  • In a rapidly changing market, the companies are applying a variety of elements for promoting sales for the inflow of consumers. For the elements of sales promotion, the tendency to apply the experiential marketing that provides a positive recognition centering on the customers, and in such tendency, the consumers places the values on the experience obtained from the spatial elements of sales promotion provided by the companies. As it is reflected on the life style of consumers, the drugstores applied with the experiential marketing as a mean of sales promotion is rapidly growing in the distribution market. In this study, the elements of sales promotion was picked out and 5 types of experience such as sense, feel, think, act, relate of Bernd H. Schmitt was investigated. The spatial composition of drugstores were classified into destination, assortment, convenience and occasion, and through self experienced visual research, the experiential marketing strategy applied to drugstores and the elements of sales promotion applied with experiential marketing was analyzed. The streets of Hongik University as a strategic point of beauty, by selecting four H&B stores which were recently opened, a future direction is proposed by conducting the case analysis on the elements of sales promotion of drugstores and the spatial composition of drugstores applied with experiential marketing. In conclusion, in overall space, the behavioral experiential elements are weak. The behavioral experiential elements are a marketing that induce the intuitive behavior added with expertise and considered difficult to be maintained. Although the consumers think that the biggest value of drugstores is 'free and convenient product test' but in the other hand, they tend to think most positively about the consulting of experts. Therefore, the space emphasized with expertise should be more highlighted but such space should consider the convenience of consumers.

  • In order to organize various places for science experience study, this study gathered and analyzed prior research on science experience study and various science experience perated in school. To that end, a total of 162 relevant prior studies of literature published from 2000 to 2016 were collected and 2,201 cases of science experience study conducted in 2015 were collected and analyzed. The place where the science experiential learning was done is divided into three areas of natural ecology, cultural history, facility experiential learning study, and the characteristics of participating subjects are examined. In terms of the number of articles published in the field of science-related experiential learning areas, 83 ecological experience study sites (51.2%), facilities institution experience study sites 56 (34.6%), and cultural history experience study books 23 (14.2%). Through this study, it was found out that research tendency to analyze science - related attitudes became prominent by setting study subjects using natural objects around and learning to play while playing and playing in nature. There was also an analysis by subjects of participation in science related experience learning centers. Cultural history experiential learning field was significantly lower than previous studies. In the lower grades, nature ecological experience learning was mainly performed. Combining the above findings, it can provide implications for the development of science-related experience activities. First, it is necessary to develop a technology-related experience learning center using local community resources. Second, it is necessary to expand the culture and history experience learning center related to science. Third, we need an education support center to support the expansion and operation of such a technology-related cultural history learning center.

For this purpose, we investigated the conditions of safety experience in Jeollabuk-do and the case of other cities as a factor for operating the school safety experience educational space. In order to clarify the appropriateness of this, a questionnaire was conducted for the teachers in the local area. As a result of the analysis, it was found that the use of two classrooms in the place and the scale in the operation of the school safety experiential education space should be sought in various places such as hall, multipurpose room, and gymnasium according to the school condition. Experiential areas should be operated by elementary school students customized, but specialized facilities or large scale should be used for professional safety experience facilities. For efficient operation, the base school wanted to be located in a place where accessibility of other school students was easy, and that a school with sufficient space would be selected.

  • The Therme Vals is a hotel and spa which combines a complete sensory experience designed by Peter Zumthor. This study aims to find emotional design approaches of the Therme Vals through references, observation from site visit, interview and discussion related to this topic. This space was designed for visitors to luxuriate and rediscover the ancient benefits of bathing. The combinations of light and shade, open and enclosed spaces and linear elements make for a highly sensuous and restorative experience. The study observed the emotional design characteristics of the Therme Vals through space approach, aesthetic and experiential sides. For space approach side, emotional experience in gradual process to approach the space was mentioned, for aesthetic side, mystical combination of light, stone and water was observed, for experiential side, 5 senses experience and space programing for adjusting the density of the space were observed. This study found that the spa has the quality of spiritual, soul-touching delight like religious experience. The fascination for the mystic qualities of a world of stone within the mountain, for darkness and light, for light reflections on the water or in the steam saturated air, pleasure in the unique acoustics of the bubbling water in a world of stone, the ritual of bathing-all these notions were explained in Peter Zumthor's construction details. In the result of the interview and discussion, people love the space and praised it highly for the emotional design regardless of space experience, age, sex or ethnicity. Emotional design approaches based on human nature, materiality, and memory of the places is more powerful than other emotional design ideas with technical devices, special themes, digital effects, vivid colors and shapes.

  • Recently, the reenaction of place's memories that were considered sense of place based on its historical and structural characteristic were assumed important topics for recovering and making the park from industrial sites, such as factory, industrial complex, industrial city, labor residential development, landfill, etc., to the public all over the world. This research aimed to conduct some preliminary data for making the park's sense of place highly. So, after conducting the structural forms of sense of place for Seoul Forest and Seonyudo Park that were designed and built by considering its place memories actively, park planning and design implications that were considered its sense of place were suggested. The research results those were derived from the structural forms of sense of place for Seoul Forest and Seonyudo Park's are the following. First, the Structural Equation Modeling(SEM) on Seoul Forest and Seonyudo Park were determined that the natural-physical, artificial-physical, and experiential environmental factors' satisfaction of Seoul Forest and Seonyudo Park have an effect on forming the Sense of Place. In addition, the sense of place was affected by the willingness to visit. Second, according to its physical environment, the experiential factors, such as plays, exercises and etc., were more important relatively. Therefore, experiential factors should be considered significantly with physical factors to make the sense of place highly. Third, even the places were under similar category, the factors' and valuables' relative importance were changed. As the results of structural equation modeling said, specific valuables' related with each factors would be differentiated due to the places' characteristics. For example, the results were showed that natural-physical factor was more important than artificial-physical factor in Seoul Forest. On the other hand, artificial-physical factor was more important than the natural- physical factor. This research carries some significance for applying a quantitative research method(structural equation modeling) to various place to conduct the sense of place's structural model, for suggesting relative specific methods to make the sense of place, and for being a step forward to substance of sense of place. If further studies conduct focusing on various places to draw the forming models of sense of place that were based this research's analysis methods and results, those researches would contribute to make the urban place meaningful, characteristically and affectionately. Furthermore, those researches would contribute in making a humane and competitiveness city.

  • The essay reflects on the work of Adrian Lapian (1929-2011), an Indonesian scholar of archipelagic/maritime Southeast Asia and its "sea people-sea pirates-sea kings." The essay suggests that Lapian's writing mirrors navigation at sea, and the constant re-orientation and ever-changing, multiple points of view that are part of it. This is contrasted to Foucault's "panopticism" and academic desire for discipline. Taking cue from Lapian's writing and from the present author's experience of seafaring, the essay envisions Southeast Asian studies as a fluid, precarious, disorienting, even nauseating multiplicity of experiences, dialogues, and moving, unstable, and uncertain points of view; a style of learning that is less (neo)colonial, more humble, and closer to experiences in the region, than super-scholarship that imposes universalizing, panoptic standards, theories and methods (typically self-styled as "new") that reduce the particular into a specimen of the general, a cell in the Panopticon. The essay concludes with reflections on certain learning initiatives/traditions at the National University of Singapore, including seafaring voyages-experiences, encounters, and conversations that make students and scholars alike to move and see differently, to be touched, blown away, rocked, swayed, disoriented, swallowed, transformed, and feel anew their places, roots, bonds, distances, fears, blindness, powerlessness.
