Radiated Noise of Helical Gear-plate System (헬리컬기어-플레이트 시스템의 방사소음)

  • This work analytically investigated the radiated noise of a helical gear-housing system due to the excitation of helical gears. The helical gears were modeled as a 12-degree of freedom mass-spring-damper system; the shaft was modeled as a rod, a beam, and a torsional shaft; and the gear housing was modeled as a clamped circular plate with viscous damping. The modeling of this system used transfer matrices for helical gears, shafts, and bearings. Damping for both the bearings and the plate were obtained by modal testing. For the evaluation of noise, sound pressure from the plate due to the force and the moment in both radial and tangential directions was analytically derived by the Rayleigh integral. The analytical derivation and parameters from the experiment were applied to an analysis of noise for the two sets of helical gears with differing gear ratios. The analysis showed that the moment excitation in both helical gears contributed more to the noise of the plate than axial force excitation.

  • A large AC generator is an important component of the power system. It is a need for research of AC generator protection relay for the next-generation ECMS and an efficient operation of protection control system. However, most of protection and control systems used in power plants have been still imported as turn-key and operated in domestic. This may cause the lack of the correct understanding on the protection systems and methods, and thus have difficulties in optimal operation. In this paper, over-excitation protection relaying is one of the protective factors in generator protection IED was presented. The cause and protection principles were dealt and, DFT-based gain compensation algorithm was adopted for the frequency measurement. The Republic of Korea 345kV modeling data by EMTP-RV was used for performance evaluation.

  • We propose a neuron model that has the interactions between excitation and inhibition. By adopting the knowledge of the physiology, the neuron model by imitating structure of a neuron, has the system resemble a neuron. We considered a neuron system based on the arguments, and wished to examine whether the system had reasonable function Koch, Poggio and Torre believed that inhibition signal would shunt excitation signal on the dendrites. They believed that excitation signal operated input signals and inhibition did as delayed ones. Thus, they were sure that function for directional selectivity was arisen by the shunting.   • Nonlinear dynamic system under random excitation was analyzed by using stochastic method. A linearization method was used in order to linearize non-linear structural characteristics but the parametric excitation was used as it was given. An equivalent energy method which equalizes the expectation value of energy of the original nonlinear system and that of quasi-linearized system was proposed. Ito's differential rule was applied to obtain steady state moments. Quasi-linearization coefficients can be obtained the iterative calculation of linearization scheme and steady state moments. Monte Carlo simulation was used to verify the results of the proposed method. Nonlinear vibration of a slender beam was analyzed in this research. The analysis results were compared with Monte Carlo simulation result and showed good agreement. As the spectral density of the given excitation increased, the analysis results showed the better agreement with Monte Carlo simulation.

  • A new improved excitation control system for power plant synchronous generators has been developed by KEPRI(Korea Electric Power Research Institute). In this paper a description of the developed control system with detailed design concept is given. Field tests are conducted to show the system performance and to obtain the model parameters. Based on the measurement approached by field tests excitation model parameters supposing a mathmatical model is given can be determinded. This paper also proposes a algorithm of parameter estimation and identification in the synchronous Generator Excitation Control System.

  • An automatic excitation characteristics measurement system for the protective relaying current transformer(CT) with accuracy of about 1 % has been developed. The system can be used up to 2 kV and 10 A at power frequency. The developed system can calculate the voltage and current at knee points of $30^{\circ}$ and $45^{\circ}$ tangents in accordance with IEEE standard by the interpolation in log scale. The excitation curve of the CT is plotted in auto-scale simultaneously with measuring rms voltage and current at the secondary of the CT.

  • Many power plants in the thermal and hydraulic utilities, the pulp and the paper industry are faced with high maintenance and down time due to the aged excitation system. For the life extension of the aged power plants, the static excitation system with SCPT type had been developed by KEPRI(Korea Electric Power Research Institute) This paper will discuss the design conception and the application results of system which includes the phase controlled rectifiers of the shunt type, SCPT and redundant analog controller.

  • This paper discusses the control of generator field using dual IGBT PWM regeneration method to target brushless synchronous generator. If one of PWM bridges happens to fault, it transfers automatically and can be in charge of full load. Also it has an advantage of the operation which UPS connected in parallel with PWM bridge can supply power to excitation system in condition of main power loss. This PWM system supplies field current to generator in one quadrature operation, regenerates field coil energy to main power supplier in four quadrature operation. We designed, manufactured and applied the first trial product at J-power plant.

Analysis of Torsional Excitation Force of the Vehicle Driveline (차량 동력 전달계의 비틀림 가진력 해석)

  • Torque fluctuation of an engine and angular velocity variation of a propeller shaft are the main excitation sources in the vehicle driveline. This paper presents brief mechanism of these excitation sources. Equivalent models of these systems are construced to simulate the excitation source. The computer simulation was carried out by ARLA Simul v 6.7 and ARLA-Simstat v 2.3. Results of the simulations show the characteristics of torsional excitation source of the driveline. Experimental setups for engine system and propeller shaft system are constructed with component of the vehicle. Torque fluctuation of the flywheel and angular velocity of the propeller shaft were measured from this experimental setups. Experimental results are compared with simulation results. The results from experimental analysis agree with those from theoretical results.

  • Experimental study in laminar propane coflow jet flames has been conducted to investigate self-excitations. For various propane mole fractions and jet velocities, two types of self-excitation were observed: (1) buoyancydriven self-excitation (hereafter called BDSE) and (2) Lewis-number-induced self-excitation coupled with (1) (hereafter called LCB). The mechanism of Lewis-number-induced self-excitation (hereafter called LISE) is proposed. When the system $Damk\ddot{o}hler$ number was lowered, LISE was shown to be launched. The LISE is closely related to heat loss, such that it can be launched in even helium-diluted methane coflow-jet flame (Lewis number less than unity). Particularly, The LISE becomes significant as the $Damk\ddot{o}hler$ number decreases and heat-loss is excessively large.
