Essential Role for c-jun N-terminal Kinase on tPA-induced Matrix Metalloproteinase-9 Regulation in Rat Astrocytes

  • Tissue plasminogen activator (tPA) is used to lyse clots and reperfuse brain in ischemic stroke. However, sideeffects of intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) and edema limit their clinical application. In part, these phenomena has been linked with elevations in matrix metalloproteinase-9 (MMP-9) in neurovascular unit. However little is known about their regulatory signaling pathways in brain cells. Here, I examine the role of MAP kinase pathways in tPA-induced MMP-9 regulation in rat cortical astrocytes. tPA $(1-10\;{\mu}g/ml)$ induced dose-dependent elevations in MMP-9 and MMP-2 in conditioned media. Although tPA increased phosphorylation in two MAP kinases (ERK, JNK), only inhibition of the JNK pathway by the JNK inhibitor SP600126 significantly reduced MMP-9 upregulation. Neither ERK inhibition with U0126 nor p38 inhibition with SB203580 had any significant effects. Taken together, these results suggest that c-jun N-terminal kinase (JNK) plays an essential role for tPA-induced MMP-9 upregulation.

  • Digital road map - which plays an essential role in giving accurate location of the vehicle, optimum route guidance, destination searching, and topographic feature query functions - is the most fundamental element of the vehicle navigation system. Unfortunately, there is not a nation-wide digital map in Korea such as U.S. TIGER fie, that is easily applied to digital road database production. Therefore, producing new digital road map is inevitable in Korea For establishing digital road map for vehicle navigation, this paper puts forth the necessary condition to stabilize the digital road map qualify, and to keep up the compatibility and the economical use. As a result, the standards of coordinate and map accuracy arc presented, and the Items and the structures of database arc decided.

Localization Using 3D-Lidar Based Road Reflectivity Map and IPM Image (3D-Lidar 기반 도로 반사도 지도와 IPM 영상을 이용한 위치추정)

  • Position of the vehicle for driving is essential to autonomous navigation. However, there appears GPS position error due to multipath which is occurred by tall buildings in downtown area. In this paper, GPS position error is corrected by using camera sensor and highly accurate map made with 3D-Lidar. Input image through inverse perspective mapping is converted into top-view image, and it works out map matching with the map which has intensity of 3D-Lidar. Performance comparison was conducted between this method and traditional way which does map matching with input image after conversion of map to pinhole camera image. As a result, longitudinal error declined 49% and complexity declined 90%.

  • Because the current numerical value map and update system in use do not reflect rapidly enough the transformation of topography, their usage are gradually in decrease. Therefore, there is an increasing demand for reception update system of numerical value map which can guarantee the accuracy and up-to-dateness of data. While rapid detection of topographical transformation is essential for rapid updating, the existing research based on remote investigation or direct measurement was difficult to apply efficiently in terms of cost and accuracy. Thereupon, this research aims to present efficient methods of detecting topographical transformations for a frequent real time updating of numerical value map using the topographical transformation and related data inputted in real time into the administrative information system.

  • A reliable analysis of consumer preference from a large amount of purchase data acquired in real time and an accurate customer characterization technique are essential for successful direct marketing campaigns. In this study, an optimal segmentation of post office customers in Korea is performed using a subspace projection-based clustering method to generate an accurate customer characterization from a high-dimensional census dataset. Moreover, a traditional temporal mining method is extended to an algorithm using the MapReduce framework for a consumer preference analysis. The experimental results show that it is possible to use parallel mining through a MapReduce-based algorithm and that the execution time of the algorithm is faster than that of a traditional method.

  • 3D technology is main factor in Augmented Reality. Depth map is essential to make cubic effect using 2d image. There are a lot of ways to construct Depth map. Among them, stereo matching is mainly used. This paper presents how to generate depth map using stereo matching. For stereo matching, existing Dynamic programming method is used. To make accurate stereo matching, High-Boost Filter is applied to preprocessing method. As a result, when depth map is generated, accuracy based on Ground Truth soared.

  • Network systems are of fundamental importance in programmable device in industrial automation, as they essential in order to active group management of integration and coordination. In this papers,MMS implemented on the basis ISO specification for industrial environment. In the MMS-MAP, MMS is situated in the application layer and on the datalink layer. This implemented software was operated with network interface unit which was designed in group objects and service primitives for group management network model system. This function of designed module showed possibility of operation through group state diagram transition in the Mini-MAP environment.

  • An orienteering is a sport that play with a map, a compass and a point map. However, it is difficult to measure the number of steps and the play time accurately. In this paper, we develop the Orienteering application to integrate the essential function for the orienteering sport. since the integrated UI display the map, the compass and the number of step at the same time, it is easy for an user to watch the progress of the orienteering and improve the accuracy by measuring the steps and the play time.

  • A map is bisingular if each edge is either a loop or an isthmus (i.e., on the boundary of the same face). In this paper we study the number of rooted bisingular maps on the sphere and the torus, and we also present formula for such maps with four parameters: the root-valency, the number of isthmus, the number of planar loops and the number of essential loops.

  • Nowadays, as a result of increasing income and spare time, the social demands for better living environment become more increasing. Above all, landscape improvement, the essential part of physical environment, will be a more important subject in urban planning. In these circumstances, classification of urban scenic quality is required for urban landscape development programs. The major purpose of this study is to suggest a technical method of designing urban scenic quality map for urban district area based on the scenery management system of the USDA forest service and literature studies. As a conclusion of this study, four steps are desirable for the technical method for designing a scenic quality map of urban districts areas : 1) Define a landscape unit on the map, 2) Take a photograph of these landscape unit on site, 3) Evaluate the landscape unit by semantic differential scale with landscape adjectives, and 4) Draw the scenic quality map, investigate the landscape characteristics and suggest the landscape scenic development plans.
