CaF2 single crystal has a large band gap (12 eV), and it is used for optical windows, prisms, and lenses due to its excellent transmittance in a wide wavelength range and low refractive index. Moreover, it is expected to be one of the materials for ultraviolet transmissive laser optical components. CaF2 belongs to the fluoride compounds and has a face-centered cubic (FCC) structure with three sub-lattices. The representative method for CaF2 single crystal growth is Czochralski, which method has the advantages of high production efficiency and the ability to make large crystals. In this study, X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray rocking curves (XRC) measurement, and chemical etching were performed to analyze the crystallinity and defect density of the CaF2 single crystals, grown by the Czochralski method. Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) and UV-VIS-NIR spectroscopy systems were used to investigate the optical properties of the CaF2 crystal. The provability of various applications, including UV application, was systematically investigated with various analysis results.
In this paper, a new $Co_{10}Fe_{10}Mn_{35}Ni_{35}Zn_{10}$ high entropy alloy (HEA) is identified as a strong candidate for the single face-centered cubic (FCC) structure screened using the upgraded TCFE2000 thermodynamic CALPHAD database. The $Co_{10}Fe_{10}Mn_{35}Ni_{35}Zn_{10}$ HEA is fabricated using the mechanical (MA) procedure and pressure-less sintering method. The $Co_{10}Fe_{10}Mn_{35}Ni_{35}Zn_{10}$ HEA, which consists of elements with a large difference in melting point and atomic size, is successfully fabricated using powder metallurgy techniques. The MA behavior, microstructure, and mechanical properties of the $Co_{10}Fe_{10}Mn_{35}Ni_{35}Zn_{10}$ HEA are systematically studied to understand the MA behavior and develop advanced techniques for fabricating HEA products. After MA, a single FCC phase is found. After sintering at $900^{\circ}C$, the microstructure has an FCC single phase with an average grain size of $18{\mu}m$. Finally, the $Co_{10}Fe_{10}Mn_{35}Ni_{35}Zn_{10}$ HEA has a compressive yield strength of 302 MPa.
This study investigates the microstructural properties of CoCrFeMnNi high entropy alloy (HEA) oxynitride thin film. The HEA oxynitride thin film is grown by the magnetron sputtering method using nitrogen and oxygen gases. The grown CoCrFeMnNi HEA film shows a microstructure with nanocrystalline regions of 5~20 nm in the amorphous region, which is confirmed by high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HR-TEM). From the TEM electron diffraction pattern analysis crystal structure is determined to be a face centered cubic (FCC) structure with a lattice constant of 0.491 nm, which is larger than that of CoCrFeMnNi HEA. The HEA oxynitride film shows a single phase in which constituting elements are distributed homogeneously as confirmed by element mapping using a Cs-corrected scanning TEM (STEM). Mechanical properties of the CoCrFeMnNi HEA oxynitride thin film are addressed by a nano indentation method, and a hardness of 8.13 GPa and a Young's modulus of 157.3 GPa are obtained. The observed high hardness value is thought to be the result of hardening due to the nanocrystalline microstructure.

Ternary Mo-Cu-N films were deposited on Si wafer substrates with various copper contents by magnetron sputtering method using Mo target and Cu target in $Ar/N_2$ gaseous atmosphere. As increasing $N_2$ pressure, the microstructure of Mo-N films changed from ${\gamma}-Mo_2N$ of (111) having face-centered-cubic (FCC) structure to $\delta$-MoN of (200) having hexagonal structure. Detailed the microstructures of the Mo-Cu-N coatings were studied by X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy and field emission transmission electron microscope. The results indicated that the incorporation of copper into the growing Mo-N coating led to the $Mo_2N$ and MoN crystallites were more well-distributed and refined and the copper existed in grain boundary. Ternary Mo-Cu-N films had a composite microstructure of the nanosized crystal crystalline ${\gamma}-Mo_2N$ and $\delta$-MoN surrounded by amorphous $Cu_3N$ phase.

The $\beta-In_2Te_3$ single crystal was grown by vertical Bridgman method. The $\beta-In_2Te_3$ single crystal had a face centered cubic(fcc) structure. The lattice constants were found to be $a\;=\;0.617\;{\AA}$. The direct optical energy gap ($E_g$) was found to be 1.11 ev at 300 K. Raman spectra peak of $\beta-In_2Te_3$ single crystal showed the low $E_{LO}$ mode at $105\;cm^{-1}$. The electrical conduction type was measured by the thermal method and was p-type. The electrical conductivity was found to be $1.8\;{\times}\;10^{-2}\;{\Omega}^{-1}cm^{-1}$ at 300 K. The activation energy was found to be 0.51 eV.

Austenite stainless steel(ASS), aluminum alloy and nickel steel alloy are the most widely used in many cryogenic applications due to superior mechanical properties at low temperature. The Face-Centered Cubic(FCC) and Hexagonal Close-Packed(HCP) materials are used for the primary and secondary insulation barrier of Liquefied Natural Gas(LNG) carrier tank and various kinds of LNG applications currently. In this study, tensile tests of ASS, aluminum alloy and nickel steel alloy were carried out for the acquisition of quantitative mechanical properties under the cryogenic environment. The range of thermal condition was room temperature to $-163^{\circ}C$ and strain rate range was 0.00016/s to 0.01/s considering the dependencies of temperatures and strain rates. The comprehensive test data were analyzed in terms of the characteristics of mechanical behavior for the development of constitutive equation and its application.
Silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) were successfully synthesized through a simple green route using the Nelumbo nucifera leaf, stem and flower extracts. These nanoparticles showed characteristic UV-Vis absorption peaks between 410-450 nm which arises due to the plasmon resonance of silver nanoparticles. The Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) confirmed the presence of amides and which acted as the stabilizing agent. X-ray diffraction spectrum of the nanoparticles confirmed the Face centered cubic (FCC) structure of the formed AgNPs. Dynamic light scattering technique was used to measure hydrodynamic diameter (68.6 nm to 88.1 nm) and zeta potential (-55.4 mV, -57.9 mV and 98.9 mV) of prepared AgNPs. The scanning electron micrographs of dislodged nanoparticles in aqueous solution showed the production of reasonably monodispersed silver nanoparticles (1-100 nm). The antimicrobial activity of prepared AgNPs was evaluated against fungi, Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria using disc diffusion method. Anti-corrosion studies were carried out using coupon method (mild steel and iron) and dye degradation studies were carried out by assessing photo-catalytic activity of Nelumbo nucifera extracts mediated AgNPs.

The emergence of ferrous-medium entropy alloys (FeMEAs) with excellent tensile properties represents a potential direction for designing alloys based on metastable engineering. In this study, an FeMEA is successfully fabricated using laser powder bed fusion (LPBF), a metal additive manufacturing technology. Tensile tests are conducted on the LPBF-processed FeMEA at room temperature and cryogenic temperatures (77 K). At 77 K, the LPBF-processed FeMEA exhibits high yield strength and excellent ultimate tensile strength through active deformation-induced martensitic transformation. Furthermore, due to the low stability of the face-centered cubic (FCC) phase of the LPBF-processed FeMEA based on nano-scale solute heterogeneity, stress-induced martensitic transformation occurs, accompanied by the appearance of a yield point phenomenon during cryogenic tensile deformation. This study elucidates the origin of the yield point phenomenon and deformation behavior of the FeMEA at 77 K.
We present a multi-step cold drawing for a non-equiatomic Co10Cr15Fe25Mn10Ni30V10 high entropy alloy (HEA) with a simple face-centered cubic (FCC) crystal structure. The distribution of strain in the cold-drawn Co10Cr15Fe25Mn10Ni30V10 HEA wires was analyzed by the finite element method (FEM). The effective strain was expected to be higher as it was closer to the surface of the wire. However, the reverse shear strain acted to cause a transition in the shear strain behavior. The critical effective strain at which the shear strain transition behavior is completely shifted was predicted to be 4.75. Severely cold-drawn Co10Cr15Fe25Mn10Ni30V10 HEA wires up to 96% of the maximum cross-sectional reduction ratio were successfully manufactured without breakage. With the assistance of electron back-scattering diffraction and transmission electron microscope analyses, the abundant deformation twins were found in the region of high effective strain, which is a major strengthening mechanism for the cold-drawn Co10Cr15Fe25Mn10Ni30V10 HEA wire.
Ti-6Al-4V-N films have been grown onto glass substrates by dc reactive magnetron sputtering from a Ti-6Al-4V-N alloy target at different nitrogen partial pressure, input powers and sputtering times. The influence of various sputtering conditions on structural properties of Ti-6Al-4V-N films was investigated by measuring their X-ray diffraction. The quaternary Ti-6Al-4V-N film is crystallizing in a face centered cubic TiN structure, the lattice parameter is smaller than the TiN parameter as titanium atoms of the TiN lattice are replaced by aluminum and vanadium atoms. The films show the (111) preferred orientation and the (111) peak intensity decreases as the nitrogen partial pressure is increased, but the intensity increases as the sputtering time is increased. The deposition rate and the grain size are alto related with the variation of various sputtering conditions.
