Selection of Color Smaples based on Genetic Algorithm for Color Correction (유전알고리즘을 이용한 색 보정용 색 샘플 결정)

  • Most color imaging devices often exhibit color distortions due to the differences in realizable color gamuts and nonlinear characteristics of their components. In order to minimize color differences, it is desirable to apply color correction techniques. Th efirst step of color correction is to select the subset of the color coordinates representing the input color space. Th eselected subset serves as so called color samples to model the color distortion of a given color imaging device. The effectiveness of color correction is determined by the color sampels utilized in the modeling as well as the applied color correction technique. This paper presents a new selection method for color samples based on gentic algorithm. In the proposed method, structure of strings are designed so that the selected color samples fully represent the characteristics of color imaging device and consist of distinct color coordinates. To evaluate the performance of the selected color samples, they ar etuilized for three different color correction experiments. The experimentsal results are comapred with the crresponding results obtianed with the equally spaced color samples.

  • The fringe-field switching (FFS) mode was known to exhibit both a wide viewing angle and high transmittance, especially when using the liquid crystal (LC) with negative dielectric anisotropy. In the device, the LC director rotates almost in-plane. However, in the bright state the device shows bluish and yellowish color along parallel and perpendicular to the LC director at off-normal directions since the LC director rotates only in one direction. Such a problem was greatly improved using a wedge shape of only pixel electrodes. In this way two different field directions exist in a pixel, enabling the LC director to rotate in two opposite directions. Consequently, owing to dual domain effect when using the LC with negative dielectric anisotropy, the viewing angle characteristics are greatly improved.

  • The electro-rheological fluids for semi-active suspension system are a class of colloidal dispersion which exhibit large reversible changes in their rheological behavior when they are subjected to external electrical fields. This paper presents Bingham properties of ER fluids subjected to temperature variations. In addition, an appropriate size of the ER damper for a passenger car is proposed to investigate the effects of Bingham characteristics on the damping performance. The filed-dependent damping forces are evaluated according to the temperature variation and sedimentation ratio.

  • High speed cutting is a machining process which cuts materials with the fast movement and rotation of a spindle in a machine tool. High speed cutting leaves a plastically deformed layer on the machined surface. This deformed layer affects in various forms to the surface roughness of machined parts such as the dimensional instability, the micro crack. The surface roughness is called surface integrity which is very important in precision cutting. This paper aims to study on the machined surfaces characteristics of aluminum alloy and brass by AFM(Atomic force microscope) measurement. The objective is contribution to ultra- precision cutting by exhibit foundation data of surface roughness and tool wear when parts are cutting with diamond tool at the factory.

Fathering Activities Patterns (영유아동기 자녀를 둔 아버지의 역할 행동유형)

  • The purposes of this study are to identify types of fathers who engaged in different patterns of interaction with their children and to examine the characteristics by different fathering patterns. Data are collected from 323 married men with the oldest child under 12 years old, using the structured questionnaire survey method. The major findings of the study are as follows: First, the fathering activities are composed of four factors, which are affective involvement, caretaking, social involvement and discipling. The respondents tend to exhibit the level of fathering activities higher than middle point. Second, using cluster analysis, three types of fathers are categorized: The affective type fathers scored significantly high on dimensions of affective involvement. Whereas the engaged fathers scored the highest on all domains of fathering, the disengaged fathers demonstrated significantly limited involvement. Third, the characteristics which are associated with fathering activities patterns are father's age, job type, work hour, frequency of meetings after work hour, job satisfaction and child rearing attitude. The results of this study suggest several implications to develop parent education program for fathers and their children.

An Application of Plasticity Model for Ice Deformation Characteristics (수변형 특성에 있어서 소성 모델의 응용)

  • This study focuses the mechanical deformation response predicted by the plasticity model for polycrystalline ice. To describe various deformation characteristics, ice is idealized as a perfectly plastic material using an asymptotic exponential failure criterion. This criterion is suite for describing materials which exhibit brittle deformation at low hydrostatic pressure and ductile deformation at high hydrostatic pressure. The results are compared to those of continuum damage mechanics model. Plasticity model shows good agreement with damage model and experimental results for high confining pressures even at high strain-rates which is usually considered as a brittle condition under uniaxial compression.

  • Sol-gel spin-coating technique was used to produce Nb2O5 thin films on silicon substrates from Nb(OC2H5)5 precursor. The films were heat-treated at temperatures between $600^{\circ}C$ and 100$0^{\circ}C$ in oxygen atmosphere and their crystalline phases, chemical states, and dielectric characteristics were investigated by X-ray diffractometry (XRD), Auger electron spectroscopy (AES), and C-V measurements, respectively. After 1 hour heat-treatment at 80$0^{\circ}C$, T-type Nb2O5 was formed, and its chemical composition was homogeneous with no appreciable SiO2 oxide at interfaces between the films and substrates. The films heat-treated at temperatures between $600^{\circ}C$ and 80$0^{\circ}C$ exhibit dielectric constant of less than 20 while the films heat treated at 100$0^{\circ}C$ show dielectric constant of 28.

  • The machining parts must be produced within the specification of drawing and those will be able to meet function and efficiency. At that time, it is very important not only precision machine and machining technique but also the measurement technique. So, the improvement of measurement technique is to be joined together at once with improvement of machining technique. Finally, the quality and value of the parts are decided by precision measurement. A Study on the Characteristics of Rural and Urban Surface Ozone Conentrations (청정지역과 도시지역의 오존농도 특성 연구)

  • A study has been performed on the characteristics of rural and urban surface ozone concentration for the period of March 1992 to February 1993. The monitoring station of rural ozone is located at Kosan, Cheju and other urban monitoring stations are located at Seoul, Pusan and Kwangju. Rural's and urban's ozone data exhibit a distinct features in many ways. First, annual mean of rural ozone concentration os very high(42 ppbv) but urban's are very low(10 .sim.15 ppbv). Second, rural ozone data shows a seasonal variation with it's maximum in spring, and minimum in summer, but urban's show a seasonal variation with it's maximum in spring, and minimum in winter. Third, diurnal variation of rural data is very small but that of urban's are very large. Fourth, urban's data are extremely low(< 3 ppbv) and have no seasonal variations.
