The mechanical properties of bellows, such as the extensibility and the strength can be changed depending on the shape. For the shipbuilding material, it is favorable that the fatigue lift is long due to the elastic property and the reduction of thermal stress in piping system. Nowadays, the domestic production and design of bellows are based on the E.J.M.A Code. Therefore, the design standard is in need because of much errors and lack of detailed analysis. In this study, it is attempted to find out the optimal shape of U-type ship's bellows that is applied to design of experiment using the finite element method. The effective factors, mountain height, length, thickness, and number of mountains and the length of joint are considered and the proper values are chosen for the simulation. The number of mountains are increased, the volume increases above the standard volume and the stress obviously increases. In addition, the effect of the thickness of bellows on the stress is very large. Both of the volume and stress are decreasing at a certain lower value region.

In military vehicles moving over poor roads, severe vibration of the chassis can damage internal components. Currently, many studies have focused on active and semi-active suspensions to reduce the vibration of the chassis. In this study, a vibration reduction technique is suggested by applying a unique rotating suspension structure. SH-ADD, a type of modified Skyhook, was selected as a controller for vibration reduction. A random ISO class E road was selected as the driving road. The simulation was performed using ADAMS Control and Matlab Simulink. The control result was compared with the RMS acceleration with a focus on the cumulative fatigue of the internal equipment.

In this study, the physics-based model and machine learning technique were used to conduct model-assisted probability of detection (MAPOD) experiments. The possibility of using in-service cracked parts was also investigated. Bolt hole shaped specimens with fatigue crack on the hole surface were inspected using eddy current inspection. Owing to MAPOD, the number of experimental factors decreased significantly. The uncertainty in the crack length measurement for in-service cracked parts was considered by the application of Monte Carlo simulation.
The camera motion is accompanied with the translation and/or the rotation of objects in frames of a video sequence. An unnecessary rotation of objects declines the quality of the moving pictures and in addition is a primary cause of the viewers' fatigue. In this paper, a novel method for correcting rotated frames in video sequences is presented, where the modified Mojette transform is applied to the motion-compensated area in each frame. The Mojette transform is one of discrete Radon transforms, and is modified for correcting the rotated frames as follows. First, the bin values in the Mojette transform are determined by using pixels on the projection line and the interpolation of pixels adjacent to the line. Second, the bin values are calculated only at some area determined by the motion estimation between current and reference frames. Finally, only one bin at each projection is computed for reducing the amount of the calculation in the Mojette transform. Through the simulation carried out on various test video sequences, it is shown that the proposed scheme has good performance for correcting the rotation of frames in moving pictures.
This study aims to evaluate the dynamic responses of the jacket-type offshore wind turbine using FAST software (Fatigue, Aerodynamics, Structures, and Turbulence). A systematic series of simulation cases of a 5 MW jacket-type offshore wind turbine, including wind-only, wave-only, wind & wave load cases are conducted. The dynamic responses of the wind turbine structure are obtained, including the structure displacement, rotor speed, thrust force, nacelle acceleration, bending moment at the tower bottom, and shear force on the jacket leg. The calculated time-domain results are transformed to frequency domain results using FFT and the environmental load with more impact on each dynamic response is identified. It is confirmed that the dynamic displacements of the wind turbine are dominant in the wave frequency under the incident wave alone condition, and the rotor thrust, nacelle acceleration, and bending moment at the bottom of the tower exhibit high responses in the natural frequency band of the wind turbine. In the wind only condition, all responses except the vertical displacement of the wind turbine are dominant at three times the rotor rotation frequency (considering the number of blades) generated by the wind. In a combined external force with wind and waves, it was observed that the horizontal displacement is dominant by the wind load. Additionally, the bending moment on the tower base is highly affected by the wind. The shear force of the jacket leg is basically influenced by the wave loads, but it can be affected by both the wind and wave loads especially under the turbulent wind and irregular wave conditions.

Residual drifts after an earthquake can incur huge repair costs and might need to replace the infrastructure because of its non-reparability. Proper functioning of bridges is also essential in the aftermath of an earthquake. In order to mitigate pounding and unseating damage of bridges subjected to earthquakes, a self-adaptive Ni-Ti shape memory alloy (SMA)-cable-based frictional sliding bearing (SMAFSB) is proposed considering self-adaptive centering, high energy dissipation, better fatigue, and corrosion resistance from SMA-cable component. The developed novel bearing is associated with the properties of modularity, replaceability, and earthquake isolation capacity, which could reduce the repair time and increase the resilience of highway bridges. To evaluate the super-elasticity of the SMA-cable, pseudo-static tests and numerical simulation on the SMA-cable specimens with a diameter of 7 mm are conducted and one dimensional (1D) constitutive hysteretic model of the SMAFSB is developed considering the effects of gap, self-centering, and high energy dissipation. Two types of the SMAFSB (i.e., movable and fixed SMAFSBs) are applied to a two-span continuous reinforced concrete (RC) bridge. The seismic vulnerabilities of the RC bridge, utilizing movable SMAFSB with the constant gap size of 60 mm and the fixed SMAFSBs with different gap sizes (e.g., 0, 30, and 60 mm), are assessed at component and system levels, respectively. It can be observed that the fixed SMAFSB with a gap of 30 mm gained the most retrofitting effect among the three cases.

Material non-linearity of Reinforced Concrete (RC) framed structures is studied by modelling concrete using the Concrete Damage Plasticity (CDP) theory. The stress-strain data of concrete in compression is modelled using the Hsu model. The structures are analyzed using a finite element approach by modelling them in ABAQUS / CAE. Single bay single storey RC frames, designed according to Indian Standard (IS):456:2000 and IS:13920:2016 are considered for assessing their maximum load carrying capacity and failure behavior under the influence of gravity loads and lateral loads. It is found that the CDP model is effective in predicting the failure behaviors of RC frame structures. Under the influence of the lateral load, the structure designed according to IS:13920 had a higher load carrying capacity when compared with the structure designed according to IS:456. Ultra High Performance Fiber Reinforced Concrete (UHPFRC) strip is used for strengthening the columns and beam column joints of the RC frame individually against lateral loads. 10mm and 20mm thick strips are adopted for the numerical simulation of RC column and beam-column joint. Results obtained from the study indicated that UHPFRC with two different thickness strips acts as a very good strengthening material in increasing the load carrying capacity of columns and beam-column joint by more than 5%. UHPFRC also improved the performance of the RC frames against lateral loads with an increase of more than 3.5% with the two different strips adopted. 20 mm thick strip is found to be an ideal size to enhance the load carrying capacity of the columns and beam-column joints. Among the strengthening locations adopted in the study, column strengthening is found to be more efficient when compared with the beam column joint strengthening.
The flow around a curved riser exposed to the current in various directions was investigated at a Reynolds number of 100 using a numerical simulation. The present study found that the flow features of the curved riser were distinct from those of a straight riser as a result of its large radius of curvature. Namely, there were various wake patterns according to the flow's incident angle. As the incident angle increased from $0^{\circ}$ to $90^{\circ}$, a two-row street of vortices that developed along the centerline of the curved riser became more apparent. However, when the incident angle approached $180^{\circ}$ from $90^{\circ}$, these vortices were completely suppressed by the interaction between the wake and an axial flow induced by the curvature of the riser. To identify this feature, the sectional force coefficients were also considered, and it was found that the force coefficients could be different from those found in a sectional analysis based on the strip theory when investigating vortex-induced vibration. As a result, this kind of study would be important to realistically estimate the riser VIV (vortex-induced vibration) and fatigue life, and a new force coefficient database that includes the three-dimensional effect should be established.

Cardiac arrest is a series of conditions occur when the heart is stopped, regardless of the cause. one of the only ways to save a patient's life in the event of cardiac arrest is cardiopulmonary resuscitation, which is very important beacause it can maintain circulation through this technique, and high-quality CPR affects the survival rate and neurological prognosis of the patient. For infant cardiopulmonary resuscitation, use two finger to compress the chest. Hower, this method can be diffcult to reach the chest commpressions recommended by the American Heart Association because of the anatomically increased fatigue of the fingers and diffculty of vertical pressure. The study aims to verify the effects of new chest compressions in the implementation of chest compressions during infant cardiopulmonary resuscitation. The study also showed singnificant differences in chest depth and average rate of pressure(p<0.001). Based on the results of this study, we can see that the accuracy of the new chest compressions during infant cardiopulmonary resuscitation is increased, and the depth of chest compressions is improved, improving the quality index of chest compressions.

As Korea enters an aging age, social efforts to improve the IADL of the elderly are increasing. In this study, to improve the performance of financial management activities that the elderly is particularly burdened, we aim to learn the elderly through ATM simulation education contents so that they can use ATM smoothly. To this end, interviews were conducted with seniors to derive four major financial activities (deposits, withdrawals, deposit inquiries and bank account arrangements), and developed tablet PC-based ATM education contents identical to the existing bank ATM interfaces. The experiment was conducted on 20 elderly people in the Elderly Day Care Center, and their satisfaction, fatigue and performance were measured before and after education. The results of this study can provide ATM design guidelines for the elderly who have difficulty using ATM.
