전신체조를 병행한 입 체조 프로그램이 노인의 정신건강에 미치는 영향 (The effect of an oral exercise program including whole-body exercises on the mental health of the elderly)

  • Objectives: This study investigated the influence of oral exercise programs with whole-body exercises on the mental health of the elderly. Methods: Elderly individuals aged 65 years or older were assigned to an experimental group and a control group. Oral exercises with whole-body exercises were conducted in the experimental group for 40 minutes, twice weekly, during 5 weeks from May to June 2021. To evaluate the effectiveness of the program, the oral health related quality of life (OHIP-14, GOHAI), mental health, happiness, and social support of the elderly were explored both before and after the execution of the program in the experimental group. A paired sample t-test was performed to check the changes in the factors investigated, both before and after the execution of the program in the two groups. Results: The values of difference between the experimental and control group were compared in relation to the dependent variables, before and after the execution of the oral exercise program with the whole-body exercises. It was found that statistically significant differences in the OHIP-14 (p=0.163), GOHAI (p=0.156), and feelings of happiness in the elderly (p=0.280) were not evident in the experimental group. However, statistically significant differences emerged with regard to the mental health and provision of social support of the elderly (p<0.05). Conclusions: It was found that the oral exercise program with whole-body exercises executed in this study were effective in improving the mental health and social support of the elderly. However, no significant differences were shown in oral health relating to quality of life and feelings of happiness. It is considered that these findings need to be verified by means of future long-term studies.

도수 교정과 안정화 운동 복합적용이 만성 허리통증 환자의 통증과 척추 만곡도에 미치는 영향 (Effect of combined application of manipulation and stabilization exercises on pain and spinal curvature in patients with chronic back Pain)

  • Background: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of the combined application of manipulation and stabilization exercises on pain and spinal curvature in patients with chronic back pain. Design: Randomized controlled trial Methods: The research subjects included 24 women in their 40s and 50s who have chronic back pain. The sample was evenly divided into an experimental group, which received the combined application of manipulation and stabilization exercises, and a control group, which received stabilization exercises only. The 30-minute intervention was applied five times a week for eight weeks. A bivariate repeated measures analysis of variances was conducted to identify the differences between the two groups before the experiment, after the fourth week, and at the end of the eight-week experiment. The level of statistical significance was set at.05. This analysis examined the within-group changes and the between-group changes using a paired t-test and an independent t-test, respectively. Results: Changes in pain differed significantly depending on the time of the measurement, the interaction between the time of the measurement and each group, and between the two groups (p<.05). Changes in the curvature of the bones of the neck, the bones of the back, and the lumbar vertebrae differed significantly depending on the time of the measurement and the interaction between the time of the measurement and each group (p<.05). Conclusion: The combined application of manipulation and stabilization exercises demonstrated a positive effect on changes in pain and spinal curvature, and the method is expected to be a useful intervention for reducing pain and improving spinal curvature in patients with back pain.

The effects of elastic band exercises and nutritional education on frailty, strength, and nutritional intake in elderly women

  • [Purpose] The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of elastic band exercises and nutritional education, as well as to identify the factors influencing frailty, strength, and nutritional intake of elderly women. [Methods] The subjects in this study were 30 elderly women who were divided into four groups. All groups agreed to participate in four programs: health education only (HE), elastic band exercises only (EX), nutritional education only (NU), and elastic band exercises plus nutritional education (EX+NU). Frailty was evaluated by measuring the frailty factors according to Fried et al. Leg strength was measured using a leg-extension machine. Nutritional intake was assessed by the 24-hour recall method and food records. Nutritional intake was analyzed by CAN Pro 5.0 program. [Results] After three months, the prevalence of frailty significantly decreased in the EX+NU group (P=0.013) compared with that of the HE group (P=0.088). There was significant improvement in leg strength in both the EX (P=0.012) and EX+NU groups (P=0.003) compared with that of the HE group (EX, P=0.005; EX+NU, P=0.002). The nutritional intake significantly decreased in the EX group compared with that of the HE group (P<0.05, P<0.05). [Conclusion] The combination of elastic exercises and nutrition education had positive effects on frailty and leg strength, while having negative effects on total calories, carbohydrate, sodium, and iron intake in elderly women. Elastic exercises only had positive effects on leg strength while having negative effects on nutritional intake in elderly women.

등뼈와 엉덩관절 가동성운동을 겸한 허리 안정성 운동이 만성 허리통증 여성 환자들의 통증과 균형에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Thoracic and Hip Joint Mobility Exercise and Lumbar Stability Exercise on Pain and Balance in Women with Chronic Back Pain)

  • Background: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the pain, static balance, and dynamic balance abilities of women with chronic low back pain by performing thoracic and hip joint mobility exercises and lumbar stability exercises. Methods: The subjects of this study were 20 adult women with low back pain who lived in C city for more than 12 weeks. The experimental group performed the thoracic and hip mobility exercises with lumbar stability exercises and the control group performed the lumbar stability exercise with general exercise program. Both groups participated in the exercise program three times a week for six weeks, from December 20, 2022 to March 7, 2023. The balance ability were measured using BT4, and pain was measured using visual analog scale (VAS). The collected data were analyzed by independent sample t-test and paired t-test using SPSS version 23.0 program. Results: After 6 weeks of intervention, there was a significant change in VAS between the experimental group and the control group, and there was no difference between the two groups (p>.05). In the case of balance ability, there was a no significant increase in the experimental group (p>.05). Conclusion: Thoracic and hip joint mobility exercises and lumbar stability exercises for adult female patients with chronic low back pain may be partially effective in static balance and dynamic balance.

어깨 가쪽돌림 운동 시 운동방법과 아래팔의 자세에 따른 가시아래근과 뒤어깨세모근의 근활성도 비교 (Comparison of Infraspinatus and Posterior Deltoid Muscle Activities According to Exercise Methods and Forearm Positions During Shoulder External Rotation Exercises)

  • Background: Shoulder external rotation exercises are commonly used to improve the stabilizing ability of the infraspinatus. However, during exercise, excessive activation of the posterior deltoid compared to the infraspinatus causes the humeral head to move anteriorly in an abnormal position. Many researchers have emphasized selective activation of the infraspinatus during shoulder external rotation exercise. Objects: This study aims to delineate the optimal exercise method for selective activation of infraspinatus by investigating the muscle activities of the infraspinatus and posterior deltoid according to the four shoulder exercise methods and two forearm positions. Methods: Thirty healthy individuals participated in this study. The participants were instructed to perform shoulder external rotation exercises following four exercise methods: sitting external rotation (SIER); standing external rotation at 90° abduction (STER); prone external rotation at 90° abduction (PRER); side-lying external rotation (SLER), and two forearm positions (neutral, supinated). The electromyography (EMG) signal amplitude was measured during each exercise. Surface EMG signals were recorded from the posterior deltoid, infraspinatus, and biceps brachii. Results: EMG results of the infraspinatus and posterior deltoid in PRER, were significantly higher than that of the other exercises (p < 0.01). The EMG ratio (infraspinatus/posterior deltoid) in SIER was significantly higher than that of the other exercises. EMG activation of the posterior deltoid in SIER, PRER, and SLER was significantly higher in neutral than in supinated (p < 0.01). Furthermore, the EMG of the infraspinatus in SIER was significantly higher in neutral than in supinated (p < 0.01). The EMG ratio (infraspinatus/ posterior deltoid) in SIER was significantly higher in neutral than in supinated (p < 0.05.) Contrarily EMG ratios in PRER and SLER were significantly higher in supinated than in neutral (p < 0.05). Conclusion: The results show that clinicians should consider these exercise methods and forearm positions when planning shoulder external rotation exercises for optimal shoulder rehabilitation.

정상 성인의 등뼈 가동성 운동이 등뼈가동범위 및 가슴 우리 확장에 즉각적으로 미치는 영향 (Immediate Effects of Thoracic Mobility Exercises on the Thoracic Range of Motion and Chest Expansion in Healthy Adults)

  • PURPOSE: This study examined the immediate effects of thoracic mobility exercises on the thoracic range of motion and chest expansion to provide data on thoracic mobility exercises in adults. METHODS: Adults were assigned randomly to two groups: the group that performed thoracic mobility exercises (TME group; n=10) or the group that performed thoracic mobility exercises using balance tools (TMEB group; n=10). The exercises were performed for 10 min in three different positions. The range of motion and chest expansion were measured before and after the exercise. RESULTS: The within-group comparisons before and after the intervention showed significant differences in the range of motion measurements for lateral flexion and rotation in the TME and TMEB groups (p < .05); difference in measurements of chest expansion was observed only in the TMEB group (p < .05). No significant differences in the range of motion for flexion and extension were observed in either group or during chest expansion in the TME group (p > .05). The between-group comparisons showed a significant difference in left lateral flexion (p < .05), whereas no other measures differed significantly (p > .05). CONCLUSION: The TME and TMEB groups showed significant increases in the thoracic range of motion; the TMEB group showed a significant increase in chest expansion.

이냐시오 '영신수련'에 대한 분석심리학적 고찰 (A Jungian Perspective on 'Spiritual Exercises' of St. Ignatius)

  • 크리스챤 영성의 관점에서는 '영성(靈性)'이란 바로 우리가 우리 자신이 되게 하는 영적 씨앗으로써 누구나 그 씨앗을 발아시켜 자기 자신의 온전한 본 모습을 찾아가는 길이다. 자기실현(自己實現) 또는 개성화과정은 융의 중심사상으로, 개인적 성격의 발달을 지향하는 분화의 과정이다. 달리 말해 의식과 무의식의 통합을 이루어 자신이 가지고 있는 모든 기능을 온전히 제대로 사용할 수 있도록 함으로써 전체성(全體性)을 달성해 나가는 과정이다. 그렇다면 이는 인간 누구에게나 주어진 삶의 중심과제일 수밖에 없다. 이런 측면에서 보면, 영성신학적인 견해와 분석심리학적인 견해가 서로 만날 수 있는 길이 보인다. 스위스 취리히(Zurich)의 연방기술연구소에서 1938년부터 1941년까지 열렸던 특강 시리즈에서, 융은 동양과 서양의 전형적인 상징과 변환과정에 대한 고찰을 통해 요가와 이냐시오 성인의 '영신수련', 그리고 연금술에 대해 강의하면서, 서양을 대표하는 인간 정신의 변환의 도구로써 이냐시오의 '영신수련'을 들고 있다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 이냐시오의 '영신수련'에 대한 융의 견해를 중심으로 '영신수련'을 개성화의 과정과 비교해봄으로써 그 분석심리학적 함의를 조명해보는데 중점을 두었다.

융합형 초음파 영상을 통한 세 가지 교각운동에 따른 몸통근육의 두께 비교 (Comparison of Trunk Muscles Thickness in Three Different Bridge Exercises by Ultrasound Fusion Imaging)

  • 본 연구는 융합형 초음파 영상(ultrasound fusion imaging)을 이용하여 세 가지 교각운동(bridge exercise) 방법에 따른 몸통근육의 두께변화를 알아보기 위해 실시되었다. 건강한 성인 남녀 32명을 대상으로 교각 운동을 실시하는 동안 배속빗근(internal oblique), 배바깥빗근(external oblique), 배가로근(transverse abdominis) 그리고 뭇갈래근(multifidus)의 두께를 측정하였다. 연구결과, 세 가지 교각운동 방법에 따라 배속빗근, 배가로근, 뭇갈래근에서 유의한 두께변화를 보였다. 배가로근과 뭇갈래근은 exercise C(sling)에서 두께가 가장 증가하였고, exercise B(gym ball)와 exercise A(fixed support surface) 순으로 증가하였다. 배속빗근은 치료용 볼을 이용한 교각운동 시 두께가 가장 증가하였고, 슬링과 고정된 지지면 순으로 증가하였다. 특히, 슬링에서의 교각운동이 몸통 근육 두께증가에 가장 효과적인 방법이라고 사료된다. 최근까지, 몸통근육을 활성화 시키는 효과적인 방법으로 슬링에서의 교각운동이 많이 제안 되었지만, 융합형 초음파를 이용하여 관찰한 연구는 많지 않았다. 따라서 본 연구의 결과를 통해 임상에서 다양한 교각운동의 처방과 적용 시에 유용한 지침을 제공하고자 한다.

복합운동이 어깨통증을 경험한 여대생들의 압통역치, 통증 및 자세정렬에 미치는 영향 (Effects of complex exercises in pressure-pain threshold, pain and postural alignment of women university students with shoulder pain)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 어깨통증을 경험한 여자대학생들의 압통역치 및 자세정렬에 어깨근육스트레칭, 어깨 안정화운동 및 자세교정운동을 포함한 복합운동이 어떤 영향을 미치는 지를 알아보고자 하였다. 연구대상자 21명을 대조군 7명(중재 미실시), 실험군 1(온습포, 스트레칭)에 7명, 실험군 2(스트레칭, 안정화운동 및 자세교정)에 7명으로 배정하여 각 중재를 3주간, 주당 4회 실시하였다. 그 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 오른쪽 및 왼쪽 위등세모근 압통역치와 시각적 통증척도(VAS) 점수의 중재 전 후 변화량은 대조군보다 실험군 2가 유의하게 더 큰 것으로 나타났다. 오른쪽 위등세모근 압통역치와 시각적 통증척도는 대조군보다 실험군 1이 유의하게 더 컸다. 반면에 목 각도의 세 집단 간의 중재 전 후 변화량은 유의한 차이가 없었다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 어깨통증을 경험한 여대생들에 대하여 스트레칭, 안정화운동 및 자세교정을 포함하는 복합운동은 압통역치 증가 및 통증감소에 효과적임을 제안한다.

질회음 근육운동이 기혼여성의 성기능에 미치는 효과 (The Effect of Circumvaginal Muscle Exercise on Sexual Function in Married Women)

  • The effect of circumvaginal muscle(CVM) exercises to improve sexual function in married women has not been investigated by currently acceptable research methods, nor have appropriate instruments and techniques to carry out such investigation been available. The purpose of this research was to study the effect of CVM exercise on sexual function, and of measuring CVM function after CVM exercises. The research tools used were a modified Derogates Sexual Function Inventory questionnaire and a pressure sensitive intravaginal balloon device. This research was conducted in Kwangju-city and Chonnam province, Korea from July, 1994 to July, 1995. The research used a non-equivalent control pre-post test quasi-experimental design. Forty-five healthy married female volunteers, aged 30-58, and were randomly assigned by age using the matching fixed-length blocks to two groups. The experimental group consisted of 21 women who were assigned a 25-minute per day CVM home exercise program for six weeks. The control group of 24 women did not do the CVM home exercises. The CVM home exercise was developed by Dougherty(1989a) and adopted to Korea by Lee (1993). Data were analyzed by $x^{2-}$test, Paired t-test, Spearman product-moment correlation using SAS /P $C^+. The results are summarized as follows : 1. There were no significant differences in the characteristics of the subjects between the experimental and control groups before the CVM home exercises. 2. Hypothesis 1 that married women who participated in CVM home exercises would have higher mean scores on the sexual function(SF) than in those who did not participate in home exercise was supported. 3. Hypothesis 2 that married women who participated in CVM home exercises would have higher vaginal pressure on SF than in those who did not participate in home exercises was supported (mean maximum pressure, t=-7.338, P<.0001, peak maximum pressure, t=-11.164, P<.0001). 4. Hypothesis 3 that the more often(number of days) and the more frequent (numbers of time per day) that married women do CVM home exercise, the higher their mean scores on SF and vaginal pressures was supported(r=0.233, P<.01 ; r=0.352, P<.05). A six week CVM home exercise program using a tape recording showed that SF can be improved. Results of this study showed that married women who exercise on a regular basis for six weeks improve their sexual function and increase the mean vaginal pressure and peak maximum pressure (tested by electronic monitor). In conclusion, CVM exercise is effective in increasing SF.SF.
