  • In this paper, we consider some normality criteria concerning multiple values. Let $\mathcal{F}$ be a family of meromorphic functions defined in a domain D. Let k be a positive integer and ${\psi}(z){\not\equiv}0$, ${\infty}$ be a meromorphic function in D. If, for each $f{\in}\mathcal{F}$ and $z{\in}D$, (1) $f(z){\neq}0$, and all of whose poles are multiple; (2) all zeros of $f^{(k)}(z)-{\psi}(z)$ have multiplicities at least k + 3 in D; (3) all poles of ${\psi}(z)$ have multiplicities at most k in D, then $\mathcal{F}$ is normal in D.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine how the life styles of Korean people are influenced by the value systems of different generations. We analyzed the survey data of the 869 Korean participants aged from 20 to 69. The following results were obtained. First, differences exist among generations in various values such as collectivism, authoritarianism, environmental control, individualism , universalism, egalitarianism, and environmental accommodation. Especially, the older generation shows high scores in collectivism, authoritarianism and environmental accommodation, among traditional values. On the other hand, younger generation scored a higher level in individualism and egalitarianism. Second, there is a generation gap in the life style, as shown in family activities, household work, consumption activities, and leisure activities. In family activities, leisure activities and consumption activities, the younger generations gained higher scores than the older generations. Third, Korean people's value systems affect their life styles. Also, it was found that the interaction between the genera(ion and the value systems affects the life styles of Korean people.

  • In this paper we study the problem of normal families of meromorphic functions concerning shared values. Let F be a family of meromorphic functions in the plane domain $D{\subseteq}{\mathbb{C}}$ and n, k be two positive integers such that $n{\geq}k+1$, and let a, b be two finite complex constants such that $a{\neq}0$. Suppose that (1) $f+a(f^{(k)})^n$ and $g+a(g^{(k)})^n$ share b in D for every pair of functions f, $g{\in}F$; (2) All zeros of f have multiplicity at least k + 2 and all poles of f have multiplicity at least 2 for each $f{\in}F$ in D; (3) Zeros of $f^{(k)}(z)$ are not the b points of f(z) for each $f{\in}F$ in D. Then F is normal in D. And some examples are provided to show the result is sharp.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate some influencial factors for urban housewives’economic retirement preparation. Questionnaires were distributed to the 550 housewives in Seoul. The 453 data obtained were analyzed by Frequency, Percentage, Mean, Factor analysis, Reliability, and Stepwised Multiple Regression with SPSS win PC+. The major findings of this study were summarized as follows: First, there wre significant differences on the attitudes of assets management and the perception of assets property according to the expectation for being supported in their old age and the controlable values. Second, the most influential variables on the economic preparation for the old age of the urban housewives were through the attitudes of assets management, the perception on it and controlable values. Based on the above findings the urban housewives should have concerns on the economic preparation in advance.

  • This study investigated first, socio-economic, residential characteristics, and values for future life among low-income family wives. Second, the relationship of these characteristics to the wives' stress was examined. The subjects were 249 mothers of urban low-income families whose children attended one of 20 daycare centers located in poor residential areas. The instruments included Social Network Scale, Home Stress Scale, and Occupation Stress Scale. Data were analyzed by means, standard deviations, frequencies, paired t-tests, and the stepwise multiple regressions. We found that a majority of the mothers and their husbands had high school educational status and simple labor or sales/service work status. They lived in rental houses or apartments. Their families of origin were a major source of emotional supports. Insufficient income for non-employed wives, long work hours and lack of free time for employed wives were a major stress. Levels of the wives' home-related job-related stress were negatively related to their own and their hudsbands' work status.

  • The purpose of this research is to examine the evolution of low-cost sales housing and give suggestions for the future housing for the 21st century. This paper investigates the trends of low-cost suburban housing since world War II, as examplified by the Levitt housing in the Northeastern regions of the States. This research analyzes the trends of 14 variables including total floor area. lot size, living room size, kitchen size, mean bedroom size, master bedroom size, number of bedrooms, number of bathrooms, family room, garage, number of story, appliances and features, values, and values per sq ft. Nine entry-level houses were chosen as cases for comparative purpose at different points in time from 1940's to 1990's. This research finds that house sizes have been grown until 1960s, but this trend has reversed with shrinking economy and changing family lifestyles. The trend for smaller housing equipped with several features and convenient equipments will be continued for the next decades to come.

  • This study investigated relationships of adolescent ego-identity and adaptability to family and school life by socio-demographic variables. 761 questionnaires completed by 11th grade students in Cheju City comprised the data. Reliability of the questionnaire was examined by Cronbach a. The data were analyzed with the SAS program including descriptive statistics, t-test, and one-way ANOVA. Results showed that (1) adolescents living with their parents adapted better to family life than those who lived separately. Those who shared problems with others adapted to school life better than those who didn't. (2) The ego-identity of boys was higher than girls on seven variables. (3) Ego-identity was higher among those who shared their problems. Those living with parents were higher on "general ego-identity," "worth," "social adaptability", and "self-acceptance." Adolescents with higher ego-identity adapted better to family and school life. (4) Father's career was related to "general ego-identity," "values," "social acceptance," and "peculiartity." Higher family income was related to higher ego-identity. Mother's employment was related only to school life. (5) Father's education was related to adaptation both to family and school life.

  • This research aims to verify the generation transfer of proper manners from mothers to adolescent children and the relationship between adolescents' proper manners and strengths of family life. The data from 826 questionnaires (413 pairs of adolescents and mothers) were used for the final analysis. The findings of the study are summarized as follows: First, as for the extent of the implementation of manners of mothers and adolescent children both parties generally abided by good manners, but a significant difference emerged in the patterns. Second, both mothers and adolescent children were influenced by psychological determinants of self-esteem, values of humanism, emotional intimacy between mother and child, and social support for the implementation of good manners. On the other hand, adolescent children were affected the most by the emotional intimacy with mothers. Third, children generally showed significant differences in their implementation of manners according to the manners their mothers. Fourth, there were significant differences in the strengths of family life for adolescent children depending on their implementation of manners. Fifth, when comparing the relative contribution of the mothers' psychological determinants on strengths of family life and adolescent children's psychological determinants on the implementation of manners, strengths of family life gained more credibility as more variables were added.

  • It is known that there is an infinite family of general pretzel knots, each of which has Rasmussen s-invariant equal to the negative value of its signature invariant. For an instance, homologically ${\sigma}$-thin knots have this property. In contrast, we find an infinite family of 4-strand pretzel knots whose Rasmussen invariants are not equal to the negative values of signature invariants.

  • In this paper, a family of decentralized adaptive controller is proposed to control robot manipulators which are governed by highly nonlinear dynamic equations. The controller is computationally efficient since it does not require mathematical model or parameter values of the manipulators. The stability of the manipulators with the controller is proved by Lyapunov theory. The results of numerical simulations show that the system is stable, and has excellent trajectory tracking performance.
