An active system for unnecessary noise reduction in kitchen range hoods

  • We have surrounded undesired living noises in our life. One of biggest noises coming out of range hood during cooking in the kitchen. A range hood is one of the most important appliances in the kitchen because it ventilates polluted air out during cooking, and maintains air quality in the kitchen. But current kitchen range hoods bring up some issues; First, the range hoods consume massive amount of standby power not in use condition. Second, current models have designed manual fan operating system with sudden onset of noise with starting. In this paper, we propose an auto control system entire processes from air ventilation to noise reduction. Our system is consist of three parts (Eco-sensors pack, Main Controller and Active Noise Controller); Eco-sensors pack detects air pollution of kitchen areas and sends the detection values to Main Controller. Main Controller determines operation of range hood by detected values. Active Noise Controller is located inside of the range hood. It received starting signals from Main Controller which elicits degrees of polluted air condition and fan operating speed from 1 to 3. Once Active Noise Controller detected the signals, it runs a ventilating fan until new value from Main Controller becomes 0. while the range hood works, A noise cancellation algorithm inside of Active Noise Controller become activated to reduce levels of noise. As a result, the proposed system clearly shows reduction in power consumption include standby power and decreases in levels of noise.

  • In this study CFD(Computational Fluid Dynamics) analysis of the steady fire-driven fuid flow for the performance test of ventilation at railway tunnel between Heuksok and Nodeul Station from Seoul Metro 9 is performed. There were fans with exhaust and intake modes and each was installed at the middle and both ends of the tunnel. For this test, the pool fire source of methyl alcohol with 1.5MW and smoke generators were installed between the middle of tunnel and Heuksok Station. In this test, the smoke behavior from natural convection was observed for 10 minutes from the ignition of pool fire and then fans with intake-modes at both sides of Heuksok effect of fan-on with intake mode located in the opposite side of the tunnel nearby Heuksok Station on fire-driven fluid flow is studied on when the boundary conditions of fan-on at the tunnel between Heuksok and Nodeul Station are the same as test. FLUENT, a commercial CFD code, is used for this analysis.

소규모 음압터널환기방식 무창자돈사의 최적 환기 요건에 관한 연구 (Necessary Conditions for Optimal Ventilation of Small Windowless Piglet House with Negative Tunnel Ventilating System)

  • This study was carried out to determine necessary conditions for optimal ventilation of small windowless piglet house (5.2 (W) ${\times}$ 12.3 (L) ${\times}$ 2.3 (H) m) with negative tunnel ventilating system using CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) simulation. The weaning piglet house for this experiment was consisted of 4 rooms (520 (W) ${\times}$ 300 (L) cm), 3 fences (70 (H) cm), 1 air inlet (350 (W) ${\times}$ 2 (H) cm) and 1 exhaust fan (50 (D) cm), and simulated using CFD code, FLUENT. The simulation results for the original weaning piglet house showed ununiform ventilation for each room. Therefore, to uniformly ventilate all rooms, the heights of the air inlet and first fence were modified to 3 cm and 100 cm, respectively. The simulation result f3r the modified weaning piglet house showed uniform ventilation for all rooms and the optimum air inlet velocity of 1.4 m/s.

통풍에 의한 휘발성 유기화합물의 실내 거동 특성에 대한 연구 (A Study on Behavior Characteristics of Volatile Organic Compound Caused by Ventilation in a Room)

  • Recently, volatile organic compound(VOC) has been noted as a main cause of air pollution. VOC, with its toxic and offensive odor, is hazardous to health. Furthermore indoor, underground and hish-rise buildings are preferable living spaces. People spend more than 80% of the day indoor, so indoor air pollution is a matter of importance. In Korea, from 2004, 10 types of indoor pollutants in public facilities have been identified. However, there is no standard for individual VOC, so the regulation has not yet effectively been carried out. In this study, we have studied on the diffusion of Benzene in a room using a numerical analysis for various air-controlled conditions consisted of door, window and ventilation system. This study investigates spatial concentration distribution and time-history of room-averaged benzene concentration for several cases. The results of this study show that when the room is ventilated by a small fan only for 30 minutes, the average concentration of benzene is decreased a very little, thus the impact to human body would be serious compared to the case of natural ventilation by window and door, In the case of natural ventilation by window and door, if the wind speed is higher than 0.5m/s, it takes small than 4 minutes for benzene to spread to the target concentration of $1.2mg/m^3$.

지하환기소 대단면 터널 시공 사례 연구 (A Case Study on the Construction of Large Cross Section Tunnel for Underground Ventilation System)

  • 본 사례연구에서는 신림~봉천터널 지하환기소 대단면 터널의 시공 사례를 소개하였다. 환기갱(폭 7.8 m, 높이 6.6 m)에서 환기소(축류팬실, 폭 20.8 m, 높이 12.3 m)로 터널 단면이 확대되는 구간에 대해 안전성 및 시공성 등을 고려하여 점진적인 확대 굴착 방안 및 Q 시스템을 이용한 확폭 구간의 임시 보강 방안이 검토되었다. 확폭이 완료된 이후 대단면 터널은 현장의 암반조건을 확인하고, 전산해석을 이용한 터널의 안정성 검토 등을 통해 암반등급에 따라 굴진장을 일부 조정하고, 터널 상부 굴착을 분할 없이 전단면 굴착으로 변경하여 시공성을 향상시켰다. 본 사례연구에서 소개한 시공 사례가 향후 유사한 조건의 지하환기소 또는 4차로 도로 등의 대단면 터널의 설계 및 시공에 유용한 참고 자료가 될 수 있기를 기대한다.

  • 양봉사란 겨울철에 꿀벌의 월동에 적합하도록 환기와 온도 및 습도환경조절이 가능한 건물을 지칭하는 것이다. 양봉사를 이용하여 월동할 경우 노동력의 절감, 식량 소모량의 감소 및 월동기간 중 폐사율의 감소 등의 효과가 있는 것으로 알려져 있다. 그러나 현재 국내 양봉가의 대부분은 실외월동을 하고 있는 실정이며, 일부 상온 실내월동을 실시하고 있으나 저온양봉사를 이용한 월동은 실시된 적이 없으며, 이에 관한 연구는 전혀 수행되지 않은 실정이다. (중략)

초장대 해저터널의 공사중 덕트 접속부의 누풍 성능 개선에 관한 연구 (A study on the air leakage performance improvement of duct coupling for temporary ventilation of long subsea tunnel)

  • 초장대 해저터널의 건설은 건설공간의 제약 및 건설비용 측면에서, 공사중에 사용되는 환기 시스템 설치에 유리한 조건을 갖고 있지 않다. 공사중 환기시스템을 제공하기 위해, 환기갱이 설치되는 인공섬들이 해저터널의 루트를 따라서 일부위치마다 건설됨으로써, 건설 비용이 많이 소요된다. 따라서 이러한 인공섬의 수를 최소화하는 것이 경제적으로 필요하다. 그러나 이것은 환기갱 사이의 거리가 더 길어지게 되므로, 필요한 환기풍량을 이송하기 위한 높은 팬 압력으로 인해 환기 덕트 접속부에서 누풍이 더 많이 발생하게 된다. 선행 연구에서 공기 누설이 중요한 문제임을 조명하였다. 본 연구는 개선된 덕트 접속 방식을 개발하기 위한 실험들을 소개하고, 또한 SIA 의 "S" 등급 누풍율 및 다양한 조건들을 비교하여 터널 연장에 따른 달성된 누풍율의 환기 성능을 제시한다. 본 연구의 결과로 누풍율이 $1.46mm^2/m^2$인 새로운 접속방식을 개발하였으며, 개선된 방식이 30 km규모의 장대터널에 적합한 것으로 분석되었다.
