  • In this paper, we propose a new method of eye, face, and lip makeup techniques on the target face image from several makeup examples without losing detail features such as eyelids, eyebrows, hair. After detection of the feature layer for the skin, we applied our makeup techniques to the target face by using a blending technique. We used a cartoon rendering using bilateral filter. In order to smoothly makeup the target face, we created two Gaussian Weight maps for natural skin makeup effects. Our method did not need to perform complex operations, so the makeup results are so natural. Our experimental results show good performances in various makeups.

  • In this paper, a new face tracking algorithm is proposed. The CamShift (Continuously adaptive mean SHIFT) algorithm shows unstable tracking when there exist objects with similar color to that of face in the background. This drawback of the CamShift is resolved by the proposed algorithm using Kinect's pixel-by-pixel depth information and the skin detection method to extract candidate skin regions in HSV color space. Additionally, even when the target face is disappeared, or occluded, the proposed algorithm makes it robust to this occlusion by the feature point matching. Through experimental results, it is shown that the proposed algorithm is superior in tracking performance to that of existing TLD (Tracking-Learning-Detection) algorithm, and offers faster processing speed. Also, it overcomes all the existing shortfalls of CamShift with almost comparable processing time.

  • Objectives : Washing face is the first step in skin beauty and health. I wanted to study the cleansing effect by using Placenta cp (cold process) soap. The skin condition is greatly influenced by the external environment such as lifestyle, drinking, smoking, and stress etc. I tried to measure the skin change state without environmental factors. Methods : In order to examine the effect before and after washing face under the same conditions, the same water and towel were used in the same place. The skin test was performed before and 10 minutes after washing. As a control group, a case of washing with water and foam cleanser. I compared and analyzed three cases: water washing, F/C (foam cleanser) washing, and Placenta cp soap washing. Results : In the case of water washing, it was significantly reduced in pores and increased in facial temperature. In the case of F/C washing, the facial temperature was significantly increased, but the decrease in moisture. In the case of washing with Placenta cp soap, significant reductions in T-zone and U-zone oil content, reduction in pore size, and increase in facial skin temperature were observed. Conclusion : In the case of Placenta cp soap, it is thought to be suitable for oily skin type, because of significant decrease in T-zone and U-zone oil content. It is thought to have the effect of increasing blood circulation in the facial skin and to reduce pores for oily skin types.

  • This paper presents an automatic approach to detect face and facial feature from face images based on the color information and deformable model. Skin color information has been widely used for face and facial feature diction since it is effective for object recognition and has less computational burden, In this paper, we propose how to compensates varying light condition and utilize the transformed YCbCr color model to detect candidates region of face and facial feature from color images, Moreover, the detected face facial feature areas are subsequently assigned to a initial condition of active contour model to extract optimal boundaries of face and facial feature by resolving initial boundary problem when the active contour is used, The experimental results show the efficiency of the proposed method, The face and facial feature information will be used for face recognition and facial feature descriptor.

  • The face extraction is very important to provide the images of the roads and road sides without the problem of privacy. For face extraction form roadside images, we detected the skin color area by using HSI and YCrCb color models. Efficient skin color detection was achieved by using these two models. We used a connectivity and intensity difference for grouping, skin color regions further we applied shape conditions (rate, area, number and oval condition) and determined face candidate regions. We applied thresholds to region, and determined the region as the face if black part was over 5% of the whole regions. As the result of the experiment 28 faces has been extracted among 38 faces had problem of privacy. The reasons which the face was not extracted were the effect of shadow of the face, and the background objects. Also objects with the color similar to the face were falsely extracted. For improvement, we need to adjust the threshold.

  • This paper addresses a method to automatically detect out a person's face from a given image that consists of a hair and face view of the person and a complex background scene. Out method involves an effective detection algorithm that exploits the spatial distribution characteristics of human skin color via an adaptive fuzzy color classifier (AFCC), The universal skin-color map is derived on the chrominance component of human skin color in Cb, Cr and their corresponding luminance. The desired fuzzy system is applied to decide the skin color regions and those that are not. We use RGB model for extracting the hair color regions because the hair regions often show low brightness and chromaticity estimation of low brightness color is not stable. After some preprocessing, we apply convex-hull to each region. Consequent face detection is made from the relationship between a face's convex-hull and a head's convex-hull. The algorithm using the convex-hull shows better performance than the algorithm using pattern method. The performance of the proposed algorithm is shown by experiment. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm successfully and efficiently detects the faces without constrained input conditions in color images.

  • In the case of the drilled shaft, one of the methods for calculating unit skin friction stress of rock socket parts is to measure the roughness of the excavated face. This method is to estimate the unit skin frictional resistance using a device which measures the roughness shape of the excavated face in the excavation step. In this study, the roughness shapes of the face of the rock socket part in the drilled shaft were measured directly in the perforated hole and the results are used to identify the characteristics of the unit skin friction of the bedrock. In addition, the static load test and the load transfer test were performed on the same pile to verify the result of the roughness test.

  • Although surgery is the mainstay of local treatment for skin cancer, definitive radiation therapy (RT) has been also applied for patients who are unable to tolerate surgery. Definitive RT regimens usually consist of daily treatment for 4-7 weeks. Such protracted daily RT regimens, however, would not be feasible for non-compliant patients or patients who are unable to make multiple daily trips for weeks. Without treatment, however, skin cancers can continuously progress and cause distressing symptoms. A cyclical hypofractionated RT (QUAD Shot: 14 Gy in 4 fractions, twice-daily treatments with 6 hours interval on 2 consecutive days) can be a practical RT regimen for those patients. In this report, we present the successful treatment course of repeated QUAD Shots in a 79-year-old patient with neglected skin cancer that was disfiguring his face yet declined definitive surgery and protracted RT. We also evaluated and compared biologically equivalent doses between QUAD Shots and conventionally fractionated protracted RT regimens.

  • In this paper, we propose a robust face tracking algorithm. It is based on Condensation algorithm [7] and uses skin color and facial shape as the observation measure. It is hard to integrate color weight and shape weight. So we propose the method that has two separate trackers which uses skin color and facial shape as the observation measure respectively. One tracker tracks skin colored region and the other tracks facial shape. We used importance sampling technique to limit sampling region of two trackers. For skin-colored region tracker, we propose an adaptive color model to avoid the effect of illumination change. The proposed face tracker performs robustly in clutter background and in the illumination changes.

  • Skin colors of females between the ages of 25-35 from Korea, China, and Vietnam were measured in Seoul, Beijing, and Hanoi using the Minolta CM-600d spectrophotometer. CIE Lab and Munsell HVC data of the face (forehead and both cheeks) and body (neck and arm) were analyzed using t-test, Analysis of Variance (ANOVA), Duncan's Multiple Range Test, Linear Regression Analysis, and K-Means Cluster Analysis using SPSS software. Korean females showed the highest L and V values for the face and body; Vietnamese females showed the highest b value in the face and the highest a value in the body. Higher L and b values for the face were related to higher L and b values of the body; this relationship was more prominent in Korean females. The younger age group (25-29) showed higher L values and lower b values than the older age group (30-35). Females from Korea, China, and Vietnam were grouped into Type 1 and Type 2 based on skin color. Type 1 had darker skin with more redness and yellowness and Type 2 had lighter skin with less redness and yellowness. A total of 88.2% of Korean females belonged to Type 2, 80.4% of Vietnamese females were Type 1, and Chinese females indicated an even distribution of Type 1 and Type 2.
