The unbalance between system ergodic sum rate and high fairness is one of the key issues affecting the performance of non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) system. To solve the problem, this paper proposes a power allocation algorithm to realize the ergodic sum rate maximization of NOMA system. The scheme is mainly achieved by the construction algorithm of fair model based on α fair utility function and the optimal solution algorithm based on the interior point method of penalty function. Aiming at the construction of fair model, the fair target is added to the traditional power allocation model to set the reasonable target function. Simultaneously, the problem of ergodic sum rate and fairness in power allocation is weighed by adjusting the value of α. Aiming at the optimal solution algorithm, the interior point method of penalty function is used to transform the fair objective function with unequal constraints into the unconstrained problem in the feasible domain. Then the optimal solution of the original constrained optimization problem is gradually approximated within the feasible domain. The simulation results show that, compared with NOMA and time division multiple address (TDMA) schemes, the proposed method has larger ergodic sum rate and lower Fairness Index (FI) values.

In this paper, the performance of non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) dual-hop (DH) amplify-and-forward (AF) relaying networks is investigated, where Nakagami-m fading channel is considered. In order to cover more details, in our analysis, the transceiver hardware impairments at source, relay and destination nodes are comprehensively considered. To characterize the effects of hardware impairments brought in NOMA DH AF relaying networks, the analytical closed-form expressions for the exact outage probability and approximate ergodic sum rate are derived. In addition, the asymptotic analysis of the outage probability and ergodic sum rate at high signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) regime are carried out in order to further reveal the insights of the parameters for hardware impairments on the network performance. Simulation results indicate the performance of asymptotic ergodic sum rate are limited by levels of distortion noise.

In this paper, we propose a cooperative hybrid spectrum sharing protocol by jointly considering interweave (opportunistic) and underlay schemes. In the proposed protocol, secondary users can access the licensed spectrum along with the primary system. Our network scenario comprises a single primary transmitter-receiver (PTx-PRx) pair and a group of M secondary transmitter-receiver (STx-SRx) pairs within the transmission range of the primary system. Secondary transmitters are divided into two groups: active and inactive. A secondary transmitter that gets an opportunity to access the secondary spectrum is called "active". One of the idle or inactive secondary transmitters that achieves the primary request target rate $R_{PT}$ will be selected as a best decode-and-forward (DF) relay (Re) to forward the primary information when the data rate of the direct link between PTx and PRx falls below $R_{PT}$. We investigate the ergodic capacity and outage probability of the primary system with cooperative relaying and outage probability of the secondary system. Our theoretical and simulation results show that both the primary and secondary systems are able to achieve performance improvement in terms of outage probability. It is also shown that ergodic capacity and outage probability improve when the active secondary transmitter is located farther away from the PRx.
In this paper, we present a performance analysis of large-scale multi-input multi-output (MIMO) systems for wireless backhaul networks. We focus on fully connected N nodes in a wireless meshed and multi-hop network topology. We also consider a large number of antennas at both the receiver and transmitter. We investigate the transmission schemes to support fully connected N nodes for half-duplex and full-duplex transmission, analyze the achievable ergodic sum rate among N nodes, and propose a closed-form expression of the achievable ergodic sum rate for each scheme. Furthermore, we present numerical evaluation results and compare the resuts with closed-form expressions.
A hybrid free-space-optical/radio-frequency (FSO/RF) communication system is considered, with the help of amplify-and-forward (AF) relaying. We consider various weather conditions to investigate their effects on the system's performance. We begin by obtaining the cumulative distribution function and probability density function of the end-to-end signal-to-noise ratio for the AF dual-hop FSO communication system with RF backup link. Then, these results are used to derive closed-form expressions for the outage probability, average bit-error rate, and average ergodic capacity. The results show that the considered system efficiently employs the complementary nature of FSO and RF links, resulting in impressive performance improvements compared to non-hybrid systems.

With the assistance of non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA), the spectrum efficiency and the number of users in cloud radio access network (CRAN) can be greatly improved. In this paper, the system performance of NOMA-assisted CRAN is investigated. Specially, the outage probability (OP) and ergodic sum rate (ESR), are derived for performance evaluation of the system, respectively. Based on this, by minimizing the OP of the system, a suboptimal power allocation (PA) scheme with closed-form PA coefficients is proposed. Numerical simulations validate the accuracy of the theoretical results, where the derived OP has more accuracy than the existing one. Moreover, the developed PA scheme has superior performance over the conventional fixed PA scheme but has smaller performance loss than the optimal PA scheme using the exhaustive search method.

Recent studies have revealed the efficacy of incorporating delayed channel state information at transmit side (CSIT) in transmission scheme design. This paper focuses on transmit precoder design to maximize the ergodic sum-rate in a two-user Multiple-Input Single-Output (MISO) system with delayed and statistical CSIT. A new transmit strategy which precodes signals in all transmit slots is proposed in this paper, denoted as all time-slots precoding Alternative MAT (AAMAT). There is a common procedure in conventional delayed-CSIT based schemes, which is retransmitting the overheard interferences. Since the retransmitting signal is intended to both users, all previous schemes tend to use only one antenna. We however figure out an improvement in spectral efficiency could be realized if all antennas can be utilized. In this paper, we detail the design of the procoder which enabling all antennas and also we compute a lower bound of the ergodic sum-rate in an ideal condition. In addition, simulation results demonstrate the superiority of our proposed scheme.
This paper investigates the effect of hardware impairments (HIs) and imperfect channel state information (ICSI) on a SWIPT-assisted adaptive nonorthogonal multiple access (NOMA)/orthogonal multiple access (OMA) system over independent and nonidentical Rayleigh fading channels. In the NOMA mode, the energy-constrained near users act as a relay to improve the performance for the far users. The OMA transmission mode is adopted to avoid a complete outage when NOMA is infeasible. The best user selection scheme is considered to maximize the energy harvested and avoid error propagation. To characterize the performance of the proposed systems, closed-form and asymptotic expressions of the outage probability for both near and far users are studied. Moreover, exact and approximate expressions of the ergodic rate for near and far users are investigated. Simulation results are provided to verify our theoretical analysis and confirm the superiority of the proposed NOMA/OMA scheme in comparison with the conventional NOMA and OMA protocol with/without HIs and ICSI.

Outdated Channel State Information (CSI) was proved to have negative effect on performance in two-way relay networks. The diversity order of widely used opportunistic relay selection (ORS) was degraded to unity in networks with outdated CSI. This paper proposed a multiple relay selection scheme for amplify-and-forward (AF) based two-way relay networks (TWRN) with outdated CSI. In this scheme, two sources exchange information through more than one relays. We firstly select N best relays out of all candidate relays with respect to signal-noise ratio (SNR). Then, the ratios of the SNRs on the rest of the candidate relays to that of the Nth highest SNR are tested against a normalized threshold ${\mu}{\in}[0,1]$, and only those relays passing this test are selected in addition to the N best relays. Expressions of outage probability, average bit error rate (BER) and ergodic channel capacity were obtained in closed-form for the proposed scheme. Numerical results and Simulations verified our theoretical analyses, and showed that the proposed scheme had significant gains comparing with conventional ORS.
