  • While the impact or internet on our everyday life keeps increasing, the internet users are turning toward the value added information only that suits their purpose instead of just wandering over a sea (pool) or information. Although it is easy to locate the information using various search engines. we still finds it time and cost consuming to update the existing information or to add similar Information. There are several portal sites managed by each industrial types or associations/organizations for the purpose or strengthening the competitiveness or small and medium-sized enterprises And currently, tremendous manpower and expenses are put into the selection and quality improvement or information to satisfy the needs toward the high qualify information by the specialized users in their fields collection and updating or the information is partially available manually during He period or budget allocation by the government it becomes problematic, however, to continue this service when the project expires. This report presents the system for the information collection, analysis and classification of portal sites operated for the special purposes and automatic upload to the proper sites. In addition. expression or web robots and application of robots and several information types are suggested which will eventually accomplish currency or information and automatic updates and addition or documents with the least expenses or maintenance.

Effects of Korean College Students' Contacts with International Students on Multicultural Competencies: Mediating Effects of Life Satisfaction and Realistic Conflict Perception (한국인 대학생의 외국인 유학생과의 접촉이 다문화 역량에 미치는 영향: 삶의 만족도와 현실갈등인식의 매개효과)

  • This study investigated effects of Korean students' contacts with International students on Korean college students' multicultural competencies. This study also examined mediating effects of life satisfaction and realistic conflict perception between contacts with international students and multicultural competencies. For the purpose, 384 Korean college students completed the questionnaires including contacts, life satisfaction, realistic conflicts perception toward international students, everyday multicultural competencies, and demographic information. The results indicate that number of contacts predicts cultural self-efficacy and cultural knowledge, whereas contact diversity predicts cultural openness. Life Satisfaction predicts cultural openness, cultural self-efficacy, and cultural knowledge, and realistic conflicts perception predicts all subscales of everyday multicultural competencies scale other than cultural knowledge. Results also discovered that life satisfaction mediates the relationship between contact diversity and multicultural competencies, but realistic conflict perception did not mediate between contact diversity and multicultural competencies. Based on the results, the suggestions to enhance college students' multicultural competencies were discussed.

  • This study investigates the information use behavior of Korean youths in a virtual information grounds. The concept of a physical information ground is expanded to include virtual spaces. A variety of hobbies and peer groups of Korean youths are considered to determine the characteristics of these youths. The study was formulated and conducted using group interviews for pretest and a survey given to respondents who are junior high and high school students in Seoul. It is expected that the findings and proposals will be used for planning educational programs and information services in school libraries.

  • This study is aimed at developing a broadcast content creators' information behavior model through analysis of the process of information use including an integrated perspective such as cognitive, emotional and environmental aspects. Broadcast content creators have a common cognitive process and pools of information exchange and integration. In order to have emotional empathy with the general public they search and use the news and human and everyday life information seeking (ELIS). The most important thing is the context of social norms and culture in the broadcasting community and information about judgment is subjective and empirical.

Causal Relationship Between Information Perception and Preventive Behaviors of COVID-19 Among Working Age People in Bangkok and Metropolitan Area, Thailand

  • This study aims to examine the causal relationship between information perception and preventive behaviors regarding COVID-19 among working-age people in Bangkok and the metropolitan area of Thailand. The study investigated how information exposure, interpretation, and retention influence hygiene practices, virus spread prevention, health maintenance, and digital lifestyle adaptations among working-age individuals. Employing quantitative research methods, the sample group consisted of 421 working-age people in Bangkok and the metropolitan area. Data collection was conducted using a questionnaire. Analysis involved descriptive statistics, confirmatory factor analysis, and structural equation modeling. The results showed that the measurement model was well fitted to the empirical data. The findings reveal a significant correlation between information perception and the implementation of preventive measures among the working-age population in Bangkok, highlighting the pivotal role of accurate and effective information dissemination in influencing public behavior, especially now that COVID-19 has become a more manageable aspect of everyday life.

  • This study explored the concept of context-aware computing and its application to the library and information services. Context-aware computing represents mobile computing techniques which gather, analyze user's contextual information and provide appropriate information services for the specific user. The idea was proposed in the late 90's but it was not widely available to the public because of the technology limitation. Recent technology development made context-aware computing possible to apply to our everyday-life information seeking using smart phone and showed the usefulness of its application. This study introduced the concept of context-aware computing with some examples of it, and finally tried to propose some of its applications to the library and information services.

  • As elderly population increases their use of public libraries also increases, and thus, public library services for older people need to be more developed. The information needs of older population are mostly related to the everyday life, such as health, medical care, social welfare, the main services of public library community information services or information and referral services. Through a literature review, foreign case studies, homepage surveys, site surveys, this study explores types and content of community information for elderly people, and suggests, ways of enhancing community information services for elderly people.

  • As baby boomer generations become older, these "New-age elderly" have emerged as an important consumer segment for apparel products. These young-minded elderly have positive attitudes to technology and enjoy many of high technology tool in their everyday life, which signals a huge market potential for internet apparel retailing targeting these elderly consumers. Internet apparel businesses are required to provide various consumer information to its consumers to facilitate the decision making process. For elderly consumers, who might have different shopping behaviors from the younger consumer segments, different kinds of information with higher quality would be required. As a preliminary step to develop internet consumer information model for elderly consumers, this study seeks to investigate the current practice of information offerings of internet apparel businesses for elderly consumers. Ten internet sites carrying apparel products for elderly consumers were selected and analyzed their offerings of consumer information by five researchers. This study found that internet apparel businesses targeting elderly consumers were still small-sized and lack of sophisticated technology to support these elderly consumers. Most web sites provided basic product information and service information but not fashion and trend related information. Managerial implications were discussed.

  • In recent days North Korean refugees. who hope to move into and settle in South Korea, have been rapidly increasing. However their adaptation to South Korea is reported to have not been so much successful as they expected. Considering such situations, this study attempts to investigate their information needs and behavior. North Korean refugees have various and strong information needs for settlement and daily life. The strongest were information needs related to economic Problem, specifically job and business related information needs. It was followed by information needs related to social welfare, health and security child care and education, and North Korean situation In order to meet their information needs. North Korean refugees were heavily dependent on informal interpersonal information sources such as their family members. friends. and their own neighborhoods. as compared to such formal interpersonal information sources as Public officers. social welfare agents, and NGOs members. Meanwhile. their usage of mass media such as TV. newspapers, and internet as information sources was also heavy However the overall information environment surrounding them appeared to be relatively inferior to that of average South Koreans.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine how recently fashion brands tried to design Facebook contents for their promotion strategies, and how to encourage customer's empathy and participation for communication content. For this study, 17 domestic and foreign fashion brand facebook contents were analyzed. The results of the study were as follows. First, fashion brands provided product information through various methods such as the Facebook fan styling pictures contest which attracted voluntary participation from fans, an emotional product introduction video with effective storytelling techniques, and pictures and videos of a new season collection that were always viewable and able to be evaluated. Secondly, Facebook contents of brand promotion that contributed to the brand image and loyalty formation were identified. Fashion brands encouraged their fans to be involved in socially-oriented marketing and brand community. Moreover, telling the story of the brand history and brand management enhanced brand involvement of fans. Finally, fashion brands communicated actively with their fans providing information that aroused their interest. They gave tips on how to improve the quality of life, provided useful applications that offered various benefits in everyday life. Based on this result, implications of Facebook contents management as a promotion strategy were further discussed.
