Engineering systems are usually repairable. The reliability of a repairable system can be represented by failure intensity function. A type of shape of failure intensity function is called a failure pattern. Reliability-Centred Maintenance (RCM) presents six typical failure patterns but its definition is unclear. It is an open issue how to recognize the failure pattern of repairable systems. This paper first discusses the problems of RCM with the notion of failure pattern; then presents the method for failure pattern recognition; and finally proposes a flexible failure intensity function model. The appropriateness of the model is illustrated by a real-world example.

Software reliability in the software development process is an important issue. In infinite failure non-homogeneous Poisson process software reliability models, the failure occurrence rates per fault. can be presented constant, monotonic increasing or monotonic decreasing pattern. In this paper, the reliability software cost model considering decreasing intensity function was studied in the software product testing process. The decreasing intensity function that can be widely used in the field of reliability using power law process, log-linear processes and Musal-Okumoto process were studied and the parameter estimation method was used for maximum likelihood estimation. In this paper, from the software model analysis, we was compared by applying a software failure interval failure data considering the decreasing intensity function The decreasing intensity function model is also efficient in terms of reliability in the arena of the conservative model can be used as an alternating model can be established. From this paper, the software developers have to consider life distribution by preceding information of the software to classify failure modes which can be gifted to support.
There is a new trend of incorporating software coverage metrics into software reliability modelling. This paper proposes a coverage-based software reliability growth model. Firstly, the failure rate function in coverage is analytically derived. Then it is shown that the number of detected faults follows a Nonhomogeneous Poisson distribution of which intensity function is the failure rate function in coverage. Practical applicability of the proposed models is examined by illustrative numerical examples.

Estimation Problems of parameters of the failure process and the repair effect in repairable systems are considered. We propose estimation procedures in repairable systems without preventive maintenances. The failure process is modeled by a proportional age reduction model (Brown, Mahoney, Sivazlian [5]) which is able to consider both aging and repair effects. Maximum likelihood method is used to estimate the repair effect and parameters of intensity function simultaneously. simulations are performed to evaluate the accuracy of estimators. A numerical example is also presented.
This paper considers the parameter estimation problem of the failure intensity function and maintenance effect in a repairable system. We propose estimation procedures for repairable systems on which preventive maintenance is performed. The failure process is modeled by a proportional age reduction model [Brown, Mahoney and Sivazlian(1983)] which is useful to model the imperfect effect of preventive maintenance. When failure and maintenance (preventive) times are given, the maximum likelihood method is used to estimate the maintenance effect and the parameters of intensity function, simultaneously We obtain the maximum likelihood estimators using a genetic algorithm. A numerical example is also presented.

Software reliability in the software development process is an important issue. Software process improvement helps in finishing with reliable software product. Infinite failure NHPP software reliability models presented in the literature exhibit either constant, monotonic increasing or monotonic decreasing failure occurrence rates per fault. In this paper, proposes the reliability model with log and power intensity function (log linear, log power and exponential power), which made out efficiency application for software reliability. Algorithm to estimate the parameters used to maximum likelihood estimator and bisection method, model selection based on mean square error (MSE) and coefficient of determination($R^2$), for the sake of efficient model, was employed. Analysis of failure, using real data set for the sake of proposing log and power intensity function, was employed. This analysis of failure data compared with log and power intensity function. In order to insurance for the reliability of data, Laplace trend test was employed. In this study, the log type model is also efficient in terms of reliability because it (the coefficient of determination is 70% or more) in the field of the conventional model can be used as an alternative could be confirmed. From this paper, software developers have to consider the growth model by prior knowledge of the software to identify failure modes which can be able to help.
In this study, a stochastic analysis procedure based on numerical analysis was proposed to evaluate a kind of intensity-duration rainfall threshold for the initiation of slope failure due to rainfall infiltration. Fragility curves were generated as a function of rainfall intensity-duration from the results of probabilistic slope stability analysis by MCS considering the uncertainty of the soil shear strength, reflecting the results of infiltration analysis of rainfall over time. In the probabilistic analysis, slope stability analyses combined with the infiltration analysis of rainfall were performed to calculate the limit state function. Using the derived fragility curves, a chart showing the relationship between rainfall intensity and slope failure-time was developed. It is based on a probabilistic analysis considering the uncertainty of the soil properties. The proposed probabilistic failure distribution analysis could be beneficial for analyzing the time-dependent failure process of soil slopes due to rainfall infiltration, and for predicting when the slope failure should occur.
Finite failure NHPP models presented in the literature exhibit either constant, monotonic increasing or monotonic decreasing failure occurrence rates per fault (intensity function). In this paper, intensity function of Goel-Okumoto model was reviewed, proposes Kappa (2) and the Burr distribution, which maked out efficiency application for software reliability. Algorithm to estimate the parameters used to maximum likelihood estimator and bisection method. For model determination and selection, explored goodness of fit (the error sum of squares) The methodology developed in this paper is exemplified with a software reliability real data set introduced by NTDS (Naval Tactical Data System)
Railway vehicle equipment goes back again to the state just before when failure by the repair. In repairable system, we are interested in the failure interval. As such, a statistical model of the point process, NHPP power law is often used for the reliability analysis of a repairable system. In order to derive a quantitative reliability value of repairable system, we analyze the failure data of the air brake system of the train line 7. The quantitative value is the failure intensity function that was modified, converted into a cost-rate function. Finally we studied the optimal number and optimal interval in which the costs to a minimum consumption point as cost-rate function. The minimum cost point was 194,613 (won/day) during the total life cycle of the braking system, then the optimal interval were 2,251days and the number of optimal preventive maintenance were 7 times. Additionally, we were compared to the cost of a currently fixed interval(4Y) and the optimum interval then the optimal interval is 3,853(won/day) consuming smaller. In addition, judging from the total life, "fixed interval" is smaller than 1,157 days as "optimal interval".
Statistical distribution of annual maximum rainfall intensity of 18 cities in Korea was analyzed and applied to the reliability model which can calculate the probability of performance failure of storm sewer. After the analysis, it was found that distribution of annual maximum rainfall intensity of 18 cities in Korea is well matched with Gumbel distribution. Rational equation was used to estimate the load and Manning's equation was used to estimate the capacity in reliability function to calculate the probability of performance failure of storm sewer. Reliability analysis was performed by developed model applying to the real storm sewer. It was found that probability of performance failure is abruptly increased if the diameter is smaller than certain size. Therefore, cleaning the inside of storm sewer to maintain the original diameter can be one of the best ways to reduce the probability of performance failure. In the present study, probability of performance failure according to accumulation of debris in storm sewer was calculated. It was found that increasing the amount of debris seriously decrease the capacity of storm sewer and significantly increase the probability of performance failure.
