the proposed method with other existing methods. The result shows that the strong amplitude of fault characteristics and its side bands help to decide the type of fault present in the recorded signal obtained from the bearing.

  • The resistive superconducting fault current limiters (SFCLs) are very attractive devices for the electric power network. But they have some serious problems when the YBCO thin films were used for the current limiting materials due to the in homogeneities caused by manufacturing process. When the YBCO films have some inhomogeneities, simultaneous quenches are difficult to achieve when the fault current limiting units are connected in series for increasing operating voltage ratings. Magnetic field application is one of the prospective way of inducing simultaneous quenches far the series-connected resistive FCL components. Magnetic field was typically generated by the fault current thorough a coil, which is connected to components of the fault current limiter in series, leaving the problem, which provides significant inductance to the power line and suppresses critical current density of the superconducting components. In this article we investigated the possible application of the protective current transformer (p-CT), which is available current source to the magnetic coil. This system inductively coupled to the circuit, therefore, remarkably reducing impedance to the circuit. The current by the protective current transformer was directly fed to the coil, generating magnetic field large enough to reduce critical current density of the components. This successfully induced simultaneous quenches of the series-connected resistive FCL components.

모량단층 주변 절리의 분포 특성과 프랙탈 해석 (Properties and Fractal Analysis of Joints around the Moryang Fault)

  • 모량단층 주변에 발달하고 있는 절리의 분포상태를 알아보기 위해 횡단법(橫斷法)과 재고법(在庫法)을 이용하여 절리의 배향, 간격, 밀도 등을 조사하였다. 횡단법에 의한 조사에 의하면 연구지역에서 가장 우세방향의 절리조는 NNE와 EW방향으로 나타나며, 이들 절리들의 간격분포는 단층의 중심부에서 음의 지수분포, 단층에서 먼 지점에서 대수-정규 분포를 보여준다. 재고법의 조사결과에 의하면 각 절리도(節理圖)상에서 우세한 절리조의 방향은 NW와 NE방향이며, 절리밀도는 단층의 중심부로 가까워질 수록 높게 나타난다. 또한 연구지역에서 발달하고 있는 절리망에 대해 박스카운팅법과 캔터의 먼지법을 이용하여 프랙탈 차원을 구하여 정량화시키고 단층주변에서의 분포양상을 살펴보았다. 박스카운팅법에 의해 구한 프랙탈 차원은 1.31~l.70의 범위를 보여주며, 단층의 중심부에 가까워질수록 높게 나타난다. 그리고 박스카운팅법에 의해 구한 프랙탈 차원과 절리밀도를 비교해보면 이들은 서로 비례 관계에 있으나 프랙탈 차원은 동일 밀도지역에서 절리의 분포상태에 따라 달라질 수 있다. 캔터의 먼지법에 의해 구한 프랙탈 차원은 설치하는 측선의 방향에 따라 다양하게 나타나며 이는 절리의 분포가 이방성을 나타냄을 보여준다.

확률분포추정기법을 이용한 와이어로프의 결함진단 (Wire Rope Fault Detection using Probability Density Estimation)

  • A large number of wire rope has been used in various inderstiries as Cranes and Elevators from expanding the scale of the industrial market. But now, the management of wire rope is used as manually operated by rope replacement from over time or after the accident.It is caused to major accidents as well as economic losses and personal injury. Therefore its time to need periodic fault diagnosis of wire rope or supply of real-time monitoring system. Currently, there are several methods has been reported for fault diagnosis method of the wire rope, to find out the feature point from extracting method is becoming more common compared to time wave and model-based system. This method has implemented a deterministic modeling like the observer and neural network through considering the state of the system as a deterministic signal. However, the out-put of real system has probability characteristics, and if it is used as a current method on this system, the performance will be decreased at the real time. And if the random noise is occurred from unstable measure/experiment environment in wire rope system, diagnostic criterion becomes unclear and accuracy of diagnosis becomes blurred. Thus, more sophisticated techniques are required rather than deterministic fault diagnosis algorithm. In this paper, we developed the fault diagnosis of the wire rope using probability density estimation techniques algorithm. At first, The steady-state wire rope fault signal detection is defined as the probability model through probability distribution estimate. Wire rope defects signal is detected by a hall sensor in real-time, it is estimated by proposed probability estimation algorithm. we judge whether wire rope has defection or not using the error value from comparing two probability distribution.

청송군 현서면 일대 도수로터널내 지하수 유입량과 수리지질 특성의 관련성 (Relation between Groundwater Inflow into the Waterway Tunnel and Hydrogeological Characteristics in Hyeonseo-myeon, Cheongsong-gun, Korea)

  • 영천댐 도수로 터널 중 청송군 현서면 지역의 터널 구간(연장 1,484m)에 대한 터널내 유입량과 수리지질학적 특성간의 관계를 연구하였다. 본 연구에서는 터널내로 유입되는 초기 유입량(라이닝 및 그라우팅 이전의 유입량)과 터널지역의 사암층, 절리빈도, 절리간극 및 간격, 단층, 수리전도도간의 관계를 분석하였다. 그리고 절리빈도와 수리전도도의 관계도 고찰하였다. 본 연구지역에서는 단층폭과 터널내 지하수 유입량의 관련성이 가장 크며, 사암의 두께, 수리전도도, 절리빈도순으로 관련성이 낮아지는 것으로 판단된다.

경주 남산 일대의 단열구조 특성과 양산단층의 분절 (Fracture Characteristics and Segmentation of Yangsan Fault around Mt. Namsan, Gyeongju City, Korea)

  • 경주시 남산 일대에서 양산단층의 활동에 수반된 단열 특성과 양산단층의 분절에 관한 연구가 수행되었다. 절리의 밀도와 프랙탈 차원 값은 양산단층에 가까워질수록 높은 값을 보이는데 이는 단층활동에 따른 단열작용이 단층의 중심에서 더 격렬하게 일어난 탓으로 해석할 수 있다. 양산단층 손상대와 모암 사이의 경계는 단층의 중심에서 약 2.7 km까지로 볼 수 있으며 여기서 더 멀어지면 절리밀도와 프랙탈 차원 값이 현저히 감소하고 절리의 배향도 여러 방향으로 크게 분산된다. 양산단층 손상대 내 소단층들은 우수향이동단층과 좌수향이동단층들로 뚜렷이 구분되는데, 전자는 양산단층이 우수향이동을 할 때 수반된 단층들이고 후자는 좌수향이동 운동 시에 수반된 것들로 간주된다. 연구지역에서 양산단층은 북쪽분절과 남쪽분절로 나누어 질 수 있는데 이는 북쪽분절과 남쪽분절 간 주향의 차이, 북쪽분절 끝부분에서 압축성 인편팬기하와 $9^{\circ}$, $S85^{\circ}E$로 선경사하는 향사의 발달, 남쪽분절 끝부분에서 $28^{\circ}$, $N4^{\circ}W$로 선경사하는 배사의 발달 등의 증거에 의해 뒷 밭침 할 수 있다.

Calculation of Distributed Magnetic Flux Density under the Stator-Turn Fault Condition

  • This paper proposed an analytical model for the distributed magnetic field analysis of interior permanent magnet-type blush-less direct current motors under the stator-turn fault condition using the winding function theory. Stator-turn faults cause significant changes in electric and magnetic characteristic. Therefore, many studies on stator-turn faults have been performed by simulation of the finite element method because of its non-linear characteristic. However, this is difficult to apply to on-line fault detection systems because the processing time of the finite element method is very long. Fault-tolerant control systems require diagnostic methods that have simple processing systems and can produce accurate information. Thus analytical modeling of a stator-turn fault has been performed using the winding function theory, and the distributed magnetic characteristics have been analyzed under the fault condition. The proposed analytical model was verified using the finite element method.

중력이상 수치해석을 통한 연천지역 군발지진 원인분석 (Analysis of the Causes of Clustered Scismicity Registered in Yeoncheon, the Middle Part of the Korean Peninsula through Gravity Field Interpretation and Modeling)

  • 경기도 연천 지역에서 집중적으로 발생한 군발지진의 원인을 파악하기 위해서 중력 자료를 분석하였다. 그 결과 연천 지역에는 북서-남동 방향의 안행상(En echelon) 구조가 발달하는 것으로 나타났다. 또한, 동두천 단층 동쪽 지역은 꽃다발구조(flower structure)를 수반한 수직 지구조 운동으로 인해서 고밀도의 기반암 물질들이 부분적으로 지표 가까이 상승한 것으로 해석되었다. 동두천 단층의 파쇄대 폭은 약 200 m, 깊이는 최소 5 km이며, 밀도는 인접 지층보다 평균 약 15% 낮은 것으로 평가된다. 지하 5 km 이내에서 발생한 천발지진은 지표 가까이 관입한 고밀도 암석에 발달된 저밀도의 안행상 단층 파쇄대를 따라 집중되어 발생한 것으로 분석되는데, 이는 동두천 단층의 우수향 운동 때문에 남북 방향으로 작용한 응력이 안행상 단층을 활성화한 결과로 해석된다.
