  • It has been applied several ways in order to prevent traffic accidents and speed management on the road which is one of very important factors to prevent accidents. In this study, it is analyzed whether the facility such as the flashing and crosswalk, speed cameras and intermittent warning signs affect on a driving deceleration or not. It has been shown that the flashing and crosswalk and speed cameras except intermittent warning signs play a role of reducing the driving speed. The result showed that these traffic safety facilities help to improve the average speed as well as velocity distribution which was derived by the speed deviation even if there were the difference between facilities. Speed limit display does not affect the deceleration of the driver. Therefore, it was founded in this research that there were the driving speed reduction effect due to the facilities on the road. In order to control the driving speed on the road, it is necessary to install facilities with appropriate location and spacing on the road. In addition, place that turns out suppressed speeding through speed management also are required adequate facilities such as speed cameras.

  • In recent years, the objective information for the environmental effect of architecture will be furnished to the designer and inhabitant in order to minimize an excessive energy consumption and environmental loads by buildings. In addition, an environmental friendly architectural certification program for a residence, office, and school facilities have been operated to spread and supply environmental friendly architecture. Most of the environmental friendly architectural certification programs proposed in the country are focused on the aspect of the physical environments of architecture in its certification ranges. In the case of a foreign country, however, the certification ranges of an environmental friendly architectural certification program for the school facilities among the programs will be extended not only to the standards for architectural design, environmental aspect, and maintaining and management basis by considering the characteristics of educational effects for students but also to the curriculum, policy of environment, and roles of local community facilities by reflecting a social aspect. Therefore, this study proposes a design and evaluation method by considering an ecological element that will satisfy the requirement for educational well-being that includes not only the requirement for school facilities according to the development of a new curriculum like a space for teaching and learning but also the improvement of the quality of educational environments and the objective of an ecological school.

  • For the last two decades, Seoul has always been affected by large floods. As climate change causes more frequent localized heavy rains exceeding the capacity of sewer or river to discharge water, flood damage is expected to increase. Under the situation, detention facilities for lacking capacity of sewers can control stormwater runoff to reduce flood damage in urbanized areas. In this study, in order to reduce flood damage in Cheonggyecheon areas, the capacity of detention facilities was decided to make up for the lacking capacity of main sewers in case of the rainfall in July, 2001 as large flood. The average amount of stormwater detained in eight Cheonggyecheon drainage areas is $235.09m^3/ha$. Location and size of stormwater detention facilities is designed to have effects in short term by targeting the reduction of flood damage. Schools and parks are suggested as optimal locations where detention facilities are constructed in drainage areas.

  • Heavy damages to properties with attendant losses were frequently caused by tornadoes in recent years. This natural hazard is one of the most destructive wind events that must be fully studied and well understood in order to keep the safety of structures and infrastructure facilities. On June 23, 2016, a severe tornado, which is an Enhanced Fujita (EF) 4 storm, occurred in the rim of a coastal city named as Yancheng in China. Numerous low-rise buildings as well as facilities (e.g., transmission towers) were destroyed or damaged. In this paper, damages to structures and infrastructure facilities by the severe tornado are reviewed. The collapses of residential buildings, industrial structures and other infrastructure facilities are described. With an overview of the damages, various possible mechanisms of the collapse are then discussed and utilized to reveal the initiation of the damage to various facilities. It is hoped that this paper can provide a concise but comprehensive reference for the researchers and engineers to help understand the tornado effects on structures and expose the vulnerabilities that need to be improved in current wind-resistant design practices.

  • The main purpose of this paper is to analyze the influence of selection attributes of convention center on participant's satisfaction. Specially, this study is focusing on the moderating effects of city image and city attractiveness. In the dimensions of convention center selection attributes, many factors affect participant satisfaction can be assumed that. They are categorized as seven factors; main facilities, subsidiary facilities, operations management, human services, board and lodging, accessibility, and peripheral conditions. The data was collected from 260 foreigners who visited the Shanghai convention center in China. 237 respondents were analyzed via intercept survey based on self-administered questionaries. The results of this study supported the proposed conceptual framework overall. The findings indicate that first, main facilities, subsidiary facilities, human services, accessibility, and peripheral conditions affected positively participant's satisfaction. Second, the high level city image and city attractiveness have moderating effect between some selection attributes of convention center and participant's satisfaction.

  • This study explores a model that examines how multidimensional risk factors explain mental health problems of young offenders. One hundred and ninety six students aged 13 to 15 in correctional facilities were assessed for mental health symptoms that examined the effects of multifaceted risk factors on mental health conditions. Consistent with the hypothesis of this study, secure unit students appear to have experienced various forms of risk factors and those factors have influenced mental health conditions. Results show that correctional facilities should reframe therapeutic and preventive approaches to disadvantaged students and develop integrated services and programs for rehabilitation and reintegration into society. It is recommended that those involved in treatment plans in correctional facilities consider that different treatment plans are necessary for each young offender.

  • This research explores the intension of repeatable guests through on the wedding facilities, employees' service ability, and banquet menu. First, wedding facilities include transportation, parking lots, subsidiary facilities, reception desks, Paebaek Rooms, and waiting rooms for brides. Secondly, according to the analysis for service quality of hotel wedding feasts, respondence and sympathy were not be fully considered while good effects showed through materiality, reliability and conviction. Thirdly, hotels will be expected to have re-visiting guests when the guests have good experience on the hotel facilities and satisfying menu. Alternatively, menu would have a negative result if there's not satisfying service. Employees should be aware of the list of menu and can be able to offer a suggestion. In other words, a banquet has to be prepared not only with fresh or seasoned ingredients but with good service to make the guests revisit. Therefore, we should be aware of what our guests want and how to prepare for their satisfaction.

  • In compliance with the Industrial Safely and Health Acts, the owners/users have performed self-inspection at regular intervals to secure safety in the use of hazardous machinery, equipment and facilities However, securing safety, which is the goal of self-inspection, has not been thoroughly understood in most small businesses and factories. The objective of this research is to analyze the importance and effects of self-inspection in preventing accidents in businesses and factories that use hazardous machinery and facilities. The result shows that self-inspection has made a good contribution to the prevention of accidents. Most businesses and factories that responded the survey answered they have improved safety in the use of machinery and facilities through self-inspection, though the ways of self-inspection were not all the same. However, the result also reveals that there are rooms for further improvement in the areas of self-inspection intervals, self-inspection methods and the selection of self-inspection objects. This improvement is necessary to improve the effect of self-inspection and to minimize regulations of the government on business activities.

  • In our modern society, such electric facilities as lighting, elevators, water supplies, drainages, waste water treatments and landscape lighting are being more enlarged, diversified and technology-intensive owing to outstanding technological development, while they require reliable and safe electricity. On the other hand, as more electric energy is consumed with more complicated systems operated, any accident from a personal electric system is likely to have wider spreading effects. In particular, the electric receivers and transformers installed for such public facilities as subway stations require highest safety, reliability and economy, but such requirements tend to be less considered than such financial requirements as budget conditions, much less their safety and reliability. In such a circumstance, this study was aimed at suggesting some standards for safe, reliable and economic subway electric systems in terms of their scale, location and uses. Specifically, this study put forwards the ways to optimize and standardize the electric systems including receivers and transformers for subway stations in order to make them safer, more reliable and economic.
