  • In this paper, we consider the problem of testing for parameter change in time series models based on a cusum of squares. Although the test procedure is well-established for the mean and variance in time series models, a general parameter case was not discussed in literatures. Therefore, here we develop the cusum of squares type test for parameter change in a more general framework. As an example, we consider the change of the parameters in an RCA(1) model. Simulation results are reported for illustration.

  • The flow analysis was made by applying the turbulent models in the scroll volume of centrifugal compressor. The $k-{\varepsilon}.\;k-{\omega}$, Spalart-Allmaras and reynolds stress models are used in which the hybrid grid is applied for the simulation. The velocity vector the Pressure contour. the change of residual along the iteration number. and the dynamic head are simulated by solving the Navier-Stokes equations for the comparison of four example cases.

  • In this paper, we study the timing and equipment of replacement. Those affect both available possibility and technological levels of new equipments in the future. These problems are classified according to technological levels and in consequence generated four circumstance. Models are formulated in this research. These are able to make us decision which we replace equipment at the first time. A method is suggested to find the optimal age for replacement at given each circumstance. A solution procedure and numerical example are given.

  • Reaching fault tolerance in technological systems requires to detect malfunctions. This paper presents a diagnostic method that is robust with respect to unknown-but-bounded uncertainties of the dynamical model and the measurements. By using models of the faultless and the faulty behaviours, a state-set observer computes polyhedral sets from which the consistency of the models with the interval measurements is determined. The diagnostic result is proven to be complete, i.e., the set of faults obtained by the diagnostic algorithm includes the actual fault. The algorithm is illustrated by an application example.

  • We have developed a new model selection criteria, the partial intrinsic Bayes factor, which is designed for cases when we select a model among a small number of candidate models. For example, we can choose only a few candidate models after exploring scatter plots. By simulation study, we have showed that PIBF performs better than AIC, BIC and GCV.

  • This article addresses aspects of combining information, with special attention to meta-analysis. In specific, we consider hierarchical Bayesian models for meta-analysis under priors which are scale mixtures of normal, and thus have tail heavier than that of the normal. Numerical methods of finding Bayes estimators under these heavy tailed prior are given, and are illustrated with an actual example.

  • In this paper, we study the local influence analysis of LIU type estimator in the linear mixed models. Using the method proposed by Shi (1997), the local influence of LIU type estimator in three disturbance models are investigated respectively. Furthermore, we give the generalized Cook's distance to assess the influence, and illustrate the efficiency of the proposed method by example.

  • The ultimate capacity of end-plate connection is investigated through nonlinear finite element analysis. The example models are divided into stiffened case and unstiffened one. The refined finite element models are analyzed by utilizing a general purpose structural analysis computer program ADINA and the moment-rotation relationships of the connection are determined. The results are compared with the regression equation deduced by Krishnamurthy. It is planned to deduce a bilinear regression equation through a parametric study on various dimensions of the connection.

  • We explore the structure and usefulness of the 3-D residual plot as a basic tool for dealing with interaction in generalized linear models. If predictors have an interaction effect, the shape obtained by rotating the 3-D residual plot will show its presence. To illustrate the use of this plot as an aid to exploring the interaction, we present an example of a binomial regression model using simulated data.

  • This paper presents a controller design technique for standard 2nd-order system satisfying user-specified phase margin. A simple method is presented to meet stability margin for the 2nd-order system, which is important since the 2nd-order plant models are frequently encountered in the practical plant models such as actuators of the optical drive systems. Through the comparison of the specified stability margin and achieved stability margin, it is shown in the simple example that the proposed technique is useful in the initial design of control systems with stability margin specifications.
