  • Underwater acoustic(UWA) communication has multipath error because of reflection by sea-level and sea-bottom. The multipath of UWA channel causes signal distortion and error floor. In this paper, we proposed the compensation method of multipath effect using the impulse response of the UWA channel and then analysis the performance of channel coding such as LDPC code, concatenate code. Also we analysed the time-delay errors and estimated amplitude errors of estimated channel information and its affection on the performance. As shown in simulation results, the performance of proposed compensation method is better than the performance of conventional method.

  • In this paper, Multistage Adaptive Partial PIC eliminating effectively the multiple access and multipath interference for DS-CDMA based W-CDMA uplink system is designed and its performance is evaluated with computer simulation. By adaptively controlling the slope of the soft limiter with received signals, the efficiency of the soft limiter can be maximized and the better performance is obtained by solving error floor problem using further precise generation of interference signal. As a result, The proposed Multistage Adaptive Partial PIC with simple optimizing method for time-variant channel showed optimum performance at fewer stages. Besides fewer stages, the interference cancellation at the output of the rake receiver considerably reduced system complexity. The Multistage Adaptive Partial PIC with precise generation and efficient cancellation of interference signal can solve error eoor problem, resulted from initial false detection and improve system performance of high data rate system.

  • The information of ocean topology is the fundamental source which is necessary for understanding the ocean, producing nautical charts and delimiting maritime boundaries. An echo sounder is being used generally to collect undersea bathymetric data, but an indirect method such as geophysical data acquired by satellites is being used recently. In this study, the outputs of ocean surveying for the production of the Basic Maps of the Sea in 1996 and 1997 in the East Sea and the bathymetric data produced by geophysical data are compared and analyzed. The study areas are Ulleung Plateau, Ulleung Basin and the southern area of Ulleung Basin which have different geophysical characteristics. Through this study, we found that the bathymetric data acquired by an indirect method using satellite is similar to the field surveying results in general configuration of ocean floor and average depth. However, the minimum square error is about 100m in 1700m depth, and it has been observed a local error up to 1000m. In addition, it has been found that the detailed undulation of ocean topology is shown on the gravity data which is acquired by the research vessel.

  • Underwater acoustic communication has multipath error because of reflection by sea-level and sea-bottom. The multipath of underwater channel causes signal distortion and error floor. In order to improve the performance, it is necessary to employ an iterative coding scheme. Among the iterative coding scheme, turbo codes, LDPC codes and convolutional code based on BCJR algorithm are dominant channel coding schemes in recent. Therefore this paper analyzed the performance of iterative codes based on turbo equalizer with the same coding rate and similar codeword length. The performances of three kinds of iterative codes were evaluated in the environment of underwater acoustic communication channel that are real data collected in Korean east sea. The distance of transmitter and receiver was 5Km and data rate was 1Kbps. As a result, convolutional code based on BCJR algorithm has better performance in underwater channel than turbo codes and LDPC codes.

  • This paper presents the efficient localization of a mobile robot traveling on the floor with tags installed, using the spatial and temporal information acquired from passive RFID environment. Compared to previous research, the proposed localization method can reduce the position estimation error and also cut down the initial cost tag installation cost. Basically, it is assumed that a mobile robot is traveling over a series of straight line segments, each at a certain constant velocity, and that the number of tags sensed by a mobile robot at each sampling instant is at most one. First, the velocity and position estimation of a mobile robot starting from a known position, which is valid for all segments except the first one. Second, for the first segment in which the starting position is unknown, the velocity and position estimation is made possible by enforcing a mobile robot to traverse at least two tags at a constant velocity with the steering angle unchanged. Third, through experiments using our passive RFID localization system, the validity and performance of the mobile robot localization proposed in this paper is demonstrated.

  • As we know that there are so many restrictions controlling the autonomous robot to turn and move in an indoor space. In this research, Ive adopted the concept ‘Omni-directional wheel’ as a driving equipment, which makes it possible for the robot to move in horizontal and diagonal directions. Most of all, we eliminated the slip error problem, which can occur when the system generates power by means of slip. In order to solve this problem, we developed a ‘slip error correction algorithm’. Following this program, whenever the robot moves in any directions, it defines its course by comparing pre-programmed direction and the current moving way, which can be decided by extracted image of floor line. Additionally, this robot also provides the limited security and service function. It detects the motion of vehicle, transmits pictures to multiple users and can be moved by simple order's. In this paper, we tried to propose a practical model which can be used in an office.

  • Anssolim is the unique technique which standing columns lean in a inward direction of buildings in traditional architecture, which has not been thoroughly investigated to this day. With a dearth of previous studies, the anssolim technique can only be examined through detailed three-dimensional surveys. The main halls of Korean palaces can be seen as buildings that were built with the regulations of the day in mind, making them excellent research subjects when studying the anssolim technique. The findings can be summarized as follows. 1. In the main halls that were studied, anssolim was applied most to main space (eokan) columns, then lessened for peripheral columns. 2. The largest second-floor cheoma columns were placed inward in the eokan, then became smaller as with the peripheral columns. In the case of the eokan, the columns were arranged according to the size of the anssolim. 3. The second-floor cheoma column anssolim in the middle-floor main hall were generally a third or a quarter of the size of those on the first floor. As on the first floor, the largest anssolim were applied to the eokan columns, then became gradually smaller towards the periphery columns. 4. In the palace main halls, the largest anssolim were used for the eokan columns, and became smaller with the peripheral columns. This unique structure can be seen to be a Korean technique that deviates from the Chinese "Yingzaofashi(營造法式)" techniques. Although this study is limited in that it only studies the main hall of Korean palaces, it is significant in that it shed new light on the technological implications of the anssolim technique, and can be used as important data for research into the history of technology. Although this type of data is difficult to extrapolate, it has been made as accurate as possible by minimizing the margin of error in the data for the palaces that were actually studied.

  • Finite element analysis of concrete slab system in apartment building was executed using the tables of orthogonal arrays, and optimal design process was proposed. At first, experimental results show that sound peak components to influence the overall level and the rating of floor impact sound insulation were coincident with natural frequencies of the reinforced concrete slab. Finite element model of concrete slab was compared with experimental results, and well corresponded with an error of less than 10%. The tables of orthogonal arrays were used for finite element analysis with 8 factors. 3 related to material properties and 5 related to slab shape parameters and its results were analyzed by statistical method, ANOVA. The most effective factor among them was slab thickness, and main effect factor from slab shape parameters was different from each natural frequency. The interaction was found in the higher mode over $3^{rd}$ natural frequency. From main effect plot and interaction plot, the optimal design factor to increase the natural frequency was determined.

  • This paper presents the steering control algorithm of an up and down motion robot using a quaternion. The up and down motion robot is to be moved on an irregular floor that can inevitably result in the errors of both position and orientation. Especially the orientation error should be compensated every work in order to adjust the misaligned values of current orientation to those commanded values. In this paper, we propose a new steering control algorithm between the two values by using a quaternion with spherical cubic interpolation. The proposed algorithm is shown to be effective in terms of vibration when compared to a conventional simple compensation without interpolation, by using $MATLAB^{(R)}$ and $VisualNastran4D^{(R)}$
