This paper presents a method of estimating the setting time of cement mortar incorporating recycled aggregate powder (RP) and cement kiln dust (CKD) at various curing temperatures by applying an equivalent age method. To estimate setting time, the equivalent age using apparent activation energy (Ea) was applied. Increasing RP and CKD leads to a shortened initial and final set. Ea at the initial set and final set obtained by Arrhenius function showed differences in response to mixture type. These were estimated to be from 10~19 KJ/mol in all mixtures, which is smaller than those of conventional mixture ranging from 30~50 KJ/mol. Based on the application of Ea to Freisleben Hansen and Pederson's equivalent age function, equivalent age is nearly constant, regardless of curing temperature and RP contents. This implies that the concept of maturity is applicable in estimating the setting time of concrete containing RP and CKD. A high correlation was observed between estimated setting time and measured setting time. A multiregression model was provided to determine setting time reflecting RP and CKD. Thus, the setting time estimation method studied herein can be applicable to concrete incorporating RP and CKD in the construction field.
The fatality rate is used to estimate each country's risk level. However, the fatality rate is calculated using the number of fatal accidents and workers, which is collected differently across countries. It is therefore problematic to use these numbers in an equivalent way. This study proposes a new approach for calculating the number of full-time equivalent workers when evaluating individual countries' fatality rate by suggesting an equivalent condition for the calculation of the number of full-time equivalent workers. This study proceeds in three steps: (i) analysis of the fatality rate among various countries; (ii) fatality rate calculation using the full-time equivalent workers; and (iii) comparison of the fatality rate among various countries. The study found that for the fatality rate based on national data, the fatality rate in South Korea (1.72‱) is 10 times higher than that in United Kingdom (0.17‱). However, according to the number of full-time equivalent workers, the fatality rate in South Korea (1.86‱) was three times higher than that in the United Kingdom (0.56‱). These findings reveal a difference in the fatality rate depending on the method used to calculate the number of full-time equivalent workers. Therefore, the number of full-time equivalent workers must be calculated for each country to accurately compare the fatality rate. Ultimately, the study's results highlight the need for clearer standards in the assessment of the fatality rate by country in international organizations such as the ILO.
To evaluate the seismic performance of multistory building structures use an equivalent SDOF model. This paper presents a method of converting a MDOF system into an equivalent SDOF model. The principal objective of this investigation is to evaluate appropriateness of converting method through perform nonlinear time history analysis of a multistory building structures and an equivalent SDOF model. The hysteresis rules to be used an equivalent SDOF model is obtained from the pushover analysis. The conclusion of this study is following; A method of converting a MDOF system into an equivalent SDOF model through the nonlinear time history response analysis is valid. The representative lateral displacement of a moment resisting reinforced concrete frames is close to the height of the first modal participation vector $_1$$\beta${$_1$u}=1. It can be found that the hysteresis rule of an equivalent SDOF model have influence on the time history response. Therefore, it is necessary for selecting hysteresis rules to consider hysteresis characteristics of a moment resisting reinforced concrete frames.
Equivalent-time sampling can improve measurement or sensing systems because it enables a broader frequency band and higher delay resolution for periodic signals with lower sampling rates than a Nyquist receiver. Meanwhile, a digital down-conversion (DDC) technique can be implemented using a straightforward radio frequency (RF) circuit. It avoids timing skew and in-phase/quadrature gain imbalance instead of requiring a high-speed analog-to-digital converter to sample an intermediate frequency (IF) signal. Therefore, when equivalent-time sampling and DDC techniques are combined, a significant synergy can be achieved. This study provides a parameter design methodology for optimal equivalent-time sampling using DDC.
For the real-time power system analysis, there exists a limitation to the scale of the system to be simulated, hence it is necessary for the real-time simulation to develop reduced equivalent systems which preserve the desired property of the original system. In this paper, a procedure for developing an equivalent system whose scale is reduced within the hardware capacity of a real-time simulator is proposed. Also, the proposed procedure is applied to a KEPCO's system. The comparison between the original system and equivalent systems illustrates the capabilities of the proposed procedure.
Comparison of the effective dose of the chest and the equivalent dose of the lens site in the radiation workers working at four medical institutions with the PET / CT room located in one metropolitan city and province from April 1 to June 30, 2018 Respectively. Radioactive medicine were measured at the time of dispensing and at the time of injection. In this experiment, the average dispensing time per patient was 5.7 minutes and the average injection time was 3.1 minutes. The equivalent dose at the lens site was $0.78{\mu}Sv/h$ for 1 mCi, and the effective dose for chest was $0.18{\mu}Sv/h$ per 1 mCi. The equivalent dose at the lens site during injection was $0.88{\mu}Sv/h$ per mCi and the effective dose of chest was $0.20{\mu}Sv/h$ per mCi. The daily effective dose of the chest was $0.9{\pm}0.6{\mu}Sv$ and the equivalent dose of the lens site was $3.6{\pm}1.4{\mu}Sv$ during daily dosing for 20 days. The effective dose of the chest during the day was $0.6{\pm}0.5{\mu}Sv$ and the equivalent dose of the lens was $2.2{\pm}1.0{\mu}Sv$. At the time of dispensing, the equivalent dose of the lens was $0.187{\pm}0.035mSv$, the effective dose of the chest was $0.137{\pm}0.055mSv$, the equivalent dose of the lens was $0.247{\pm}0.057mSv$, and the effective dose of the monthly chest was $0.187{\pm}0.021mSv$. As a result of the corresponding sample test, the equivalent dose and the effective dose of the chest, the effective dose of the chest, the effective dose of the chest, the effective dose of the chest, The equivalent dose of the lens and the effective dose of the chest were statistically significant (p<0.05) with a significance of 0.000. However, there was no statistically significant difference (p>0.05) between the equivalent dose and the effective dose of the chest, the equivalent dose of the lens at the time of injection, and the effective dose of the chest at 0.138 and 0.230, respectively.
The goal of this paper is to develop a rational static method which consider efficiently the dynamic effect of the gravity load following sudden removal of element. For this goal this paper introduce the equivalent load for element stiffness which is a preceding research result and will develop equivalent static analysis which will be able to predict the maximum behavior considering dynamic effect. Some examples are provided to verify it. Equivalent static analysis is compared with the analysis method which is recommended by the GSA2003 guidelines and the time-history analysis which is the most accurate for dynamic behavior.
The dynamics of train has recently been analysed in many cases and very complex nonlinear creep theories have been developed by many engineers. But much calculation time is spent and latest complex creep theories cannot be adapted in train analysis. In this study efficient and fast train analysis method was suggested. Many of degree of freedom were reduced in multi-vehicle system using equivalent system and fast calculation time was achieved. And the accuracy of equivalent system method was proved by linear and nonlinear dynamic analysis.
An investigation was made of the effect of carrot variety and harvest time (DAP) on the composition of carotenoids and the Retinol Equivalent value by column chromatography, and of the relation of the total carotenoid content to the Retinol Equivalent by regression analysis. The results are summarized as follows : 1. There were very significant differences of total carotenoid, ${\alpha}-carotene,\;and\;{\beta}-carotene$ contents among carrot varieties and between two harvest times(90 DAP, 99 DAP). Especially, each component of carotenoids in carrots harvested at 99 DAP attained higher concentrations than 90 DAP. 2. Retinol Equivalent value showed the tendency to increase as the numbers of DAP incr The Shindaehyung-Ochon and Hongshim-Ochon varieties had the highest RE. value. 3. In the composition of carotenoids and Retinol Equivalent value, the Shamgae-Ochon variety had the nearest value to the mean of all variety. Therefore, it is most reasonable to use the Shamgae-Ochon variety for the analysis of vitamin A value in carrots. 4. The regression of the totel carotenoid (x) to the Retinol Equivalent (y) was y = 0.074 + 0.12x $(r^2$ = 0.91). So, if total carotenoid content is determined, R.E. value can be predicted by this regression equations, saving time and labor.
