중소수출기업의 특성에 따른 수출 활성화 저해요인 인식차이에 관한 연구 (A Study on Differences in Perception of Export Disruption Factors by Characteristics of Small and Medium Export Companies)

  • Exports play an important role in Korea's economy and industry. Korea's share in world trade is also increasing. Governments and trade organizations are making great efforts to promote exports. However, since SMEs lack resources of enterprises, SMEs have a lot of difficulties in increasing exports compared to large enterprises. For this reason, in this study, we analyzed the difference of perception of export difficulties according to characteristics of small and medium export companies. As a result, four factors such as overseas market information, price and cost, competitiveness and regulation of importing country were derived. In addition, we investigated the differences in recognition of export difficulties by the stage of growth of company, period of export, products exported, export department, size of company. There was a significant difference in recognition. Especially, The companies which are the early stages of growth, short export period, finished product, the smaller the size of exports companies are more difficult in export difficulties.

국내 벤처기업 수출시기와 수출성과 결정요인에 관한 연구 (The Determinants of the Export Timing and Export Performance of Venture Firms.)

  • This paper develops a model of the export timing and export performance of venture firms by drawing by resource based view and born-global firm theory. The model aims at explaining the role of internal resources of small new venture firms and environment factors in accelerating the firm's export timing and achieving export growth. Hypothesses were developed around the following factors: management characteristics in terms of CEO's foreign experience and export commitment; organizational characteristics in terms of technological competence and marketing competence, and inter-functional cooperation; and finally environmental factors in terms of domestic and market attractiveness and foreign market attractiveness influence both the export timing and export performance. Structural equation modeling analysis by using 214 small new ventures provides a partial supports for the hypotheses. The result showed that technological competence have an influence on early export timing and that CEO's foreign experience and export commitment, technological competence and foreign market attractiveness are related export performance significantly. It also showed the significant relationship between export timing and export performance.

경북지역 중소기업 수출지원정책 및 제도 활용 실태분석 (An Analysis on the Export Promotion Policies for the Small and Medium Enterprises in Gyeong Buk Province)

  • This paper intends to analyse the export assistance programs for SMEs(Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises) located in Gyeongsangbuk-do Province as well as to suggest export promotion policy for the local government. In order to accomplish these objectives, the present paper makes an extensive survey about export-support programs conducted by Gyeongsangbuk-do Province. The survey was rigorously made to evaluate export-support programs taken by the provincial government of Gyeongsangbuk-do and the regional firms' awareness about them. The paper utilized SPSS for empirical analysis. The frequency analysis was used to know the precision of data and its general features. The Crosstabulation Analysis was also used to evaluate firms' recognition about export-support programs and their practical use, satisfaction and relationships with the characteristics of enterprises. The results show that the local government must effectively systematize export support programs and develop export-support programs customized for the characteristics of enterprises in Gyeongsangbuk-do.

수출 화주기업 물류위탁 특성이 포워더와의 거래형성과 지속에 미치는 영향 연구 (A Study on the Effect of Logistics Consignment Characteristics of Export Shippers on the Formation and Continuation of Transactions with Forwarders)

  • If import/export shippers entrust their international logistics activities to forwarders, they can receive good logistics services at a lower cost. Therefore, it is important to form a trading relationship between the export shipper company and the forwarder, and it helps to improve the competitiveness of the company. This study derives factors that an export shipper company forms a transaction relationship with a forwarder, and analyzes the effect of transaction formation factors on transaction continuity. Next, the relationship between export consignment characteristics of export shippers and their influence on transaction formation factors and transaction continuity is identified. As a result of the study, transaction formation factors consisted of price, quality, and companionship, and all factors were found to affect transaction continuity. The characteristics of consignment logistics for shippers are the proportion of consignment, the number of business partners, and the transaction period. The proportion of consignment and the number of business partners affected the price factor, and the number of business partners affected the quality factor. There was no mutual influence between the transaction continuity and the characteristics of the shipper's logistics consignment. Therefore, there is a need for recognition of a relationship that can grow between shippers and logistics companies through consignment transactions rather than subordinate recognition based on fair transactions.

수산물 수출 확대 전략 - 시장 성장성과 규모를 중심으로 - (Seafood Export Expansion Strategies - Focusing on Market Growth and Size -)

  • This study explores strategies to expand Korea's top 10 seafood export in the oversea market, with a specific focus on the impact of export concentration. For certain seafood items such as laver, crab, and mackerel, characterized by low export concentration, adopting a focused export expansion strategy is more effective. Conversely, highly concentrated seafood items such as toothfish, cod, pollack, and abalone face high risks in export performance due to their heavy reliance on a small number of key export countries. To ensure export stability, it is advisable to implement a diversified export expansion strategy for these highly concentrated seafood items. In the case of medium-concentration seafood items like tuna, oyster, and flounder, the decision between a concentrated or diversified strategy should be based on their specific export situations. Tailoring strategies to the distinctive market characteristics of each seafood item enables exporters to effectively increase oversea market share, promoting stability and sustained growth in export performance.

니트 의류 제품의 한.중 간 수출 특성 비교 (A Comparative Study on the Characteristics of Knitted Clothing Exports between Korea and China)

  • Clothing exports of Korea have been steadily declining since 1990, but its international competitiveness will be continued in the future because of its history and technology. The purpose of this study is to find out the characteristics of knitted clothing exports of Korea compared to China. Statistical data of knitted clothing articles(HS 61) $2000{\sim}2008$ were used for analyses. The results of the study were as follows: First, the proportion of knitted clothing export out of the total clothing export has been consistently increased in Korea and China both, it is similar now. Second, export articles of large proportion are different between Korea and China. Socks, gloves and fancy goods became major export articles in Korea and men's and women's clothing in China in late 2000's. Third, the unit price of Korean export clothing is higher than that of Chinese from two to ten times. Generally the growth rate of unit prices of Korea outpaced that of China. The results of this study will help Korean export firms to develop competitive export articles and make out export strategy.

수출성과와 기업특성: 기술혁신요인을 중심으로 (Export Performance and Firm Characteristics: Special Reference to Innovation Factors)

  • This paper investigates the relationships between export and firm characteristics, focusing on technology factors. It is based on a longitudinal data covering listed firms in the Korean manufacturing industry. A regression model for the determinant of export/sales ratio including dynamic adjustment process is tested on a cross-section sample of the year 2001. Empirical findings suggest that there is no significant relationship between export/sales ratio and firm's technological level. The hypotheses concerning human capital intensity and physical capital intensity are also rejected. But we found a positive and inversely U-shaped relationship between firm size and export/sales for basic material and capital good industry. As a dynamic aspect, we found that the pattern of export/sales ratio changed unstably over the last decade. Finally, some policy implications are presented.

기업내.외부 환경요인과 수출지원정책 활용도가 수출성과에 미치는 영향 - 중소수출기업을 중심으로 - (The Influence of Internal or Exterior Factors and Utilization of Export Assistance Programs on Export Performance - with reference to Korean Small-Medium Exporters -)

  • The purpose of this empirical study is an index to usage of export assistance programs for korean small-medium exporters. Build around the index make an analysis of SMEs internal or exterior factors have an effect on export at present or in future export performance and the relative importance. Based on 128 surveys form korean SMEs experienced export assistance programs, 8 hypotheses, which are set up each factor, were verified through the practical analysis. The main result of hypothesis drawn by empirical study are as follows : The more SMEs use the programs, the more high export performance at present and in future. Export competitive factor reject at present export performance, but it will affect future export performance. A size of the firm in the characteristics of SEMs will affect export performance. Export rate of own brand will not affect performance. Another factors show adoption partly concerned hypothesis. Classified exterior factors of SMEs, a intensity of market competition shows adoption partly concerned hypothesis. Market growth rate will affect export performance at present and future strongly. Finally the usage of assistance programs will affect between a consumption goods and an industrial goods differently. From this study we found if we want to develop the export assistance programs that can actually in phases help the SEMs.

한국 수출의류제품의 품목 특성 -1990년대를 중심으로- (Characteristics of Export Articles in Korean Clothing Trade -Focused on the 1990's-)

  • Clothing exports of Korea has grown rapidly till the latter half of the 1980's, contributing Korean economic development. However from the 1990's, the amount, the world market share and the international competitiveness of clothing exports have declined. Based on these phenomena, the purpose of this study was to identify the characteristics of export articles in Korean Clothing Trade focused on the 1990's. Statistical data of clothing articles(SITC 84 : Articles of apparel & clothing accessories) were used. The relative importance, trade orientation tendency and unit price of each export clothing articles were analyzed. The results of the study were as follows. On the relative importance, trade orientation tendency and unit price of each export clothing articles, outer garments or products that required complicated production process(e.g., coats, suits, ensembles, jackets, dress) had been decreased in the portion and weakened in the export orientation tendency. But one item in a set or casual wear like trousers, skirts, blouses, shirts, Jerseys, pullovers, T-shirts has been increased in the portion and risen in the unit price. These trends means that clothing exports of Korea were more focused on those category and the international competitiveness on those articles were advanced. From these results, this study can be contributed to establish the concrete clothing export articles strategies of Korean firms.

중소기업 수출성과의 결정요인에 있어서 무역포탈사이트 이용정도의 조절효과 분석 (An Analysis on the Moderating Effects of Degree of Utilization of TPSs on the Determinants of SMEs' Export Performance in Korea)

  • Trade Portal Site(TPS) is one of the innovative skills which makes it possible for small and medium-sized enterprises(SMEs) to manage international trade activities more efficiently by using the newest information and telecommunication technology. Based on performance and an existing research related to using information technology, this research analyzed the user's degree of utilization of TPSs which moderates effects between SMEs characteristics and export performance of SMEs. According to the results of the empirical study on actual data of 194 sample firms by using moderated regression analysis, there are significant only organizational characteristics among determinants(such as organizational characteristics, export characteristics) as the degree of utilization of TPSs. These research results provide many useful insights to the CEOs of SMEs using the services of TPSs, e-Trade system developers, and government policy makers. First, CEOs and managers of SMEs should have thorough understanding of the importance of the new information technology and e-Trade and positively adopt new e-Trade solutions and systems to their export processes to enhance global competitiveness. Second, TPS managers and e-Trade systems developers must concentrate on improving the user's degree of utilization of TPSs. Finally, the government agency should develop the various e-Trade promotion policies to support the efforts of SMEs organizational characteristics and TPS to increase the degree of utilization of TPS, which have positive effects on the export performance of SMEs.
