  • Dimethylaminopropyl methacryamide was photografted onto PET fabrics by continuous UV irradiation under ambient conditions. Several factors affecting the photografting were studied including irradiation energy, monomer and photoinitiator concentrations. ATR and ESCA analysis showed the successful grafting of the monomer onto the PET surface. The grafted PET fabrics showed higher zeta potentials below pH 7 compared with the ungrafted PET. The dyeability of the grafted PET fabrics to two $\alpha$-bromoacrylamide reactive dyes was investigated under various dyeing conditions including dye concentration, pH, dyeing temperature and time. The grafting imparted the reactive dyeability to PET fabrics, which was proportional to the grafted monomer content. The reactive dyeing behavior of the grafted PET fabrics was similar to that of conventional wool fabrics.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the preference and the use of the bedclothes. The data were obtained from market research of 12 department stores which were located in Seoul, Daegu and Busan, and from questionnaires completed by 356 women in Daegu area whose age was 20 years and older. The SPSS package was used for data analysis which includes frequency, percentage, $X^2$test, ANOVA, and Scheffe test. Cotton was the most popular fiber for coverings and fillings. Color preference was in the order of pastel, non-chromatic, vivid, and white color and pattern preference was in order of floral, check, and stripe pattern. Practicality, color and fabric were the most important factors and price was the most unsatisfied factor when bedclothes were purchased. Also, information for bedclothes was obtained mainly through internet shopping, home shopping or catalog shopping.

  • This survey paper aims to compare two significant figures in the history of Haute Couture e.g, Paul Poiret and Coco Chanel, who played a leading role between 1910 and 1930. It is found here that they have common features with respect to giving freedom to body through costume, enlarging Garconne Mode, creating more value of Costume Jewelry, exploiting advertisement strategy using models, proving exotic styles, and last but not the least contributing to Haute Couture. The research shows, however, that Poiret differs from Chanel in that he made most of various natural colors whereas Chanel used black or beige colors that had been rarely used woman wear previously. They also differed in using fabric, permitting copy by others, ingredients and bottling of perfume, meaning of silhouette. This kind of comparative research is expected to provide more understanding of fashion history and to contribute to more rigorous analysis of key success factors of designers in his or her age of fashion.

  • The regulations for costume were set to improve people's moral fiber and cultural standards. In the 17th and 18th century, the main aim of this regulation was to prohibit luxury. But being the turning point to a modem state, with breaking social status and development of commerce, industry, and the mind of imitation, regulation for luxury wasn't enforced, but rather it brought many revolutionary changes in costume. Restraining human impulse to express beauty was no longer subject to regulation. Therefore, people started to recognize the human figure with shorter Jegory(저고리) and strengthened ceremonial capacity by broadening po's(포) sleeves. The silk fabrics were the most popular fabric during this era, special patterns were added for decoration and also for blessings. Complementary colors were used for contrast on the collar (깃), cuffs (끝동), Gyotrnagi (곁마기), and sash (고름). This color composition gave a younger and more active look. And with red stripes on the sleeves, it emphasized the beauty of the color arrangements as well as providing protection from the devil.

  • Silk fabrics were dyed with yellow natural materials. Gardenia, turmeric, amur cork tree, safflower, Japanese pagoda tree, and onion were used as natural materials. Color image of natural dyed silk fabrics was classified by 4 factors(Cheerfulness, Comfortness, Pastrol, Revealation). Cheerfulness factor affected significantly with color image. Amur cork tree or turmeric dyed fabrics were shown as light and cute, safflower or gardenia dyed fabric shown as comfort, and onion dyed fabrics shown as mature and simple. Color image with specialty was significant difference in Preference and Revelation factor. Preference was appeared as amur cork tree>turmeric>gardenia>safflower>Japanese pagoda tree>onion.

  • Moisture transfer property of fabrics has known as one of the most important factors deciding wearer's subjective comfort not only thermally but also of sensorial. As a decisive property of fabric materials in determining human sensorial comfort, moisture vapor management property of heat resistant workwear material was examined in terms of increasing and decreasing rate and maximum value of relative humidity in the microclimate under the sweat pulse situation. An unique moisture regulation index, B$_{d}$, was calculated from the measurements using a novel dynamic sweating hot plate apparatus and was used to assess the buffering capacity of fabrics against a moisture vapor sweat pulse.e.

  • The purpose of this study was to analyzed factors that influenced the degree of satisfaction difference of domestic and imported theatre costumes. One hundred and fifty theatrical artists were surveyed by questionnaires, and response from 128 was statistically analyzed. The data was analyzed using frequency, and paired t-test with SPSSWIN 10.0. The results were as follows. 1. The degree of satisfaction between domestic and imported theatrical costumes was different significantly. 2. The degree of satisfaction of domestic theatrical costumes was tow in the areas of design, color, fabric, and suitability with a historical background, compared with imported costumes. A major cause of the low degree of satisfaction was the lack of funds and professional theatrical costume designers. 3. The degree of satisfaction of imported theatrical costumes was low in the cost, size, and alteration and mending facilities, compared with the domestic costumes. The problems of size was caused by the shape difference between Koreans and a foreigners 4. further research should be conducted into the theatre costumes suitable for the domestic theatrical artists's size, and body shape.

  • Fatigue cracked components often needs to be repaired during service. Standard repair schemes involve strengthening the component by connecting reinforcing members by means of rivets or welding by reducing the crack-tip stress intensity factors. Recent technological advances in fiber reinforced composite materials and adhesive bonding have led to the development of efficient repair schemes. In this study, the influence of various shape parameters on fatigue crack growth in the CCT type uniform thickness plates and the thin-ta-thick type stiffened panels repaired with woven fabric type Kevlar-Epoxy composite patch are studied experimentally.

  • This study was designed to obtain the basic data developing the UV ray protective garments for the plastichouse workers. Two subjects were volunteered for 1hr. wear test in plastic house, and the ensembles was composed of one of three kinds blouse (UV blocking blouse, polyester/cotton 47/53 blouse, and polyester blouse), shorts, sleeveless undershirts, pants and socks. The measurements were rectal temperature, skin temperature, microclimate inside clothing, subjective sensation, and the colour difference of UV sensor. The results were as follows: 1. Microclimate especially, temperature inside clothing of polyester blouse was the highest among the garments. And UV-proof polyester blouse showed the lower mean skin temperature and microclimate than others. Showing the highest sweat volume. 2. No significant difference on UV ray blocking function among 3 kinds of garment was shown. 3. We could conform that in spring for the plastic house wぉw s garment low thermal insulating value and wide covering area were more important factors than UV blocking function of fabric.

  • The study mainly focused on textile evaluation criteria and clarified the relationship between the levels of clothing involvement and demographic variables. Subjects were 459 women living in JeonJu. SPSS package was used to analyzed the data. The main findings of this research were as follows: 1. Textile evaluation criteria such as the high quality of textile, the component of fiber, the easeness of care, and the durability of fabrics were used for the jackets and the coats. As regards the blouses and the shirts, the easeness of care, the high quality of fabric, the component of fiber, and the comfort of wearing, the easeness of care and the shape for better looks influenced the decision making process of consumers. 2. The subjectives were categorized into three groups depending upon the clothing involvement level. They have shown significant differences from demographic factors such as age, marrige, education, and occupation.
