A primary malignant melanoma of the vagina is a very rare gynecological malignant tumor. Its clinical behavior is more aggressive than that of cutaneous and vulvar melanomas. We present a case of a large sized primary melanoma of the lower third of the vagina, with a cervical lesion, in a 58-year-old postmenopausal woman. The patient was treated with conventional external radiation therapy and intracavitary radiotherapy (ICR), without surgical treatment. Although the primary lesion showed a partial response, the patient died of extensive metastases, which were found 4.5 months after the initial diagnosis. We suggest that shortening the treatment period, such as hypofractionated radiation therapy and surgical removal, and various systemic therapies for preventing early distant metastasis, are appropriate treatments for a primary malignant melanoma of the vagina, with a large tumor size.

I examined and referred to literatures of every generations on the nicknames, causes, herb medications and acupucture treatments of ptosis(上胞下垂) And then the results were obtained as follows. 1. The nicknames of ptosis(上胞下垂) are hyumok(휴목), chimpung(侵風), geompye(瞼廢), geompisubok(瞼皮垂覆), posu(胞垂) and bigwon(脾倦) which corresponds to blepharoptosis in Western Medicine. 2. The congenital ptosis(上胞下垂) is mostly caused by innate disposition(稟賦不足). The acquired ptosis(上胞下垂) is mostly caused by Qi sinking of Tri-energizer(中氣下陷). And besides this, there are Blood stasis due to Qi stagnancy(氣滯血瘀), invasion of the eyelid by wind(風邪入絡), Qi and Blood deficiency(氣血不足), Phlegm syndrome due to wind(風痰阻絡), Wind syndrome due to Yang hypertrophy(陽亢動風) and Stagnation of Liver Qi(肝氣鬱結). 3. In herb medication of ptosis(上胞下垂), Bojungikgitang(補中益氣湯) was used 14 times most and its effects are nourishing the spleen to promote the flow of Qi(健脾益氣) and elevating the YangQi and activation the meridian(升陽活絡). In the following, Insamyangyeongtang(人蔘養榮湯) was done 6 times and has effects of promoting the Qi and activating the blood(益氣養血) and of promoting blood circulation and restoring flow(活血通絡). The next, Jungyongtang(正容湯) appeared 5 times and this can expel wind, resolve phlegm and restore flow(祛風滌痰通絡). As single herb, Radix glycyrrhizae(甘草) was used 66 times most. Besides this, there are a few herbs used many times like Rhizoma atractylodis macrocephalae(白朮), Radix angelicae gogantis(當歸), Radix ginseng(人蔘). Radix astragali(황기) and Rhizoma cimicifugae(升麻). 4. In acupunture treatment, Chanzhu(撰竹) was used 19 times most. Besides this acupoint, there are some points choson frequently like Zusanli(足三里), Sanyinjiao(三飮交), Yangbai(陽白), Taiyang(太陽), Tongziliao(瞳子 ), Jingming(晴明), Hegu(合谷) and Fengchi(風池).

This experiment was carried out to increase the utility and productivity of forage crop as to investigate the rotation system which is suitable to cultivat at the alpine area. The treatments were 9 crops combinations including corn - rye treatment. The results obtained were as follows: 1. Rye can be cultivated satisfactorily at cold and high altitude areas such as Tae Kwan Ryong. 2. Corn, to be raised as a second crop after rye in the same year, does not have to be early (short) or medium maturity varieties in the high alpine area. 3. It is possible to increase the harvest by 30% in terms of dry melter or green crop yield through raising two crops, rye and corn, in the same year. 4. Maturity period or growth conditions of corn. as a tropical crop and the best forage crop, can improve or worsen acording to the external circumstance, such as low temperature resulting from high atitude.
Cervical spondylomyelopathy (CSM) is rarely identified in small-breed dogs. Two neutered female Pekingese dogs (less than 5 kg of body weight) with primary complaints of neck pain and paretic gait were presented. These cases were diagnosed as CSM secondary to vertebral instability through cervical survey radiography, myelography, computed tomography (CT) and CT-myelography. The combinatory treatments of ventral slot decompression, cancellous bone graft and external coaptation were performed. Clinical condition of both dogs remarkably improved and no complications or recurrence occurred following the surgical procedures. In small-breed dogs with CSM, the combination of decompression through ventral slot and stabilization through bone fusion is an effective treatment.
Radial nerve injury is caused by variety of etiologies, mainly traumatic. It is primarily a motor nerve and loss of it's function leads to a significant disability. Surgical treatments of radial nerve comprise of neurolysis(internal or external), neurorrhaphy(eineural, perineural or epi-perineural), nerve graft and tendon transfer. However, there is still controversies in treatment methods and time of operation. Authors experienced 23 cases of radial nerve injuries who were treated by operative methods and followed up over 1 year's duration. The male to female ratio was 18 to 5 and mean age was 30.7 years old. The causes were 13 cases in fractures, 5 cases in crushing injury, 3 cases in laceration, 1 case in CO poisoning and 1 case in unknown cause. The summary of the study were as follows ; 1. Excellent or good results were obtained in overall 16 cases among 23 cases; 5 of 9 cases in neurolysis, 3 of 3 cases in neurorrhaphy, 2 of 3 cases in nerve graft and 6 of 8 cases in tendon transfer. 2. In cases of neurorrhaphy and nerve graft, primary or delayed repair showed excellent or good results and neurolysis performed before 6 months leads to better results. But there was no correlations between the time of injury and operation in tendon transfer. 3. The radial nerve injury associated with extensive soft tissue defect or any conditions that leads to nerve ischemia results poor prognosis. 4. The patients aged under 40 years showed better prognosis in clinical results according to the age of surgical treatment. 5. If the surgeon decide the method and the time of operation through the exact evaluation of the factors which influencing the end result such as age of the patient, level and type of injury, extent of nerve lesion and the associated tissue injury, good result could be expected.
The female's part-cold hypersensitivity syndrome is a disease which the oriental people better than the western people suffer from and if it would be sick for a long time, it could bring into the other diseases. In the Oriental Medicine, the coldness is regarded as one of the most important causes which induce female's diseases. Nowadays the number of the female patients are ascending that serously appeal the coldness-sense and pain-sense at the particular part of the body, for example, hand, foot, abdomen, waist, external genital portion and so on. These are caused by female's own characteristics of the menstration and delivery, and the influence of the circumstances. The Oriental Medicine have better effects by the diagnosis and treatment according per symptom in the contrast with the Western Medicine having difficulties in the point of accurate diagnosis and treatment. This epidemiologic study was undertaken by using specifically designed questionair and physical examination to evaluate the incidence and degree of female's part-cold hypersensitivity syndrome in 362 parous women, Who were randomly selected among the patients visiting the Department of Gynecology, Kyung Hee Medical Center from Feb. to Jul. 1995. The results were as follows: 1. The overall incident of female's part-cold hypersensitivity syndrome was 92.8%. 2. Subdivision of 336 patients was made according to severity Grade I - 31.9%, severity Grade II - 46.9%, severity Grade III - 21.4%. 3. As for the appealed portion of female's part-cold hypersensitivity syndrome, foot and hand, lower abdomen, knee, waist, hip, shoulder, leg, and ankle were in desending order. 4. As for the causes of female's part-cold hypersensitivity syndrome, it was deeply associated with the management of the abortion, delivery and puerperium. 5. The incidence of female's part-cold hypersensitivity syndrome did not show incerased tenency according to the quantity and quality of female's menstration, leukorrhea, and the increase of parity. 6. 165 patients among 336 patients wanted the treatments of the Oriental Medicine.
Objectives: Poncirus trifoliata Rafinesque has been known to have anti-allergic effects in skin diseases. However, anti-atopic dermatitis effects of P. trifoliata Rafinesque have not been studied yet in skin diseases. The present study evaluated the anti-atopic dermatitis effects of P. trifoliata Rafinesque (PTR) using external treatments on AD. Methods: AD lesions were induced by the repeated application of 2, 4-Dinitrochlorobenzene (DNCB) on the shaved back of BALB/c mice. $100{\mu}{\ell}$ of PTR extracts was applied to the AD lesions for 11 days. Histological assessments, mast cells count and serum levels of IgE were analyzed. The anti-pruritic effects of PTR were examined by the change of scratching frequency and nerve growth factor (NGF) expression. In addition, the anti-inflammatory effects of PTR were examined by the expressions of Th2/Th1 cytokines and pro-inflammatory in dorsal skin. Results: Histopathological findings showed that topical application of PTR decreased the thickness of dermal and epidermal skin compared with the DNCB group. PTR also notably decreased the mast cells count and serum IgE. The scratching behavior of mice and expression of NGF were significantly reduced. In addition, PTR group significantly suppressed the IL-4, IL-6, IFN-${\gamma}$ and TNF-${\alpha}$ cytokines compared to the DNCB group. Conclusions: These results indicated that P. trifoliata Rafinesque possess anti-pruritus and anti-atopic dermatitis properties. Therefore, P. trifoliata Rafinesque might be used for treatment of pruritus and atopic dermatitis.
Objective: The purpose of this study was to investigate the oriental cause and treatment of the polyhidrosis of hands and feet. Methods: It was studied 47 kinds of Oriental Medical literature for polyhidrosis of hands and feet Results: Polyhidrosis of hands and feet due to lowered superficial resistance brought on by deficiency of qi. Main pathogenesis(病因病機) is the heat in the middle energizer(中焦熱) such as heat in the stomach(胃熱) and the spleen and stomach heat stagnation(脾胃積熱), deficient in Yin and Yang, qi and blood(陰陽氣血), and retention of undigested food(食積) due to improper diet(飮食不能). Treating method(治法) is eliminating dampness and regulating the stomach(淸熱燥瀑和中), invigorating, replenishing spleen qi(補益脾氣), and nourishing the stomach Yin(滋養胃陰). Treating prescription(治方) is presented as Palmultang with Additional Ingredients Rhi.zoma Pinelliae, Pona for principle drug Rhi.zorm Typfwnii Radix Aconiti for adjuvant and messenger drug(八物湯加半夏 茯笭君 白附子 川烏爲在使), Daeshihotang(大柴胡湯), Cheongbisan(淸脾散), Moryeosan(牡蠣散) etc. The external treatments(外用法) are described as ways of washing hand and foot after steaming with boiled Decoction(牡蠣散) of AJurnen(白礬); Radix Puerariae(乾葛), Radix Astragali(黃?); Radix Puerariae(乾葛), Herba Schiwnepetae(荊芥); Radix Saposhnikoviae (防風), 白礬(AIumen). The acupuncture recipes (鍼治療法) are the toninfication(補) of Buryu(KI 7)(復溜) ; Eumgeuk(HT 6)(陰?), tonification(補) methods of Buryu(KI 7)(復溜) ; Gihae(CC 6)(氣海) and reduction(潟) of Hapgok(LI 4)(合谷), the reduction(潟) of Hapgok(LI 4)(合谷), tonification of Buryu(Kl 7)(復溜), reduction(潟) of Jigu(TE 6)(支溝) ; Taechung(LR 3)(太衝) ; Yangneungcheon (GB 34)(陽陸泉). and selection of points of Hapgok(Li 4) (合谷) and Nogung(PC 8)(勞宮). The Tui-na therapies (推拿療法) are removing heat from the stomach meridian(淸胃經O) and so on.
Coccidiosis control programs such as vaccines or in-feed anticoccidials are commonly practiced in the poultry industry to improve growth performance and health of commercial broiler chickens. In this study, we assessed the effects of various coccidiosis control programs (e.g., in ovo vaccination, synthetic chemicals, and antibiotic ionophores) on immune status of broiler chickens vaccinated against infectious bronchitis virus and Newcastle disease virus (ND) and raised on an Eimeria-contaminated used litter. In general, the levels of ${\alpha}$-1-acid glycoprotein, an acute phase protein, were altered by the treatments when measured at 34 days of age. Splenocyte subpopulations and serum antibody titers against ND were altered by various coccidiosis control programs. In-ovo-vaccinated chickens exhibited highest mitogenic response when their spleen cells were stimulated with concanavalin A (Con A) at 7 days of age. It is clear from this study that the type of coccidiosis control program influenced various aspects of innate and adaptive immune parameters of broiler chickens. Further studies will be necessary to delineate the underlying relationship between the type of coccidiosis control program and host immune system and to understand the role of other external environmental factors such as gut microbiota on host-pathogen interaction in various disease control programs.

Kamidojuk-San (KDJS) is known to be effective for treating cardiovascular diseases such hypertension, and clinically applied for the treatment of cerebral palsy or stoke patients. Yet, the overall mechanisms underlying its activity at the cellular levels are not known. Using experimental animal system, we investigated whether KDJS has protective effects on cells in cardiovascular and nervous systems. KDJS was found to rescue death of cultured primary neurons induced by AMPA, NMDA and kainate as well as BSO and Fe/sup 2+/ treatments. Moreover, KDJS treatment promoted animal's recovery from coma induced by a lethal dose of KCN treatment, and improved survival in animals exposed to lethal dose of KCN. Neurological examinations further showed that KDJS reduced the time which is required for animals to respond in terms of forelimb and hindlimb movements. To examine its physiological effects on cardiovascular and nervous systems, we induced ischemic injury in hippocampal neurons and cerebral neurons by middle cerebral artery (MCA) occlusion. Histological examination revealed that KDJS significantly protected neurons from ischemic damage. Thus, the present data suggest that KDJS may play an important role in protecting cells of cardiovascular and nervous systems from external noxious stimulations.
