지각된 제품 특성과 과시적 소비 성향이 패션명품관여에 미치는 영향 (The Effects of the Perceived Product Characteristics and Conspicuous Consumption on the Fashion Luxury Involvement)

  • The Purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of the perceived luxury characteristic and consumer's conspicuous consumption on the fashion luxury involvement. The subjects were Korean 443 women from 20's to 50's living in Seoul. The reliability analysis, confirmatory factor analysis and structural equation analysis by AMOS 4.0 were used for statistics analysis. The results are as follows; 1) The perceived aesthetic taste and luxurious aspect of fashion luxury directly influence on fashion luxury involvement through hedonic consumption value. 2) The perceived luxurious aspect and traditional value of fashion luxury directly influence on negative luxury consumption value, but negative consumption value does not influence on fashion luxury involvement. 3) The well-known brand orientation, face-saving consumption, and value orientation directly influence on fashion luxury involvement.

패션명품에 대한 태도 연구 (A Study on the Attitude toward Fashion Luxury Products)

  • The purposes of this study are to find out the factors of consumers attitude toward Fashion luxury products; to identify the effects of demographics to influence on consumer's attitude toward fashion luxury products; to identify the effects of the attitude toward fashion luxury to influence on the concern for fashion luxury. The subjects were Korean 445 women from 20's to 50's living in Seoul. The mean, ANOVA, factor analysis, regression analysis, Duncan test were used for statistics analysis. The results are as follows; Seven factors of the attitude toward fashion luxury products were identified: the involvement for fashion luxury, the duality of fashion luxury, the negative response toward the consumption of fashion luxury, the luxurious aspect of fashion goods, the traditional value of fashion luxury, the rarity of fashion luxury. Among demographics, age and income influenced on fashion luxury products involvement, the quality of luxury products. The perception of good quality and hedonic consumption of luxury good influence highly on the involvement for the luxury products.

소비자의 글로벌 럭셔리 패션브랜드 속성 평가 및 소비가치가 구매 관여에 미치는 영향 (The effect of attribute evaluation and consumption value on the purchase involvement in the global luxury fashion brands)

  • The purpose of this study is to evaluate the attributes of consumers global luxury fashion brands and to find the impact of consumer value, meaning the social and pleasure values derived from brands on product purchase involvement. The method in this study was analysis of a total of 298 responses to a questionnaire. The results indicate, first of all, that among the attribute evaluations of global luxury brands, traditionality and splurge affect purchasing involvement. However, prestige and originality were found to have no influence on purchasing involvement. Second, the responses to the questionnaire indicate that social and pleasure values had a statistically significant effect on purchase of luxury brands. Third, the value of cross-group attributes evaluation and consumption value to differences in purchase involvement has had statistically significant results. In conclusion, the traditional and Splurge natures of the luxury global fashion industry's brand, social consumption value and pleasure consumption value affect the level of purchase involvement. This underscores the importance of attribute Evaluation(traditional and splurge) and consumption value(social and pleasure) when planning consumer marketing strategies for global luxury fashion brands in the future.

패션명품 소비자의 상표충성에 영향을 미치는 요인에 관한 연구 (Explanatory Variables of Customer's Brand Loyalty to Fashion Luxury Goods)

  • The purpose of this study was to define the mutual relationship between the explanatory variables of brand loyalty and consumer's fashion luxury brand loyalty, and ultimately to show a path model of fashion luxury brand loyalty. Especially this was focused on the relationship among social risk perception, symbolism involvement, marketer leading information search, and continuing brand loyalty. In the empirical study, a questionnaire was developed through the literature search and a survey was conducted both in on-line and off-line questionnaire simultaneously. Finally 291 data from males and females who had a buying experience of luxury brand goods were analyzed. The result showed the 4 significant paths of fashion luxury brand loyalty existed, such as social risk perception$\rightarrow$symbolism involvement, social risk perception$\rightarrow$marketer leading information search, symbolism involvement$\rightarrow$continuing brand loyalty, marketer leading information search$\rightarrow$continuing brand loyalty. And the explanatory factor which has the strongest influencing power to continuing brand loyalty was symbolism involvement. The powers of social risk perception and marketer leading information search to continuing brand loyalty were weaker than symbolism involvement. The findings of this study are expected to contribute to develop a theory on the consumer's loyalty to fashion luxury goods and marketing strategies for enhancing the brand loyalty.

Attitude and Purchase Intent for Luxury Fashion Goods : Cultural Differences between Americans and Chinese

  • Expanding upon Zhang and Kim's (2013) study involving Chinese consumers, this study investigated key factors that influence U.S. consumers' attitude towards purchasing luxury fashion goods and purchase intent and examined what similarities and differences exist between the two consumer groups in relation to the key factors. A total of 414 respondents completed the online survey questionnaire. Structural Equation Modeling was utilized to analyze data. Brand consciousness, materialism, fashion innovativeness, and fashion involvement were significant factors that affect U.S. consumers' attitude towards luxury fashion goods. Overall, the findings of the current study were greatly inconsistent with Zhang and Kim's Chinese study. The inconsistency provides vital implications to luxury fashion retailers by showing that one size does not fit all and one strategy does not fit all markets.

여자 대학생의 허영유형에 따른 패션명품에 대한 태도 - 울산, 부산 및 김해 지역을 중심으로 - (Vanity type and Attitude toward Fashion Luxury Products of Female College Students - Focused in Ulsan, Pusan, and Kimhae -)

  • Female college consumers are orientated toward vanity and fashion luxury products in consumer society. The purpose of this paper was to investigate the relationship of vanity type and attitude toward fashion luxury products. The data were collected from 517 female college students in Ulsan, Pusan, and Kimhai. For data analysis, descriptive statistics, factor analysis, cluster analysis, and MCA were used. Results of cluster analysis identified the vanity type of the female college students into non-vanity group, positive viewer, and vanity group. Above two third of the total sample were the vanity group and the positive viewer. The non-vanity group, was comprised the smallest proportion of female college students. Attitude toward fashion luxury products was classified into four factors; involvement for fashion luxury, superiority of the fashion luxury, hedonic and conspicious consumption, and negative response. The attitude toward fashion luxury products was significantly different across the 3 vanity type. The results of this study provide insights into female college consumers' increasing demands toward fashion luxury brands. Consumer education should be implemented for the vanity group, and personal financial management education program is needed in liberal arts curriculum.

A Study of Viewers' Responses to Luxury Haul Videos on YouTube

  • This study examined how viewers perceived luxury haul videos, what factors made them experience vicarious pleasure and gain relative deprivation when watching them. This study conducted an interview with 20 viewers of luxury haul videos. The content obtained from the interview was analyzed by classifying it into academic terms. Cases of vicarious pleasure arose when viewers had sufficient empathy when watching videos, which was intensified by YouTubers' behavior and visual stimulation in videos. A person's relative deprivation due to her financial capabilities or appearance occurred when she compared herself with YouTubers. The more viewers perceived luxury haul as a source of information, the more they felt relative deprivation; in addition, the more they perceived it as entertainment, the more they felt vicarious pleasure. Viewers who had a high level of involvement in luxury goods tended to feel vicarious pleasure; however, viewers with a high level of involvement in YouTubers tended to feel relative deprivation. This study helps luxury brands and YouTubers understand viewers' perception of their products and programs as well as helps in the development of fashion haul videos that are beneficial to viewers.

럭셔리 패션 브랜드의 디자인 특성에 따른 브랜드 태도와 구매의도에 관한 연구 (The Impact of Design Characteristics on Brand Attitude and Purchase Intention - Focus on Luxury Fashion Brands -)

  • Most luxury fashion brands have a strong brand identity and the product design characteristics of a brand are critical factors that influence brand identity. The design of products influence brand identity and play an important role in the choice by consumers in which brand to purchase. This study investigates the impact design characteristics of luxury brands on brand attitudes as well as purchase intentions in the examination of the differences in the impact influence by product category and consumer characteristics. The product design of brands was evaluated and measured by innovative and traditional characteristics. The product categories were divided into apparel, bags, shoes, and accessories. The consumer characteristics used in this study are fashion involvement, age, income, and the amount of money used for purchasing fashion products. Sample brands, Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Hermes, Burberry, and Gucci, were extracted from the Intel-brand's Luxury Brand Ranking 2008 and pilot tested for appropriateness. The data collected from 120 luxury consumers and 92 samples were statistically analyzed with SPSS 15.0, reliability test, factor analysis, ANOVA, frequency test, regression, and t-test. The findings are as follow. First, luxury brands were divided into two groups by innovative design characteristics and traditional design characteristics; innovative design characteristics show a significant influence on brand attitude and purchase intention. Second, only fashion related behavior factors among consumer characteristics became moderators when design characteristics influenced brand attitude and purchase intention. Third, the differences in purchase intention affected by design characteristics were found in bags, shoes, and accessories category. It is necessary for luxury brands to focus on innovative design characteristics and to specify the different needs of consumers through fashion related behavioral factors. This research will be useful to luxury brands in designing products and planning marketing strategies by offering specific information for luxury brand consumers.

중국 중서부 지역(운남성) 대학생들의 소비행동 연구(제1보): 물질주의성향에 따른 소비자태도와 의복구매행동분석 (A Study of College Students' Consumption Behavior from the Midwest(Yunnam) in China(Part I): The Effects of Materialism on the Consumers's Attitudes and Clothing Purchase Behaviors)

  • This study investigates the effect of demographics and materialism on the consumers's attitudes and clothing purchase behaviors. The subjects compose of 302 college students living in Yunnam, China. The mean, ANOVA, factor analysis, Duncan test were used for statistics analysis. According to our results, the factors of materialism, symbolic consumptions, and attitude toward fashion luxury products are identified: three factors of materialism (success symbols, practical living, and happiness pursuing), three factors of symbolic consumption (conspicuous, hedonic, communication), and five factors of attitudes toward fashion luxury products (quality, involvement, ostentation, luxurious aspect, pleasure). Among the demographics, gender, income, social stratification, father's education and job influenced the symbolic consumption, and desire's fashion luxury products. In addition, gender, income, social stratification, father's education and job influence the clothing selection standards and the extent of using fashion informations. Lastly, symbolic consumption, attitudes toward fashion luxury products, and apparel purchasing behaviors all proven to be significantly different among the 3 groups of materialism.

럭셔리 브랜드 커뮤니티에서 고객 인게이지먼트가 중국 소비자의 구매의도 및 브랜드 태도에 미치는 영향 (A study on the influence of customer engagement on Chinese consumers' purchase intention and brand attitude of the luxury brand community)

  • Luxury companies are striving to improve their communication with customers while paying attention to online promotion and marketing activities. As companies interact with customers in luxury brand communities via various channels, they yield consumers higher value throughout the effective consumption process. In addition, this connection enhances customers' understanding of the company, making it easier for companies to acquire empathy from customers. This study aims to analyze the value factors that affect luxury brand community members' purchase intention and brand attitude. This study utilizes online survey results of four hundred prestige brand community users in China. The results reveal the positive effects of customer engagement on customer psychological empowerment and flow, the positive impacts of customer psychological empowerment and flow on community identity and brand attachment, the positive effects of community identity on purchase intentions, and the positive effects of brand attachment on purchase intentions and brand attitude. Furthermore, the results show that community types and fashion involvement partially moderate customer engagement. This study provides theoretical suggestions for relationship marketing in the luxury brand community environment. Last, this study presents practical implications that companies could utilize to create an emotional connection with their community members, resulting in an increase of customer support.
