  • In this paper, we propose a new type of nonlinear fixed interval smoothing filter which is modified from the existing nonlinear smoothing filter. A nonlinear smoothing filter is derived from two-filter formulas. For the backward filter, the propagation and update equation of error states are derived. Particularly the modified update equation of the backward filter use the estimated error terms from the forward filter. Smoothing algorithm is altered into the compatible form with the new type of the backward fitter. An advantage of the proposed algorithm is more efficient than the existing one because propagation in backward filter is very simple from the implementation point of view. We apply the proposed nonlinear smoothing ...

  • The error diffusion algorithm is good for reproducing continuous image to binary image. However the reproduction of edge characteristic is weak in power spectrum analysts of display error. In this paper, an error diffusion method which include pre-filter algorithm for edge characteristic enhancement is proposed Pre-filter algorithm is organized horizontal and vertical directional differential value and weighting function of pre-filter First, it is obtained the horizontal and vertical differential value from the peripheral pixels in original image using $3{\times}3$ Sobel operator Secondly weighting function of pre-filter is composed by function including absolute value and sign of differential value The improved Error diffusion algorithm using pre-filter, present a good result visually which edge characteristic is enhanced. The difference between orignal image and halftoning image is compared with edge-enhanced error diffusion algorithm by measuring the radially averaged power spectrum density.

  • In this Part II of the paper, we evaluated the fabrication error and dividing characteristics for the opticalfilters proposed in the Part I. Furthermore, we propose an integrated optical filter with a new function that can eliminate the fabdrication error. The fabrication method and filtering characteristics have been tested by experiments, thereby confirming the validity of the design theory.

  • In this paper, we propose the localization method on WSN(Wireless Sensor Network) using fuzzy model and Kalman filter. The proposed method is as follows: First, we estimate the distance of RSSI(Receive Signal Strength Index) by using fuzzy model in order to minimize the distance error. Second, we use a triangulation measurement for estimating the localization. And then, we minimize the localization error using a Kalman filter. Finally, we show the effectiveness and feasibility of the proposed method through some experiments.

  • This paper proposes a compensation algorithm for reducing a specific ripple component on synchronous reference frame phase locked loop (SRF-PLL) in grid-tied single-phase inverters. In general, SRF-PLL, which is based on all-pass filter to generate virtual voltage, is widely used to estimate the grid phase angle in a single-phase system. In reality, the estimated grid phase angle might be distorted because the phase difference between actual and virtual voltages is not 90 degrees. That is, the phase error is caused by the difference between cut-off frequency of all-pass filter and grid frequency under grid frequency variation. Therefore, the effects on phase angle and output current attributed to the phase error are mathematically analyzed in this paper. In addition, the proportional resonant (PR) controller is adapted to reduce the effects of phase error. The validity of the proposed algorithm is verified through several simulations and experiments.

  • The estimation of time-series data is fundamental process in many data analysis cases. However, the unwanted measurement error is usually added to true data, so that the exact estimation depends on efficient method to eliminate the error components. The wavelet transform method nowadays is expected to improve the accuracy of estimation, because it is able to decompose and analyze the data in various resolutions. Therefore, the wavelet based Kalman filter method for the estimation of time-series data is proposed in this paper. The wavelet transform separates the data in accordance with frequency bandwidth, and the detail wavelet coefficient reflects the stochastic process of error components. This property makes it possible to obtain the covariance of measurement error. We attempt the estimation of true data through recursive Kalman filtering algorithm with the obtained covariance value. The procedure is verified with the fundamental example of Brownian walk process.

  • This paper presents a novel scalar adaptive filter, which is reformulated by additional acceleration term. The filter continuously estimates three different kinds of covariance such as the measurement noise covariance, the velocity error covariance and the acceleration error covariance. For estimating three covariances, we use the innovation method for the measurement noise covariance and the least square method for other covariances. In order to verify the proposed filter performance compared with the conventional scalar adaptive filter, we make indoor experimental environment similar to outdoor test using the ultrasonic sensors instead of GPS. Experimental results show that the proposed filter has better position accuracy than the traditional scalar adaptive filter.

  • Impulsive noise appears as black and/or white spots in an image. It is usually caused by errors during the image acquisition or transmission through communication channels. This paper presents a study on the impulsive noise reduction filter of digital image. A much more effective method for removing impulse noise is weighted median filtering. But it loses some information by changing center value with no condition. We propose some new technique to change center value with some conditions. In this paper, the performance of conditional weighted median filter is compared to the commonly used median filter, mean filter, max/min filter, and weighted median filter. A quantitative comparison is performed on MSE (Mean Square Error), RMSE (Root Mean Square Error), and SNR (Signal to Noise Ratio). Proposed conditional weighted median filter can yield better performance than regular filters.

  • In power quality monitoring, it is very important to detect disturbances (sag, swell, transient, and interruption) accurately. In this paper, a detection method for power quality disturbances by combining the filter bank system and adaptive filter is proposed. To decompose power signal, binary tree structured filter bank system is designed. In the filter bank system, the fundamental filter bank(QMF bank) is used as a module in each decomposing level. An adaptive filter is used to improve the detection accuracy of disturbances for each subband signal. In the adaptive filter, the measure of estimated error change is used to detect singular points of power quality disturbances. Computer simulations were performed on synthetic signals which have disturbances to assess the performance of the proposed method.

  • To extract relative ranges from LOS(line of sight) information, we propose a passive ranging filter which is suitable for anti-ship missiles in HOJ(home on jam) mode. The proposed filter is devised to cope with the case that a passive ranging filter may include a large initial range estimation error since modem jammers are capable of very long range jamming. In addition, under the assumption that the missile motion is dominant over the HOJ engagement situation, the engagement geometry is modeled by a second order system. A new passive ranging filter is proposed by constructing an extended Kalman filter(EKF) based on the model. And then a least square initial state error estimation algorithm is attached to the EKF. Simulation results show that the proposed filter has a good range estimation performance with small computational load.
