속눈썹디자인에 따른 눈 형태의 이미지변화 연구 (A Study on the Image Changes of an Eye Shape according to Eyelash Design)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the need of the eyelash design area and the changes of an eye image according to eyelash design. Methodology included both a theoretical research and an empirical research. The theoretical research reviewed previous researches and technical books. The empirical research divided eye shapes, complemented the defect of eye shapes, and examined resulting image changes. A mechanical way was performed for treatment because it was more efficient than a manual way. A J-curl type was used. Eye length was divided into five and the point was determined. The length and density of curl were changed in each point to maximize a treatment effect. As a result, eye images were changed as follows. First, round eyes became stable. Slit eyes became vivid and soft. Wide-set eyes became intelligent and narrow-set eyes became smooth. Large eyes were naturally gradated and small eyes became larger. Double-eyelid eyes became stable and elegant and single-eyelid eyes became gentle and soft. Bulging eyes became easy and soft and sunken eyes became smooth. Peaked eyes became gentle and soft and sleepy eyes became strong and vivid. Based on the findings, eyelash design can play a role in changing an image according to eye shapes. In particular, a speed eyelash extension device to extend eyelash can reduce working hours and gradate only by angle control. It can complement the defect of eyes according to the design of each shape and change into a better image.

속눈썹 추출 방법을 이용한 홍채 인식 성능 향상 연구 (A Study on Performance Enhancement for Iris Recognition by Eyelash Detection)

  • 고 수준의 정보 보안이 요구되는 분야에서 최근 많이 사용되고 있는 홍채 인식 알고리즘에서는 홍채 근육의 무의 패턴을 이용하여 고유한 홍채 코드를 생성하고, 이를 이용하여 동일인인지 여부를 판별하게 된다. 그런데 홍채 영역의 위치에 다른 불필요한 정보가 포함되어 홍채 영역을 가리게 된다면, 홍채 인식에서 오류가 발생할 확률도 증가하게 된다. 그 불필요한 정보 중에 대표적인 것이 속눈썹이다. 홍채 영역을 덮고 있는 속눈썹을 홍채 패턴으로 취급하여 인식에 그대로 사용할 경우, 속눈썹의 위치가 변경되게 되면 그에 따라 홍채 코드 역시 바뀌게 되어 인식 오류도 증가하게 될 것이다. 이러한 문제점을 해결하기 위하여 이 논문에서는 마스크 기반으로 속눈썹을 추출함으로써 정확한 홍채 영역을 검출하고, 이를 이용하여 홍채 인식의 성능을 향상시키는 방법을 제안하고자 한다. 실험 결과 본 논문에서 제안하는 속눈썹 추출 알고리즘을 사용하지 않았을 때의 인식성능(EER)보다 제안하는 알고리즘을 사용했을 때의 인식 성능이 $0.18\%$ 향상되는 결과를 얻었다.

  • 홍채 인식은 동공의 확대, 축소 역할을 하는 홍채 근육의 무의 패턴을 이용하여 동일인 여부를 판별하는 연구 분야이다. 이러한 홍채 인식은 기존의 생체 인식(얼굴, 지문, 정맥 및 음석 인식 등)방법들에 비해 정확도가 상대적으로 높은 것으로 알려져 있으므로, 최근 고 수준의 정보 보안이 요구되는 분야에서 널리 사용되고 있다. 그런데 홍채 영역 내에 눈꺼풀,눈썹과 같은 다른 불필요한 정보가 포함되어 홍채 영역을 가리게 된다면 홍채 인식에서 오류가 발생할 확률도 증가하게 된다. 즉, 홍채 영역을 덮고 있는 눈꺼풀 및 눈썹을 홍채 패턴으로 취급하여 인식에 그대로 사용할 경우, 눈꺼풀과 눈썹의 위치가 변경되게 되면 그에 따라 홍채 코드 역시 바뀌게 되어 인식 오류도 증가하게 될 것이다. 이러한 문제점을 해결하기 위하여 이 논문에서는 피라미드 탐색 기반 포물선 가변 템플릿을 이용하여 눈꺼풀을 추출하였으며, 또한 눈썹 마스크를 이용하여 고속으로 눈썹 영역을 추출하였다. 실험 결과 본 논문에서 제안하는 눈꺼풀 및 눈썹 추출 알고리즘을 사용하지 않았을 때의 인식성능(EER)보다 제안하는 알고리즘을 사용했을 때의 인식 성능이 $0.3\%$ 향상되는 결과를 얻었다.

펩타이드 함유 화장품의 속눈썹 상태변화 연구 (Research on changes in the condition of eyelashes in cosmetics containing peptides)

  • 본 연구는 펩타이드 함유 화장품이 속눈썹 미용법으로서의 효능을 검증해 보고자 하였다. 연구대상은 20세 여성 21명을 대상으로 실험군(오른쪽 속눈썹)과 대조군(왼쪽 속눈썹)으로 설정하여 4주간 펩타이드 화장품의 사용에 따른 변화 측정을 진행하였다. 분석결과, 속눈썹의 길이와 밀도 변화는 집단과 실험기간 간의 상호작용, 각 실험기간에 따른 주 효과에서 유의한 차이가 있는 것으로 나타났다(p<.001). 속눈썹의 밀도와 두께 변화에서는 측정 시기별 집단 간 차이에서 3주차와 4주차에서 유의미한 차이가 있는 것으로 나타났다(p>.05, p>.01). 펩타이드를 함유한 화장품은 미용적 시술에 의한 부작용을 고민하는 사람들에게 속눈썹의 길이와 수적인 증가로 안전하고 아름다운 속눈썹을 위한 효과적인 미용방법임을 효과적으로 입증하였다. 이에 향 후 다양한 연령층으로 확대된 연구의 진행을 기대한다.

속눈썹용 원사의 물리적 성질 및 제품성능 (The Physical Properties and Performance of Products for Eyelash Monofilaments)

  • In this study, the flat-section monofilaments of PBT for artificial eyelashes was developed, and the physical properties of the circular cross-section of artificial eyelashes were compared and observed, and the main performance of the artificial eyelash prototype was observed through processing for artificial eyelashes. In addition, a satisfaction survey of the prototype was conducted through a survey of consumers and artificial eyelash operators. It was found that the bending stiffness value of the monofilaments increased significantly as the thickness increased. As a result of measuring the bending properties of the flat-section PBT monofilaments, the bending stiffness was significantly lower than that of the circular-section PBT specimens of the same thickness. The deformed cross-section PBT monofilaments with flat cross sections developed in this study showed a light weight factor of less than 50% compared to the existing circular cross-section PBT ones. The adhesive strength of the developed PBT artificial specimens was greater than that of the existing circular cross-section yarn. It was also observed that the curl stability over time was excellent. As a result of the consumer survey, it was possible to obtain more than 85% of positive answers in the case of consumer subjects, and it was possible to investigate that the satisfaction of the operator subjects was more than 80% compared to the existing round-section eyelashes.

홍채 인식을 위한 홍채 영역 추출 (The study of iris region extraction for iris recognition)

  • In this paper, We proposed an algorithm which extraction iris region from 2D image. Our method is composed of three parts : internal boundary defection and external boundary detection. Since eyelid and eyelash cover part of the boundary and the size of iris changes continuously, it is difficult to extract iris region accurately. For the interior and exterior boundary detection, we used partial differentiation of histogram. Performance of the proposed algorithm is tested and evaluated using 360 iris image samples.

The Reliability of the Transconjunctival Approach for Orbital Exposure: Measurement of Positional Changes in the Lower Eyelid

  • Background: Lower eyelid incisions are widely used for the orbital approach in periorbital trauma and aesthetic surgery. In general, the subciliary approach is known to cause disposition of the lower eyelid by scarring the anterior lamella in some cases. On the other hand, many surgeons believe that a transconjunctival approach usually does not result in such complications and is a reliable method. We measured positional changes in the lower eyelid in blowout fracture repair since entropion is one of the most serious complications of the transconjunctival orbital approach. Methods: To measure the positional changes in the lower eyelids, we analyzed preoperative and postoperative photographs over various time intervals. In the analysis of the photographs, marginal reflex distance 2 ($MRD_2$) and eyelash angle were used as an index of eyelid position. Statistical analyses were performed to identify the significance in the positional changes. All patients underwent orbital reconstruction through a transconjunctival incision by a single plastic surgeon. Results: In 42 blowout fracture patients, there was no statistical significant difference in the MRD2 and eyelash angle. Furthermore, there were no clinical complications, such as infection, hematoma, bleeding, or implant protrusion, during the follow-up periods. Conclusion: The advantages of the transconjunctival approach for orbital access include minimal scarring and a lower risk of eyelid displacement compared with other approaches. Based on these results, we recommend the transconjunctival approach for orbital exposure as a safe and reliable method.

장파장 근적외선 조명 및 밴드 패스 필터 기반 이동형 홍채 인식 시스템 및 성능 평가 (Mobile Iris Recognition System Based on the Near Infrared Light Illuminator of Long Wavelength and Band Pass Filter and Performance Evaluations)

  • 최근, 휴대성과 이동성이 뛰어난 모바일 단말기 환경에 홍채 인식 기술을 도입하여 신원을 확인하는 연구가 진행 되었는데, 이러한 모바일 홍채 인식 시스템은 취득된 홍채 영상 품질에 따라 인식률이 좌우된다. 홍채 영상은 취득 시 조명환경에 영향을 많이 받게 되는데, 기존의 시스템은 태양광이 없는 실내에서는 높은 인식률을 보이나, 실외 태양광 환경에서는 외부태양광이 홍채 영역에 투사되어 입력 영상 내에서 홍채 패턴의 그레이 레벨 변화, 고스트(Ghost region) 및 속눈썹 그림자(Eyelash shading region) 발생 등의 요인으로 인식 성능 저하를 초래하는 문제가 있었다. 이를 해결하기 위하여, 본 연구에서는 850nm 근적외선 조명과 850nm 대역 밴드 패스 필터를 장착한 홍채 카메라 시스템을 제안한다. 성능 평가를 위해 기존의 홍채 인식시스템과 제안하는 홍채 인식 시스템을 사용하여 실내 및 실외 태양광 환경에서 취득한 홍채 영상으로부터 홍채코드를 추출한 후 타인 수락률(False Acceptance Rate), 본인 거부율 (False Rejection Rate)을 통한 균등 에러율(EER, Equal Error Rate)을 측정하였다. 실험 결과 기존의 시스템 보다 제안하는 시스템의 EER이 실내 정면 조명일 때 약 0.96%, 실외 정면 조명일 때 약 4.94%, 실외 측면 조명일 때 약 9.24%, 실외 후면 조명일 때 약 7% 낮아지는 개선된 성능을 보였다.

  • Distichiasis is one of the diseases commonly encountered in companion animals, and these abnormal eyelashes cause corneal ulcers, continuous eye irritation, eye pain, glare, epiphora, foreign body sensation and can cause corneal opacity and vision loss in severe cases. In this study, an eyelash epilation needle for animals was developed and applied to a real case, and the results were observed. In a case of corneal ulcer caused by distichiasis of a 2-year-old Shih Tzu, a high-frequency surgical instrument for animals was converted into an electric epilation needle to attempt a procedure to destroy the eyelash hair follicles on the upper eyelid. A epilation needle was developed to have a diameter of 0.1 mm and a length of 4 mm at the end of the handle of DOCTANZ 400, an electrosurgical instrument for animals only. In the procedure, 2~3 mm of an epilation needle was inserted into the hair follicle, and 1 watt of electric power was applied to the hair follicle for about 5 sec. to carry out electrolysis until white bubbles were generated around the meibomian glands thereby destroying the hair follicle. As a result, no eyelashes grew any longer in the treated area indicating that the treatment was successful. It is hoped that the method developed in this study will be applied so that it will be widely used as a treatment method for distichiasis in companion animals that can be frequently seen hereafter.

현대 메이크업에 나타난 네오아방가르드 경향에 관한 연구 -1990년대 후반 캣워크를 중심으로 - (A Study on the Neo-Avantgarde Tendency Expressed in the Modern Make-up -with the Main Point of the Late 1990's Catwalk-)

  • The purpose of this thesis is to review relationship between various expression method in modern make-up and the tendency of Neo-Avantgarde. In this paper, the author classified the distinctive characters in Neo-Avantagarde with Historicism, Decadence, Humor, and Inhumanism and explained innovation and creatio which is manifested in the late 1990\`s make-up by studying Neo-Avantgarde tendency expressed in modern make-up. The results are as follows. 1. The Historicism in modern make-up is expressed in Japanese Kabuki Make-up, Chinese Pecking Opera make-up, and Primitive mask Make-up in Africa. 2. The Decadence is manifested in Tattoo make-up which is expressing fetishism and fin-de-냗칟 image, and Snobism Make-up which is expressing selg-ostentation and eroticism with artificial nail and eyelash. 3. The humor appears to the Character Make-up copying the characters in doll plays, animation and juvenile story. In addition it is showed in Kitsch Make-up, which has vulagr, rustic and childish image by wearing so diffusive and cheap ornaments. 4. The Inhumanism is appeared in Graphic Make-up which is in the pursuit of the visual happiness. It includes simple geometrical type, drawing and coloring. It is also showed in Vampire Make-up, which means the make-up style mading horro, hizarrerie, and mistery by primary color(black and red) make-up. As the above, Neo-Avantgarde can account for the diversity and pluralism of contemporary make-up.
