  • As the risk of technical leakage is increasing, technology protection support systems for small and medium-sized businesses have gained attention. This paper analyzed the perception gap of the user and policy-maker regarding technology protection support systems. First, to identify key elements of technology protection support systems and construct measurement factors, interviews with experts are conducted. Then, surveys are conducted to analyze the perception differences between the users and policy-makers. Factor analysis and ANOVA have been utilized to analyze survey results. The result shows that the perception gaps exist in the following areas: management system, cost reduction, copyright protection, customer satisfaction, leakage prevention, and awareness. To enhance the effectiveness of technology protection support systems, this paper suggests technology protection support systems should be customized in terms of the company's size and type of busines.

  • Objectives: This study was to examine the experts perception on the operation of the national health promotion fund and related policies, and to obtain the perspective on the improving governance of the fund. Methods: Experts opinion survey was recruited 120 experts who were public health officials, and members of board in academic societies related to health promotion and health policy, and 60 experts participated in the survey. Results: Most health care experts agreed that the current allocation of health promotion fund was not optimal with its lack of allocation on promoting healthy lifestyle and R&D for health promotion, while the majority of the fund was being spent on supporting national health insurance. Thus, establishing governance system and control tower for the fund was viewed as critical. Also the status of deliberation committee should be raised to higher position where it can hold practical authority to plan and evaluate fund spending. Conclusions: The priority of health promotion fund spending should be more on improving health such as modifying life-style and spreading healthy habits, rather than on disease management or subsidizing health insurance. It is recommended that change from to environment in health promotion policy regime is required to establish effective governance system for the fund operation.

  • This research examined how pilots perceive risks when faced with emergency flight situations. We had 116 commercial airline pilots evaluate riskiness of 39 non-routine flight situations. The pilots' risk perception was analyzed as a function of their position (captain vs. first officer), expertise (expert vs. novice), and military flight experience (with vs. without military experience). Results showed that captains evaluated potential-risk situations and low-risk situations more dangerous than first officers. However, there were no differences between experts and novices, and between pilots having military flight experience and pilots not having military flight experience in risk perception. The analysis of multi-dimensional scaling revealed that the pilots used controllability as a key dimension for evaluating riskiness, though the other dimensions they used varied with their position, expertise, and military flight experience.

The mothers' experiences were shown to include, 1) resolving small questions about the operation and management of a daycare center, 2) feelings of relief through observing the life style of infants and children, 3) the joy and reward of being a member of the monitoring group, et al. The directors' experiences were indicated to include 1) a psychological discomfort recognized as a target of the daycare monitoring and as 'another evaluation', 2) the confusion caused by different reviews, 3) an ambiguity on the unfamiliar indexes and contents electronically documented, et al. Conclusion/Implications: Based on these results, there was a discussion about actual suggestions and educational implications on the daycare monitoring program in order to improve the quality of daycare services in childcare centers.

  • Outbreaks of health risks such as the Influenza A virus (H1N1) are continuing, which highlights the immediacy of risk control strategies to reduce public's fear and protect the safety of the society. Evidence suggests that success for risk management is basically dependent on the public's willingness to adopt health behaviors recommended by experts, and the behavioral intention relies on their risk perception. Understanding of how individuals think of and feel about health risks is thereby important. This article aims to provide insights for future study on health-risk perception. The main streams and recent developments of theorizing and research on health risk perception are reviewed. The issues, such as (1) health risk perception is an important component for shaping relevant health policies as it reflects public trust of the institutions managing health risks, (2) despite this significance, however, few attempts have been made to address the meaning of 'perceiving health risks' in health services research, are shed light on. On the basis on the critical discussion of the contributions and the limitations of the literature, this article finishes with a few of research agendas by three levels of analysis in risk perception research.

  • Background: Engaging and Involving stakeholders who have different interests in changing health care policies are difficult task. As the literature on the governance in Korean health care field is rare, this study aims to provide empirical evidence of 'governing health policy'-the ways health care policy is made, implemented, and evaluated from a political perspective. Methods: The authors of this study conducted interviews with elites in policy and clinical areas, which was considered to be the most effective approach to gather in-depth information about the background of changing payment policy as well as the barriers or contributors for making the policy sustainable. A total of 14 experts (3 government officials, 2 representatives from medical profession, 3 professors form academic field, and 6 healthcare providers from New DRG pilot program hospitals) participated in 2 hour long interviews. Results: There was a perception gap of the feasibility and substantiality of new payment system among elites. The score was higher in government officers than those in scholars or clinical experts. Next, the interviewees indicated that Korean New DRG might not sustain without significant efforts to improving democratic aspects of the governance. It is also notable that all interviewees except healthcare providers provided negative expectation of the contribution of new payment system to increase administration efficiency. For clinical efficiency, every stakeholders perceived there was no increased efficiency after introduction of New DRG payment. Like general perception, there was a wide gap between the perception of stakeholders in quality change after implementing the new payment system. Finally, interview participants negatively assumed about the likelihood of New DRG to remain a case of successful reforms. Conclusion: This study implied the importance of social consensus and the governance of health policy.

  • The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effect of PBL program for cooperative practice between western and korean medicine. Third and fourth grade medical and Korean medical school students (experimental group: 16 students, respectively) in the Pusan National University were included in the study. Teaching methods was Problem-Based Learning (PBL) which was consist of 4 western and 4 korean medical students and 2 tutors. Modules have been developed by 8 subject experts or educational experts, who have also participated in the PBL as tutor. The program has been proceeded for 4 weeks, where two face-to-face discussions and self-directed learning were done in each module. In experimental group, students' perceptions about the other medicine were surveyed before and after the program and students' and tutors' satisfaction on the program was investigated. The perception survey was also done in the control group at the beginning of the study. The students who participated in this program had more positive perceptions about the other medicine, compared with control group. There were only significant increases on the items of 'understanding of the other medicine' between before and after the program, where no statistical differences were not observed in 'perception of the other medicine or cooperative practice'. Satisfaction in the program was positive. The PBL program enabled students to understand the other medicine, but it didn't lead changes of their perception. To improve students' perception, the program need to be kept steadily.

  • It is well known that consumer's quality perception is strongly affected by price. Higher priced products tend to be perceived to have better quality than lower priced products although the objective product quality is the same. However, it is less known the process through which quality perception is affected by price cues. The existing literature suggests three potential hypotheses (i.e., the selectiveprocessing hypothesis, the selective interpretation hypothesis, and the representativeness heuristic hypothesis) that explain the underlying processes of the price-induced quality perception. The current research tests among the three competing hypotheses and also examines the role of consumer knowledge as a moderating factor. An experiment was conducted to test the moderating role of the knowledge in the price-quality relationship and to investigate the underlying process. The results indicate that theinfluence of price on perceived quality differs between novices and experts. Expert consumers' quality perception is not significantly influenced by price and this finding is consistent with the extant literature. On the other hand, novice consumers' quality perception is affected by price and the tests on the underlying process support for the representativeness heuristic hypothesis. Novice consumers assess that a high-priced brand should have good product quality due to the belief that high (low) price brands represent better (worse) brand quality and such a representativeness heuristic occurs without involving selective attention or selective interpretation price-consistent information.
